Our tour guide Jose was phenomenal! We learned so much and had a great time. He picked us up at our hotel and took us to the national park to see the waterfalls, then on the sloth tour. He is extremely knowledgeable. 10 out of 10 would recommend

Worth the drive. Worth the 300+ steps down - and back up! The steps are solid, with a good handrail on both sides. There is a :30 minutes trail walk to the beginning of the stairs. Other trail options if you want more.
We learned so much about the fun and important facts of Costa Rica from our talented and dedicated guide Esteban. This excursion was well organized. It started with a coffee and chocolate tasting/learning about the process of their making. Followed by viewing of sloths, hiking in the rainforest, seeing tarantulas, venomous snakes, a gorgeous waterfall…These were some of the highlights of the day. I would highly recommend this excursion. We had a fun day.
Overall we liked the tour We were lucky it turned out to be a private tour and weather was great (no rain) The colour of the water of Rio Celeste didnt disappoint and the sloth tour was awesome, we saw sloths, taucans, butterflies, snake, frogs 😊
The trip was worth it! Our tour guide took us to a few good restaurants and explained everything to us. The waterfall was amazing , though the stairs were hard. The sloth tour was great and the tour guide was very knowledgeable.
We didn't know anything about Rio Celeste. We booked it because something else was canceled. Compared to the more famous places, we didn't expect much. But the walk in the rain forest, the little animals that we saw, the beautiful vegetation, and finally, the amazing waterfall at the bottom, were unexpectedly beautiful. And the sloth forest was fascinating, with a guide that showed us, in addition to the sloths, so many animals, including a fight between a beautifully colored Motmot and a Thrush over food. All this was narrated by Luis Molina, who very casually, while joking with us, found every animal and bird, shared with us the connection to nature that is part of the culture of Costa Rica, and little stories to enhance our experience.
Incredible day and tour! Well worth it and a highlight of our trip. Our guide Esteban was excellent, knowledgeable and took the trip to another level.
Wonderful trip that is absolutely worth it! It was nice to pair cultural experiences with outdoor activities. Esteban, our guide for the tour, was friendly and knowledge and added value to the trip. I would certainly recommend this excursion to anyone visiting the Guanacaste region of Costa Rica.
Great tour! The guide Luis was very kind. We saw lots of birds ans sloth in the sloth tour we did After Rio celeste.Thx Luis
We had a wonderful time, it was well worth the money spent. Our guide was very knowledgeable, helpful, friendly and fun to be with. We would definitely do it again when we're in Costa Rica. Have good hiking shoes,
we travelled 3 hrs each way in a crappy mini van to see the rio celeste never got into the national park to see the volcano or the waterfall .we just got to see the sloth park which was good and travel was miserable . they refunded $48 which we payed over $600. please do not book these trips through viator . not worth the hassle at all .
The tour was good and the food as well. Guide was very accommodating. However if the lure of the trip is approximately 8 hours duration, it was 14.5 hours total with average traffic so that cannot be blamed. We had plans later in the afternoon for a night tour. Thinking we could come back and shower but we got back at 8:30pm.
The trail hike to the falls was fairly moderate in intensity and the guide encouraged us to go at our most comfertable pace. She would stop and rest with us when needed. She pointed out different flora unique to the area and any animals we were lucky to view. The steps leading down to the falls were easily managed going down or coming up. Those who didn't want to go to the base level were still able to get a good view of the falls from above. I will suggest getting there early because the humidity increases significantly at midday which would make the trek more difficult. I will suggest the park install more comfertable rest stations with benches and cool water for those that need it.
A visit to Rio Celeste waterfall and sloth watching tour was the perfect end to our trip to Costa Rica. The spectacular view of the waterfall, the unreal turquoise color of the water, and sloth watching tour are some of the most beautiful things I've experienced in my life. A truly unforgettable experience. Thank you to our tour guide John, who was full of insightful information about the surrounding and the wild flora and fauna.
Tour itself was absolutely amazing. And our guide Johan helped the experience be so much better !!!!
Rio Celeste is simply a must see wonder. After that our guide Johan facilitated fresh fruit - so good! Then we headed to a jungle walk where saw sloths in their natural environment, the infamous red dart frog and many other things… our local guide was really knowledgable and I learnt a lot! Thankyou!
Johnhan was a great tour guide. The falls were amazing, as beautiful as the pics. It's about a 3 hour drive each direction. The hike to the falls is a med level, definitely some hills. The breakfast and lunch were great. Sloth tour had a ton of wildlife. Fernando was a great guide for that. Well over 13hours from pick up to drop off. Highly recomend.
I confess that I wasn't expecting much from this tour, but it was really nice, it was really worth it. The river is incredible, the color seems to have been painted with paint, but for me the coolest thing was seeing all the animals when we went to see the sloths. We saw monkeys feeding, a sloth scratching and eating, a tapir, different types of frogs, snakes and birds. It was sensational, the energy of this place is incredible. Our guide was very helpful at all times and very nice, she took us to eat in great places and was always available to help us, simply amazing
Amazing tour and a great tour guy. Breakfast and lunch were wonderful too. The service was very personalized.
The Rio Celeste was definitely worth seeing. I can only think of one other river in my life that color blue. I also really enjoyed the walking tour photographing animals. I think we all came away with some good photos. Our guide was excellent. She really helped me get through hike with some excellent advice that worked very well. She was also an eagle eye at spotting plants and animals of interest.
Our driver and tour guide Yojhan was so awesome and fun the whole day! He was very informative during the hike, sharing information about the park and area, as well as how sustainable CR is. After the hike, he brought us to a fruit stand to drink and eat out of coconuts and eat fresh pineapple. He did such a great job!
Best tour we did in Costa Rica. Saw so much wildlife that we never would have spotted without a guide. The water was amazing, and even in the pouring rain, we had a blast. Everyone in the group loved it.
The tour is a long day with 4 hours of driving from San Jose to Rio Celeste but definitely worth it. Our driver Johan and our tour guide Luis made the road trip very comfortable and fun. The breakfast and lunch were very good. The Rio Celeste trail could be challenging for some people that are not used to walk and climb stairs. The sloths watching was informative and fun too.
The waterfall was so beautiful and our tour guide was great!! Highly recommend this tour!! Everything was wonderful, including the food and views and wildlife! We saw many sloths, frogs, monkeys, etc. thank you!!!
Great day out to the Rio Celeste park and Sloth sanctuary. Guide was great looking after myself and daughter and was very knowledgeable about the area and wildlife. Journey time is long from San Jose but this was made longer by road closures but out of anyone's control, However we enjoyed the journey, the Rio celeste and the bonus was the Sloth sanctuary which was wonderful with a fantastic local guide who took us on a walk around the reserve. Thank you to all
First of all, if I could put 0 stars I would do it! We had a terrible experience with Aye Tours Travel Costa Rica! I wrote them an email in advance to know our pickup time and they answered me that they would give it to me closer from our excursion. Two days before, I sent them an email and they never answered, I tried to call them the day before and it went directly on their voicemail, I left a message asking them to communicate with me as soon as possible because I was started to worry about our excursion. We prepared our stuff later that night thinking that our confirmation stated that the pickup time is around 5:30am so we programmed our alarm for 4:00am. Well once we were finished to pack everything for this excursion and got ready to go to bed (9:07pm) I received an email saying that they were sorry but the tour couldn’t take place because their guide called sick, which is possible but given the fact that they didn’t answer until last minute, I’m pretty sure it was BS and they just didn’t want to operate the tour for two people! We were only in Costa Rica for 5 full days and because of them we lost a full day since it was to late to book something else! My best advice is to avoid that company at all cost! At least, since we have booked our excursion with Marriott, I asked them to get a refund and it was quickly done, since Aye Tours Travel Costa Rica never answer neither to my refund request!
This tour was amazing! The view of the river was stunning and our tour guide Yancy took us to an area where we could see the gradient of the colour changing which looked spectacular. We also saw a range of animals including monkeys. On our way back our tour guide stopped along the road to show us some sloths - definitely one of the highlights of our trip!! I would highly recommend this tour and also requesting Yancy.
How can I put this into words ,by luck we booked with A&E as always from the UK its all a bit of guess work . What amazing luck apart from being the people that made our holiday fantastic ( we had 5 tours with them ) to people we miss as friends . great knowledge of the areas looking after Me and Maria on every Tour . I can say we miss Costa Rica Now we are home but the last tour we had was like leaving friends . If you are going to book a tour in costa Rica book A&E and no one else
We had an amazing experience with tour guide Yojhan and driver Juan Jose. They were extremely friendly, professional, and kind. We had booked this excursion last minute(literally the day before), and Yojhan was extremely communicative in keeping us updated about the logistics for the tour the next day. We were picked up 5:15am sharp. We had a traditional Costa Rican breakfast(included) before reaching Rio Celeste. The beautiful rainforest-feel hike was around 2.5hrs-3hrs. I would suggest wearing hiking shoes due to the muddy and slippery trail + mosquito repellents but I hiked with my Birkenstock sandals and it was fine. Yojhan was extremely patient with us. Rio Celeste was beautiful. Please note that swimming in Rio Celeste is prohibited by the government. We then had an extremely delicious lunch(included) next to the National Park, omg it was soooooo yummy yummy. We also stopped by a cute maze called Katira Labyrinth. Since there was only a few of us in the tour, the guide offered to stop by the town in La Fortuna for a quickstop on the way back for a quick souvenir shopping. We did not get back to the hotel until 8pm. The trip is a must!
The tour is highly seasonal, and dishonest tour operator doesn't bother to give you a heads up about what to expect. When in fact they should not take money for this destination in the winter months at all. River looks usual during this period, and rains make it impossible even to do the trek in the forest (local guide suggested we don't go further than the waterfall and described it as a misery instead of a pleasure). So we drove 8 hours to the point and back for 125$ per person to see common waterfall after 15 minutes walk in the reserve - and that's it. And the same tour operator cancelled my other 2-days tour, the one I was highly dependent on (because it was also my transportation between stays in different regions) and you know the reason? Because it was slightly raining at the first destination... where we were supposed to do springs bathing in the hotel! Moreover, they did it less than 24 hours before the start of the tour (after I was trying to contact them for several hours without response), putting me through the stress of finding other means of transportation, re-planning accommodations and skipping country's highlights I wanted to visit! Idiocy and fraud.
The very respectful and friendly guide, I recommend this agency to take your tours if you come to Costa Rica!
Wonderful experience, our guide was dedicated, thanks to him we saw several animals, sloths, monkeys, birds... and the beautiful fall of heavenly Rio!!
A wonderful experience!! Johan passed by us to the hotel, it is very friendly, throughout the tour was very respectful, helpful, information about the whole tour, and more places to know......we will return to another tour and ask the same tour guide (Johan).... Super recommended.... We were surprised by so much nature and the experience of having a sloth nearby and being able to appreciate the beauty of the fauna.... Plus the beautiful waterfall and the crystal clear water
Incredible tour, Luis and the driver were very kind and supported us quite well on this tour I highly recommend it! The waterfall and the sloths are experiences that were very worthwhile.
We were accompanied by Michael and Stewar. Simply great! Breathtaking, we loved it! Guide and driver number 1!
Mickael was a wonderful guide, attentive and patient. He had a lot of information to offer us and tried to speak to us in French… This excursion was fantastic!
Super good service, very friendly and excellent food, the tour is super enjoyable and excellent views, I took very good photos. 100% recommend it!
A must-see during the C.R. Stay. If possible at 08:00 in before the rush starts, a certain fitness should be brought, it is always necessary to climb a few hundred steps
All very well, maybe we fell behind stopping in San Ramon and the lunch restaurant even though the food is fine, the place we were designated, was not
Excellent the whole tour, it was very enjoyed despite the rain could perform the whole walk without problem
Excellent Service ...super recommended national tour, friendly, attentive, good treatment. Pure life Costa Rica...
A wonderful experience, the flora and fauna of the place is beautiful. The super attentive staff and delicious food would definitely go again. The landscape is wonderful, so much so that in that place I was proposed 🥰.
Family trip with a team that took all our inquiries, very capable and high kindness, super recommended
Excellent Service and attention, this is the first time we travel with A&E and I expect many more, 100% Recommended
