We did two tours and I had an outstanding experience with Nana Tours during my visit to Costa Rica. The professionalism and dedication shown by our tour guide, Roy, truly made our trips unforgettable. His deep knowledge and passion for sharing every detail enriched our visits to Manuel Antonio National Park and La Fortuna Waterfall. Roy consistently went above and beyond to ensure we had the best experience possible. His attention, expertise, great personality and commitment to making our tours meaningful were exceptional. I highly recommend Nana Tours to anyone visiting Costa Rica, they helped make my trip truly special.

This day we will leave your Hotel for the Poás de Alajuela area, we will make a stop for a brief explanation about our golden grain, the coffee where we will stop to see the coffee bushes, also having the opportunity to take a photograph of the Ventral Valley and from the coffee plantation. We will continue the tour through fern, flower and strawberry crops. We will continue our way to La Paz Waterfalls on the way we will make a stop to try fresh strawberries, upon arrival we will walk along a beautiful trail, which leads to different attractions of the park, including the aviary, the largest butterfly observatory in the country , the hummingbird gallery, the serpentarium, the exhibition of frogs, monkeys and cats. In this place a delicious buffet-style lunch awaits us in the middle of the rainforest, at the end of lunch we will take a walk where we can visit three imposing natural waterfalls formed by the same La Paz River. It should be noted that this walk takes place in the humid tropical forest sector and consists of steps in some parts of the route.
Our guide will explain about the crops in the area, and if you wish, you can visit some vendors in the area, this subject to the availability of the Tour.

Nice tour and beautiful area. We just drove by coffee plantations and didn’t stop anywhere.
This is a lot of steps but so worth it!!! Wear comfortable shoes and watch your step. I would definitely do it again! I also wouldn't see a need for a guide. Take your time and enjoy the beautiful scenery!
From our hotel in the heart of San José, it took us a little more than an hour to get to La Paz Waterfalls & Sanctuary. We hired the services of a guide and driver. The site has several points of interest, from the butterfly garden, sloth sanctuary, and so much more. The walk through the falls can be either moderately accessible (shorter in time) to more physically strenuous… all depending if you wish to go up and down to the base of the waterfalls. In any event, it’s worthwhile to take day and join a visit to the POAS National Park 20 minutes away.
Our tour guide, Frank was absolutely amazing!! He took us on the most magical day ever and made it extra special at each place we went. We learned so much from him about Costa Rica and traded Engilsh and Spanish words with each other. This is my honeymoon and my husband and I are SO happy we found this tour guide! The waterfalls were breathtaking and the animal sanctuary was beautiful. There's a whole butterfly and hummingbird garden too. Buffet lunch was delicious. Hands down one of the best days of my husband and my life! Ask for Frank, he's the best!!
Everything that you see and do is a beautiful experience. All planned very well! Our tour guide Frank was so friendly and made it even move amazing. Our driver was so safe and met the needs of our wellbeing.
we did the La Paz waterfall and animal sanctuary tour. the tour was a great time. the views were beautiful, the food was good, and the tour guide Franklin did an amazing job from letting us use an umbrella during the rain to explaining everything about the place and answering any questions we had. Franklin went above and beyond to make sure we had a great time.
This is an amazing attraction! In addition to the waterfalls there are many interesting exhibits: monkeys, wild cats, snakes, frogs, orchids, gardens and more. We spend several hours here on our way from San Jose to Hotel Arenal Manoa. We enjoyed a delicious Costa Rican buffet lunch after our tour of the waterfalls and exhibits.
We had a free day before all of our family gathered I. San Jose to begin our vacation. We were at this point a group of 8 , consisting of 4 adults and 4 children ranging from 6-11. A friend teaching in San Jose Costa Rica suggested a day trip to the La Paz waterfall and the Animal recovery in La Paz. VIAJES NANA AND OUR guide, Mauricio Ulloa were incredible. From the start, his explanation of the day was geared to our grandchildren and they became part of the decisions made. We saw a facinating array of animals , many of which we had never seen before. Our hike to the waterfalls was truly beautiful and at our own pace. I would suggest this activity for anyone visiting Costa Rica. With or without children Mauricio Ulloa is a guide that brought our visit to Costa Rica a remarkable journey. I hope you will take the time to enjoy this activity!
The actual tour guide was so kind and knowledgeable but the rest of the trip was awful. I was picked up from my hotel around 1015. The pickup option was super convenient but knowing the weather in Costa Rica I wish it was Earlier to try and beat the weather that passes through mid day. My driver didn’t understand English and my Spanish isn’t that great so we were unable to communicate. We stopped twice for about 5 minutes each time and I have no idea why. After a very very slow drive, two hours later I arrived at a rest stop. A worker at the rest stop informed me I would have to wait here for another van to come pick me up and continue on with the tour. Almost an hour later the other van finally showed up with the rest of the group who then shopped around for 10-15 more minutes. We finally boarded the van and still had a half hour drive to the waterfalls. While in the van the weather finally caught us and it was Down pouring for the rest of the day. The new driver was excellent. The weather so was terrible that it just Made the experience awful. Nothing the guides could of done to make it better. The description of the tour mentions strawberries and stopping to see coffee bushes, a photo opportunity, I never did any of that. The animals were nice but again the awful weather made it so Unappealing. The buffet was mediocre food wise but the views were stunning. We spent more time looking at caged animals than we did the waterfalls. When it finally Came time to see the waterfalls they were stunning and have it not Been torrential down pouring I’m sure it would Have been more beautiful but it was Muddy water that looked disgusting. By the end of the tour I was so soaked I had to buy new clothes at the gift shop. After the falls we immediately got in the van and left. At one point I had to switch cars again to be dropped off at my hotel and that took close to two hours. So between 10am-7pm I sat in a car / waited on other people for close to 5 hours in total. On my final ride back the driver complained the entire time about my hotel. Next time I would just take Uber. I spent more time in a car than I did at the physical site, the communication was terrible and I have no idea why I never did the entire first portion of the tour.
It’s hard to mess up La Paz it’s absolutely beautiful and our tour guide was so educated on everything. However I do not appreciate the pick up instructions changed. The location for pickup was moved last minute to a place we were not close to. And the pick up time was pushed an hour back. Which made us hit traffic both ways. Also it was supposed to be a private tour but someone else joined.
Excellent tour guide and tour experience! The Waterfalls were gorgeous. It’s a physical challenge going up the stairs but well worth it.
Do Not book through this company! What was booked and said over the phone was completely different than what was offered.
Our guide was incredible- so much knowledge of the area and he couldn’t have been kinder to us. We learned so much on this tour and found the value to be beyond our expectations. Ronnie really made to day special for us 😊
The tour company text me the night before to cancel the reservation. I was not able to access through TripAdvisor. I need a refund for the La Paz waterfall tour, as I did not go at the tour company's request. Please let me know I will receive that refund. Thank you
I loved experiencing the total immersion in a stunning natural wonderland, yet in a safe environment and manner. I also enjoyed meeting people from all over the world and of course our knowledgeable and funny guide. The buffet lunch was wonderful, offering many varieties of local and world fare, and a nice long break. The transportation was prompt and comfortable. I realize that we were connecting with other tours, yet for this particular tour, I would recommend starting earlier in the day to avoid rush-hour traffic coming back to San Jose. All in all, a fantastic experience! Steve
The tour was great and the food was even better! Philander was very knowledgeable and loved showing us around. He helped us book our next tour, was on time, and took his time showing us the city. The animals were awesome and it was a beautiful tour.
La Paz Waterfall is amazing. To many steps to go dawn to the waterfall. The prolem is going back up. I am 61 and I did it. So can you. It is worth it. Take your time. Great restaurant with good food.
We had a truly memorable experience with Fila! He was so knowledgeable and stopped to tell us information about the city and other places on it drive to Le Paz and his knowledge of Le Paz itself must be unrivaled. It family has a wonderful time. Pura Vida!!!!
We went on our own (no guide) to this beautiful park. We arrived mid morning and spent around three hours wandering the exhibitions, gardens and walking the trails to visit the very impressive waterfalls. The walk is easy, on good and safe paths. The view is incredible and the flora amazing. Since it’s so high up in the hills the weather was cool but comfortable. The excellent maintenance and thoughtfulness is obvious at every corner you turn. We didn’t have lunch at the restaurant but it looked lovely. We ate at one of the “soda’s” not far from the park. Excellent food, two people including cold drinks cost us 11,000 colones. The drive up and back was beautiful. Coffee plantations abound. Great day trip if you are in the San Jose area.
Waterfalls were stunning and really enjoyed all the other sections as well - butterflies, cats, hummingbirds, toucans, etc. Great way to spend a day.
It’s been a fantastic experience, I highly recommend the tour! The guide was very experienced and helpful. Take some cash with you!
Excellent walk through the rainforest, the waterfall are nice. Please be sure you are fit enough to climb stairs...there are some! Lunch at the restaurant was quite poor. The big animals are kept in rather limited space, made me a lot of pain. But you can enjoy the butterflies, the humingbirds...One in all, acceptable visit.
Antonio was Great! He picked us up from a local hotel ( we took an uber there because we were in an airbnb). Then he greeted us and drove us to our first spot. He showed us the coffee plantation, and had much knowledge about it. He then took us to this cute shop on the way that had souviners, the people who ran the shop were really sweet, and had fresh strawberries and cheese. We then went to the waterfall. Antonio walked us though all the animal exhibits and then we met up for lunch. Food was really good. The waterfalls were beautiful and it was overall an easy trail. There were a lot of steps going up and make sure to hold the rail because some were slippery. Antonio was a very personable guy and we would do another tour with him in a heartbeat. 10/10
Anotonio (our tour guide) did a great job! His knowledge is excellent! La Paz is just another fantastic spot to check out while in beautiful Costa Rica! From birds and animals to wild butterflies all in route to sightseeing gorgeous waterfalls! I knew from the trip up the mountain towards Poas Volcano that we were being led to a great day! Enjoyed every bit of it! Thank you!
Waterfalls are amazing. Worth the many steps taken. Just keeps getting better and better as you go from one waterfall to another. Max our guide was a cool cat that has been doing this tour for many decades. Well instructed tour.
Eduardo Castro was amazing! The absolute best. Will be asking for him again in the future! The tour was beautiful. My mom couldn’t not handle the steps to the waterfall so he drove her to see it
Antonio was great! Funny and kind! Told us about Costa Rica, it’s history, animals, plants, resources, etc. He also went out of his way to return a wallet left in his van! So kind of him! We had a great time!
The tour would have been better if the tour guide had given us some information about the the La Paz waterfalls, etc. Also, he did not take us to see the coffee plants and the strawberries which were listed in the description saying we would go on our way back, but he drove us straight to our hotel later. Our "tour guide" pretty much drove us there, and back to our hotel.
The waterfalls are beautiful and the buffet plentiful. The pineapple drink in the buffet is not good. As many fruits as there are in Costa Rica, the buffet could offer a better beverage selection. I have a hard time believing that all the animals are rescues. Even if they were, the space is confined. The poor oxen are sustaining a cart all day where people can climb. This oxen activity should be eliminated.
We were lucky enough to get Arturo as your tour guide you will be in for a great time. We were picked up at the location we were staying right on time no Tici time. Our guide spoke English and Spanish and was very knowledgeable. He had the grandpa wisdom that makes every tour amazing. He knew all the animals and s crts for each area it seemed. It was worth every dime we spent for the tour. As far as if you are being ok’ing La Paz go with this group….it’s the only way to go
Really awesome half day tour. There was a nice little workout in at the end. Pleasantly surprised with the lunch option and impressed by the variety of sights.
Guide person (Don Antonio) excellent! Wonderful nature, it was amazing to see so many things in one place.
Great experience. Ricardo was very knowledgeable. Wonderful lunch. The animals were interesting to see but we really loved the waterfalls and how close you could get. We have seen a lot of waterfalls and without a doubt, these were the best!
We took a tour to La Paz with Carolina. She was an excellent guide! On the way there, she told us about the country and different things we were seeing along the way. She was very knowledgeable about the animals and the waterfalls. She answered all of our questions and was very friendly the entire trip. La Paz Waterfalls was a beautiful place, and she just made it all the more enjoyable! I would definitely recommend her for any tour!
Guide was very knowledgeable and friendly. Tour was very thorough. It took a good 6.5 hours, so definitely worth the price. You’re able to get very up close to the waterfalls and take great pictures.
Our tour would of been amazing if it didn’t rain. The tour guy Tony was amazing, he did his best with the weather against him. Was wasn’t able to get my beautiful pictures but the experience was amazing. Can’t predict the weathe.
Wonderful place, the shelter is in excellent condition, the whole family really enjoyed learning about the animals that are there. The food at the restaurant was very good. The waterfalls are amazing, quite a sight. Overall the facilities are perfectly maintained, clean and in good condition, something super important when traveling with children. The staff is very friendly, you always feel welcome. But in our tour we have to make a special mention to our guide Mauricio Ulloa, from the pick up he told us about the history of the places we were passing, we had very enjoyable conversations, he was always very attentive to us and giving us the best tips and helping us to take incredible photographs. A highly recommended tour!!!
Wonderful experience a lovely place Pure Life surrounded by beautiful nature and animals almost unites their natural habitation by the wonderful enclosure where they are
We really enjoyed the experience, the beautiful day, the spotless place, very friendly Mauritius and super friendly. I think it is a very complete experience at the level of food, nature and difficulty level. It's for everyone. Highly recommended.
An amazing place, very nice, we saw many animals and amazing vegetation, it has several very nice areas where you can see animals like pelicans, sloth, different types of birds, it has a very nice butterfly and the falls are beautiful as well as throughout the way you see an incredible amount of flora
Beautiful park with several different activities. Butterfly greenhouse, animals (monkeys, jaguar, ocelot...), birds, frogs. beautiful trails that lead to different falls. very beautiful landscape. A little expensive but worth the visit.
Amazing views, lots of photos 100% recommended Many animals to see but definitely spectacular are the waterfalls
Very good tour! The Falls are beautiful and the sanctuary of the animals too! Super recommended! Wear wet tennis and a raincoat in case it rains
We really liked it, we saw birds, especially very beautiful toucans, frogs and other animals rescued in captivity as jaguars, as well as butterflies. The place is well maintained and the buffet lunch was good. The waterfall was also beautiful.
There are 3 waterfalls on the site. They are not very spectacular. The last waterfall is the least accessible in terms of steps to climb on the way back, rather demanding.
Prior to traveling back to Spain have been 4-5 hours of pleasant walks in a very manicured private estate or brutal landscapes with its falls. It is highly recommended!!!
It takes you along a path that looks like it is in a Virtual video, but you are actually walking along a path that goes along the entire river with its beautiful waterfalls. Fabulous you have to live it Costa Rica is wonderful.
This tours is an adventure of the hand of nature in every step a new adventure in its vegetation its landscape and its animals its falls everything is a place where one transports to the tranquility and beauty of Nature that there is no word to say it they have to see so that they know what one wishes to explain it is something to visit
