Easy trip out. Commentary was informative and factual. The fresh air of the woods was noticeable after the hike smell of San Francisco.

Itinerary
Ride from your hotels downtown or FIsherman's Wharf to the Northern Side of the Golden Gate Bridge
Go through the city and listen to the narrated tour. From Union Square to the Wharf to the Bridge. On your way you will pass by The Palace of Fine Arts was built for Panama-Pacific International Exposition held in San Francisco in 1915 to celebrate the completion of the Panama Canal, but it was widely seen in the city as an opportunity to showcase its recovery from the 1906 earthquake.
Drive through the oldest part of the city, the Presidio. See the new Presidio Highway, the Tunnel Top Gardens, and the Crissy Field, Air Force base during WWII.
Cross the most famous Bridge on Earth and enjoy stunning views of the Pacific, the Marin Headlands on your left, and the SF Bay on your right. It was opened in 1937 and is painted orange-red to be more visible in the fog. Make a short stop at the Vista Point on the Northern side and take pictures of the Bridge, the bay, Fort Baker, and downtown SF. See The Lone Sailor, a bronze sculpture, tribute to all who have served or are currently serving in the Navy, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, and the Merchant Marine.
Ride from the Golde Gate Bridge to the Muir Woods. See the stunning views of Richardson Bay, Sausalito, Tiburon, Strawberry Point, and Mount Tamalpais. Listen to the history of Marin County, and Muir Woods.
Enjoy the natural beauty of Coastal Sequoias! Muir Woods National Monument is a National Monument named after naturalist John Muir. It is located on Mount Tamalpais near the Pacific coast in SW Marin County and is part of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area, just 12 miles (19 km) north of SF. It protects 554 acres (224 ha) of which 240 acres (97 ha) are old growth coast redwood (Sequoia sempervirens) forests, the tallest living objects on Earth. Due to its proximity to the Pacific Ocean, the forest is regularly shrouded in a coastal marine layer fog. It remains cool and moist year-round with daytime temperatures averaging between 40 and 70 degrees Fahrenheit (4 to 21 °C). Millions of years ago ancestors of redwood and sequoia trees grew throughout North America. Today, the Sequoia sempervirens can be found only in a narrow, cool coastal belt from Monterey County, California, in the south to Oregon in the north.
Ride from Muir Woods to Sausalito. Listen to the history of Sausalito on your way to this beautiful town just north of the Golden Gate Bridge!
Visit Sausalito! Amazing views of the bay, downtown, and Bay Bridge! Always on the top of the most beautiful little cities in America! Strategically located on Pacific Coast HW, it was home to Ferries, running to Hyde Str. Pier in SF. During WWII it was home to a major Marinship shipyard where the Liberty ships were built. In the late 1960s, the houseboat communities occupied the waterfront along and adjacent to Sausalito's shore. If you want to spend more time there, you can take the Ferry back to the city, it costs about $15 extra. Great Seafood Restaurants! Art Galleries!

It is a nice tour to Muir Woods, a little time to disengaged from social media, as there is no reception in the woods. Fresh air, and large trees, time to unwind and be in nature, listening to nature sounds. Then we went to Sausalito for lunch and ice cream and back to city. Our tour guide Jerry was friendly and knowledgeable. Pick up at the hotel was convenient.
Peter led an excellent tour. He was very knowledgeable about each of the stops on the tour, took excellent group photographs at each stop, and provided a lot of extra background information and stories that were excellent. In addition, he added two special stops to the tour in addition to what we had purchased. Each additional stop enhanced our experience quite a lot. We were very happy with Peter and the tour. We had an excellent time all morning long.
Informative and perfect way to spend the afternoon. Muir Woods is incredible and was fun to learn about and experience. We had a very good dinner in Sausalito at Copita, as recommended by our guide. Small tour size was a plus.
I have done tours before and did one in LA city for 7-8 hours. This trip in comparison was very brief, but we knew that before starting. Only reason to go with this trip was, as we were unable to find parking at the Muir Woods. The bus was small and uncomfortable. Corner Seats have metal rods that make sitting rather difficult. Buddy was a good tour guide.
Friendly and very knowledgeable guide. Lots of historical info to and from Muir Woods. Beautiful hike through paved and boardwalk trails. Stop at Golden Gate Bridge.
What a great outing! Our tour guide Jerry was fun and informative. The tour was perfectly paced. Muir Woods was stunning and the stop in serene Saucalito was a perfect follow up after that experience. Loved it!
Jerry has an extensive knowledge of the history of the Bay Area and shares his expertise generously. He is friendly, kind, and quick to offer to take your group’s photo during a scenic stop! Highly recommend!
Micheal was a great host and I appreciated that I could be picked up at my hotel. The drive wasn’t too long and Micheal had lots of details about the local history. The Muir Woods was amazing but a bit colder than I anticipated so I ended up having to buy a sweatshirt up at the gift shop. Bring a good jacket. The redwoods were absolutely breathtaking. Saulsalito was a gorgeous little harbor town. We only had an hour in Saulsalito so if I had to do it again I would forgo the tourist shops and sit down at a nice restaurant instead. I highly recommend this half day tour and would definitely do it again.
Great trip, our tour guide, Michael was great. Very informative. Got us right into the park with no issues, gave us suggestions for trails. Also liked how it wasn’t a huge bus, it was a small tour so we didn’t really have to wait on a lot of people
Muir Woods and Sausalito are both fantastic destinations. Scheduling a tour reduces some of the logistics but you tour can be frustrating due to very slow driving speed and non-stop commentary from guide. Would have liked to have more effective transportation between stops allowing longer visit times. Next time I will rent a Turo.
Everything was great. Michael, our guide, was awesome. He was able to pick us up at our hotel right on time and had a lot of information about the San Francisco, Muir Woods, and Sausalito. He was also able to drop us off in Fisherman's Wharf so we could make our Alcatraz tour. Trip fee and time in Muir Woods and Sausalito is comparable to all of the other similar tours. Would book again.
Muir woods was an amazing experience. Michael was a wonderful tour guide. I just wish we could have spent more time at Muir Woods to explore.
This was an amazing trip. Muir Woods is always great. The host was very knowledgeable and provided lots of insight and had great stops along theway to show us other parts of San Francisco.
This tour was one of the highlights of our trip. Muir Woods is absolutely stunning and being able to walk among those giant redwood trees was something I will never forget. Pictures truly do not do it justice. It felt peaceful, quiet, and almost sacred walking through the forest. The entire experience was very well organized and easy. Our guide was friendly and shared interesting information along the way, which made the drive enjoyable too. Sausalito was such a fun stop. It is a beautiful little waterfront town with amazing views of the bay. We loved walking around, taking pictures, and just soaking it all in. If you are visiting San Francisco, I highly recommend this tour. It is a wonderful way to see the redwoods and experience a charming coastal town without having to worry about transportation or planning the trip yourself. It ended up being one of our favorite experiences.
Great trip. Loved the whole experience from start to finish. Our driver was informative and witty. Would highly recommend
Everything was wonderful! A very knowledgeable and friendly tour guide. Highly recommend!
Really enjoyed the trip and guide Michael was excellent really knowledgeable. The woods are really beautiful- it would be good to be able to stay longer than the 90minutes- I would prefer that to the stop in Sausalito - but we couldn’t find any tours that do this.
A great, small-group (five passengers) excursion that went in a small van across the Golden Gate Bridge to Marin County (with a 10-minute stop to take photos of the bay and the bridge) and Muir Woods (entrance fee included in the tour price), where we had about an hour and a half to walk around the coastal redwoods. Then off to Sausalito, where we had an hour at leisure and then back to San Francisco. Hotel pick-up and drop-off were included, which was very helpful. The guide was friendly and informative, and the tour length (roughly four hours) was the ideal length. I loved walking through Muir Woods on a mild January morning - it felt practically mystical. The tour operators "behind the scenes" were also pleasant, communicative and helpful. Really well done!
Muir Woods and Sausalito tour was great. Our tour guide Peter was extremely informative and knowledgeable. Would highly recommend this tour.
Peter text day before about pick up time and location, right at our hotel! Loved small group size. Peter was excellent guide and knowledgeable.
It was a very hectic but magical Sunday in August 2025! Just landed and had an early check-in at my hotel. Did a quick change in wardrobe and off to my adventure in Muir Woods and Sausalito! Peter, our guide was prompt and respectful to all. A jovial, precise on details, and a pleasant guide. Our tour were friendly and tour went smoothly. Muir Woods turned out to be a delight! I was a little worried if I would lost in the forest, but it was calm, serene and the map and signs were easy to understand. It felt magical when inside this wondrous natural sanctuary. I felt at peace and the redwoods are strong, sturdy, reddish in vigour and vitality. Very unique, luscious and magnificent! I felt something within... The Redwoods may have a healing effect... I also enjoyed a briefing from the forest ranger. She was insightful about redwood trees. I left Muir Woods, feeling like I had uncovered the mystery and secrets within. Yes, this is a truly soul defining experience for me. Thank you! ❤️😘
Comfortable ride, driver was informative but if you sit in the back you can't hear. Don't expect to be close to the Golden Gate Bridge for great photo op or to take a short walk on the bridge. We stopped at a lower area from the bridge where people are kayaking. Also if several pick ups are within a short walk from each other expect that you might not get dropped off in front of your hotel where you're picked up. Overall it's a Comfortable ride to Muir Woods and Sausalito.
A fantastic half day trip. A complete contrast to San Francisco. Muir Woods were stunning & so calming. We had time to walk up to bridge 4, and loop around back to bridge 1 in less than 1 hour. Sausilito is so picturesque. Had a walk around the harbour & back to town to the deli. The pastrami roll was huge & would feed 2. My kids went to the pizza shop next door. A huge slice of gorgeous pizza was $6. Our driver Buddy was fantastic and so frisndly & knowledgeable. My son left his prescription sunglasses on the bus & he kindly dropped them at our reception for us. Definitely recommend.
Hi, I’m Outback Al from Australia I like travelling. I spent a few days in San Francisco and booked a tour to visit the Muir woods and Sausalito with Viator. The tour guide was great as he drove over the Golden Gate bridge we saw the speculator view of the San Francisco Bay. Walking the trail at Muir woods was a wonderful experience feeling the natural nature of the woods and to see the 400 feet tall red wood trees was incredible. It was one of those moments when you can't help but gawk at how incredible nature is. Once we left Muir woods and travelled to Sausalito an historic city you want to eat everything. With many restaurants on the block, you're constantly breathing in the wafting smells of freshly grilled food tortillas and juicy hamburgers and a taste of Mexico salsa.
Our guide Peter was friendly, funny, and informative. The Redwoods are a sight you have to see and Sausalito was a lovely little place. Peter gave us some recommendations of good places to go. We had a drink looking across the water to the city. I like that this tour included the entry fee to the woods too. We had a lovely afternoon.
Awesome tour with Jeff. A real wealth of information! Our guide and driver was very warm and friendly, offering to take pics of everyone and had many great suggestions when stopped at Sausalito for lunch (Copita Restaurant and Lappers for ice cream). Muir Woods history background and visit was wonderful. Our 3 daughters (ages 14, 18 and 20) enjoyed immensely. Definitely worth the price!
Very convenient pickup from our hotel, and then on to beautiful Muir Woods. We enjoyed the peaceful walk through the redwoods and then Sausalito for a great seafood lunch. A wonderful afternoon!
Great tour, had plenty of time to explore everything we wanted to look at. Stop for photo-op at Golden Gate Bridge was an added bonus. Our tour guide/driver (Buddy) was very knowledgeable, friendly, and had good stories.

Randy was great! Highly recommend his tour, very knowledgeable and friendly. He had fun and helpful information along the way and directed me to the additional trail at Muir Woods.
This was a great tour and experience. The guide was very knowledgeable and shared so much information. The content was so appropriate for the type of tour. I would strongly recommend anyone doing this tour who wants to get out and about and sample Mother Nature.
Buddy, my guide, was very friendly and knowledgeable and funny! Very personable, took great pictures too! Tour was great and on-time, very communicative.
Short and sweet tour, and the durations were just nice. Tour guide was friendly, humorous and knowledgeable about the attractions. It would be good if we can spend 1.5 hours in Sausalito instead of 1 hour 15 minutes, so we can include some eating time too.
Jerry was a great guide. His tip for a photo opp at Muir Woods resulted in one of my favorite photos of my trip. Knowledgeable about the area and a delight to be around.
Amazing time walking through Muir woods, enjoying the solitude and majesty of those amazing trees. Our guide, Randy, was absolutely the best. Randy has a ton of knowledge about the San Francisco area and gave us a quick tour on our way back. As mentioned, Sausalito is pretty quiet during the winter, so just know that as you go. Lots of shops closed. We were fortunate to have a small group, only 4, so it felt like a personal tour. Highly recommend!!!
Guide was knowledgeable, punctual, an excellent communicator, and a skilled photographer. Absolutely recommend this guide and his company.
This is one attraction that you should not pass up! Although the closer we got to Muir Woods, the scarier the road became (I'm not used to curvy roads) I would not have missed my visit to Muir Woods for anything. It was amazing and I was in awe of the beauty that I saw that day. Included in the trip was a visit with time for shopping or lunch in Salsilito. We opted to take the ferry back to the city instead of the tour van so we could explore more of Salsilito.
Great tour! Vlad was fantastic! Loved the relaxed pace. Staff are extremely knowledgeable and friendly! Would definitely recommend any tour.
Randy the tour guide went above and beyond. I loved the walk at Muir woods, the gift shop, and the tour for Sausalito.
The entire Muir wood's and Sausalito trip was awsome the driver Jerry, was very knowledgeable fun, knew the history of san francisco and surrounding area very well he was patient, thoughtful we really admired him to the fullest when he said be back on time he meant it, Jerry if you read this Bert & Sandy said Thanks a million
The views were very beautiful and Muir Woods was definitely a must-see for me. Sausalito was also really nice but I would have liked a bit more time to explore.
We really only booked for the transportation up to Muir Woods but the narration along the way was nice. Our driver also recommended great restaurants in Sausalito. Took the ferry home rather than the tour.
Our Guide Joe shared a lot of information and his experience with is. Muir Woods is certainly worth visiting, it's a green oasis not too far from the city. I would certainly recommend to stay longer in Sausalito in the afternoon and return by ferry to the city. There is a lot of activity in this harbour town.
Buddy is a great tour guide! Shared a lit of great info and tips! Helpful with photos! We would recommend this tour and driver!
Very interesting tour, good communication for the pickup operations, very competent, friendly, and helpful guide
Very nice tour. The information Michael gave very complete and interesting. If you wish to stay in Sausalito and took the afternoon tour make sure you take the last ferry to return because the last departures are early
