Loved this tour so much! Edione was our guide and he was great. The driver and lunch lady were sweet and courteous. Great meal. Say check in and we left on time. Highly recommend this company.

This stunning and unique natural habitat is home to numerous bird and mammal species, and is a great place for birdwatching and enjoying the peace of the natural environment. The first feature of the reserve that we will explore is the Rio Frio Cave, the source of the Rio Frio river and the largest cave entrance in Belize. Our next stop is the Rio On Pools, a series of shimmering natural swimming holes and rock water slides that allow for cooling relaxation and meditation. Enjoy a water massage from cascading waterfalls that run over a wide river bed and smooth granite rocks.
Take a homemade picnic lunch break at the pools followed by a short drive to our next destination, the fabulous Big Rock Falls, a 150-foot waterfall on Privassion Creek. Here, the cool spray of mist from the waterfall refreshes swimmers in the clear, deep pool below. This day of hiking, spelunking, swimming and possible wildlife watching is not to be missed!

This was a great experience and our guide amial probably not spelt correctly was fun, energetic, and knowledgeable
Thanks to Ed, we had a relaxing and pleasant journey walking through the Pine Ridge Forest Reserve and discovering its beauty. We visited the Rio Cave to understand better what it meant for the Maya in time of crisis. Afterwards, we looked forward to enjoy a dip in the Rio on Pools and at the Big Rock Falls. It was great! Our tour guide Alex was excellent, he knew a lot about the local flora, fauna and local culture. Our driver Jaheel was also very friendly and showed us round the town on the way back. The cave was amazing, the swimming spots were also great and very safe. The walk was easy, i would recommend this trip to anyone. It was nice to hear that 10% off the profits go to conserving the nature reserves too.
We had an absolutely amazing experience! If you’re a couple or a family that loves hiking, exploring, and being outdoors, this is definitely for you. It truly felt like we stepped into a different world. The tropical foliage slowly transitions into beautiful pine forests, and the waterfalls and swimming pools were stunning — even if the water was a bit cool in November. Our guide was incredible. He was so knowledgeable about the area, its history, and the biodiversity of the plants. His insights made the entire experience even better. I would highly recommend Mayawalk Tours to anyone. Their professionalism was top notch from start to finish.
We booked our tours on line and they did an excellent job of keeping us informed through email and WhatsApp.. For this tour our guide was Alex, He was very informative friendly, helpful, and making sure everyone was being taken care of. Our driver was Mr. Bol, (sorry if spelled wrong) the two were wonderful. I would highly recommend this agency. We went to 3 different places each filled with wonder. I couldn't be happier with the tours we had. Thank you Mary
We went to Mountain pine ridge forest with our tour guide, Alex. It was such a beautiful and lovely experience and Alex shared all his knowledge of the culture and nature. He was super friendly and very flexible as we were only 2 people on the tour. Therefore it also became a really personalised tour. We also went river tubing but we would definitely recommend the mountain pine ridge forest and ask for Alex!
Went on a day long birding tour with Richard from Mayawalks. He was outstanding! It was my first time birding and Richard was a wealth of knowledge, patient, and as equally excited about our experience as we were. His enthusiasm for birding was infectious. Would 100% bird with Richard and Mayawalk again!
Richard was an outstanding guide. He taught us about birds, the country and conservation efforts in the country. We saw over 50 species together and we even saw an Orange Breasted Falcon! It was an incredible experience.
we had a great time with our very nice, friendly and professional tour guide. The stair climbing was for us a little older heavy, but durable.
Fantastic day touring Mountain Pine Ridge with Emil. Hike to Rio Frio cave, the Rio On swimming pools, then more swimming at Big Rock Falls. We're not big on caves so we chose this over ATM. The Rio Frio Cave is a massive chamber but not deep at all. The hike to the cave was a little longer than expected but not at all a problem, a mile each way. Emil was very personable and very knowledgeable. Hope to see him again next time we're in Belize.
Amazing day trip with Edeoni - couldn’t recommend it more!! From the start he was super friendly, organised and informative - even letting us tag along for his breakfast to a lovely place near the office to start the day right! The cave, waterfalls and river are all beautiful and we had them practically to ourself. Edeoni was incredibly knowledgeable and we both learnt loads about everything from the birds to Belize culture. The packed lunch was also amazing and massive portion sizes! A great way to see Mountain Pine Ridge with lovely company
Our tour guide taught us so much about Belize, the pine forest, and Mayan culture. We visited Big Rock and Rio Frio Cave before taking a short lunch break at a breathtaking overlook. Lunch was delicious with chicken, rice, beans, coleslaw, and a sweet treat. They even offered us seconds! We then went to Rio on Pools to relax and sit under the waterfalls for a gentle massage. Our guide made sure we stayed safe the whole time and advised us on spots to avoid since the current and flow of the waterfall can be super strong at certain points. I had an amazing time and it was a great tour for relaxation since the driver took us to each spot and hiking was pretty easy/short except for some steeper stair spots.
This was a great change of pace. We did the ATM caves first and then this tour. I was nervous since there weren’t many reviews. I’m so glad we did this tour. First stop is a cave that you can walk around and take pics. Second and third stops you swim. I wore my swimsuit under my clothes but we did stop and there was a place to change. The two waterfall spots were beautiful! We had a group of 8 of us so much smaller group and it was a nice change from atm caves that have sooo many people. We were given as much time as we wanted at each location. It was amazing! Josiah was a fantastic guide.
Waterfalls were amazing and the kids had a blast. Go early to beat the rush but even during the busy period there were only about 30 people there. Water is refreshing and cool
We used Maya Walk Tours for this trip and we only have compliments for the company. Well organized with great customer service. Their cook also makes delicious Belizean chicken served on the trip. Our guide Chemo (Anselmo) was great. He shared lots of knowledge of local history and customs, animals, plants and agriculture. It was great to visit 3 different places on this walk, and to dip in the waterfall pools. Would love to come back and explore more of the surroundings.
It was so nice to have a stress free tour with engaging conversation from Josiah (Mayawalk Tours) our guide and driver to the Pine Ridge Forest Reserve. He knew the terrain and we would advice everyone to hire a company to take them instead of wrecking their rental. The photos he took and gave to us after will always be a wonderful memory of that trip. He was very thoughtful and took care of all our needs safety wise and included lunch during
We had an amazing time and Jason was awesome, super passionate and patient with us. We can’t wait to return to our beautiful Belize and hopeful to have Jason as our tour guide again! Thank you for the amazing experience!
It was an amazing experience swimming in the waterfalls , me and my sister had the best time. the lunch was great we had rice and beans with chicken and rum punch. Jason who was our tour guide did such an amazing job, he knows his stuff and he’s great at his job
This was everything we had hoped for: beauty, adventure, history, culture, and fun. Our guide was Anselmo, who has Mayan ancestry and shared such rich insights on the Mayan culture and Belize history as we drove from San Ignacio to the highlands. He was funny, patient, accommodating, and overall a great host. Our first stop was Big Rock Falls, which includes the biggest adventure of the trip. You climb down a set of rickety old wooden steps through the forest to get to the falls. Then the guide helps you navigate the safest way across the very slippery rocks to swim across the main pool toward the falls. The water was cold, but it was worth it to experience the beauty and peace. Anselmo was smart to make this our first stop as we had it all to ourselves. The second spot was Rio Frio Cave, a truly sacred place to visit respectfully. It is not an adventure cave; it is wide and tall, not requiring squeezing through narrow passages. Standing in the middle, you can see both ends. Again, Anselmo’s knowledge added richly to this unique site. After coming out the cave, Anselmo spread a picnic blanket on a table and set out a wonderful Belizean meal of rice and carrots and stew chicken, plus rum punch. This ultimately was the best meal I had in all my 9 days in Belize (and we ate at a wide variety of restaurants!). Our final stop was Rio On Pools, a beautiful setting for sitting and enjoying the beauty even if you don’t see like getting wet. There are changing rooms for getting in/out of your swimming attire. The roads to get to these locations are a bit of an adventure themselves. Be prepared for a rough and bumpy ride. (We loved it, but it’s not for everyone.) Even my 17-year-old said she thoroughly enjoyed every part of this excursion. Thank you, Anselmo and Maya Walk Tours!
We (me and my son) experienced a great birding tour with tour guid Francis. It was a great trip to the mountains. We saw many birds including orange breasted falcon, laughing falcon and others. Will definitely coming back to explore more of beautiful birds and a beautiful country! Highly recommending ! BR, Svetlana
We went on the Mountain Pine Ridge tour with Joshua and Julio and had an amazing time--breathtaking views of the waterfall and pools, plus a large cavern and creek that's fun to climb around and explore. We went with my mother-in-law who was 70, and she was able to reach every site on the trip thanks to our guides' patient guidance. We really could not have asked for more considerate guides--Joshua helped her down the steps to the waterfall, lending a helping hand when needed, and they laughed and joked the whole time. We had such a great experience we decided to do a second tour with MayWalk the following day--cave tubing at the Nohoch Che'en Caves Branch Archaeological Reserve.
This was my first tour in San Ignacio. Our tour guide, Francis, was great and even provided lunch with rum punch. There are 3 stops. The first is to a cave, then to the Rio pools, and finally a waterfall. There's more sitting the car than the other tours I did between the stops.
I did this tour with Paradise Expeditions and our guide Lucy was phenomenal! She has taken so much training for tourism that she has facts and stories about everything we saw all day! Most of the tour is spent driving. The road is a very rough forestry type road and it’s slow going. The cave is spectacular, the waterfall and swimming was beyond fantastic, and the 1000 ft falls is a great view. I highly recommend this tour for anyone, including families. I loved that none of the sites were crowded with people. I wish hiking had been a component, but I really enjoyed it anyway.
My trip was booked and there were four others due. They didn’t arrive but the company still run the tour with me alone. I booked this trip because I wanted to see the waterfalls and the National Park. I’m not young and a lot of hiking was not an option. I got to see fantastic views, lovely waterfalls, had a delicious lunch with a great view (and rum punch!) it was possible to go swimming but I opted out. I would certainly recommend it if you can. My guide was so very knowledgable and extremely helpful, in fact it would have been impossible without his help. If this trip is an indication of what the other trips offer you can’t go wrong.
We had a great time using Maya Walk! I don’t remember our guides name, but it was for the Rio Frio Falls, and the Rio On Pools, and the cave on November 3rd, 2019. They were all such amazing sights. We loved swimming in the Rio On pools. Our guide was awesome! When we got to Rio Frio pools, we wanted to jump off a high ledge, but at the last minute I got too scared. So he climbed all the way up with my friends, and jumped off with them. Once they finished I changed my mind and wanted to try it, and he went through the hassle of climbing back up again and jumping off with me. Then, we were talking about some of the animals we wanted to see, and he kept stopping, pulling over, and pointing out different animals for us to check off our list! He ended up spotting 6 keel billed toucans!
Great day with Daryl, he took fantastic care of the group (3), we were the only people at the pools & big rock, it was incredible! Definitely recommend.
We spent yesterday with MayaWalk Tours in pine ridge mountains. The scenery was beautiful - large cave, Rio pools. Big rock waterfall was incredible and the water was perfect for a nice swim. The staff was great and the tour was well worth the price.
We had a good time, beautiful places and very good tour guide. We really enjoyed it. I can recommend to do this during your visit in San Ignacio.
We had an absolutely fantastic time with Darryl going to Mountain Pine Ridge. Even though we were expecting a mostly nature-based tour without much information, Darryl told us so much about the history and culture of the areas. He was great and very patient with explaining things to my father, who speaks English as a second language. He also went the extra mile to make sure we were safe, going down to the cave and waterfalls with us and directing us on the exact paths to take. And Mountain Pine Ridge was just beautiful. Take a day and go!
My friend and I took this tour with Darryl as our guide. If I could give him more than 5 stars I definitely would. He was full of information about the area, wildlife and an overall pleasure to be with. So personable, patient, kind and funny too. The Rio Frio Cave, Rio Pools and Big Rock Falls were unforgettable and should not be missed. I'm so glad we did this tour!!!
My husband, school-age kids and I were referred to MayaWalk by a Belizean friend as we planned our vacation itinerary in San Ignacio. Pedro was our guide for the day as we explored Rio Frio Cave, Rio on Pools, and Big Rock Falls, and oh my gosh, did we have an amazing time! We couldn't have asked for a better, more informed, educational guide. There are so many tour agencies available in San Ignacio, but we chose MayaWalk because they were incredibly professional, had amazing reviews, and were competitively priced. The lunch provided during our tour was simply and utterly delicious home-cooked Belizean cuisine. We give our highest recommendations for anyone looking for a tour with criteria that meets our experience. You just cannot go wrong with MayaWalk Tours!
Had a wonderful day with our guide Pedro. It was just my friend and myself. He was knowledgable, patient, and a wonderful guide for a beautiful day. He showed us some cliffs to jump off and swam under the waterfall. I cannot say enough how much I love this tour company. They were prompt and on time for the three tours we did with them. Their online chat helped tremendously. Would highly recommend using them.

The road was a little bumpy but well worth seeing the Rio On Pools and Big River Falls. We were fortunate that we had a private tour but area is out a bit and not a lot of vans. Well worth the cost to do this.

Wandeling naar een grot. Daarna doorgereden naar een kamp waar we heerlijk geluncht hebben. Daarna door naar een zwemstop bij een waterval. Was erg mooi. Wel waren wij met zijn 2en en hadden we hierdoor privé tour. Tourgide was leuke vent die zich aanpaste aan onze wensen. Vind prijs kwaliteit verhouding wel vrij fors voor wat je terug krijgt.
The site is very beautiful. The visit to Rio Frio cave is interesting. However, the program also included Rio Frio basins with swimming and big rock falls. But the guide, once there, informed us that we had to choose between swimming in the pools or going downhill to see the Big Rock Falls fall. So we stayed 2h30 at the Rio Frio basins doing nothing (It's way too much)... the program was not respected, while we met visitors who had made the entire planned visit. A little tired guide? We are disappointed by this abortive excursion...
