The Doka Coffee Estate is located on the fertile slopes of the Poas Volcano. This farm belongs to the Costa Rican Vargas Ruiz family, pioneers of coffee production for more than 70 years. Costa Rica’s unique climate and diverse landscapes provide perfect growing conditions for gourmet coffee beans. Guided by an expert, you will learn all about the production, harvesting, roasting and packaging processes of the “Golden Bean”. After the tour, you can visit the Doka Estate Souvenir Shop and take home coffee of the highest quality. The second stop will be the beautiful town of Grecia, in Alajuela Province. Mostly farmers by profession, the people from this charming town are relaxed and laidback. Being an important agricultural hub of the country, sugar cane is grown and harvested in Grecia in huge amounts, as is organic coffee and pineapples. This town is an important tourist destination mainly due to its unique metal church, which is a deep dark red color. The Cathedral de la Mercedes is a gothic style church made from metal pieces that were imported from Belgium in the 1890’s. This church is as beautiful on the inside as it is impressive on the outside. The last stop is Sarchi, known as the Cradle of Costa Rican Artisans thanks to its fine workshops. Here you will have time to enjoy the artistic work of local artisans as they create the famous, typical oxcarts and you will have the opportunity to look for a special souvenir to take home. At the end of the tour, you will enjoy a delicious and typical Costa Rican lunch.
