4 Days Tour Costa Rica: Tortuguero, Arenal, Monteverde, M Antonio

Horrible experience from the very beginning. The price on their website is not the price of the tour, not even close!! They advertiste $400 ppand charged me $850 pp. They never understood what I wanted, but they sent an itinerary that I finally agreed on. Their internal organization is a mess. So many things happened, the cherry on top was I asked if I could pay the 50% balance (I had already given a 50% deposit) with a PayPal link whe. I get to Costa Rica. Well one person told me yes no problem and then the next day someone else says noooo it’s only cash. They ended up CANCELING my tour one day before!!! Not even enough time to find another tour company.!!! This company is a joke! Too many issues. NOT RECOMMENDED!!

Costa Rica is a unique experience where it has all the things which we crave to travel for. For example beaches, mountains, landscape etc..

We booked this 4 day tour a few weeks prior to visiting Costa Rica. Aye Tours Travel Costa Rica organized everything for us and kept open communication with us. Our guide Luis was extremely professional, very informative, he pointed a variety of wild life along the way and was very good with the kids. Luis was able to offer us different options along the way, he was flexible and accommodating with our requests. Our driver Oscar was very safe on the roads, we felt secure at all times. It's important to note that there is a lot of driving involved during this four day trip, which allows you to see so much of this beautiful country.

Absolutely loved our experience with the tour guides! They were beyond friendly and incredibly helpful, making every part of our tour memorable. From the vibrant Caribbean coast to the stunning Pacific shores, the tour's breadth was simply breathtaking, covering the rich diversity of landscapes and cultures from east to west. Their explanations at each spot were enlightening, adding so much depth to our journey. And let's talk about the local gems they introduced us to! From navigating through charming little shops (where our language skills might have failed us) to recommending some of the most amazing local cuisine and stores, their patience and guidance truly enhanced our adventure. Plus, for those like me who appreciate the convenience and fullness of packed tours, this was an absolute dream! However, if packed tours aren't your cup of tea, I'd suggest having a chat with the tour agent before booking. They're super understanding and can provide insights to ensure you have the best experience tailored to your comfort level. Highly recommend this tour if you're looking to dive deep into the local culture with some fantastic guides by your side! 🌟

This is the worst tour company we've ever encountered. On the very first day, the itinerary changed abruptly. After visiting Tortuguero National Park, due to group scheduling reasons, some of the tourists needed to return to San Jose, which dragged us back to San Jose instead of proceeding directly to the originally planned Tabacon Hot Springs. This added several extra hours to the journey. The following day, we only spent a little over an hour at the Hot Springs, which was nowhere near enough time. We paid for a 4-day tour, so why were we subjected to group scheduling? The tour van we traveled in was the worst we've experienced. Not only was it bumpy, but the seats didn't even have headrests. With a 4-day long-distance journey involving 6-7 hours of driving each day, it was impossible to rest; we had to sit straight up, making it a nightmare. On the last day, we were supposed to go to Manuel Antonio National Park, but the travel agency claimed they couldn't secure park tickets! This was despite us booking the trip two months in advance. As a result, the guide asked us to pay out of our own pockets to visit another nearby park, costing us hundreds of dollars for admission, and we had to pay for our lunch, which was supposed to be included. To add insult to injury, the travel agency even accused us of wasting their gasoline! The place we ended up going to was much closer than the originally planned national park! Overall, the management of the whole trip was flawed. There were tourists on day trips as well as those on 4-day tours. Lunches were not prearranged, and on two occasions, we had to sit in restaurants for 2 hours before getting our meals. This directly resulted in insufficient travel time, and we arrived very late at the hotel in the evenings. As a consequence, the scheduled dinners were missed, and we had to order takeout ourselves. The tour company ultimately did not refund us for the park tickets, nor did they reimburse us for the meals they failed to provide, both lunch and dinner. The entire tour group was complaining!

Had a really enjoyable time with my family on this trip. We got to explore a lot of Costa Rica in a short amount of time. There were many beautiful places and experiences, especially the ziplining over Monteverde (price extra). However, there are a lot of things that can be improved upon. Firstly, there is a ton of driving from place to place which ends up taking the majority of the time so be ready of that. Secondly, the tour guide, Luis was very nice but he seemed more interested getting from place to place than to explain about the location or what to see. He also kept complaining how tired or hungry he was. He oversold a lot of the experiences and struggled remembering facts about the country and had a difficult time translating. The food was decent but despite the website listing dinner included for a meal, only breakfast and lunch was included, which was a disappointment to have to pay for dinner every day. The lodgings were adequate but not always the nicest places, so expect motel style stays. Lastly, we were joined by another group who was nice but also changed the plans and made us drive extra to accommodate which was a pain. Overall an enjoyable experience but can be improved upon and would probably recommend either a longer tour with more experienced guides or focusing on one specific area.

This tour was great, our tour guide Yojhan and our driver Arturo provide the best experience in Costa Rica, the food was amazing ... zipline wassss very cool the view was perfect.

Trip was amazing! We saw beautiful Costa Rica in just 4 days without worrying about accomodation, driving, entry tickets or breakfast/lunch spots ourselves. Our tour guide Luis was also very happy to help with dinner plans and any other questions we had. Be prepared for a lot of hours on the road! We did not mind the drive since you can spot beautiful landscape/wildlife or spend time sleeping.

Glad we booked AyE for our 4 day trip though they didn’t have many reviews but they deserve a lot of high rated reviews. The quality and punctuality was top-notch. They picked us up at the airport on time. Our guide, Yojhan, spoke good English and Spanish. The van was clean and safe. They took us to all the places as promised. All we had to do was to follow their timings. Only problem was that they do not give a schedule or itineraries in advance so we were always not prepared. However, by the end of day they will give us a detailed pickup time. The hotel stays and the restaurants they took us to, was amazing. I would totally recommend them!! The roadways weren’t smooth always and glad they took us everywhere and we could rest. They stopped for toilet breaks, snack breaks, smoothie breaks, etc. One buffet wasn’t great but it was to cut-short the delay in our schedule. We didn’t get to see a lot of wildlife as advertised but we saw just one sloth and a few monkeys. Tortuguero was a little time-consuming and dehydrating but they let us rest during meals. Make sure you understand the places, schedule, get water bottles, etc.

Tour was run by a third party local company. They changed the itinerary for Day 1 without letting us know till the tour started. We’re surprised on Day 4 they even couldn’t secure the entrance tickets to a national park because the park was overcrowded that day. We had to settle for some uninteresting activities

The tour is completely misleading. The operator has a zero communication prior to trip. Everything they posted like on location hotels is a big lie. They took me to San Jose every day, what a waste of time. The hotels provides are 2 stars at the best. Even motel 6 is much better. There is not a dinner included for any day all though the tour operator says one dinner included. The guide yojhan is the most arrogant, rude guide I have seen in my life. The guy can’t even speak basic English but has the attitude of a mammoth. His manager Stephan was another arrogant guy to deal with. I felt I wasted my four precious days and hated my trip with all the bet and switch attitude. In the middle of the tour, the operator threaten us to cancel and gave us the option to deviate in the middle of nowhere. Whatever description that is available on their tour page is complete deception and false narrative. I will not recommend this tour operator to anyone. Please look for other best operators to avoid disappointment in Costa Rica and other places.

Overall, I'd give this trip a 2 star. This is mainly because the Viator website has some inaccuracies in the description and you will not go to some things that are advertised (do not depend on the schedule on here because it is inaccurate). The problem is, the driver does not give you a full agenda either. You always have to ask specifically what time are we getting picked up, what's happening after etc. This is poor communication in my opinion. There is ALOT of driving, which is not the tour's fault obviously. Our driver was not particularly safe either - talking and texting while driving. He was not overly friendly either. Overall, I would recommend a tour bus or other more highly rated tours on Viator (even if shorter, you can do 2 other tours on there if you're going for a longer trip) and not this tour company.

We truly enjoyed this trip and our guide and driver, Lesly and Jesus, were a great fit. We enjoyed the local food, lots of beautiful views on our drives and the parks were just spectacular! I got a sweet surprise for my b-day and it made my day, Lesly and Jesus went above and beyond to make it enjoyable (they make a great team!) CR is truly beautiful!

We had a wonderful time at each stop and truly enjoyed the sceneries, rides and food. Since we need to be constantly on road, it is well organized to have breaks built in the schedule. Highly recommended!

Extremely poor communication by the manager Yojhan and the office staff. When we originally booked the tour, the operator confirmed they could drop us off to the airport for our flight at 4pm at the end of the tour. When we messaged the AyE office and Yojhan, they said this was not in fact the case. When we asked how to go about this we were left on read despite the numerous messages sent and phone calls made. Had it not been for the fact we were on another AyE tour that day, we would have had no communication at all. Our tour guide on the day tour, got in contact with Yojhan who still did not give any clear directions as to what was happening with our tour. In the end, they ended up cancelling our tour without informing us, leaving us with no accommodation or anything for the next 4 days. Overall, an extremely poor experience with this tour company therefore do not recommend to anyone.

Reliable company, we took 4 days trip and added one more day " Rincon de la Vieja ", we will come back next year to visit more places, thanks Yojhan and your team for your help.

Pros: you get to see 4 gorgeous parts of Costa Rica Con: you spend 4-5 hours a day traveling by car I travelled with my two daughters ages 18 and 22. I would recommend this trip to anyone with limited time in Costa Rica. We really enjoyed all the sites, the wildlife, the food and our tour guide. Our tour guide asked what we wanted to do and catered to our needs.

We spent 4 days with Yojhan (tour guide) and Omar (Driver). Very pleasant personalities and they truly went above and beyond to made our family comfortable. Highly recommended tour, Especially the Tortuguero and Arenal legs of the trip. Choice of restaurants were great. One thing that they could improve is the choice of Hotel on last night before Manuel Antonio park visit. Highly recommended Tour.

Wow. What a trip! We only had a week in Costa Rica and wanted to cram in as much as could. This tour did that for us effortlessly. We saw so much and we had the best tour guide (Yojhan) & driver (omari). They were so lovely, enthusiastic, a good laugh & they made us feel so safe and welcomed. We had an issue with the van one day & they calmly & efficiently got a replacement van within 2 hours, offered us food/drink from the local restaurant. Always putting our safety first. All the accommodation was lovely, especially having the view of Arenal volcano from our room. The food was always great portion sizes and good quality, we never went hungry! But there is alot of driving. We are used to this as we have been backpacking several years ago so didn't bother us and we wanted to cover alot of ground in a short amount of time. So don't recommend if you're wanting alot of relaxation. But we loved every minute and yojhan & omari were just the best we could ever ask for! A trip we will never forget!

Excellent tour, everything was super coordinated, we booked at the last minute on their super secure and cheaper website. Delicious meals, super delicious breakfasts and lunches.

Acabamos comprando um outro tour com a agência, então ficamos juntos por 5 dias! E foram os melhores dias na Costa Rica. Yojhan e Huan José foram nossos guias e motorista. E como foram divertidos, engraçados, de muito conhecimento sobre o país e as regiões visitadas. Solícitos, sempre buscaram fazer todo o possível para atender ao que solicitamos. Organizados, nos levaram para comer nos melhores restaurantes e dormimos em ótimos hotéis. Não há nada, nada para reclamar. Somente agradecer e dizer que, se houvesse 20 estrelas, eu daria a agência e aos dois. A Costa Rica pode até ser um país pequeno, mas as pessoas tem um coração enorme! Muito, mas muito obrigada por todo! E principalmente, por terem feito meus dias tão felizes e divertidos.
