Our tour guide, who reminded us of Gilligan with a mustache, was hilarious while at the same time very educational. If you want to know about coffee and taste some along the way, this is the tour for you. The 4 instead of the 5 has to do with the terribly long time we spent getting there (1.5 hours) and the way back to our hotel (2 hours). It would have been nice to know this beforehand.

Itinerary
Our guests are welcomed in an area surrounded by gardens where they can relax while enjoying our gourmet coffee. To understand the coffee cultivation process, what better way to visit our seedlings, where the experience begins, guided by experts, with an approach to the seed that gives rise to the whole process, followed by a tour through its different stages of growth until it becomes a plant ready to be transplanted to the coffee plantation. The tour continues to our toaster plant, where you will learn about the characteristics that an expert taster looks for when choosing the perfect grain to toast; You will share with our guides the experience of roasting a coffee sample, and you will directly perceive the changes that coffee bean undergoes during this process, until you finish with that delicious aroma of freshly roasted coffee. Once comfortably seated in our amphitheater, visitors are ready to enjoy a demonstration of cupping. This part of the visit reaffirms our passion for coffee and the careful process involved in each of the stages, to achieve that gourmet quality drink.

We traveled to Costa Rica a day early to join an organized tour, but had an extra day before joining that tour. Our friend had never visited a coffee plantation so I suggested this particular tour and was pleasantly surprised when it turned out to be the same site when we did a ship excursion as part of a 2004 Panama Canal cruise. Husband now has mobility issues, but he was still able to walk the well laid out paths. There was plenty of seating along the way. Our guide knew EVERYTHING about the production of coffee -- she was very lively and animated. The various displays were in English/Spanish -- everything was really well presented. The included lunch was filling. Very nice gift shop as well as a bakery with what looked like yummy goodies.
The Britt Coffee Farm is beautiful! Luis was our tour guide & he's fantastic - Very knowledgeable and has a great sense of humor! The cafe was great & the gift shop has lots of good options to choose from - good samples of coffees, chocolates & brittles. A stop by the butterfly garden is also a must. I highly recommend this tour and would take it again!
Fabulous tour guide! He was very funny, knowledgeable and interactive with the group. Would rate him 10/10!
What a wonderful time! The food was amazing! The plantation tour was informative and our tour guide feel like part of our crew. You will get to taste several different roasts which were all amazing served black.
Learned alot about coffee in Costa Rica. Enjoyed the tour. It was a nice and convenient location near our hotel.
It’s very educational and the coffee was delicious . The tour guide made it fun and he was very interactive .
Apa our guide was wildly engaging and made for an educational and fun tour. The tour was well organized. We learned about every aspect from seed/sprout to roasted and packaged. Apa took many questions and was happy to share his wealth of knowledge. The lunch was delicious. I would do it all again.
Easy and informative enough for all ages. We are 82 and had no trouble with the minimal walking. Guide was outstanding!
Informative and amusing tour by Charlos. We found out a lot about coffee production and we had a lesson in sniffing and tasting 😊
We had a wonderful experience at the Britt coffee plantation tour. Our tour guide Luis was knowledgeable and very friendly. He made it interesting to learn about coffee and dispelled some misinformation . He shed new light into how coffee was grown and how the inter actions of weather, soil, environment and luck go to obtain a great product !
Coffee tour was great! But the transportation provided by the tour was not reliable. The transportation arrived an hour after the scheduled pickup time. I had to call to verify if they were even still coming because we were not informed they were running late.
The coffee tour was pretty cool. I went with a bunch of people from around here, and the guides were nice enough to do the tour in both English and Spanish. The only downside was that it started an hour later than what TripAdvisor said, and they didn't provide transportation like they said they would. But besides that, the tour itself was really fun.
We really enjoyed this tour, the information was Interesting and lush grounds and flowers were so beautiful. Every step from planting , harvesting, and roasting explained and Luis was funny while sharing the details. The meal was delicious. Coffee was excellent.
Great experience of how coffee is made and learning how coffee is harvested and processed. Learning the history and origins was intriguing.
Highly recommended! The 11am group tour was informative and highly entertaining. Probably the most entertaining tour I’ve ever had! We also did a private tour at 8:30am just with Luis, which I highly recommend. We visited a plantation and he walked us through all the interesting details of how coffee is farmed and the history of it. Luis was amazing and you should definitely do this tour!
I recently took the Britt Coffee Tour with my wife and two daughters, and despite being caught in the rain, it was a wonderful experience. The tour was informative and engaging, offering insights into the coffee-making process from bean to cup. The lush plantation setting was beautiful, even in the rain, and added a unique charm to the experience. Our guide was knowledgeable and friendly, making the tour enjoyable for both adults and kids. Overall, it was a delightful and memorable adventure.
Great time had by all! We learned a lot, guides were funny and knowledgeable, coffee was delicious, and lunch was great! Highly recommend.
I liked everything about our tour. It was well organized: transportation, presentation, coffee tasting, lunch. Our guide was awesome - so funny and entertaining. I strongly recommend this tour.
Amazing tour to say the least. The tour guide was informative, engaging, and comical the entire tour. I now know how to drink coffee the correct way and understand the coffee process from seed to cup. Lunch was incredible as well. Highly recommend experience.
Our tour guide was amazing. Funny, knowledgeable. Butterfly room was fun. The lunch was good and the coffee was fabulous.
Our tour leader put on an excellent performance and I really learned something on the tour. The weather was beautiful and we stocked up at the store. A very nice two hours or so.
It was well organized. The tour guides were good but not hilarious as some have indicated. The lunch was so- so. Chicken dry.
Our tour guide was amazing. Her name is Chos and she was theatrical, charming, and very entertaining. The tour was excellent. I had a great time. The lunch was quite good. Still I feel it was way too much money for what you get. I think they should charge $45 per person. Everyone buys coffee beans and they make a ton of money from sales. I just don’t think it’s worth the price
Wow this absolutely exceeded any expectations could have had! The grounds are stunning and the tour itself is not only informative, but SO fun! The guides were so fun and funny, they made the whole experience a blast! There was lots of coffee to be tasted which was wonderful, and they made the whole experience interactive. I can’t express enough how awesome this was! If you are looking to book a coffee tour THIS is a must! We stayed after for lunch, and the food was good, we also pursued the butterfly garden as well.
The Britt tour exceeded our expectations. A pair of of hilarious tour leaders gave demonstrations, and cracked jokes. The amazing Britt coffee garden has dozens of coffee bushes labeled from different regions. Banana trees were all around with ripening bananas. It was an English language tour. Excellent lunch is provided. We went to a coffee plantation on the day before so it made the Britt tour even better for us.
Guides were funny and interactive. You try the coffee with no sugar (bring 2 packet of sugar if you don't drink it black). The place is small so it's a quick tour.
Our guide was amazing spoke many languages was funny extremely acknowledged and the store and plant was well worth the price
It was only us on the tour for pickup which was great. The tour guide/driver was very friendly. The tour was good they tried to translate for us the information, gave a tour of the factory and the process of coffee, gave samples of different coffee and we had lunch. The food was good.
You can not visit Costa Rica and not visit a coffee farm. We were lucky to be a small group as September is the rainy season with not so many tourists. Maria and Chalo really impressed us. They are full of fun and knowledgeable and know everything about coffee. We had a great time!
Both guides were very entertaining. They even got my wife, who NEVER drinks coffee to drink and enjoy the coffee….plus lunch included was a bonus!
The guides were very informative in a humorous way and made it a great tour even though we were met by a brief thunderstorm
I have done many coffee tours in Costa Rica, even though I'm not a big coffee drinker I have to say this was the most entertaining and organised one to date and the staff at Britt were so accommodating It doesn't happen now but it reminded me of the first time I flew through SJO everything had cheese in it and being allergic to dairy I was struggling to get any lunch when a man at Britt offered to make something there and then for me and that's what happened here, as I wasn't able to eat the included lunch, an alternative was made Great customer service suggests a great company Definitely recommended
Great tour! Excellent lunch! Will go back to the restaurant for lunch when we go back to Costa Rica!
Loved the tour! Very good coffee and will recommend to friends. Tour guides were hilarious. Thank you!!!
Had a fun time at the coffee tour. It was very informative and we got to taste different coffees. We enjoyed walking around and visiting the butterfly garden.
The manager at the desk was most kind given that our bus was delayed. The tour young lady was sweet and most informative. Her English was quite good. We saw, we tasted, we were taken all over the site and garden. We were taken into the front of the factory and given more tasting and history. This is a most complete experience. Thank you ! A must do.
A fun and educational tour. Thought I knew a lot about coffee growing. But this tour was both informative and funny. Our two hosts could have their own tv show. They were great.
We called and made a reservation over the phone, when we arrived they did not let us come inside because there was no history of a reservation for twelve people being made. They didn’t handle the situation well and had poor customer service!
We really enjoyed the very informative tour. If you like coffee, you will like this educational experience. We learned so much that we didn't know about coffee. The tour guide was first rate. Friendly and professional with a wealth of knowledge. The restaurant was very good too. We enjoyed ourselves immensely.
This tour was amazing. I’ve learned so much with our tour guy Luis. The lunch was amazing 😋. Highly recommend doing this tour if you are visiting Costa Rica. Pura Vida
Great for anyone who loves coffee and wants to learn about the history, the travels, and the processes of coffee. The tour guide was absolutely delightful; you could really tell that he truly loves coffee and what he does!
Great information about coffee and hysterical of Costa Rica. Without mask it would have been more informative. This is not against the Britt company it’s against the useless rules they have to follow. Our guide dit his best. He was great.
The trip was organized by the hotel tour operator. It was not a working plantation but only a small coffee beans roasting facility and was closed the day we visited. The whole coffee growing, harvesting, sorting, drying and roasting was demonstrated by a guide. The lunch after the tour was good though.

What an experience! The tour was fun, informative and the coffee was really good.

The place is very cozy and nice. The tour is very pleasant and with very good information, with the opportunity to taste various types of coffee. Our tour included lunch, pretty good too. They have the store with very good assortment of coffee and gifts. The cafe offers drinks, meals and chocolates, with a beautiful presentation. Be sure to visit the place with time and enjoy the estate and its surroundings, we loved the area with the butterflies.
An amazing tour, excellent combination between learning and fun! Carlos and Luis were excellent guides, delicious food and service to all my family excellent! Thank you Eileen and Jesus for the Recommendation!
He enjoyed explaining the history of coffee, how to grow it, and how to roast it. It's a great value tour with tastings and lunch included.
Experiencia muy entretenida,, aprendimos mucho del café. El guía muy divertido y con gran conocimiento.
Incredible experience, the guides are very good, friendly. They make the tour very pleasant for all participants.
