The guide was very informative and passionate about his tour. He was very friendly and I learned a lot about the coffee plantation. I recommend this tour

Andrew kept the perfect pace and information flow as we toured the fields and processing facility. He was easy to understand, conversational and glad to answer questions for our group of four. Our tour concluded with a hands-on coffee brewing and tasting. We learned so much about the culture and the process! A great morning, a true value, and we enjoyed the community of Turrialba. Taking home a vandula to brew our own coffee too.
Andrew fue lo mejor!!! He was very knowledgable and friendly, was bilingual and made everyone feel included. It was a great value and a beautiful walk with lots of information each step of the process.
We had a great tour from César. He told us on the insides of the coffee and how it is production looks like. It was really good and interessant and we would suggest it to everyone. Same for the lunch that we added to the tour!
Fantastic experience visiting the coffee plantation and factory with the great guide Cesar. Before that we had an amazing waterfall visit thanks to Andrew. What a great guy! Delicious lunch at the hacienda. A must during your holiday in Costa Rica!
We had an amazing experience at Aquiares Coffee Tour — without a doubt the best coffee tour I’ve done in Costa Rica. Andrew, our guide, was absolutely spot on. I’ve done a few tours around the country, but his knowledge and passion really stood out. He didn’t just explain the coffee process in detail, he also shared fascinating insights about the town’s history, which made the whole experience even more special. It was my partner’s first time visiting Costa Rica, and he left with the best vibes, a deeper understanding of the culture, and of course, some fantastic coffee. We finished the tour with great coffee and even better chats, which made it feel very personal and welcoming. A big thank you to Andrew and the team at reception for making us feel so valued throughout the visit. Pura Vida from Ireland 🇮🇪
This was a great tour thanks to our guide Andrew. He was very knowledgeable and took us on a short walk which included some of the local town history, the coffee plantation, some of the wildlife, locals and the coffee processing plant itself. His dry humour and his passion for the coffee harvesting kept us fully engaged throughout - well worth a visit.
Excellent, fascinating, instructive
Informative and entertaining tour of this coffee plantation and community. Andrew was an excellent guide - and we have had a lot of guides in our eight weeks of travel - and this was a highlight.
This was such an amazing tour. Our guide Andrew was incredibly nice and so knowledgeable. We learned so much and had a great time doing it. We also tried the best coffee we ever have in our life. Andrew also gave great recommendations for restaurants in Turrialba, and even gave us a recommendation for the best beach in Puerto Viejo (which is where we were going next). Thank you Andrew and Aquiares Coffee for an incredible experience.
This tour was such a great experience! It gave us a unique perspective to coffee farming, processing, and exportation. We have a much better understanding of all the work that goes into our morning cup of coffee. Aquiares is not just a brand - it is a culture and a community. Andrew was a great guide to the history, agronomy, production in the factory and he really connected with each member of the tour. The tasting was delicious and I learned how to brew a better cup of coffee.
Andrew was super informative and also made everything fun and entertaining.
Very varied. Church, viewpoints, coffee processing. Quite a steep short walk into the plantation so not for the less mobile.
Aquiares Coffee was an absolutely wonderful experience. Andrew, our tour guide, was fantastic. He was extremely knowledgeable, engaging, and informative. The walk through the farm was beautiful, with stunning views, and he did a great job explaining the entire coffee process in a way that was easy to understand and interesting for all ages. He went above and beyond for the kids by making hot chocolate for them, which they loved, and even let them sit on a horse. It was such a special touch that made the tour memorable for our whole family. We finished the visit at the café, and the food was delicious, a perfect way to end the experience. Turrialba is a gorgeous area that is not overly touristy, with lush landscapes and amazing views everywhere you look. I highly recommend Aquiares Coffee to anyone looking for an authentic, family friendly, and unforgettable experience in Costa Rica.
Great tour to get an insight behind the coffee production not just from Costa Rica! Andrew was a great guide and made us feel at home
We had a wonderful experience learning about the history of one of first coffee farms in Costa Rica. Our guide was informative and very engaging. We walked the fields, explored where coffee bean processing takes place, and visited the historic church. The tour ended with a brewing demonstration and tasting of several coffees. I highly recommend this tour!
Andrew was a wonderful tour guide and he taught us so much about the town and church and the coffee farming/milling/serving processes. This is a definite don't-miss experience for anyone visiting the area!
Was excellent tour. Much deeper than customary. In depth, private, walk thru plantations fan the factory where you see the ins and outs of the coffee making process. Kids enjoyed it as did parents. One of better yours we had
We really enjoyed it. Walked through the fields, then watched the processing (fermentation, drying) and tasted some coffee too. It over ran by an hour, so we had to rush afterwards. The mill is very loud so perhaps the description would be better suited before and after. It was very interesting though and after felt much more connected to the land, nature and people involved in coffee making.
We had such a wonderful time walking the beautiful grounds that are so carefully cared for and to learn so much about the complexity of making a good cuppa. We also had lunch and the farm house and grounds are definitely worth the visit - helping us step back in time and to appreciate a people’s tenacity and resilience in making coffee so ubiquitous today. Andrew our guide was very knowledgeable, personable and taught us so much - we are never going to drink coffee the same again!
Andrew our guide really made this experience special. He is quite knowledgeable and has a great sense of humor. He has a calming presence. The tour isn’t just about coffee. It’s also about the fauna, wildlife, history and culture of the region and country. We learned a lot about what it takes to bring a cup of coffee to our morning breakfast table. The new cafe they built at the facility is also quite nice. Would highly recommend this tour and hopefully you get Andrew as your guide.
What a great local experience! Our guide, Andrew, took us through the whole process of growing and making coffee. You get to do a nice easy hike, see the inner works of the Beneficio (processing plant) and then get to enjoy some fantastic traditionally made coffee. If you really want to understand just how hard it is to grow and harvest coffee beans - this tour is for you!
Amazing trip and guide! We had so much fun and great to see the whole process and meet some of the people working there. Thank you
My partner and I went to Aquieres to learn more about the process of coffee beans. We were not disappointed! Andrew was amazing! We were met with humour, education, amazing views, and a new outlook on coffee and Costa Rica. We will never take another cup for granted. After the tour, we had three amazing cups of coffee and had the chance to guess the type of process given the flavour profiles. Strongly recommend going if you have the chance!!
It was very informative and fun. Learned a lot and the lunch was fabulous. I highly recommend this tour and we are not much on tours usually.
Very interesting and informative! Great guide, very knowledgeable and with lots of good humor ! What a work to produce our daily coffee especially if you compete with quality and not quantity - and try to work with nature instead of fighting it. We should drink our coffee with much more respect and gratitude.
Excellent experience. Very informative and interesting. Manuel our guide was very personable and educated us about the history and some of the new developments in the coffee growing industry in Costa Rica.
Amazing tour of a coffee plantation. Our tour guide Andrew was super informative and very lovely, and we enjoyed chatting with the other family on the tour. The climb up through the garden to then look down on the factory was beautiful, and the coffee was delicious of course!
We really enjoyed the Coffee Tour. Our guide Andrew is Nixe, funny and knows how to teach us about coffee and the importance for the community.
Our wonderful guide Memo led us through the beautiful community and coffee plantation, where we learned about local history and all aspects of the coffee growing process. Muchas gracias!
Recomended for all. The guide was really kind and flexible, open to questions and whit quick answers. The tour was an overview of the cofee makiing process fromthe beggining till rhe end even with specialty tasting.
This was the best part of our vacation! We booked this tour last-minute, and towards the end -- we didn't know what to expect, but were blown away!! Andrew was incredible. He was helpful, kind, educated, and answered all the questions. He is a GEM! I cannot wait to go back and visit him and the town of Turrialba.
Fascinating tour and great coffee. Andrew was a wonderful guide - very friendly, knowledgeable and fluent in English :)
We really recommend this tour. We had the chance to be the only two persons within the group and had a more than 2 hours fantastic tour with Andrew. He started explaining the history of the region while putting Aquiares in this context. We had a short tour in the property and the plantation. We then moved to the industry and how the coffee is being processed, and finished with a tasting of natural and honey coffee from the farm. Andrew is very knowledgeable on coffee topics and we could ask all the questions we had.
Very informative tour. The tour guide has a lot of knowledge of coffee making. We were astonished how many steps are necessary for getting a cup of coffee. Highly recommended to take THIS tour.
A lot of good and new information. The tour guide was from Athens, Georgia but was a Tico and did a great job!!!!! Athens had a great reply to my question about the business being Carbon Neutral. Excellent job.
An amazing tour where you learn a lot about coffee. The guide Andrew is very passionate and enthusiastic. He guided us through the complete process and told us so many thing, you think differently next time you drink coffee. Now coffee tastes so much better then before. Overall a very good experience and worth while to have this experience as part of your vacation to Costa Rica
great & interesting tour! enjoyed it a lot! the tour guide was really friendly & took us from the local church to the coffee hill and through the coffee plant
The Aquiares coffee tour was one of the highlights of our Costa Rica trip! So neat to visit the oldest and largest coffee estate in the country and to learn about their high quality (Rainforest Alliance certified) process. We loved visiting the local Aquiares community, and the coffee was ah-mazing. Andrew was an awesome tour guide too. He took our favorite picture from the entire trip of us standing in front of the beautiful Tree of Life. Highly recommend Aquiares Coffee tour!
The tour was amazing as Cesar and Andrew explained a lot about the process of coffee from the nusery to the shippment as well as the history of the hacienda and the people that work here. The coffe tasting at the and was very delicous and a great final after two hours. We were in a small group - just two cuples - so thete was plenty of time for questions. We would recommend to do this tour when you are in the area.
It was a wonderful experience. Our guide took us through the whole process, very interesting even for the non coffee lovers. He gladly answered all our questions. The little village of Aquiares and the landscape around the farm is astonishing and couldn’t say enough about the quality of the coffee, simply extraordinary
We had a great tour at Aquiares, just outside Turriabla. Ceaser was our most excellent guide. He spoke nearly perfect English and was both interesting and entertaining. He certainly has a thorough grasp of the coffee business. The tour was certainly more than 2 the advertised hours but worth every minute. It was not just about coffee but embraced the development and culture of the Aquiares Community. Most interesting (in a hugely interesting visit) was to see the coffee tasters doing the tasting. Many thanks too to Manuel who was engaging and informative.
Very informative tour that covered all aspects of coffee production. Had a wonderful time. The property is stunning and the coffee is amazing. Thanks so much!
It was an amazing trip through the process of coffee. From the planting to tasting the finished coffee. The whole process is explained in detail and understandable. Our guide was friendly and open to all questions. He really lives for his coffee and you can feel it. Since we visited Costa Rica in the off season it was just the two of us, so we had a "private" tour. We really recommend this tour.
We received the history of the town, an understanding of the growing/harvesting/processing of coffee, & tasted 2 types of coffee processes.
Our tour with Tyrone was super nice! He didn’t rush any at all and made a lot of time for us in his busy schedule. He has a deep knowledge of nature and shared tons of information about coffee plants, sustainable agriculture and the involvement of the company in the community. The small tasting in the end was tasty and more than generous!
Amazing tour !! Aquiares coffee farm is located in a really beautiful area. The guide was fantastic and we learned so much. Only locals work there, it’s a real community. Huge consciousness of the environment as well. I loved that tour and would recommend to anyone !
We arrived 2 hours early at the building of Aquiares and our guide invited us to come with him to the Aquiares Hacienda for the time in between. There we could rest from our journey at this beautiful place and were served fresh coffee which they didn’t want us to pay for. Our tour was brilliant: coincidentally it was just the two of us for the tour at 2pm. So to say we had a private tour. It was very interesting and informative and entertaining and authentic. Our guide was very likeable and took all the time we needed for the questions so that in the end we were there for nearly 3 hours instead of the 2 it usually takes. Something that might distinguish the tour at the Aquiares facility is that they both have automated processes for the fully washed beans they produce but they also produce small batches of specialty coffee where they ferment the beans or take them through specific handmade processes. So one can see the whole bandwith of coffee production and all steps in the process. All in all it was a great experience and probably the best tour we had so far in our stay. I can totally recommend it.
We had an amazing tour with William. Highly recommend him - he was very knowledgeable and super friendly. Answered all our questions and provided us with interesting facts about the coffee farm!
Excellent tour (and tour guide Nicole). Very informative and full of fascinating details about the history of coffee and culture surrounding it. We also had excellent weather, so it made everything that bit nicer. On the down side, some extra safety features could be added to the steps and railings going up to the Mirador, as my father slipped and fell down. This was more circumstantial, but still a point to make everything extra safe. Five out of five however!
