We visit any Hard Rock that’s in a city we are visiting so know the chain very well. However one of the entrees wasn’t as it should have been and my partner could not eat it. Without having the ask the manager came and spoke to us, apologised and removed it from the bill. Great customer service as it’s not keys about getting it right but how you handle it when it goes wrong. Would definitely visit again

Back in 1971, Americans Isaac Tigrett and Peter Morton opened the first Hard Rock Cafe in London. Their landlord didn’t think they could pull it off, so he granted them a three-month lease. We went on 2 occasions, the staff were friendly and helpful and the food was delicious. The mocktails were also very nice. I also bought a souvenir glass and a couple of Hard Rock t-shirts from the store! We will definitely be back!
Lovely food, waitress Toni was amazing, cheerful, very helpful and a great sense of humour. She deserves a wage rise, that good. 12 out 10 from me and my partner.
We stopped in here randomly one afternoon while in town. We sat up at the bar, and our bartender was fantastic. She poured our drinks well, and was very friendly. When we told her we were bar-hopping, she started recommending places to try and which ones to avoid. I would name drop her, but I forgot to get it. She had long, bright blue hair and was working on Sat 5/16 if management happens to read this. She did not steer us wrong!
After visiting multiple Hard Rocks all over the world, this one felt very soul less. Not much music memorabilia or anything…you could be in any restaurant really but with the HR price tag which is a real shame. Visually from outside it looks nice and the shop, the bar with guitar ceiling is cool but thats literally it. Restrooms were gross too. The food was good as always which is the main thing. I probably wouldn’t tell anyone to visit here
The waiting times were really long even if there were lots of available tables, so it really seemed like they needed more staff, but the food was incredibly good, one of the best restaurants ive been in. I will definetly come back!!
Love going to hard rocks. The food is good n reasonable priced and the servers are friendly. But the best part is checking out the memorabilia on the wall.
Excellent as always friendly service and staff are chatty food well cooked and prepared enjoyed our meal and especially the ice cream for dessert big and spacious restaurant
We had spent a few hours in Alcatraz, so once back, needed a fast type of meal rather than a proper restaurant. It was very good for fast food. The staff were nice, seemed clean and music very good
Iovanny was our server, provided good insight into menu and beverages Great sense of humour and attentive service Cheers mate from the 6 Aussies
Hard Rock delivers! This one is no exception. Great service and ambience. We had a dessert outside and it was just lovely.
Food and service was decent and would have no complaints if it was a normal restaurant. However, for it to have the hard rock cafe name, I would expect it to match the hard rock cafe vibe and environment to justify the price tag. Other than the gift shop and the names on the menus, the link to hard rock cafe is gone. Having visited hard rock cafes around the world the vibe here is completely missing. Needs to be looked at by management and changes needed.
I loved my experience at the Hard Rock. The food was delicious. My server was fantastic. It had exactly what I wanted to eat at that moment. I have not been to a Hard Rock Cafe in a while so this one by far has the least amount of memorabilia that I have been to. I am not sure if that is harder to come by but the music playing in the background made for a wonderful atmosphere. My reason for review is that my New York Strip was undercooked so I was not able to eat all of it but it was flavorful. I would recommend coming here.
Got to be the Cheapest Happy Hour to have in San Francisco.. Portions are big . Bar Tender are cool. No Complaint...Sit at the Bar chat with your neighbor. You're all good
Visited on a Saturday night and it was quite empty which was surprising. It was also a bit odd for a Hard Rock as it was quite bright and there was no rock music playing; the TV was playing pop music videos. It just didn't have the same vibe as other Hard Rocks. We noticed a few tables were having some issues which didn't bode well but the burger I ordered was tasty and the ribeye steak that my husband had was apparently very nice. Service was a bit slow. It took a while for our drinks to come and I had to ask twice for some sauce; it looked like the first time I asked it went to the wrong table… Overall a nice meal but not as it should be.
Visited many Hard Rock Cafes in different countries this is not worst but clearly not the best. The portions were on the small side and the food was not hottest. Not a Hard Rock I would visit again if I was a local
Great overall. Thank you for the great service and the manager was very helpful and amazing. Love this place. Thanks for everything.
Bloody rip off!! Avoid. Wish i'd of bought a hotdog from street vendor! Daylight robbery!!!! Fries were so small I had to order my 9 yr old two portions and she was still hungery. Avoid at all costs unless you like to waste your money
Do not accommodate disabled people. Told to move from low seat to sit at high seat at bar.. We went in for a drink told to go on in. No one said you have to go to the bar. We found an empty table, immediately waitress was angry asked who told you to sit there. She went to front counter yelled at girls in Spanish pointed at us. One girl from front came and said you have to move, I asked where to she said high bar stools. I walk with a cane have movement issues, so explained I am unable to sit on a high stool. “Have a nice day then” we were dismissed. I said okay then we will go elsewhere, “Have a nice day”. Extreme sarcasm is the only was to describe her look and dismissal. I stopped at front counter and said you need to be clear with your instructions again Have a nice day, which quite frankly irked me, asked for the manager, who came told her what happened but by this time the sarcastic Have a nice days had done their job. Never will darken this chains doorway again.
It is almost 14 years since I was last here and it is still a great place. There is a wide choice of food. The food is excellent and good value and the service spot on. We went in an evening and still had to wait for seating. There was good crowd in and a few birthdays being celebrated. If you want to spend time exploring Fishermans Wharf, then this is well worth exploring whilst you rest and refuel.
For the marquee location at the entrance to Pier 39 the prices are very reasonable and a meal for 3 came to roughly $100 including one round of drinks. However, we arrived when the location was quite empty and we found the service very slow compared to other Hard Rock locations I have visited. Once we were finally seen to the food did not take long however it felt like the waiting staff were under-resourced and had too much to do each.
Considering this is on Pier 39 the prices were some of the best during our whole trip. The food was great especially the rack of ribs just thinking about them is making me hungry. The service was second to none and its a pity everywhere is not as good as this. Would most highly recommend
Wow! We only went here for a drink and the reception we received from the bar man was so rude we only stayed for one drink and then left. I have never experienced service like this before at the Hard Rock. Was very disappointing and can categorically say we will never go back here. Very disappointing
Really really bad sevice. I felt because I was paying with a voucher I was not given the same kind of sevice everyone else would get. And the wait time for my food was way to long. I was there for 2 hours trying to get sevice. Do not make my mistake and go to this business. They are bad with sevice.
Overcharged for a cocktail, charged an extra 4.99 for a keepsake glass that wasn’t wanted. Rude barman, slow service, bar area was filthy, toilets were worse, we were going to order food but one look at the cleanliness in this dump changed our minds, avoid like the plaque
We visited the Hard Rock Cafe at Fisherman's Wharf San Francisco and the food was poor, at best. The service was fine but the food was terrible. My "Messi Chicken Burger" was overcooked, tasted weird and inedible so I left it. Fries were fine. My wife had the chicken tenders which were ok until she bit into the last one and found quite a big bone. We informed the guy who served us who in turn and to his credit informed his boss who did offer to replace the meal but it was all but eaten by then so my wife was full so a refund offer would have been appreciated but this was not offered.
First Stella was flat. 2nd beer flat. Steak burger pink as in raw. Took it away. By the time one was cooked properly I had eaten my meal. Worst one we have been to. 7th post I have read about flat draught beer. The lines need cleaning.
It was first visit to this particular Hard Rock Cafe, and I just walked in from the street for lunch with absolutely no waiting time. I was shown to a great table between the bar and stage, and as usual enjoyed the food and drink on offer. The service was swift, friendly and professional. I received an $8 from the Unity loyalty scheme which I didn't expect, so that was a bonus. I'd imagine at peak times due its location, the cafe can become very busy, so it's probably best to book in advance.
Came here twice in the week were in San Fran as my teen daughter loves it. Sad to say it wasn't the best hard rock experience I have ever had but it was not terrible as well. The first time we came it took forever to get served even though it was not too busy. Asked for sauce which never came and had to ask again, waited ages to get servers attention so we could order more drinks. The fajitas were terrible but that could have been just a bad cut of meat. The second time we came we had a better dining experience. Service was still very slow but slightly better when needing more drinks, it was also much quieter. I had the salmon which was amazing, I had to slow myself down from eating it so fast. In summary, the normal hard rock experience and it was generally pretty good.
My wife and I were in SFO for just a short weekend and I wanted to take her around to see the sights so we started with Pier 39. After walking around we went to the HRC just to get a snack and some beers. We sat ourselves at the bar and it was fairly slow for a Friday afternoon. We ordered a round and the chicken nachos. The bartender was friendly and the food was good (very large portion). It was weird how incredibly cold it was though. It was about 40F outside and they had their doors open so those of us at the bar were wearing hats and coats which was odd. There is a lot of memorabilia to see and they also have a nice gift shop - my wife got a hoodie (probably cause she was freezing).
My wife and I ate at Pier 39 HARD ROCK after attending THE LION KING with Sports Leisure Vacations from Sacramento. The play was outstanding! Due to some ambulatory problems, we went to HARD ROCK as it was the closest to where the bus let us off for post play supper. Though quite noisy due to the continuous music, we found a very pleasant dining experience. The staff were very courteous and prompt, our waiter CK was a great, efficient server with personality plus. He was outstanding! Though the food was typical pub food, it was prepared well and served hot with all the accompanying things needed to enjoy. Though we had concerns about our dining choice, we left very impressed with our entire experience. The manager stopped and talked about our meal, the service and was very concerned to be sure this meal was to our liking. Our stop at the gift store led us to get a souvenir t-shirt for our grand daughter. All and all, a very nice meal at a chain that really seemed to care about their customers!
We were rudely mocked by the bartender simply because our accents are different to his. I demanded he apologise (which he did, begrudgingly) and we left. A terrible experience because of one man’s ignorance. I’ve always been a fan of the HRC but sadly this experience of appalling and hurtful customer service has left me somewhat weary of drinking or eating at an HRC again.
Pretty much the worst dining experience in SF. My sprite was topped up with water and not replaced. We never had any sauces of any sort Main course came out when we were still having starters So service was (sorry Joey - very poor) The food; bland is the most polite term I could uae
Yummy food, large and well satisfying portions, great burgers and super-amazing nachos. Great cocktails, great music, nice relaxing environment. Very good quality price ratio. We felt service was hurried up from 1 hr before closure on a night with not many clients. Nice Hard Rock Café shop too, also this closes sooner than the restaurant.
Nice server, nice food, nice atmosphere. Very similar experience to what you’d get anywhere so if you know what you like it’s a good place to go.
Having read other reviews, I cannot complain about service or food received here. Stopped off twice, once just for a drink at the bar - service was prompt and drinks as ordered. Second time for a dinner and again althou busy seated & served within a decent time. Food as expected good and hot. Yes the service charges and taxes are starting to add up nowadays on USA bills - that's not HRC fault its everywhere, is it right maybe not. If you don't get good service you don't have to pay the tip, but the taxes are the states doing and maybe needs addressing within the US themselves because it will put people off (Especially tourists) at some point. HRC over to you on the taxes, but other than that keep up the good work
Initial thoughts weren’t great as we had to arrange and set our own table. The young lady who took our order was great but when the starter arrived we requested plates and napkins, neither of which arrived. The main courses arrived midway through our starters and, despite us telling the server we were yet to finish our starters, he continued to make room on the table and left the main courses all the same. Again we requested more napkins and sauces, neither of which came. The final straw came with the bill which included obscure and excessive taxes, none of which were charged at previous restaurants we have visited in the area. Enter James Pratt. James noticed that we were deliberating over the bill and came over and explained the details to our satisfaction. He then went over and above by reassuring us that, if we were to give them another chance, he would ensure our expectations would be exceeded. I appreciate issues occur in all service industries but it’s how you resolve them that counts and James certainly resolved this one.
Restaurant was about 10% filled with employees everywhere but just walking around. We were seated quickly but nobody helped us. Servers walked by and even made eye contact but nobody offered to help us. After 20 minutes with nobody coming to our table we left. As we walked out an employee asked why we were leaving. A really poor experience. The food that was delivered to other tables looked good.
On arrival at this establishment we were told of a 20% addition to the bill for a gratuity. Crikey we thought, that's a lot but we would only have nachos and some beers and some cocktails. Having looked at the menu we saw beers at 8.75 USD. Cocktails around 15 USD. We enjoyed our nachos and drinks and were presented with a bill for 216.50 USD. Wow we thought and scrutinized the bill. Actual cost was 160 USD, with the following added - 4% service charge (6.44 USD), SF employee mandate 6.44 USD, tip/gratuity 12.88 USD, 16% gratuity (25.76USD), food tax 5.57USD, liquor tax 11.64 USD. We noticed that the beers had been charged at 9.25 USD instead of 8.75 USD. So, we challenged the cost. We were told that the beers were 20 ounce and not the standard 16 ounce. We asked where it made this clear on the menu (it didn't) and had we actually had the larger beer. We were assured that we had had these and had to pay for them. Since this, we realised that the larger beer should have come with souvenir glasses to take away as there was no option on the menu to buy the larger beer without the takeaway glass. Just where the 9.25 USD charge came from is beyond me. We spoke to the manager and three or four other staff that crowded around our booth in an intimidatory manner and got absolutely nowhere. We paid and left. On further examination of the bill the next day, we also saw a charge of 11.00 USD for GL Rondo which I have had to Google to find out what it is. Apparently it is a Prosecco drink which we never actually had. So the bill was not only loaded with taxes (can't be avoided) but also with HRC gratuities, things we never had and overcharging for things we did order. Not a pleasant experience. Please look out for these things before paying. It takes some deducing from the way the bill is presented and be prepared for the intimidatory response from the staff. We have visited HRC all over the world (got the tee shirts) and have never been in a position like this before.
They automatically add Tip and Service charges, 20%, for mediocre Service and Food. Ambiance is nice with all the Music Memorabilia. Do not waste your Money here!!!!
Staff and atmosphere was very unfriendly und beyond horrible considering to service that they offer as usually. Fussy & lazy bartender etc I had a feeling they are making big favor to move they body. Highly not recommend this place, full of back and yellow raciest against white lonely student
Very good live music on November 24th,2022 acoustic Guitar man,all staff very kind ti the shop top.delicious strawberry cheesecake
Had to wait for 30 minutes to get in but once in service was very quick. The food was nice and served very quickly by a very nice server
My Wife and I have just had a Meal here I have to say we were treated like Royalty, Our Server was very attentive and the Manager was lovely. The food was excellent I had Baby Back Ribs and my wife had a Cheeseburger. I can’t recommend this Restaurant enough if you want to eat on Fisherman’s Wharf and you don’t want fish
Absolutely the worst HRC we’ve been to. Took ages to get drinks which arrived at the same time as the first appetizer, followed by a twenty minute wait for the other, then the first main meal came out - which was sent back-then a long wait for the worst non-sizzling dripping in fat so-called fajitas we’ve ever had, then the first meal came back out obviously reheated. A complete joke and then, yes we got the “let’s charge an additional 50%” bill. What a rip off! Throughout all this we were unable talk to each other due to the cacophony created by a so- called performer. Note to management: we’re there to eat and socialize. Badly run, poorly managed and a shoddy representation of an iconic brand. You should close your doors in shame.
Ok, so we'd already walked out of the Wipeout Bar & Grill because the smell of fish was so bad in there and we don't eat fish. So we chose Hard Rock as we've had some good meals in other cities in the USA in the past at Hard Rock. Before seating us, the lady tells us they add a 20% mandatory service charge to the bill. That shocked us and we almost walked out of there too, but by this time, we just wanted something to eat so went with it. We always tip well anyway but that should NEVER be mandatory! You tip based on the level of service you receive and to be perfectly honest, it wasn't. The restaurant wasn't overly busy and we still waited ages just to get drinks. Maybe that's why it was mandatory, because the service is pretty bad and they know you aren't going to give maybe more than 10-15%?? The food was excellent, I can't fault that, but to add on the service charge is just wrong. At least make the 20% worthwhile!! Can't give anymore than 2 stars in this case, purely down the principle of that. Do better HRC.
Very poor vegan option. Option wad a vegan impossible burger, but bun wasn't vegan and served with cheddar cheese.
Richard, the floor supervisor, went above and beyond! He spent time with us, updated our rewards card, gave my wife a gift as we were celebrating her birthday. We have been to many Hard Rock Cafes during our travels (my wife collects the hurricane glasses) but our waiter James and especially Richard made this the best Hard Rick experience ever! Great food and awesome atmosphere!
Terrible from the moment we walked in. Took 20 mins to get 2 bottled beers. Forgot to take our food order, then 1 meal came within 90 seconds so I can only assume it was a spare or returned one to the kitchen that was sitting there drying out. 15 mins later my husband went and asked for the manager. We got a supervisor who didn’t really know how to handle a complaint. We told him to forget the food. We’d pay for our half drunk drinks and go. The only good thing he did eventually on his return, was to give the drink complimentary as we left. This place is more consumed with its image than customer service. Don’t waste your money, there are better restaurants at pier 39.
Not a major fan of franchises - but our youngest sons 17th b'day and he fancied it. I hope they are better out of peak summer season, but for us there was a 30min wait at 2:30pm with lots of spare tables (maybe not enough staff?? Server was really nice and kept apologising for not attending to us quicker. Burgers a bit underwhelming considering this is supposed to be burger/steak restaurant, I put better together myself! Not worth a visit IMO!
