Honestly, it's one of the best tours I've been on. It was perfect in every aspect; my guide was Ronny, extremely knowledgeable and ready to answer any questions. The pace between stops also felt perfect, from Irazu to Cartago, to Orosi Valley. It didn't feel rushed. The food was absolutely delicious! Overall, I highly recommend to everyone visiting Costa Rica!

$149 is too much for an entry to a volcano park, one stop at a church and one stop at a mediocre food lunch place. Price should probably be one third of that. The itinerary states: visit Cartago's city main attraction "including" the Los Angeles Basilica (it was the only attraction visited). There was no "Stop at a viewpoint for beautiful pictures", only a stop to a souvenir store (more money for them) and "proceed to a restaurant for a great lunch", where the food was meh and the service was cold at best.
Very varied tour. Was able to walk in a crater, toured the Cathedral, botanical garden and had a tasty lunch. Have patience with the traffic. Roads are overcrowded. Edgar our guide was terrific on all aspects.
Wonderful guide, well organized tour excellent lunch, worth the money, we enjoyed every minute of it
Harlem was a great guide, knowledgeable, efficient pleasant and helpful. The natural beauty of Irazcu is awe inspiring. We did not realize that the elevation was 9000 feet and that at the top at 9 AM it would be 40 degrees Fahrenheit and windy so be prepared and bring warm clothes. We ended up having to buy gift shop sweatshirts! While Irazcu was the highlight our visits to the two historic churches and the botanical garden were entirely enjoyable enlightening and worthwhile. As Harlem explained to us you need to see Irazcu first thing in the morning which makes the public bus a poor option. Lunch was consistent with the other meals we have had in Costa Rica: hearty, simple and delicious. We got the fish which was a great choice.
My wife and I had an amazing day exploring Costa Rica's Cartago province on our tour that included Irazu Volcano, the historic city of Cartago, the Orosi Valley with a delicious lunch, and the beautiful Lankester Botanical Gardens. The views at Irazu Volcano were breathtaking, my wife commented that it felt like standing on another planet. In Cartago, the Basilica de Nuestra Señora de los Angeles was very impressive. We appreciated having time in Cartago to shop for souvenirs. Lunch at the Orosi Valley was perfect with delicious Costa Rican food. We then visited the Church of San Jose de Orosi, built by Franciscans in the 1740’s, and finally, the Lankester Botanical Gardens with thousands of orchids in bloom, plus bromeliads, bamboo, and that peaceful Japanese section. A highlight for any plant lover. What made the whole day fantastic was our guide, Arlin, who was incredibly knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and made everything fun and informative. Highly recommend this tour for people wanting a mix of nature, culture, and great food. Easily a 5 out of 5 stars.
Had a great time with Edgar. He was very knowledgeable and had awesome conversations about the history and the people, culture. Definitely recommend this trip
We saw and did a lot in this tour, so a very good value for a day tour. Be mindful, however, that the total tour, if you count pick up and drop off time takes about 12 hours, which makes it a very long day. Difficult to see the volcano because it was cloudy there but did get a small glimpse for a short time. Also be aware it's very cold up there. The lunch by the lake was a super beautiful place. Guide and driver were excellent, professional, kind, friendly.
We did not think would be such a great tour! The guide Raquel was fantastic as well as the driver. The lunch was booked in a great restaurant with a view and a great lake and a lot of variety to chose from a great buffet We loved it Thank you Raquel!
The tour was all I expected and more. Oscar was a great tour guide who understandably was passionate about his country. Destiny Travel should be commended for taking me on my tour, even with some last minute cancellations. I would heartily recommend this tour to anyone wanting a great overall experience. The knowledge you get from a professional tour guide is work every penny.
We covered a lot in a matter of hours and the tour guide (we had Abdul) was very nice and patient with us, extremely appreciative!
Arturo was our guide for the day and he was very informative! He made sure that we all had a great time! We were lucky that the clouds lifted and we were able to see the entire volcano! The Basilica was beautiful as well. Lunch was muy bueno!
It as a beautiful day out. We were able to see the whole volcano before the clouds moved it. Worth going early. The lunch was excellent. The only real issue I had was that I requested a English speaking guide which I did have. We only had 4 people on our tour. My 19 yo son, myself, and 2 others. The spoke very good english, as did the tour guide but the 3 of them spoke Spanish throughout the trip. Multiple times I asked if they would please correspond in English as there may be information that we would find interesting or at the very least feel like we were being engaged in the conversation. On the way back to the hotel, I finally gave up after 4 polite requests to speak English. For me, with such a small group, it was very poor etiquette.
Freddy was a great guide, he explained a lot on our way to the volcano. Unfortunately it was really cloudy so we couldn't see the crater, but that's just luck. It was still a nice experience. Freddy also made a bathroom stop for me on the way back to San Jose. Very sweet!
What an incredible experience. Filander was a wonderful tour guide (do yourself a favor and ask for him) and Cristian was a wonderful driver - both clearly love their beautiful country and want you to enjoy it as much as they do. We were fortunate and the clouds cleared for us to see the beautiful volcano from above and below where the main parking lot is. The rest of the tour was wonderful too. Highly recommended.
Although the weather wasn't very good we had a great day. Our guide was very nice and knew a lot about the places we visited and their history. We were only a group of two persons so our guide arranged to our wishes. A warm jacket and a long trouser is a must have on the volcán:)
My guide for the trip was Oscar. He was funny, warm, friendly and informative. I had wanted to go to Cartago City and this tour allowed me to do that. Afterward, we went to Irazu Volcano. It was cool to learn that it is the highest point in Costa Rica. Before the trip ended, we had lunch in Orosi Valley. It was a long drive to get there but worth it. It was beautiful and serene.
Seeing the craters of the Irazu Volcano and being able to visit some of the historic buildings in Cartago. The food was fantastic too. Definitely will book with DestinyTravel in the future and our tour guide was amazing!
I've never booked an official tour before--I typically like to explore on my own, but I can't emphasize enough how great this tour was! Our guide clearly loved his job and he was knowledgable and friendly (and funny!)--his energy was absolutely joyful! Besides the volcano, we got to visit landmarks and see parts of the country that we would have probably never seen on our own, and the lunch spot was perfect and delicious. The volcano itself was stunning--not as much hiking as I had expected, as the path is just on one side of the main crater, but it was serene and awe-inspiring, and we were given plenty of time to appreciate it. There were also several stops and surprises along the drive, and the fact that they picked us up and dropped us off right in front of our AirBnb rental was incredibly convenient. It was mine and my friend's last full day in Cost Rica, and it couldn't have been any better. :)
The Irazu volcano can be reached to bove by car and the flow of visitors is managed with time slots so that there are not too many visitors at the same time. If the weather is good it is a wonderful experience where the contrast of the wide plain with the deep crater comes across as great.
What a magnificent Service, clean, pleasant, accessible and with all necessary services. My wife is pregnant and offered a wheelchair to reach the viewpoint of the crater, I think this is fundamental, think of everyone even if they have any mobility problems
