I thoroughly enjoyed my time with Doc and would highly recommend his tour to anyone looking for a personalised photographic experience in San Francisco. The party Loupe Brothers Photo Adventures L.L.C. dba Doc Miles Photography Tours did not show up and the photography work shop I have booked and paid did not happen. I am expecting a full refund ASAP. In fact, I have wasted two days in San Francisco plus hotel expenses and taxi between airport/hotel; worst, I lost an opportunity that I wanted to photo the golden gate when I purposely stopover in San Francisco.

What a great experience for photographers of all levels. Doc was insightful, patient, and fun! He's very knowledgeable and will guide you as much as you need with regard to composition, camera settings, etc. During the tour he cruised in/out of a variety of great vantage points, all very quickly and efficiently. The vehicle was clean and very comfortable. I was able to get some nice shots, learn a thing or two, and see the city from a few locations I never would've found on my own.

Doc was most professional and extremely knowledgeable. As a result we were able to visit sites that we never would have been able to photograph on our own. Our total experience was extraordinarily.

Doc is awesome. Knowledgeable, professional, accommodating, and very flexible about rescheduling when our tour date encountered unpredictable SF fog. Great service and great quality tour.

Excellent preselected locations, great historical info about photo sites, helped with camera setup and equipment adjustments, very knowledgeable, provided list of all sites visited for post processing, made recommendations for specific Lightroom adjustments to improve final image, highly recommended if you want help to get great photos

Doc is amazing! He listened to what we wanted, planned our outing, and drove us around to wonderful photo spots. We absolutely would not have gone to so many places on our own because we didn’t know about them! Doc also taught us about the area along the way. We couldn’t have asked for a better guide.

This was a great experience for my husband and me. Doc picked us up at our hotel and brought us to some fabulous sites for photos. He gave some great tips to my husband and taught him some things about his camera that my husband didn't know he could do. This was a one-on-one experience. We really enjoyed our time with Doc and appreciated his knowledge of San Francisco and photography. Definitely worth the money!

Booked Doc's tour for the last night of a SF work trip and boy am I glad that I did! There is no way I could have visited so many great photo locations and ended up with the pictures I did (my friends were all amazed). Doc couldn't have been any greater. He knew which locations to visit at which times, he helped me with my camera settings so I could get the 'perfect' shot, and he's just a fun guy to be around. He knows a lot about SF and shared such interesting tidbits with me as we toured different spots; the history buff in me loved it. Thanks for a great time, Doc, and sorry it took me so long to write a review :) I'll sign up for the sunrise tour next time I'm in SF!

What a great time. Doc took me to some “local knowledge” spots to get the best perspectives on the Golden Gate Bridge and the city. He gave me some key pointers when the daylight faded to make sure I captured the photo. Additionally, Doc has a treasure trove of historic knowledge about the places we visited. Highly recommended!

I had just 2 days for a Yosemite and San Francisco (sunset) tour - and Doc organized them just perfect. He knows the best locations and timing for perfect photos. Additionally, he gives valuable technical tips and tricks for the photo shooting. Best of all, Doc is an amiable and informative guide. I enjoyed every minute of his company. Moreover, when I lost my lens at the last shooting, only realizing it at the airport, he went back found it in the middle of the night and sent it back to Germany. Doc, it arrived in perfect condition - thanks again! Whenever I will be in the area, I certainly will book another tour with Doc and I'm already looking forward to it :-)

I had a great time learning from Doc and being taken to THE BEST spots for capturing photos of the Golden Gate and Bay bridges. Despite the fact that the Golden Gate was all but invisible when we set out, Doc's positive thinking worked magic on the fog and the end result was fantastic night shots. We did the sunset tour with Doc and loved every minute. Doc showed us a variety of vantage points for the iconic photo shoots of San Francisco as well as showing us other locations and attractions that were not frequented by loads of tourists. Doc is a really great guy and we had an amazing time. My husband and son came along for the trip and were so glad that they had. Doc took us to locations that we would otherwise not have seen and knew all the best places to get amazing views of the Golden Gate Bridge. I'm very much an amateur photographer and he helped me with settings on my camera when I wasn't sure, as well as helping whenever I got in a tangle with my tripod ;) We had been slightly worried about the weather as the fog was so thick in the morning but it cleared up completely, we couldn't have asked for better conditions for taking photos. Doc's knowledge of San Francisco is second to none and my husband commented afterwards that he had learnt more about the city from Doc than he had from the tour guide on our tour of the city earlier that day. He also spent more time with us than we expected. I would highly recommend this tour, it is so worth it.

Doc is fantastic. Great conversationalist, knows the sights, and incredibly helpful with ideas and tips. He packed more into the time than I could have imagined. I can’t recommend him highly enough. I’m going to contact him next time I travel here too; I want to shoot even more.

Had a fabulous time with Doc on our tour. He took us to fantastic locations that we had never been to in San Francisco. He knows exactly when to get there and where to get the best shots in each location. He showed me settings on my camera that I was unaware of. He was informative, patient and extremely knowledgeable. I had a great time with Doc on the SF Sunset Tour! It was incredibly helpful to have a tour guide familiar with the area who knew the best view points. I wouldn’t have made it to most of these spots on my own. I’ve done night time tours before but I’m still a beginner for sure. Doc helped me set up my camera and patiently reminded me why we used the settings that we did. Never once was bored with the conversation, he said great to chat with ! Definitely bring good sneakers, a jacket, and gloves! It can be windy and cold and several of these spots.

I went out with Doc back in April for the Sunset Photography Tour. He really knows the area and takes you to the top spots as well as some local spots not a lot of people know about. Having lived in SF, Doc knew a lot about the history and was good conversation. Taught me a lot about photography as well. Would highly recommend Doc for others looking to book.

My Sunset Photography Tour with Doc Miles was a great experience. Even though I have visited San Francisco before, Doc showed me locations I did not know of before and somehow we arrived at each at a perfect time to photograph it with excellent light. Our wide-ranging, easy going conversation added to the enjoyment of the evening. Then to top it off I got an invitation from him for a night-time photography meetup the next evening when he learnt I was free the next evening. So I got a second evening shoot and an opportunity to shoot some additional locations. Thanks Doc! Hope to do another shoot with you sometime soon!

This tour was amazing, it exceeded all expectations. Doc Miles is a true gentleman and amazing photographer, offering as much or as little advice as you ask for. We visited locations for the iconic bridge photos that I desperately wanted as well as some lesser know spots that only a local could know about. Doc's vehicle was very nice and I always felt safe while driving, so much easier than hiring a car and trying to find my own way around. With Doc's calm, easy going nature, I never felt rushed to move on to the next location but somehow Doc managed to time it so we were there at exactly the right time. Doc spent so much time sharing ideas for taking photos, processing in Lightroom, suggestions to help me with my equipmemt, even emailing me a list of great photography locations for the rest of my stay, he is clearly very passionate about what he does. I enjoyed this tour so much i am currently trying to plan how i can get back to go on one of the longer ones. I would highly recommend this tour.

I had the pleasure of participating in this tour with Doc Miles. Doc has extensive inside knowledge of the best spots for shooting in SF and he will drive you there with ease. During my roughly four hour tour, we photographed in at least six different spots, all of them surprisingly beautiful. We did different vistas of the Golden Gate bridge, from the beach, from above, from the Marin side, during dusk and in the blue hour. We also photographed the city lights from the top of telegraph hill. I had a whim to shoot the Bay Bridge from Embarcadero and Doc happily took me there and knew the best spot for that shot. Doc will help you with camera settings and composition if you want or need it. I highly recommend his SF sunset tour.

Doc Miles' San Francisco Sunset Photography Tour was a Five-Star experience from beginning to end. I found Doc while researching various photography tour options for a recent trip to San Francisco. A few highlights: (1) communicative, quickly confirmed my request for a tour, called me ahead of arriving at my hotel, etc. (2) Doc delivered the photography tour exactly as described on his website, (3) Doc, himself, was a valuable resource: easy to talk to, knowledgeable about photography and San Francisco, and efficient with time. I've done photography tours in other cities (Berlin, London, Chicago, etc.) and this tour was by far my best photography experience. I would connect with Doc again for a different tour in the future and would recommend Doc to others.

We had a fantastic time with Doc while we were in San Francisco. Not only was the tour wonderful, resulting in some fantastic photos, we made a new friend. Doc's tour is everything all the good reviews on Tripadvisor are saying. We had great communication in the lead up, he collected us from our hotel, drove us in his epic big black Land Rover to amazing locations and helped us get some cracking shots. We were taken to several spots that we would never have found on our own. One of our favourite spots ended up being a view down towards Point Bonita lighthouse. Doc also gave advice on composition, provided insights into the history of the locations, kept us entertained, and even had a spare tripod, bottled water etc. to help out if needed. A tip, Doc advises to bring a warm jacket on the tour, do follow this advice as it was surprisingly chilly with strong breezes at some of the locations. The city seems to do summer a bit differently to other places! The 4th July happened to be the following evening and Doc called us up and asked if we wanted to join him, shooting the fireworks from a location he'd found. We had a wonderful evening. Aware we had been hoping for a bridge + fog shot, Doc also called us up a day or so later to let us know there looked like fog coming under the bridge and did we want to go photograph it? Well...yes! This type of customer care is unheard of in my experience. Can't recommend the tour enough. Beyond having a wonderful tour and getting great photos, we came away from our time in San Francisco feeling like we've made a new friend. We genuinely hope that, should Doc find his way back down to Oz at some point, we have the chance to catch up and show him some of the changes to our city since his last stay.

Do not pass by this trip because you think it is too expensive. I thought about the chance to see San Francisco in new ways. Adventurers live longer. Darn it this was something I really wanted to do. I absolutely had so much fun. We had high winds, iffy looking sky. But Doc got us in the right place at the right time of the day. He knows his city. I'm a seasoned photographer who hates tripods and wasn't good at night shooting. Of course you must use a tripod in low light. I definitely improved my skills. A bored 15 year old who likes cameras will jump for job. A determined older person will feel young. I will never say I can't take night pictures again.

doc took me to some great locations.i would highly recommend one of docs tours.he even picked me up the next day for a dawn shoot free of charge.
