This was so much more than we expected. We were fortunate to do this trip in October during the off season and were the only 2 people on the tour. Our guide, EZ, was fun and really knowledgeable. We enjoyed the cultural information as well as the amazing caves themselves. One of the highlights was climbing over formations to jump off the rocks into the pools below. While it was just my husband and I on this trip, we kept talking about how much our teens and pre-teen kids would have loved this. This feels like a must-do activity in the San Ignacio region

Itinerary
On our arrival to the Caves Branch site, we gear up with helmets, waterproof headlamps, and of course, our inner tubes and lifevests. We take a flat 45 minute hike through the jungle before entering one of the many cave entrances and passages that make up the cave system. We hop into our tubes and float down the river as it winds through the cave system. Carried by the gentle current, we drift into an underground world unlike any other. Floating downstream through the cave passages we learn about the geology and ancient history of the limestone cave system. We also learn about the Maya culture and the indigenous inhabitants of the area who have used the caves for ceremonial purposes for thousands of years.

10/10 would do again. This was a once in a lifetime experience I would not miss. The tubing was so relaxing and we were able to stay away from the massive cruise groups. Our guide was excellent and so was the lunch.
We had an amazing experience on our tour in San Ignacio! Israel, our guide, and Alex, our driver, were absolutely fantastic — friendly, knowledgeable, professional, and so helpful throughout the entire tour. They made the experience even more enjoyable and memorable.10/10! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ We highly recommend this company and would definitely book with them again ! Thank you, Israel and Alex ! ❤️🇧🇿
Isael was fantastic. He was incredibly knowledgeable about the local jungle flora and history during the hike, and kept a great pace that made us feel secure. On the water, he navigated the cave expertly and kept the trip fun and well-organized. Easily a five-star guide who made the excursion a highlight of our time in Belize.
Richard was the perfect guide and made our experience really special. His vast knowledge of the Mayan people and every aspect of the tour made it worth the trip one hundred times over. Anyone visiting Belize must book with MayaWalk Tours!!
The cave tubing experience with Maya Walk was the best. Our kids had a blast. They were very nice and great with the kids. They were very informative and really took care with giving us the best experience.
What an awesome experience! We did 5 different excursions in Belize and this was the most amazing. Our guides Alex and Eddy were so super knowledgeable about the everything related to the region and history. Our group ranged in ages from 9- adult. You get to tube, swim in the caves and see some artifacts.
This tour is so much fun, highly recommend. Office is in a great location, easy check in, left on time. We used MayaWalk for 3 tours and expectations were exceeded for all. The driver was safe and courteous. Terrific lunch. Great guides! Highly recommend this company.
Wow, just wow! One of the best guided tours I've ever been on. Alex and Ed are super knowledgeable, fun and easy going. We had all ages in our party from 9 to 60+ and everyone had an amazing time. Great memories made, worth every penny.
The description said you get to experience 3 caves. We only did 1. Didn't get what we paid for.
It was an amazing experience, our guide was the best, it was really intersting and with no rush, we really enjoyed the entire experience so much
We had a great experience with Maya Walk Tours. We did the cave tubing at Nohoch Che’en with Ed. Ed was an incredible guide and introduced us to the history of Belize on our bus ride over and provided all the needed information on our walk to the caves and within them. We had a short walk to the start our cave tubing adventure where we saw a few Howler monkeys and then a relaxing journey tubing through the caves and the jungle. There was an opportunity to go for a swim as well. Everything was well organized and enjoyable. The lunch was delicious. Would recommend wearing proper footwear (closed toed sandals like Keens), bringing a waterproof phone case and an extra change of clothing.
My daughter and I just finished our cave tubing tour - it was phenomenal! Eddy (tour guide) and Melvin (driver) were great ! We left early, explained a little about the area and cultures. Our lunches were pre-ordered and ready to go . Cave tubing was amazing ! Caves were a sight to be seen! Everything was handled well from start to finish ! Would recommend !
Jaser was absolutely wonderful! He was kind, knowledgeable, and accommodating. MayaWalk Tours was very helpful and professional, especially when we accidentally canceled our reservation and needed to reschedule. The hike to the cave was easy and tubing relaxing. Highly recommend if you are looking for relaxing and enjoyable activity.
Guides were friendly, professional and knowledgeable. Trip through the caves was amazing. We were disappointed that the description and photos of cave tubing on mayawalk’s website and literature includes getting out of our tubes and exploring one of the underground caverns. This didn’t happen - we just went straight through, with our tubes roped together. We saw other groups stopping to explore, so we weren’t sure why our tour didn’t include this. No explanation given. Otherwise, great trip and recommended. Easy for older people (we’re in our 60’s), There is an option we didn’t take but you can pay a small fee ($5) to not have to carry your tube the 35 min hike to the start point.
Our guide Izzy was incredibly knowledgeable as well displayed reverence for the natural surroundings as well as the Mayan heritage. A perfect blend of hiking and relaxed floating.
Absolutely amazing. We would highly recommend to anyone. Just a wonderful experience
Last minute decided to do a cave tube tour, so we walked into the MayaWalk office in San Ignacio. They were very accommodating and were able to get us in for an afternoon tour with Edeoni as our guide! He was awesome! Great guide with a ton of local knowledge and an overall just a super human being. Great tour! Cave is amazing and I highly recommend this tour with MayaWalk tours.
We spent a while looking up the different cave tubing tour options and settled on this one because it seemed a little longer and we had the time available that day. The cave we went in was really cool and I would do it again, but they only took us to one cave. We were back at our hotel by 1pm and the picnic lunch was actually lunch at a restaurant on the drive back. The rainforest was so quiet. My expectations were set by the abundant animal activity in the Costa Rican jungle, but we saw 2 vultures and a few minnows. The caves are really unique, but Im not sure it matters which specific tour tou sign up for.
The trip itself is excellent but the the guide, Christian was outstanding! He made the experience informative and exciting. The driver, Alex, was top notch as well. I highly recommend this excursion.
Maya Walk Cave Tubing at Nohoch Che’en with our guide Emil (sp?) was wonderful. Emil was very knowledgeable and shared lots of information about Belize and Mayan history on our ride to the site. The hike to the cave tubing entry point was fairly easy, especially with Emil’s commentary on the way. The cave tubing float was lots of fun, with Emil doing all of the hard work, as we floated along. The cave formations were very interesting , and when we re-merged to the sunlight and the river, it was so peaceful. I highly recommend MayaWalk and this tour (I also did ATM with MW.. which was excellent. (Separate review.). It’s also great that MayaWalk supports ecological conservation and research.
So much fun and much more than just tubing! Our guide Isael was super knowledgeable, sweet and showed us an amazing time.
Amil was so knowledgeable about the Mayan culture and traditions. He is an excellent guide. Our driver, Wimer, was professional, personable and very safe. The caves are so amazing to float through. Make sure you have decent shoes to walk through the caves in, your feet slide around in flip flops when they are wet and the terrain is rocky and rough. Amil gave us a great chance to experience swimming and walking around inside the caves.
Great time tubing and cave and lunch and guide but definitely not a full day. Gift shops are way too exciting.
We spent half our time in Belize in San Ignacio and did all our tours with MayaWalk. I prefer finding one company that can do it all—from airport transfers to cave tubing/ zip lining, and horseback riding to Xunantunich—and MayaWalk delivered. We’re a family of five with kids ages 20, 21, and 12, and every tour was engaging, fun, and perfect for all ages. Our guides and drivers deserve a special shout-out—they were truly outstanding. Fun, knowledgeable, engaging, and constantly sharing insight about Belizean history, culture, wildlife, and native plants along the way. You could tell they loved their jobs, and it made every experience even better. I debated between ATM and cave tubing and chose cave tubing, thinking I might be “settling,” but I was absolutely wrong—it was incredible! Their team was also so accommodating when I needed to switch plans, and everything felt tailored and never rushed. Don’t be discouraged if the website says a tour’s max capacity is 60—MayaWalk keeps a great guide-to-guest ratio (usually around 1:6), so tours feel personal and tailored. Our tours ended up being just our family. Highly, highly recommend MayaWalk!
Incredible experience. Really fun and would definitely do it again. Highly recommend for anyone wanting adventure on their vacation.
Our tour guide Eddy was awesome! Super nice, accommodating and knowledgeable. We first did a Mayan ruin tour and then went cave tubing with him. He was super safe, reliable and would recommend anyone who is hesitant to book to do it and request Eddy as their tour guide! The tubing was fun even though the water was a little cold! We walked inside of ancient caves and floated the river and cave while it rained. So cool!
I had the great pleasure of going on a half-day tubing tour guided by Ed to Nohoch Che’en cave. I joined up with Ed and a lovely young couple after they had what sounded like an amazing tour of Xunantanich since I’d already done a tour of the site two days earlier. After the entertaining drive to Frank Eddy’s village, my tour started with a wonderful lunch at Sungem Restaurant before we heading out on our hike through the woods around Jaguar Paw. Though it rained heavily, Ed’s sense of humor and joie de vie made the hike quite enjoyable! As we made our way down the Caves Branch River, Ed’s knowledge and amiable personality overflowed effortlessly. He gave us a very informed and to borrow his signature phrases “unBelizeable” tour of the cave, never failing to put our safety and well-being at the top of his concerns—“you better Belize it!” This was the third tour I booked with MayaWalk tours in the last two weeks, and I would (and have) highly recommend them to any and all interested in a truly unique and authentic experience with first-class service and guidance! I am already looking forward to my return trip and bringing friends and family down to get a taste of true Belizean hospitality and adventure!
I had an amazing experience with MayaWalk Tours! Everything was organized, smooth, and exceeded expectations from start to finish. I especially want to give a huge shout-out to Kissa, who helped me book all my tours. She was absolutely excellent—super friendly, patient, and incredibly knowledgeable. She made the whole process easy and stress-free. If you’re visiting Belize and looking for reliable, well-run tours with great customer service, MayaWalk is the way to go! Highly recommended.
Our family (kids ages 8 and 10) had an awesome time! Jaser and Eric took great care of us. The cave was more beautiful that I could have imagined or than the photos can really show. Jaser took us to some parts that were more remote and stunning. We had time to jump into the water and play in some narrow areas. I would highly recommend!
We had absolutely THE BEST experience with this company! ALEX was the kind of guide that gave us so much info, took care of our every need and even stopped by our resort on the way back bc my friend needed Benadryl for her bug bites and I needed help opening a rum bottle! Haha! I recommend this company 1000%! Choose them and go with ALEX! He’s the very best!
We had an incredible day Cave Tubing in Nohoch-Cheen caves! Our tour guide Ediando was beyond excellent! He made sure to give our family the experience of a lifetime. We not only explored the caves but took it further to get out of the tubes and climb on and swim in a secluded area of the caves! We learned so much history today from him and he made our tour very pleasant and enjoyable. Our driver Irvin was excellent - very informative on the country's history, people and agriculture. We would highly recommend this duo for your travel and tour needs! Thank you! It was unBELIEZEABLE!
This was hands down my favorite tour out of San Ignacio! Fantastic guide with a good balance between providing information and allowing periods of silence for guests to relax while tubing. Very nice lunch at a local restaurant at the end of the tour!
This tour was the highlight of my trip to Belize! Our Guide, Edeoni, was wonderful! He brought the Mayan culture/history to life with stories full of facts that gave us a picture of life in the Mayan culture along with the wildlife of the area! Having a Howler monkey scream from a tree over my head gave me a clear understanding of why their voice was used for the T Rex in Jurassic park!! He took us on tubes through a cave showing us everything from stalagmites/stalactites to tiny creatures living in total darkness. Our driver, Jaheem, was very willing to answer questions also and was a skilled driver so I felt safe on the bus. We stopped at a local restaurant for lunch which was very good and came back to our room exhausted but so pleased with the adventure! Definitely a must do experience!!
This was one of the most fun things we did in country. The tour guide was fantastic and we really enjoyed floating through the caves and learning about their history.
This was one of the best excursions that I have ever experienced. Andy, the tour guide, was awesome. He was knowledgeable, funny, and made us feel completely safe. During the tour my Apple Watch came off when we were diving into the water in the cave. They said that they would find it for me, but I counted it as a loss. After the tour and while we were eating, one of the other workers was able to swim to the cave floor and retrieve the watch. They called Andy and the driver drove back about 15 minutes to grab it for me. The finder asked for $10 USD finders fee… the fee was de minimis, so I gladly paid it. Our lunch was stewed chicken with rice and beans. It was good!
Unique adventure. It was beautiful and relaxing. The guides made us feel welcome and safe. The lunch was tasty. The drive was a little far from San Ignacio.
We had a great time cave tubing. Our guide, Jason, was incredibly informative throughout the tour. He had a great sense of humor and was super nice. A great experience!
One of the most epic adventures we’ve ever done! Our guide, Ismael was so knowledgeable and kind. We got lucky to be the only ones going on the tour that day. So it was like a private tour ❤️ absolutely recommend. So fun!!
This was our second trip using MayaWalks for a tour. We had so much fun on the cave tubing trip (kids 5 and 8). Our guide was great. Gave us a lot of history on our drive and walk to the river site. Lunch stop was at a great little spot with delicious food. Everyone enjoyed the day to the fullest.
What an absolutely stunning adventure! This was the most fun I had on all three tours I took with Mayawalk. Not to downplay the greatness of the other tours (ATM and Caracol), but this was the least physically demanding and just generally pleasurable. Our guide, Christian, was full of information and jokes and kept us safe and comfortable the whole way. The walk is easy and flat, I'm out of shape but had no problems carrying the tube, although YMMV. The views in and out of the caves are spectacular!
The two guides we had were excellent. There were 3 in my family and 6 additional people we picked up at another hotel. The traditional Belizean lunch (included) at the restaurant on the way back was the best version of that we had on the multiple excursions we have been on. I do have some helpful hints for future travelers: 1. You will need water shoes. They can be rented for $5BZD at some stands at the tubing parking lot. If needed, they can also rent you a dry pouch for phone and eyeglass straps. Note - the water shoes they rent you are basically "Croc's" so if you don't like those, bring your own. 2. Keep in mind you need to do a hike of 20+ min in whatever footwear you decide to use. 3. You have the option of carrying your tube or you can pay someone to carry it for you. We paid the $5 BZD/tube as we have visited waterparks enough to know they are a pain to haul around....through the jungle and 3 water crossing no less!. Bring money and pay the locals to carry them! Please! We had several people on our tour who wanted to save the money and the poor guides wound up carrying them for them. Not their job, but they did it without complaint. 4. To MayaWalk Tours: Please consider raising your price by $3 US and having the guides pay the locals to carry the tubes. I don't expect anyone to not book with you for a $3 increase to include this! That's it - enjoy. The float was relaxing - the guides do all the work. A few people used their cells for pictures but we left ours in the van/bus to be safe. The driver stays with the vehicle while you're gone, so all remains safe. Bring some small bills cash to pay for the water shoes and tube carry. Finally - please tip the guides well at the end!
We did the zip lining and cave tubing trip. Great experience! Our guide Jason was a wealth of information. Had a great time and learned a lot. The tour was well organized and the transportation comfortable. Highly recommend.
Excellent experience. Signed up for cave tubing and zip line experience. What I received was a 6 platform/zip runs, a 40 minute easy hike in the jungle, a cave tubing experience, a dip in a cenote, a tube ride down a jungle river and a traditional Belizean meal. No portion of the experience felt rushed. The guide was nice and knowledgeable. NOTE: there were only 4 people in my group.
We had such an amazing day, Eddie was our tour guide and he had an answer for every question we asked. Very knowledgeable about the caves and the surrounding areas along with plant, animal, and insect information! We both left the tour feeling fully satisfied with our excursion. Would highly recommend this guide.
Had an awesome time on the cave tubing tour. Christian, our guide, was phenomenal…knowledgeable, personable, good-humored, and very patient and kind. Would recommend 100 percent for something fun to do in San Ignacio.
We came to San Ignacio specifically to do this tour and were not disappointed. Out tour guide, Ed, was fantastic. My mom is a fit 84 year old and was able to do the 35 minute hike to the caves. The drift through was amazing with beautiful rock formations. Ed landed us at a beautiful ledge to see some of the more spectacular formations close up and take some great pics. Lunch at a local restaurant was a treat. Thanks Ed!
This was so fun and relaxing. A little hiking, a little swimming, swimming and nature. Our guides Edoni (sorry if I spelled that wrong) and Steven were top notch. They were informative and fun. Relaxing day in nature!
The tour was a nice combination of jungle exploring and tubing through caves. Our guide, Christian, did a wonderful job of pointing out different plants and animals, as well as explaining Mayan history.
Great experience floating around while being told cool details about Mayan history and practices in the caves, as well as wildlife along the way. Loved the walk and swim in the cave as well!
