Pick up/drop off was easy enough and staff were friendly. Bikes were not good. The bike stand on mine didn't work properly and the brakes squeaked all day. My husband's bike was worse, the seat wouldn't stay up making riding uncomfortable all day and the cogs were worn out.

The first bike got a flat tire and the second bike had a bike seat that would not stay up. Overall, I feel that the bike quality could be better.
Perfect way to spend the afternoon exploring!! The staff was helpful and the bikes were great! Such a fun experience to ride over the Golden Gate Bridge..fun experience..highly recommend!!
I booked online which was supposed to come with a discount but when I dropped it off they said they wouldn’t honor the discount so much more expensive
We had initially rented from Parkwide Bike & Rurrey rentals, but they handled a no-show without notice, which was very poor! Next, we walked past Bay City Bike rentals, who approached us asking if we wanted to rent bikes. We pointed out the "no-show Parkwide" issue, and they resolved it very nicely. We were extremely satisfied and rented two bikes from Bay City Rentals without any additional payment! It was amazing how they resolved the issue for us, spoke to us, and provided us with very well-maintained bikes. If you want to rent a bike with confidence, GO TO BAY CITY BIKE!!!! Thanks guys!!!
Bike rides are awesome ..different trails each time wharf downtown or Marina Crissy field ..here's to biking in sf
We rented our e-bikes from Marcus and had a great experience. He was very friendly and took plenty of time to explain everything to us, including the route to Battery Spencer and Sausalito. The bikes were in excellent condition and very comfortable to ride, even on the hills. The views from Battery Spencer were absolutely stunning and the ride to Sausalito was beautiful. We really enjoyed our trip and would definitely rent bikes here again. Highly recommended!
Awesome experience. Went to the Golden Gate and rode to the end. Coming back was amazing looking out towards the Pacific Ocean in the afternoon. Not difficult and very rewarding. Spiritual and healthy.
Great e-bikes, easy to use, good price, comfortable. We had a great day exploring at our own pace. Started with Golden Gate Bridge to Sausalito, returned on ferry to pier 1 then explored the city winding out way to see The Painted Ladies. Bike coped easily with all the steep streets being able to ride all the way. In all we had the bikes for around 8hours making it a very cost effective way to see much of the city. Thoughly recommend
The most terrible and waist of time experience dealing with this unprofessional company. We hired bykes from San francisco bay for the day after an hour one of the bikes tyre came off the rim. We called. We asked for assistance on the help line after 20 min the assistance manager of the Bike shop by the Name of Leo answered very rudely puting the phone down on 4 occasions. When we did manage to speak to him he tried to blame us for the bike problem of which we found out later it was due to poor mentanance. He informed us we will need to wait for over an hour for road assistance or cut our bike ride short and come back by ferry. 2 of us said goodbye to our friends bought ferry tickets and went to return the bikes. We ended Walking with the bikes. Spoke to a person by the name of Christian as the manager was away on holiday who asked us to feel a form to complain. No money or any compensation was given to us he said a manager will call us back. No one did 3 days later. We left the shop very disappointed. Be careful they are happy to take your money but not give you any service.
Had reservations that aided our check -in that went very smoothly. Agent at the desk was fabulous in asking where we wished to go and provided guidance on route, spots for great pictures and areas to caution. Bikes were of high quality and well maintained. These folks earned an A+.
The bikes were excellent and the staff were friendly and efficient. We loved cycling along the coastline on the wide cycle paths. The ride over the Golden Gate Bridge was challenging with children due to high winds, lots of pedestrians and cyclists and the extreme noise of the car traffic. Make sure that younger members of your family are confident cycling on busy roads for their own safety if you choose to cycle all the way to Sausalito. Our kids were 9, 12 & 14.
Great experience from start to finish. The bikes were exactly what you would expect, well maintained and good to use. The staff were excellent at setting us up, making sure we had the right equipment. We got small tutorial on paths we could use and then we were off. Dropping the bikes off was easy as well.
We biked from their Fisherman's Wharf store to the Palace of Fine Arts, across the Golden Gate Bridge to the Sausalito Ferry Terminal, by ferry to the SF Ferry Building, and by bike on the Embarcadero back to Fisherman's Wharf. Just 10 miles on our bikes but a terrific, hours-long adventure with lots of amazing scenery and fun stops. The bikes are excellent, helmets comfortable and top-of-the-line, and service outstanding. My front tire went flat near the bridge's north tower and the folks at Bay City Bike delivered a replacement bike to me at the parking lot across from the Marin County vista point in record time — no muss, no fuss.
We enjoyed the service and our ride. The check-in/checkout process was very efficient. They gave us a very clear overview of the city map before we left, which was very helpful. The equipment was in great shape. They sold us ferry tickets back from Sausalito with the understanding that we could “skip the line” when getting on the ferry however, this wasn’t honored when we tried to board the ferry. Save a few extra dollars and buy the tickets separately online or on the ferry.
We had so much fun with the self tour! Marcus and Sierra were super helpful and it was a great way to see the city. The electric bike was the hero of the day and if you are on the fence go with the ebike!!
This was a great company to rent bikes for the day. Ciara was awesome helping us! We rode our bikes all over town and it was so fun to explore.
This was our first family E-bike trip and we had such a great time! We were all so exhausted from 3 days of hiking in Yosemite, that the E-bikes were perfect for us. We rode along the bike path, stopping to walk around the Palace of Fine Arts. Then we took the beach path along Chrissy field, stopping for some good photos of the bridge. The pier at the Warming Hut was a perfect picture spot too. We were unprepared for just how crazy the winds would be on the bridge...especially at the towers! But then, we did have high winds the day we rode. After the bridge, we rode up the hill to the lookout. There's no way I would try that without the E-bike assistance. Even then it was a struggle! But what a view! Sausalito was beautiful, and our lunch at FISH was fun (though we had a hard time finding a bike rack). I suggest arriving at the ferry half an hour early if it's busy. They can only take so many bikes, and we were worried we weren't going to make the cut. BTW when we left the bike shop the top of the bridge was in fog, but by the time we got there it was clear!
The views were amazing! Took a million photos. Would definitely recommend it even for a two hour trip (we went all day rate)!
We had a great day cycling with e-bikes around SF, going over the Golden Gate Bridge and ferry back, and seeing all the different neighbourhoods. The bikes worked really well and the suggested bike routes easy to follow.
You have to make the reservation first in their website. After doing so, all things worked very well, the bikes were new, we could set the bike seat heigh and, mainly, we could do our trip to Sausalito. I had no problems with Bay City Bike Rentals.
We had a great day out with the e-bikes, going out over the Bridge to Sausalito and then back to Lands End and the Golden Gate Park. Thoroughly recommend. The Japanese guy in the shop (sorry, I forgot your name) who set us up was incredibly helpful and nice, and the equipment was all super easy to use and really responsive. Go for it. Joyful day.
I took my grandson to San Francisco for a special birthday trip. After enjoying a basketball game the day we arrived we had the next day completely free. I had planned to take the hop on bus to tour the city and then ride bikes across the Golden Gate bridge. However when I heard the reasonable price for the all day bike rental we signed up. With helmets and bikes that were fitted to us, we were off. First stop, crossing the bridge, then up to Golden Gate Park. We toured the park, spent hours in the California Academy of Sciences, went to the conservatory and had lunch. Then we rode back to Fishermans wharf, took a break and rode to an amazing Sushi restaurant. A very full and exciting day but with safe bike paths and shared streets we felt safe and navigated the city more quickly than if we would have been in a car!
We booked our bike hire online the night before as Bay City Bike Hire had the most competative pricing in the Fisherman's Wharf area for the standard city bikes. We collected the bikes at 9am and it was a quick process and the staff were helpful. We were offered helmets at no additional cost and a map and lock were included. I thought that the 'cheap' bikes may have been heavy but they were not, the hills were easy to peddle up and the bikes were comfy. We biked from Fishermans Wharf, across the bridge to Sausalito then got the ferry back with the bikes. The ferry ticket is cheaper to purchase in Sausalito than adding it to the bike booking (which is an option). This activity is a definite must for everyone visiting San Francisco!
Such a fun, beautiful day. Easy to navigate the route, bikes were in a good shape. So many places to stop along the route for photos and views!
I rented a bike from this shop and had an amazing experience riding across the Golden Gate Bridge to Sausalito. The bike was in great condition, easy to ride, and perfect for the journey. The staff was friendly and gave me helpful tips on the best route and ferry options for the return trip. The views along the way were absolutely stunning, and riding through Sausalito was a fantastic experience. I highly recommend this rental shop for anyone looking to explore the San Francisco Bay Area by bike. It was definitely one of the highlights of my trip!
The manager Christiano was amazing! He gave great advice on food in the area and historical places to visit. Definitely will be back.
Christian was awesome at Bay City Bike. Great family day crossing the golden gate bridge over to Sausalito. Fun, fun fun.
We rented bikes from Bay City Bike Rentals for two hours. Already in the beginning of the tour, the chain on one of the bikes was a bit choppy and did not feel maintained. Just when we were about to reach the Golden Gate, the chain broke and it was no longer possible to use the bike. We called the shop and they promised to be there with a new bike within 10 minutes. We had to wait for 30 minutes, missed the golden hour for photos and when we got back, they demanded that we would pay for the broken chain. After some arguing, they agreed not to demand the cost for it as we claimed that it had not been properly maintained. However, I would not use this shop again and encourge you to use another rental shop!
Really lovely service even with our big group. Took us through booking our bikes with ease and remained very kind and polite even though we made the hiring more complicated than needed
The bicycles were nice and there were no problems. By the way Danny was very nice with us and gave us very good advices. Thanks a lot!
Great experience and highly recommend using these guys. Great equipment, great guidance and advice on what to see. Will go again
Good! It was beautiful experience to me. I really hope that i will be back here with my wife. I’m so happy to have a nice memory.
Great day sight seeing on the bikes with the family. Guys were very helpful and recommended good spots for us to see in SF.
Thank You Marcus and Sean from SF E bike Rental at Fisherman’s Warf! We love our new E-bikes and loved the fantastic customer service provided to us in addition to great prices and a great day ride + they sell used e-bikes that are FUN 🤩!
So much fun even on a raining November day. Get the e-bike! Best time in San Francisco for sure. Thanks Marcus you were great.
We hired e-bikes. We weren’t sure the batteries would last so we only used power on the hills. However, we made it over the GG bridge to Sausalito and then onto Muir Woods and back to Sausalito for the ferry with half a battery left. The hill up from Muir Woods is long and steep but took us only 9 minutes from bottom to top. Bikes were relatively light for e-bikes and the controls super easy (we don’t have e-bikes and my 16 year old daughter had never ridden one). Great day…..
Wife and I rented ebikes for the day. The process of reserving and acquiring the bikes was very smooth. We had a blast, and wouldn't have wanted to bike to Sausalito with regular bikes.. I only took off a star because the bikes could've been in a little better shape. I had a tire with an unseated bead or some other lump, and I had to me with the chain guard a few times to keep it from rubbing. Even so, we still had a blast, and I would highly recommend this.
Fantastic way to see the San Francisco waterfront, the bridge and Sausilito. All very easy including taking the bike back on the ferry. Bike collection and return very easy and friendly staff.
It was so much fun to explore San Francisco with the e-Bikes! Went via Golden Gate Bridge to the view points and Sausalito. The best way to explore the city. Bikes were in good condition. Online booking worked well.
This place is trash. My wife, daughter, and I spent $225 for three electric bikes for the entire day. However, about an hour into the ride, my bike stopped working. I think it was not charged, or it was a broken bike. But it broke down on the other side of the Golden Gate. I had to paddle up all of those hills. When we got back, we asked for a refund, but the manager named Marcus pretty much told us off; then I contacted the owner. His name is Luis, but he refuses to respond. Maybe he does not speak English, but her certainly does not embrace the values of customer service. Furthermore, if you look at their reviews, they have done similar things to other clients. They charged us for the full day, gave us a broken bike, then refused to refund us the money. We were pretty much victimized by this hole in the wall company. This place is a fraud. There are numerous other bike rentals within walking distance. Go to anyone of them.
The bike I received had a damaged plastic chain wheel cover. It was cracked with sharp edges. The edges tore up my fitted pant leg during my ride to the Golden Gate Bridge. When I asked for my money back as I was provided a damaged bike that ruined my pants, I was told they would not help me. Moral of the story: go over every inch of the bike before leaving, I expected better service for a company with good reviews.
Was immediate greeted by a helpful person. Rentals were explained in detail. Buy online save $$$ bikes were in good condition and made our trip enjoyable.
Great experience, reasonable price, great staff, happy to recommend to anyone who is visiting San Francisco and want to rent a good bike for all day for reasonable price
The bikes are ok. Running but old. We booked via Website - was possible to select pick ip at 8 a.m., they do open at 9?! This is not really customer friendly.
We took the full day rental of electric bikes and cycled over to Sausilito. Team in the shop were soooo helpful, changed saddle heights to suit, showed us how to use the electric assistance to its best - so much that we returned both bikes with full range. To top it all off, fab music in the shop
One of the best things you can do in San Francisco. Just grab a bike (you don't have to be very sporty) and cycle over the Golden Gate Bridge to Sausalito for Lunch. The views are amazing and the trails are safe and easy. You can already buy the ferry tickets to San Francisco at the bike shop. Bike were in very good condition and the staff very helpful. I strongly recommand!!!
Great service. The bikes were great for uphill/downhill San Francisco. I am not a frequent biker, but managed with the city bikes. They have different suggestions for routes throughout the city. We ran a flat tire going downhill. We made a quick call and they send someone with a new bike. The bikes have a small bag on the wheel were you can put some belongings in.
I rented an electric bike via Bay City Bike after looking online for the best price vs location vs ease. I definitly recommend Bay City Bike, the reservation was easily made and fast to check when picking up. Their service is on point, they tell you how to use the bike and what to in case something happens. Apart from good service and good price, the bike was also nice, worked well. Last but not least, the people working at Bay City Bike are nice!
The electric bike rental was the best way to see everything we wanted to and get around town efficiently. The employees were very nice and helpful and the bikes were in great working condition.
