Everyone who worked at Rainforest Adventures was extremely friendly and helpful. Two family members did the zip line (they loved it), while the other two did the tram, which is a nice hour or so ride through the rainforest. The zip line takes a little longer but there is a nice cafe right there to have food and drinks. They had the largest hamburger I’ve ever seen and kid friendly options. The sloths are a must see! They are actually quite active versus others I’ve seen that are just sleeping. The butterfly exhibit was also really cool. We enjoyed just walking around too. Expect the transfer ride there and back to be a little long because of traffic. I would definitely go back!

Reviews
Tapirus lodge and the whole area are simply fantastic. We saw many animals incl. Tapir. Humingbirds etc...and also huge spider. The food was great too and the staff very friendly.
We had a wonderful time and would definitely book again. It’s an all day experience and you get a true understanding of the rain forest.
We did 10 different zip line rides on this tour. WOW, one was 1 minute long. Was thrilling especially zip lining thru the lush forest We also did a trolly ride high up for about an hour which had an amazing view .
The zip lines were a blast! The aerial tram was very serene and relaxing. We didn't see any animals, other than a coati - basically a racoon. The park is well run and the staff are very knowledgeable and accommodating.
My overall review would be "just okay." We were there on a very rainy day and the aerial tram was still wonderful. The staff are about 50/50 on friendly vs not helpful and in one case, very rude. The zipline guides are great. The food is straight up terrible. Seriously. Do not eat there. Our group of 10 ordered about 10 different things and the only thing we enjoyed was the hot chocolate. It took forever, as well and was so $$$. My review overall would be that it is not worth what they charge you. They do not guide you through the process at all. We only got to zipline because the guides saw us wandering trying to find the hikes, gardens and they asked us if we wanted to go.
It’s a good value for 6 different activities. You could easily spend half a day doing all of them. We were even able to see a large group of coatis walking around near the main area in the middle of the day. Staff was nice and accommodating too.
This was an excellent day. The zipline was amazing and so professional and safety-oriented. We had to wait for the downpour to pass and the first few zips were in light rain, but it was not a deterent. The aerial tram is actually quite delightful. Our freelance guide, James, was outstanding. He was so knowledgable about the flora, fauna and history of the region. The natural beauty and protection of this area adjacent to the national park is outstanding.
This is not 6 physical activities to do. Started my day getting on the tour bus at 645 am, which was told to meet at 720 am. That's fine with me. Got to the destination 3 hrs later. Zipline was fun! Also did an aerial tram that was ok. Ate lunch at the facility that was a limited buffet type setting, then after you could walk to the nature area see butterflies and sloths. The sloths you could not see up close as they were in a cage, lights were off, and in a locked larger cage. Then we all met up at 330 pm, to get back on tour bus, by 830 I was STILL on the bus, no drinks or restroom, all of us were upset, tired, hungry and thirsty, I chose to get off at the next stop available, take an Uber back to my place. After talking with the tour guide, he agreed, understood and was frustrated too. If I would of stayed on, I would of not gotten back to my original drop off location till after 10 pm. Staff was great but this tour was NOT.
The ziplining was great. The staff were more helpful and reassuring than past ziplining experiences. I felt safe. As far as how extreme it was I would put it at moderate. The last zipline was the best. The gondola canopy tour was nice and I learned quite a bit through our guide. The guides were very personable and knowledgable. The food was very tasty as well.
Nice trip not too far from San Jose. Gorgeous zipline views and a very relaxing and peaceful canopy team ride. Was a great trip!
It was my first time doing ziplining and I am afraid of heights. The tour guides, especially Marcos, were absolutely wonderful at explaining everything and making me feel safe. Ziplining was a great experience and definitely the highlight of the tour for me but the ride in the aerial tram was also enjoyable and very relaxing. We were able to observe a capuchin, an anteater and a sloth as well as several species of birds. The walking part of the tour was unfortunately short but worth it for the close up look at the colourful frogs. We even saw a small iguana at the end. The only thing that could have been improved was the experience driving there and back. The driver did not interact with us at all and it was a long drive. In spite of that this was a great experience that I would definitely recommend.
This tour is amazing! The zip line was so much fun and the tram was a great way to see the jungle. Thank you Rainforest Adventures for being flexible with the day as our luggage didn’t arrive so they let us come a few days later. The zip line guides were amazing and our tram guide, Marvin, was so knowledgeable and you could tell he loved giving tours. Thank you Rainforest Adventurers!
Everything was exceptional. The guides were incredibly knowledgable. The zip lines were very fun. It began raining in the middle of the tram ride, and we could see each individual leaf dance as if they were waving at us. I accidentally left my phone in the shuttle van and the driver had it returned to me within 2 hours. Highly recommend!
Had a great time on this trip. Easy to do from San Jose, zip line had amazing views, and the cable car was a great, relaxing way to see the rainforest. Marvin the nature guide was especially good!
Being slightly out of season, and on a weekday, we arrived, and we’re one of probably only a dozen visitors to rainforest adventures. I was made to wait 45 minutes after my pick up time for my ride to pick me up, and there were still stops after me to make. Bus driver drove wildly, at high rates of speed on winding roads, tailgating terribly. We finally arrived at the park, and were then told we needed to pay for lockers to put our things in. He had to pay an extra deposit in case you lost the key as well and it’s a teeny tiny little key on a tiny little ring. Ended up having to tie it to my shoelace to try not to lose it. The zip lining experience was terrifying, but exceptional, one of the guides, Marcus was very knowledgeable and explain things well, and as it got to be well into the 90s, with 90% humidity and so hot, he arranged for a vehicle to take us between stations at one point to avoid a hike. I would give two thumbs up for the zip lining experience. There was a professional photographer there to capture moments of the zip lining, which was nice, and he did take good pictures, but it is $40 to buy the thumb drive so you can get copies of those pictures.. From there we took the aerial tram, which was really quite boring and so slow and stopped often, it hardly moved at all, and the guy made some bird calls and pointed out some flowers, but was not very well-versed in the plants, animals, or butterflies out there. Are we really saw was a couple of spiders. So we sat in the tram for about an hour and 10 minutes, it’s a sweltering heat and it really wasn’t worth it. After that, we had a Casado, lunch with rice and beans, and some vegetables, and a choice of chicken or beef, and ice tea for lunch. If you wanted beer or some thing else to drink, you could pay five or six dollars for that. The portions were generous , although it was so hot and no one ate very much. Then we were waiting around more for two other people in our party to do their to her, the three others that were on the tour were so set up and not wanting to have to ride back with a bus driver that they paid $65 and had the front desk call them another private transit to take them back to the city. I was quite envious as I had to wait around a long time to get the bus back. Did a quick look at the butterflies there were very few of those, and looked at the snakes and frogs in their little aquariums. I did that alone, as the other couple was still eating or resting or something And the tour wasn’t ready. Then I just sat alone at the front waiting for it to be over. I think we only started to head back to the city a little after three because it started to pour rain. It was the same bus driver, and it was a terrifying ride through the torrential rain back to the city and took more than an hour and a half to get back to my hotel.
The tour guide was very familiar with all species of wildlife. The zipline facilitators were extremely careful & trustworthy, making sure all guests got excellent pics & were safe at all times.
Fantastic zip lining experience with 15 different cables. The air trolley was also very enjoyable, and the tour guide was wonderful and attentive. All other parts of this 6-1 pass such as the nature walk, amphibians and butterfly garden were very underwhelming and not worth the expense. Go for ziplining, fantastic views and the attentive staff, but don't go for natural immersion.
The tour of the national park was a wonderful experience. We were so excited to see unusual animals, like a tapir and coati, besides sloth and many different birds. Because this is natural, not a zoo, we felt very fortunate. The tram ride thru the canopy was lovely. We got to see different levels of the eco system. The zipline was fast and exciting, including one of the longest lines in the country! My only criticism was the that the drive host and driver only engaged occasionally with our small group. Neither described scenery or location info. The driver made me feel uneasy during the extremely foggy and wet weather conditions on the way home.
The zip lining is, of course, incredible, but the treetop ride on the modified ski lift was absolutely wonderful, calming and eye opening.
We had a great time in Braulio Carrillo Nat Pk Zip Lining. Only about 1 hour's drive from San Jose, it was nice to have a driver on a foggy, rainy morning who knew the roads. It was our first-time zip lining. Our guide was very good at explaining what to do and helped us with our harnesses. He made it fun. Your belongings go into a locker: backpack, wallet, camera, etc. You pay $3 for the rental of a little lock and key. Some people hung their phones around their necks and tucked them inside their shirts, (but if it poured rain, that could be a problem.) We are nearly 70 years old and had no problem zip lining. We saw leaf cutter ants carrying leaves along one path. (I wished I had my camera then). We loved the nature walk and saw a group of 10 white nosed coti that crossed the path in front of us which was a great experience. The buffet was open-air, like all the buffet places, with a hand washing stand outside the bathroom. It was easy to keep germs at bay. The food was good. The staff was friendly and helpful. We would go back again!
Excellent experience. The only problem was that transportation. The way to the park was just over 1.5 hits and the way park to the hotel was about 2. The drops in San Jose to pick up the other passengers were really pretty miserable. Would have probably tried to find my own transport if I knew that was going to be the case.
It's good to think of this trip as a Chill Nature Trip. The Zip-Lining was very good with many different cables. The Zip-Line also felt very good accessibility wise so I think it could be a good trip for older folks as well. The Tramway can give you amazing views of the Canopies and has very beautiful sights. I wouldn't overthink the snake/frog/or butterfly exhibits too even though the butterfly garden is decent. What REALLY makes this tour is the phenomenal guides and their explanations of nature and the ecological history of Costa Rica. They really have a passion and connection to the land and nature which is palpable and exciting. I appreciated their insights, knowledgeable and wisdom a very much. It's a very tranquil trip overall. I would recommend it for the end of your vacation to ease the way out. I give this place 4/5 because I feel like the "6-1 Pass" name of it is trying to hard to oversell it and can makes it harder to meet expectations. It's a chill, tranquil day in the cloud forest with some quick thrills of Ziplining in the beginning.
We had the absolute best time on this tour, it was everything we hoped for and more! We started with the pick-up right from our hotel, and travelled to the National park. Our morning was ziplining, truly no words for our how amazing and fun this was! We then had a very tasty lunch included. The gondola ride was after lunch and was so peaceful riding through the rainforest. We saw some birds and stunning scenery while our guide taught us facts about the area. After that we went on a 45min walk through part of the forest to see some of the exhibits. Highly recommend this tour! All of our guides were super professional and friendly. An unforgettable day!
It was the 1st time I experienced zip lining. A great way to celebrate ones 72nd birthday. Lots of fun..nothing to be scared about. It's not to do if you have trouble walking up any steep inclines, have a bad back or heart condition. The quiet tram ride tour was relaxing and serene. The nature hike was also nice. I will say our tour guide was excellent with information and looked after us all day. Lunch was included and the food was very good. Nothing not to like. The only negative part was this. It is advertised as 6 in 1. Well, the zip line and Tram were 2. There were 2 nature hikes. One about 1- 1/2 hrs and one about 45 min. ..So that is #'s 3 and 4. On the path on the 45 min. walk there is a small area with about 12 glass terrariums with a few snakes and or frogs.. That's what they call #5. Further down the path we stopped into a small cage like atrium with some butterflys. That's what they call #6. Overall..its a nice and relaxing way to spend a day. Note: Nov. To Feb. is the dry season. Had we gone during the rainy period it would not have been miserable and not a fun time for us..Yeah, I know..it's a rain forest..but spending hours treking through or zip lining in the rain forest is not that appealing..plus an hour or so driving both ways. We did give a $10.00 donation to look at 4 rescued sloths. They took about 30 pictures of us gearing up and zip lining that they email to you for $40.00. We declined. They also take a picture of you on the tram upon your return. A 5x7 is $10.00. The gift shop..needless to say, is very expensive. Nothing you couln't find at the duty free A/P shops or elsewhere for less.
Pick up good and it’s a bit of a drive out to the National Park. Safety is priority on the zip lines. It’s a nice get away out of the city. Beautiful scenery and facility. Recommend
The only thing I regret is not getting the go pro. Staff was awesome, the experience was better. Zip lining was definitely the highlight, followed by the food. I got the “meal of the day” and it was delicious. My wife got the gallopinto, and loved it. The tram was beautiful, we saw a pelican, an orange snake, some mystery birds and lots of butterflies (including a clear one and one that lit up). Staff was definitely amazing
Wow! Where to start?! The whole team was attentive, thorough, friendly, thoughtful, and knowledgeable but Juan-Miguel was the star! He is a trained tropical biologist and having that level of expertise with us while riding through the canopy on the tram or walking through the forest floor was invaluable. It took our relaxing gondola ride or jungle stroll to the next level. He could point out flora and fauna and pick out various bird calls which enhanced our time in Braulio Carrillo immensely. Some tips: - wear comfortable walking shoes - ask for Juan-Miguel and Moses - the photographers are fabulous, plan to get your photos/videos - wear sunscreen and bug spray It was a marvelous day and worth every penny!
This was a fun and great experience. The staff was very informative and we loved the adreno-line. The views while on it are amazing!
The guides were amazing! Even though mudslides closed some roads and there were delays the guides took time to get us safely there and back rather than canceling. The activities were awesome!
I loved the guide and the staff at the facility. The food was delicious as well. I highly recommend.
We enjoyed our visit at the park; the ziplining, aerial tram, butterfly exhibit and food were great. The zip lining satisfied my partner's need for adventure and the aerial tram allowed us some one-on-one time to talk and relax up in the clouds. I spent time at the cafeteria while he ziplined and was able to enjoy food and drinks. Diego, the manager was amazing and very helpful. Overall, it was a great experience.
The host was incredibly wonderful and knowledgeable about the history of Costa Rica 🇨🇷 and the rainforest is beautiful. Zipline was really really nice, and adventurous. Thanks for a great day and time!
At first we were a little apprehensive about doing ziplines. We had done them before and weren't too excited, but oh man am I glad that we did it. The longest one at 700 meters was absolutely amazing. There's no better way to see the jungle than being right up in the trees. Our guide was so knowledgeable about the ecosystem; he grew up not too far from there and had been with the park for 10 years. If we would have done the tram ride without him, we would have missed so much. This tour isn't far away from San Jose, about an hour ride, well worth the time. I would recommend it to any of my friends and family.
This was a fun and great experience! We had a group of 4 of us on a "siblings trip". The staff were informative and professional! I would highly recommend this excursion. We started our trip by the staff picking us up right in front of our hotel in San Jose, and briefly picked up other excursion travelers, then drove straight to the Rainforest Reserve. Our guide Fabian was extremely educational and knowledgeable while on the Aerial Tram, trails through the butterfly gardens, and terrariums. Next, we headed for the ziplines and it was amazing. Our zipline instructors Juan, Dennis, and Adrian were so welcoming, professional, and kind. I have been on several ziplines in the US and abroad, however it was the first time for my siblings. The instructors reassured our safety and made this such an enjoyable and adrenaline-filled experience. I will surely visit this place again once I return to Costa Rica!
Our tour driver, was super nice and friendly , very knowledgeable of everything to relay to us the visitors! We were able to see and experience many wonderful animals, flora, and history of the Rain Forest it's a place you must visit! Thank you so much a most fantastical day! Pura Adrenalina in Canopy expierience..
I never leave reviews. I believe people will have their own experiences regardless. I must say, this excursion was a blast. We opted for hotel pickup (though we had a rental) which is a grand choice if traveling from afar (San Jose). The employees and tour guides were very nice, professional, and knowledgeable. It rained a bit while we were on the tram, so I’d highly recommend bringing a poncho just in case.
Very impressed with this park and the staff. The zip line (canopy) experience is a great choice and makes for great memories due to the onsite professional photographer.
This is a adventure. So glad we did this. Professional all around. Safety always first with instructors this was great. Just sign up you will enjoy it immensely!!!!!!!
The experience was 1st class with a guide the entire time. Safety is also a priority; zip line guides had 27 years experience and built the park! Wildlife is abundant and facilities are clean and comfortable! Don’t hesitate on this experience!
Good trip. The zip lining was very fun and the snake and frog enclosure was also very good. We saw a toucan flying over which was cool. On the cart which goes over the rain forest canopy, it was difficult to see any animals however the views are good.
We were in Costa Rica a short time with an 8 year old child so we wanted to experience as much as possible from San Jose. This package succeeded at that! Being the closest ziplane/jungle trip, it was great! The tour guide picked us up on time, spoke English well and answered lots of questions. Very informative along the trip there and during the tours. All the attractions of the package were great. The zip line team was very friendly and we always felt safe. While we took our own video and photos, there’s options for GoPros rentals, drone footage purchases, and professional photos purchases. We did the later. Everyone spoke English well and we had so much fun. Lockers are available for a tiny fee. Clean bathrooms, gift shop, and some great LONG zip lines with amazing views. Depending on your time of year dictates rainfall, what's in bloom, and animals you'll see. We saw a sloth, bullet ants, tapirs, but no hummingbirds. To top it off, I left my personal GoPro attached to my harness and realized it an hour after returning to our hotel. I coordinated with them and they returned before we left! Much appreciated. Thanks Rainforest Adventures! The only downsides, if any, was lunch was tasty but just ok. I know it’s not America, but the roads and driving was rough. We always felt safe but it was a windy and bumpy trip to and from. We fully recommend this!
I loved this tour. It was well worth the month. I was picked up at my San Jose Hotel and driven about an hour to the rainforest. First, we did zip lining. The guides were friendly and knowledgeable and I felt safe the entire time. It is a very beautiful area to be zip-lining through. I paid an extra fee to rent the helmet with a GoPro and was able to buy the videos afterwards. They also had a photographer taking photos which I was also able to purchase. After zip lining, there was a air tram that took us through the rainforest. This was a pleasant way to see the beauty of the rainforest. Then, we had a lunch of chicken, salad, rice, pasta and vegetables. Finally, the guide took me on a nature walk. My favorite part was the butterfly garden. Overall, this was a fantastic tour and I would recommend it to anyone who wants to explore the Barulio Carrillo area in an efficient and exciting way.
We had an excellent experience with 11 zip lines- the last , "Adreno-line" being scary but able to work up to with the very professional staff. Our new friends on the tour told us on starting AdrenoLine they would see us "on the other side" but we took it jokingly another way.The rest of the tours fun and educational.
This was the best part of our Costa Rica trip. Zip line was amazing. Totally, there were 7 zip lines, the last one, Adrena-Line, being the longest which was about 700 meters. Our zip line instructor Juan and his comrade seemed very professional with the way they handled the zip lines. Next, it was Butterfly garden. Never have I seen so many butterflies at once in one place. Then, it was herpetology section. Since I am afraid of snakes, I stayed far(although they were in boxes). Our guide, Jordan was very informational. He then took us to the birds section and finally Aerial Tram which although was long but good. We saw white hawk and rain forest stretch which was truly incredible. Not to forget the food. We did breakfast and Lunch here. Both were very delicious. Our server David was really nice. Sometimes the people who you experience the place with make it memorable and that's what I think made this place more special. The hospitality and the warmth of the people working here can never be forgotten. I would surely visit this place once again when I am in Costa Rica.

I saw the reviews and believed it would be a great tour, but I did not like it at all. First, the package did not mention that there is a possible locker fee if you're doing the zipline. I have been on other zipline tours, and they never charge extra for locker fee. The locker fee is only 3, but I hate unexpected fee for services after paying so much for the tour and transportation. Second, the gear for the zipline smelled pretty bad. It smelled like others' sweat. I didn't want to put it on, but I had no choice. Third, the service at the lunch was okay. I waited for a long time to complete my request. I wasn't sure if he got it, but the server wasn't around. So, I can't check with him either. Fourth, the tram tour is an hour and twenty minutes long. It was so slow and exhausting to be on it. Lastly, the most important thing is that the tour guide does not speak English very well. Even though I could tell that he tried very hard to share facts of the wild animals, I felt bad that I could not understand his English due to his accent and some incorrect pronunciation. I appreciated that our guide worked very hard to make our tour great. I have so much more to share. The different gardens are not as clean as the other gardens I visited. If this tour is the first tour I have been on, I may have better experiences.

Our family of 6 ranging in ages from 9-50 loved this tour. The tour guides were great, and they told us about lots of different things about the country, people, Braulio Carrillo National Park, etc.. as we were traveling. We had Spanish and English speaking people on the tour, and the guide switched between the two and told us all about everything. We really enjoyed the aerial tram and the zip lining! Our daughter who is nine did not want to go ziplining, but she loved it! The guides helped her to feel comfortable and to have a great experience.
Our guide Jimmy was very knowledgeable, funny, and he was trilingual (Spanish, English, German). It was raining much of the day, but the Zipline experience was fun, particularly for those of us with little experience. Even my 82 year old father in law managed to enjoy it. Very pleasant staff at the park. Good lunch buffet. The tramway was fun and instructive. Did the butterfly garden, serpentarium, frog and toad exhibit. My wife and my mother in law got to do the trails. Comfortable transportation. Long day, but well worth it!

Ok as someone with serious height and depth phobias it was a struggle to book and the only thing that kept me was the fact that I pasted the refund deadline. Leading up to the zip-lining part I was terrified but I had came to Costa Rica solo on a mission to be spontaneous and adventurous. After the initial nervousness of the taking the first step off the platform, I had an amazing time. Once I started zip-lining a calmness took over my body and I was able to look around and enjoy the moment. This is credited to the staff that were oh so comforting and understanding. Also the photography, I'm really bad with names, she was the sweetest. Also not once did I ever scare about the safety ness, it was double-lined and harnessed securely.

So if anyone is like me scared of rollercoasters and etc. but want to face your fears. I think this is the experience for you. Now I will not sell a fairytale. The lines get longer and higher being that there are 11 but as you conquer one line you feel better and better. I never thought in a million years I would do something like this, I'm still surprised. One last thing, anyone who does this please rent a helmet with the gopro. I was fortunate to do so and it was amazing to have the footage of this once in a lifetime experience. Peace and love to the good folks at Rainforest Adventures.

We spent a week in Costa Rica and this was our favorite tour. I thought we had to choose a few of the adventures but the guides were organized and lead us through all of them. The aerial tram was about 80 minutes long but it did not drag. Our guide was knowledgeable and made the entire tram ride enjoyable. It is amazing the differences in flora and fauna in each of the levels of the rainforests. This tram tour took us through 3 of the 4 different levels. With an expert tour guide, you notice the little things around you.

The absolute highlight was the zip lining, hands down. We took our children with us, 5 years and 9 years old. We were afraid they would be too scared as once you start on the series of zip lines, there is no turning back. They did wonderfully and LOVED it. The views were incredible and while some were crazy long in distance, truly spectacular. While you may be scared and focusing on the line, take the time and look around. Zip lining through a rain forest is an incredible adventure. Such beauty and from such a different perspective.

I liked the van that took us to the meeting point was only 8. At times, they may try and cram 12 people in a van which makes the trip unbearable but this was great. A must do while in Costa Rica!!
