enjoy this fascinating museum about SF's most famous transport feature, which is also the site of the machinery which runs the system (weekends).
Go inside our beautiful City Hall and learn about the important events which took place there (weekdays).
See this picturesque new area, near the San Francisco Civic Center, with it's collection of great street art and small coffee shops.

Experience this historic neighborhood, hugely important in the LGBTQ movement, of which San Francisco is a world-wide symbol.

Throughly enjoyed this tour and highly recommend. Great guide - Jamie. Very knowledgable and passionate, took away lots of interesting facts. Travelled like a local. Jamie rexommended a place for lunch (not included) to a middle eastern restaurant, in the area of Haight & Ashbury, food was great. There is a lot of walking so not suitable for the less mobile. It is a long day but for us, worth every minute. We would never had covered the key sights and more alone. The day was well planned logistically to. Not a moment wasted. The is a must do tour. Thanks Jamie!!
Excellent tour using all the different modes of transport in San Francisco with an extremely knowledgeable guide who obviously loves her home town of San Francisco.
Be prepared for a slow moving tour, and one that may not allow an itinerary change. The tour seemed unorganized and parts of what was shared by the guide were. It revelant.
Jamie L was such a great tour guy! Very knowledgeable person. Would definitely get another tour from him.
Our guide, Mark Mitchell, was very friendly and knowledgeable about the San Fran neighborhoods and restaurants.
A lot more walking than expected. We had a very passionate, knowledgeable tour guide! Saw a lot of San Francisco. Wish we had more time on the cable cars.
Jamie was our tour guide, and he was truly outstanding. This was a genuine walking tour - we covered about 11 miles in total, with over half of it on foot and the rest by cable car, streetcar, subway, and public bus. (Yes, there is a difference between a streetcar and a cable car - something I didn’t know until this tour!) Jamie was methodical and precise with pick-up times for each mode of transportation, making the day feel seamless despite the variety of transit options. His organization kept the pace smooth and enjoyable. We visited an incredible range of sites: • Cable Car Museum • Chinatown • North Beach • Lombard Street • Nob Hill • Financial District • Painted Ladies • Haight-Ashbury • The Castro Each stop was well-timed, informative, and engaging. Jamie’s knowledge and enthusiasm brought the city’s history and culture to life. By the end of the day, we felt like we had truly experienced San Francisco from the ground up. Bottom line: This tour was comprehensive, educational, and unforgettable. If you want to see the city in depth and learn along the way, this is the tour to book.

We had a fantastic time with Jamie. We saw so much more than a conventional bus tour. Hoping on and off cable cars, buses and trains added to the fun as we never knew where we were going next. Highly recommended.
James the guide was great. A lot of good walking mostly downhill. We were only two so that made it more personal
Our tour guide, Jamie, did an amazing job. He shared so many amazing facts and was very friendly. Knew exactly where to go. We had a wonderful day and my teens had fun too.
The tour guide was extremely knowledgeable and was wonderful to have conversations with and ask questions about San Francisco. He was extremely helpful when it came to deciding on places to eat and getting back to where we needed to be. We both loved the tour.
This company got good reviews but unfortunately we got a dud. The man was very nice but knew nothing but brief anecdotes that we could have found out about on our phones. In fact, he didn't even know about some notoriously haunted buildings everyone knows about when we asked, and he gave misinformation about other things. At times we felt like we knew more than he did having done some reading. The tour very quickly changed from a ghost and crime tour to just information about buildings that we passed and anecdotes about himself. It was very disappointing for the money, and we wish we had booked one of the free SF City tours instead because we know that the volunteers there are actually trained in local history.
If you want a different kind of experience from riding on a big tour bus all day, this is a great option. We ended up having a private tour as there were only the two of us on a Sunday. Our guide Mark is fantastic with a wealth of information about all the different neighborhoods and important events, some of which he himself lived through, as a long time (more than 4 decades) SF resident. We went to places and saw arts that we otherwise would never have discovered on our own. It was definitely fun to ride in the cable car, street car and many buses without having to navigate them all on our own. Throughout the day, Mark had never stopped being most enthusiastic about what he was telling us. It was most worthwhile and an unforgettable day in the city.
Mark was our guide and was utterly fantastic. He was very knowledgeable of the history of San Francisco, and the presentation was in a light and often humorous manner. Great time!
I really enjoyed my San Francisco day tour. It was a great way to see so much of the city in a short amount of time, especially as someone visiting and trying to understand the different neighborhoods, history, and culture. The tour was informative, interesting, and gave me a better appreciation for how colorful and unique San Francisco is. I especially enjoyed learning about the Castro, the city’s LGBTQ+ history and the stories connected to different landmarks. The guide shared a lot of details that I probably would not have learned just walking around by myself. It made the city feel more alive and meaningful.
It’s an amazing tour. I loved every minute of it. You really get a feel and knowledge of the city. Be ready to walk up hills, take trolleys, ride the subways. I’m mean it’s an adventure. We saw the whole city. Highly recommend it if you love being active. Tour guide was the best!
We had a really great experience! Jamie was wonderful, very knowledgeable about the city and its history. Very flexible and accommodating. He has some good restaurant recommendations as well and all in all made our trip truly worth it
Our family had an amazing tour with Jamie. We learned so much about the history, architecture, and interesting people of the city. We enjoyed the cable car rides, lunch in Chinatown, and incredible views of the city. Highly recommend this tour!
it's a long day, so folks should be prepared for that some hills and stairs that will need to be climbed. But overall, it was great. Jaime was awesome very informative. Lots of good inside information. It was nice because there was only two of us so we actually had a private tour.
We had an amazing time on the San Francisco tour with Jamie! The tour was fun, engaging, and packed with fascinating history, culture, and local insights. Jamie was incredibly knowledgeable and did a fantastic job bringing the city to life with interesting stories and facts. We learned so much while also having a great time exploring San Francisco. Jamie’s enthusiasm and personality made the experience even more enjoyable. Highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting the city—we had so much fun and left with a much deeper appreciation for San Francisco!
Ashley and I took this tour today, and it exceeded every expectation we had. From the moment we started at the Embarcadero and worked our way through iconic locations like Nob Hill, the Cable Car Museum, City Hall, Hayes Valley, Mission Dolores Park, The Castro, Haight-Ashbury, the Painted Ladies, Lombard Street, North Beach, and Chinatown, every stop offered something unique and memorable. What truly made this experience exceptional was our guide, Jamie. His knowledge of San Francisco’s history, culture, architecture, and hidden gems was incredible. He brought each location to life with fascinating stories, local insight, and a great sense of humor that kept the entire tour engaging from start to finish. Jamie was personable, professional, and genuinely passionate about the city, which made the experience feel much more personal than a typical sightseeing tour. The pace was perfect, giving us enough time to take photos, explore, and soak in the atmosphere at each stop without ever feeling rushed. We learned so much about San Francisco while seeing many of its most famous landmarks in a single day. If you’re visiting San Francisco and want an outstanding introduction to the city, we highly recommend this tour—and if you’re lucky enough to get Jamie as your guide, you’re in for a fantastic experience. Ashley and I had an amazing time and would absolutely do it again! 5 out of 5 stars. Highly recommended! 🌉🚋🏙️✨
Jaimie was the BEST!!! If you are new to San Francisco, get a flavor of its history, culture and food by take this tour. Jaimie is very personable and a wealth of San Francisco knowledge
My family of 11 traveled here from Minnesota to experience a wonderful tour of San Francisco. We ended up leaving after the 2nd stop because the cable cars were not letting us get on, and we were waiting on the side of the street for about 30-40 minutes before giving up and making other plans. Things I wished they mentioned in the details of booking - drinks are not allowed, so if you bring coffee to enjoy for the tour, you will have to throw it away before getting on. If there are people in line for the cable cars at the time of your reservation, you will need to wait in line and potentially catch the next one. There are many personal stories shared that were not SF history, and some untoward comments that we did not appreciate about communities in the bay area. We wanted a group picture, which he took, but first on his phone without our permission (please do not use or post online). As someone that's lived here for 10 years, and has been on many tours, I expected more for the money we spent, and was overall disappointed. We cut our loses, and enjoyed the rest of the day down at Fishermans Wharf.
This tour was very well planned, we were on foot the whole day and covered A LOT! Using different modes of public transportation in SF was an added benefit, we truly enjoyed it. Our guide Mark was very knowledgeable and helpful, we would highly recommend this tour to anyone. Thank you!
My wife and I had a fabulous day touring San Francisco with our guide Mark. Mark was upbeat and informative, he truly loves the city and enjoyed sharing it with us. He told us wonderful stories about San Francisco and answered all of our questions. Eight hours flew by! I highly recommend taking this tour.
Jamie gave a great tour! His is deep knowledge of the city and clear love for its history resulted in a truly memorable experience. We feel like we see it all! Highly recommend
Jamie led our group of three for an entire day tour through ALL of San Fran. We visited all the neighborhoods of San Fran and learned all the history of this awesome city. Jamie was an absolute historian and amazing tour guide. Funny, courteous, and could adjust the day on the fly as needed. Make sure you prepare for a long day! Would absolutely recommend
Excellent city tour. Had a little trouble finding the guide at the start (not her fault) as exact directions were not given, but guide immediately let her boss know to have location for start of tour clarified (good customer service). The tour took us throughout San Fransisco to places I had always wanted to see but could never see on my own. Guide was extremely knowledgeable with local history. Trip included travel on all forms of city transportation (cable cars, trolleys, buses, subway) and she even included a Waymo taxi ride. Guide made several restaurant recommendations during tour which we bookmarked for future reference. (ate at two of the recommended restaurants and food was fantastic). Would definitely recommend the tour for anyone looking for a full day experience with helpful tips for future exploring of the city. Great job.
Wonderful day with Jamie- I’m so glad I did this on my first day in town. Gives you a really good feel. Lots of walking but not hard work. Our guide Jamie was positive, well researched, and it was great to be guided by someone who is passionate about their city. Would really recommend this trip!
This tour is excellent for those really wanting to get a feel for each of the districts visited. Our guide, James, was super passionate about the city and delivered his commentary with enthusiasm. The route was well considered to ensure walking up hills was kept to a minimum and the use of public transport was great too as it allowed us to cover a large area of the city. This tour is a must do for first timers to San Francisco and offers exceptional value.
What an amazing day! Dara made this day magical, giving interesting details, but not too much information. She struck a great balance! Her expertise with juggling the timing of multiple types of transport was exemplary. The things we saw were fabulous… a wonderful overview of all that San Francisco offers and many insights that would not have been learned without the benefit of the tour. It was fun, calm, and simply lovely to just ‘follow the leader’, removing all stress from exploring the city, along with the bonus of being able to relax while we explored. There was a wonderful variety in the city areas visited, from food, multi cultural areas, architecture, transport, music, hippie era, equality, and historical connections. This was a super day out, offering a fantastic overview of everything San Francisco!
Jamie was an awesome tour guide. He was very informed and keep a great pace throughout the day. I would highly recommend this tour.
It was a wonderful experience, not to miss. I and my wife both enjoyed a lot. Dara is a very knowledgeable person, explaining with zeal, the history of San Francisco and all the places we visited. We traveled in a couple of cable cars, a bus, a train, walked the streets and enjoyed . Worth taking this tour, that really takes us through San Francisco, with a lot of information about the places and their significance. Thank you Dara for making this trip memorable for both of us.
The best tour I ever had!!!! We sew the entire city! Rides on cable car, old trolly was amazing! The guide had many history stories about 1906 and 1989 earthquakes, interesting stories about famous people of San Francisco. I highly recommend this tour, it is a lot of walking but half a tour is also available..
Enjoyed seeing the city and sights that one normally would not see. Learned lots of history about San Francisco. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and loved his city.
This is one of the best walking tours we have ever been on. We learned more about San Francisco and the various areas of the city and we would’ve ever gotten to know on our own. Our guide was so informative about his city and very friendly and easy-going.
A lot of information and guide was very knowledgeable. Very wide coverage of the city tour. Recommend if looking for in-depth coverage of the city.
D was a very knowledgeable guide. She was able to make the tour interesting as well as fun. It was great to travel using the cable cars, street cars and bus system around the city as well as by foot. We gained huge insight into the San Francisco history that has made the city what we see today
Nobody showed up or communicated that they had canceled or rebooked or changed the location of the tour. I was so disappointed. This company needs to do better at communication
My husband Andrew & I enjoyed our tour so very much. Jamie, our tour guide was wonderful, and so informative with the history of San Francisco! and many interesting facts! Jamie definitely does his homework and could answer any question, we asked him😊 Loved taking cable car rides too!! We also enjoyed lunch with him and other couples in our tour group! I highly recommend this tour with Jamie of course! Date of our tour- Monday, September 8, 2025. Cathleen P.
Mark was very enthusiastic and knowledgeable about San Francisco. After 6 hours of walking/ cable car rides we were too exhausted to continue the tour. We did enjoy what we saw. We're going to try and find Chinatown as that was what we most looked forward to
This was my first time in San Francisco and I wanted a tour that would give me a good introduction to the city. This tour certainly delivered the goods! Jamie was delightful guide, very knowledgeable and a wonderful ambassador for his city. We covered a lot of ground, visiting the many and varied areas of the city, from the murals of Chinatown to Mission Dolores Park via Little Italy, Nob Hill, Haight - Ashbury, The Castro and many other quirky areas. A truly fascinating tour with a variety of transport which provided a comprehensive overview of this fabulous city. All credit to Jamie for this well organised day... if you're lucky enough to have him as your guide, you're in for a treat!
We arrived 15 minutes before the tour started and our guide was already there. We ended up being the only two people on the tour which made the experience even better! Jamie was an exceptional tour guide! His vast knowledge of San Francisco soaked us in history, trivia, and delightful stories all about the people and places he loves. From Chinatown’s long history to Haight Ashbury of the infamous 60’s, Jaime was always engaged. Wishing there was a Day 2 to this tour! Tips for this tour: * Wear extremely comfortable shoes or sneakers * This is a strenuous ALL/DAY tour, don’t kid yourself! If you have people who are not able to walk a good distance, pick a different tour by Jamie, but don’t take them along in this one. * The open trolley is worth the $9! Highly recommend if you only have a day or two in this city!
Our tour guide Dara was exceptional and would recommend her to anyone looking for a tour guide if this beautiful state. She was full of knowledge and just a pleasure to be with.
We highly recommend this tour! What made our tour the best, was our wonderful tour guide Jamie! He was very knowledgable of San Francisco & it's history. He made our group feel like family. He offered bathroom breaks & drinks as needed. He made sure the whole group was comfortable with the pace of the tour. The Cable Car is so much fun! We toured many of the San Francisco neighborhoods & Jamie offered to take our pictures at so many of the best views & highlights of the tour! We took in Chinatown, Italian Village, Civic Center, Alamo Square with the "Painted Ladies" Victorian Houses, Haight & Ashbury Hippy area, Rainbow Crosswalk in the Castro District, Lombard "Crookedest" Street, & many more areas of interest. He took us to Abu Salim Restaurant for lunch where our group sat together & enjoyed some very wonderful Middle Eastern food. Our group consisted of 4 couples from Italy, England, Kentucky, & Illinois. Jamie took us to a little neighborhood grocery store where we could buy a snack or drink. All of our transportation transfers & walking went very smooth. Jamie knows the area well & can recommend food places. We stopped at a wonderful little ice cream shop during our walk. Our tour lasted 8 hours, but we ended the tour in Chinatown & they had a celebration happening in the streets & he actually stayed with our group a little longer. It was all so much appreciated. He recommended the Chinese restaurant "606" in Chinatown & it did not disappoint! Excellent food!! Jamie is an EXCELLENT tour guide & we highly recommend this very informative tour!!
Jamie, our knowledgeable guide, led us all over San Francisco at a fair pace using public transport to move around and stopping during the walks to explain the history associated with each place, giving frequent times for rest along the way. He added many personal details of people who made it famous, which added interest we could relate to. For the distance covered, no-one in our group of 8 felt rushed or tired. Jamie thoughtfully accommodated everyone, taking photos at each significant location which he promptly forwarded with other requested information for our remaining holiday time.
Extremely knowledgeable and very informative! Got a great view of the city from many different locations!!Jamie was polite, kind, & friendly.
Excellent account of the history and all the colours , characters and architecture of San Francisco. It brought it alive for us. We could not have coveted so much ground or history in our time here. The black and white photos of the 1960s San Francisco gave us a keen insight into how it was then. Jamie was extremely knowledgeable and very helpful , flexible in answering questions and making time and we even got to ride in a Waymo which was very exciting!
