That day, my husband and I happened to be the only ones on the tour! We met Viv, our tour guide, who was knowledgeable, informative, and fun! We learned about wine pairings, and had some wonderful food experiences, especially a clam chowder that was absolutely AMAZING! A good time!

My husband and I were the only 2 on the tour that day. The food and wine pairings were good, but the food was excellent on its own! ESPECIALLY the clam chowder!! Unlike any chowder I've tasted! Viv, our guide, was fun, informative, and knowledgeable. Overall, an excellent experience!.
Our guide, Viv, was fun and well informed. The selected restaurants had wonderful food and wine. We were introduced to the best clam chowder we’ve ever had. We began with a Chandon bubbly and a cheese plate, moved to the restaurant with chowder accompanied by a lovely rose, and to Poggio for delicious gnudi with a great Scarpatta Barbera and ended with a bread pudding like no other with white port on an outdoor deck. Everywhere the views were great and the guide a good conversationalist.
Great restaurant selections. Very good course selections: charcuterie w/ bubbly, unique clam chowder w rosé, gnudi w/ scarpetta, bread pudding w/ white port. Best food quality I’ve ever had on a food tour. Very informative and personable guide. Moderate flat walking in scenic location.
This review should be read in full since there are both pros and cons. Pros - 1. Viv was our tour guide and she was amazing! So incredibly personable and knowledgeable of all things food, wine, and the area! 2. The food was absolutely incredible, I actually went back to one of the restaurants after the tour because I was craving the one dish so much but the service was terrible (but not for the tour). 3. The wine and scenery were also amazing! Cons - Left hungry - see We knew another couple that eats about the same amount as we do and they left very full (different tour). I am not sure why but we were not full at all. I think this tour was arranged especially for us since the one we originally scheduled was cancelled. First place we each got a glass of sparkling wine and a cheese board to split. I am sure the cheeses were expensive and they were delicious - just not a lot of food. Second place only one glass of wine was ordered and that was split between my husband and I. We had the most incredible clam chowder that I ever had (that is what we went back for) and we each got a normal serving. Third place again - one serving of wine split between the two of us and one entre split between us and an order of flat bread split. Forth and final - again split the port wine, split a dessert. We figured out that that the company made $255 after food, wine and tip. I understand it is a business - again - we thoroughly enjoyed it, just would have liked a little more food and wine. Our tour guide was so incredibly sweet and gave us so much helpful advise...Hope this helps. Forgot to take a picture of the cheese board.
This tour was really enjoyable. Viv, the tour guide, was the highlight of our day. She was like a walking Wikipedia and knew everything about everything. Just spending the day with her was fun all on its own. The food was great and the wine was superb. We also had a great time hanging out with the other couple on our tour. This has been my 10th food tour or so, and it ranks as one of the best. You don't want to miss it!
Our tour guide had a wealth of knowledge of the town of Sausalito, neighboring San Francisco, all things wine and you could tell she was a “foodie” to her core. My husband and I attended the tour and there was another couple we met at the tour and we had a great time getting to know one another. The views at the restaurants were breathtaking as were the walls to each destination. You won’t be disappointed with this tour!
Great tour of a great town. Viv was fantastic. So very knowledgeable about Sausalito and San Francisco, and fun interesting facts! We thoroughly enjoyed the tour as well as the food (plenty of it) and the wine pairings. A great way to explore a beautiful city, and an absolutely wonderful guide. Highly recommend!
What fun! We had such a blast with Teresa that it truly felt as if we had met up with a friend in Sausalito. She took us to restaurants that all had tables waiting for us, usually the best table in the house. She ordered truly delicious items at each location, paired it all perfectly with beverages, all with a smile upon her face, and laughs along the way. We parted with sincere hugs and hopes of our paths crossing again… just like a good friend.
Great twin, great weather, great company, great food—enthusiastic guide who with us rather than at us, and who added zest and humor to the history she imparted. Visited four restaurants, a chocolate shop, and museum, and so we “covered the waterfront” (pun intended) from perspective of cuisine and culture.
This tour was fantastic! Our group of friends was trying to life the spirits of a friend who had recently lost her husband. It lifted all our spirits...and not just because of the wine. Our tour guide was outstandingly knowledgable about the area and wines, lots of history of the Bay Area from the 1800s. All the stops catered to us nicely because they knew the guide so well. Will definitely do again.
We went on the Sausalito Food and Wine Tour on Saturday, July 27, 2019. It was three girlfriends and Viv, our guide. Viv was fantastic! She was just one of the girls! She was very knowledgeable about the history of our stops, as well as the food and the wine. She was very easy to talk with and wasn't in a hurry. It was a walking tour, so she pointed out various interesting tidbits along the way. The restaurants were well chosen and the food and wines were delicious. By the time our tour was finished, we all felt like we had made a new friend. We would highly recommend this tour and, especially, Viv!
We loved our Sausalito Gourmet Food and Wine tour with Viv. She had fun facts of the restaurants we visited and history of Sausalito. We enjoyed lovely wine pairings with delicious food. Our small gathering of guests was the perfect gathering. Thank you Vivian we highly recommend this tour.
We had a wonderful tour. Viv was so much fun and so knowledgeable. Everything we are and drank was delicious.
We had a great day. The best food at the most interesting places with a lot of fun history. I feel like I could easily go back to Sausalito with friends and family and know exactly where to go. Thanks Renee! This was my second tour with you and it did not disappoint.
We can’t thank Renee enough . Even though it was only my husband and I on the tour Renee honoured the tour rather than disappoint us snd cancel it. Everything was perfect , despite it being December the weather was glorious. We were able to sit in outside in beautiful locations, overlooking the scenic bay . The wine and food did not disappoint . Food included cheese platter , shrimp cocktail, chowder , ‘nudie ‘ ravioli with home made bread , chocolates and bread and butter pudding to finish ! Delicious . Wine ranged from pink fizz , to rose , to red . A lovely afternoon. Thank you
Arlene, our tour guide, was fantastic. She was engaging when she spoke and knew a lot about the history of Sausalito and surrounding area. The food tastings were delicious as we visited four different restaurants, all within walking distance. No one felt "rushed" to move along to the next stop. The only reason I give it 4 stars was I assumed their would be more of the wine tastings. We only sampled three wines total, but that could have been my misunderstand of the tour. It rained most of the time, but Arlene even brought umbrellas for everyone that didn't already have one.
Renee was great on the wine and food tour. She more than accommodated for us and we thoroughly enjoyed all the stops! The history of the city is always so interesting
Vic was just an amazing guide for this terrific tour. The food and wine stops were top notch and Vic regaled us with wonderful stories about Sausalito. A must take tour!
We visited 4 Sonoma locations during a 3 hour tour. Our first stop was at a lovely restaurant, The Girl and The Fig, where we enjoyed delicious cheese, fig compote and yummy Quiche Lorraine. The food was paired with a JCB No. 69, 2016 Sparkling Brut Rosé and the girl & the fig, 2017 Rosé. The second stop was at FIGONE OLIVE OIL CO. where we had the opportunity to take amazing olive oils and balsamic vinegars. This family owned business grows olives in the nearby San Joaquin Valley. Our third stop was at The Delhi Belly Indian Bistro. The extraordinary Indian creations were paired with Cline Viognier wine. Our last stop was at a tasting room for a specialty, high-end wine company, Galatea Effect, where we enjoyed several wines from their Conoscenti collection. Renee was a great host, was very knowledgeable about both the foods and wines that she arranged. We loved the tour and would do it again.
Thoroughly enjoyed our Food & Wine tour in Sausalito. We were joined by just one other couple, so it was great to share food, wine and get to know each other. Our tour guide, Arlene had interesting stories to tell us about the restaurants, the area and the types of wines that were pared with the food. Visited different types of venues and had very enjoyable food and wine selections. Enjoyed that last stop for coffee and desert, which was a place we would have never found on our own. Just enough walking between venues. We would recommend this tour especially if you are new to Sausalito as we were.
Spent a wonderful afternoon with Drew, leisurely strolling thru Sausalito, ducking into tasty restaurants, and hearing about the area. What's more, Drew took care of reservations for us for the following nite at Poggio .. and following the food tour, gave us a ride to Cavallo Point, a perfect spot for an Irish Coffee on the porch and view of the Golden Gate Bridge. Can't thank Drew enough for an absolutely terrific day!
My mum and I loved this tour! Wonderful food and wine, lots of information and great conversation all while wandering around beautiful Sausalito. Viv was fantastic and really made the tour a great fun day!
Our experience with this food tour and Vivian was better than we expected. Vivian was very knowledgeable of the town. The food and wine pairing was excellent. We had so much fun and are making plans to return to Sausalito next year!
We took the Sausalito Gourmet Food & Wine Tour and it was wonderful! Arlene was our guide and she had lots of great stories and history to share with us at each restaurant. The food and wine pairing was fantastic. We went to Spinnaker, The Trident, Poggio, Chocolate, Bocce Bar. There was a course at each venue. Can't say enough good things about the experience. Small group - 6 guests and Arlene. We walked to each restaurant. Can't wait to plan another tour....
We did the tour with leader Arlene and had a wonderful time. The food and wine selection was yum! Arlene made sure we all enjoyed ourselves and learnt a bit about the food, wine and history of the area.
I had so much fun on this tour! Renee put together a great tour with great food and wine. Her knowledge of wine can only be equaled by her knowledge of Sausalito. The restaurants, food, and wine she chose paired great with the history and scenery of Sausalito. It was fun and yummy! I highly recommend it!
My partner and I have lived in the Bay Area our whole lives, but never have visited Sausalito. For Christmas, he bought me this food and wine tour! The day was picture perfect. Not a cloud in the sky and the most gorgeous view of the San Francisco skyline. Renee took us to a variety of restaurants and we got to try some great foods! I'll have to say my favorite was the Gnudi with their Barbera at Poggio by Scarpetta! She also recommended Sushi Ran for dinner (a restaurant we didn't visit on our tour.) We tried it and had some of the best sushi! We highly recommend the Sausalito Food and Wine Tour! We can't wait to visit again.
We took this tour today with Arlene and I cannot tell you how much we enjoyed it! We saw parts of Sausalito that we would never have seen, had some wonderful food and wine, but the best part was Arlene! She was not only super knowledgeable about the area and the food, but was just an absolute delight to be with! I highly, highly recommend this tour!
Best Food Tour Ever. Totally enjoyabe. Food Great. Tour guide wonderful. Wine excellent! Pairing selection exquisite.
Viv was great! She is fun and knowledgeable. The tour provided a nice variety of food and wine. I'd recommend this tour.

Love the tour, viv was fun and knowledgeable, food and wine was great, Sausalito was beautiful.

This was an excellent tour and our guide Viv was very knowledgeable and humorous. We learned quite a bit about various places in Sausalito and also about a bit of new information about wine.
Food, wine, location...everything was amazing!! Vivian made "old town Sausalito" come to life!! Absolute highlight of our Sausalito vacation!
Great time with Marcia. Would definitely recommend. We loved it all. Excellent food, wine and company

Great laid back tour, a great mix of local foods and wines ... our guide, Drew, was a genuine local and seemed to know a lot of the host venues personally. At each stop we were welcomed and treated as VIP's

The tour has sold us on Sausalito and we will be coming back

Great tour of local restaurants and food hot spots. Loved seeing some of the different options in the neighborhood and hearing the history. Great job Marie!
Outstanding experience. Pleasantly surprised. Not what I expected. Our guide knew her area history. The restaurant food and wine were excellent and the wait staffs were congenital.
Restaurants selected were excellent. Food and wine pairings were spot on. Thoroughly enjoyed our experience and would recommend as a fun day in Sausalito. Viv's pleasant personality only made the experience that more enjoyable.
We just completed the Yountville gourmet tour and it was exceptional. We had high hopes for this same tour in Sausalito. The restaurants selected were incredible...for the food, for the service and for the views. We definitely saw the very best of this special town. The only bit of disappointment was our guide seemed to be having an off day. She left us twice to go find her wallet and to go buy chocolate, we couldn't hear her when she was walking and once she even reached into our cheese plate with her fingers and broke off a piece of cheese, yuck! In defference to our party we were all using knives to serve ourselves. The tour itself is one I wouldn't want to have missed...sorry it wasn't Arlene from Yountville.
We had a wonderful experience taking this tour. From the moment we met our tour guide - Ms. Renee and Mr. Drew, they are so friendly, knowledgeable and professional. We walked along the Sausalito boardwalk over looking the gorgeous bay view and perfect weather. We discovered amazing cuisines and sweets at The Spinnaker, The Trident, Poggio Trattoria, Pick Me Up Chocolate and Bar Bocce. We also learned some Sausalito history and trivia questions! Such a FUNtastic day. As a Hotel Concierge, I highly recommend to visitor, traveler and tourist to take this tour. Thank you Ms. Renee and Mr. Drew for the informative and wonderful tour.

This tour was fab! Great food, knowledgable guide, really perfect morning!

My wife is vegetarian. Marcia, our guide, ensured the perfect food and wine pairings for both of us at each venue we visited, all of which were wonderful.
One of the best things to do when visiting San Fran. Get a ferry over to Sausalito - a charming town across the bay - and book Renee's gourmet tour. Great selection of venues, and food and wine pairings. A small, intimate occasion in a fabulous setting. A highlight for us! We're going to do Renee's Yountville tour next time we're in town.
Great tour of Sausalito today! Renee was wonderfully informative and genuine. It was like spending an afternoon with a really good friend with excellent taste in food and wine. The food was delicious and the wine pairings were perfect. I highly recommend this tour!

It's a great way to spend a day getting to know Sausalito. The foods we tasted were all great and the wine pairings were perfect. We got great views of the Bay wherever we went. Our guide, Viv, was superb. She was knowledgeably, funny and asked several times if we had questions. All in all, it was terrrific value for the money. I'd definitely recommend this package.

With the plethora of art galleries, street side restaurants and colorful stories about artists in the 60s-70s, our group was entertained and shown outstanding wine & food pairings in this little sailboat town. The zesty personality of Viv, our tour guide gave the tour a personal touch. Next year we will make a return visit!
Sausalito is a very nice town, which you shouldn't miss during your stay in SF. Thanks to Viv we realised it has an excellent selection of restaurants too. Different to many other food tours, the food is really good. In combination with a very knowledgable and nice person we can only recommend this tour. For us it was a real 5-Star experience.
We recently moved to Sausalito but after this tour I am more proud than ever to call this my new home. Renee made this tour so interesting and so much fun. Made friends with two lovely visitors from South Korea over an afternoon of perfectly paired cheeses and wines at the Spinnaker, then on to the historic Trident over chowder and shrimp cocktails...tasted the amazing gnudi at Poggio...and the huckleberrry bread pudding dessert at Bocci was out of this world! By the end of the day we had a great sense of the entire city and its history...quite a bit of walking but Renee is willing to fine tune the tour to accommodate those who do not want to walk as much. It doesn't feel like a touristy tour....much more intimate, like getting to spend a perfect half day with a very knowledgeable local!
So much fun to experience Sausalito with Gormet Food and Wine Tours. Rene is an incredible host. She discovered special places to go and delightful tid bites I was not aware of in this charming town by the San Francisco Bay. Rene's knowledge of the history of the town surprised me. It was an extra added bonus. Don't miss this!
