Itinerary
We start our tour at the wonderful Mill Rose Inn, built in the 1980s, is a charming B&B in Half Moon Bay, CA. Inspired by European gardens, it features lush rose gardens, and antique-filled interiors evoking old-world charm amidst modern amenities to create a memorable stay.
Built in 1905 this historic inn is a mile from both Half Moon Bay State Beach and the Half Moon Bay Coastal Trail. A fire nearly burned the building down a few years ago.
Visit and tour the historic downtown with all it's highlights and haunts. Ride past San Benito House, It's Italia, and more of the downtown restaurants and boutique ecclectic shops
Visit the historic Half Moon Bay Jail. Before a jail was built in Half Moon Bay, lawbreakers were held in a wooden shed in the backyard of a judge’s home – which also happened to be the town’s courthouse. The conditions were so bad in the shed that the town’s newspaper called for a new jail and in 1919, the Half Moon Bay Jail was built, still standing today as a historical museum. Although the California Gold Rush attracted ambitious residents to the town, it undoubtedly attracted troublemakers, too. Used primarily as a sheriff’s office and holding cell, the Jail operated until the 1960s – hosting its fair share of overnight bookings and drunken revelers as more dangerous criminals were transferred to the county jail in Redwood City. By the 1970s, the Jail was used as the location for the County’s Mental Health Services office and then ultimately turned over to the city.
Half Moon Bay City Hall c1922, this quaint building looks like a bank because it once was. It was first the Bank of Half Moon Bay, then Bank of Italy, and later Bank of America. 501 Main Street.
Ride by the famed Half Moon Bay Michelin Star restaurant located on Main St. in beautiful Half Moon Bay, CA.
Half Moon Bay, located along the Pacific coastline in California, has a rich history of ocean protection and conservation efforts. The area encompasses various marine protected areas (MPAs) established to safeguard their marine ecosystems and preserve the habitats of various marine species, such as the Moss Beach tide pools or the Fitzgerald Marine Reserve.
See Mavericks, a big wave surf spot located in Half Moon Bay, California, was discovered in the late 1960s. It gained fame in the early 1990s due to a Surfer Magazine photo. Named after a dog named Maverick, the spot hosts some of the world's largest waves and prestigious surf contests. Mavericks remains an iconic and challenging destination for experienced surfers. Mavericks gained worldwide attention for the massive waves, sometimes reaching over 50 feet, making it a premier destination for some of the world's best big wave surfers. In 1999, Mavericks held its first official big wave surf contest, which continues today as one of the most prestigious big wave competitions in the surfing world. Over the years, Mavericks has become a symbol of big wave surfing in California and remains an iconic and challenging location for experienced surfers to test their skills against nature's immense power.
The James Johnston House (c1855) – This unusual saltbox-style home, known as The White House of Half Moon Bay, was built by wealthy Half Moon Bay pioneer James Johnston. The building is now listed on the National Register of Historical Places. 110 Higgins Canyon Road

Had an amazing day on our Half Moon Bay E-bike ride. The weather was gorgeous, the views spectacular and our guide kept us safe and led the way. Would highly recommend.
What a fantastic couple of hours riding around Half Moon Bay. We say some stunning views and we loved scooting around in the E-bikes. The tour guide was great and the trip was a real hit.
My husband and I have the best day, we had so much fun & the guide was very informal & kind. Definitely would go again next time visiting in half moon bay! & The price is worth it !
I really enjoyed our ride. Our guide was was funny and informational. Beautiful views!
The E-Bike tour was fun! I highly recommend it!
I am so glad we decided to do this tour. It was absolutely amazing. Our guide Rob was very knowledgeable and friendly. It was a beautiful ride on great e-bikes. I would absolutely recommend this tour.
We are a couple with a 2.5 yo toddler that took the E-bike tour. The only E-bike that worked for us was the cargo bike with me sitting with the toddler in the back. Tour was fun especially along the coast. Our guide was knowledgeable and friendly. Overall a good experience. We would recommend bringing your own helmet for kids that are younger (they have a small size that did the job but not specifically designed for toddlers). I’d recommend the website to have an age recommendation with ability to put in children’s age when booking.
Rob was friendly & knowledgeable! He was able to point out things of interest. Good pace on a very busy day. We could have purchased a live crab if we wanted. Very fun!
Great fun. Grant took us out on a very nice tour of parts of the city and a beautiful ride along the coast. We would all definitely do it again.
I was lucky I had a beautiful day and Grant Miller was an excellent guide. I had some minor I intrepidation as I had never e-biked before. Grant was a good teacher and I found I loved e-biking and will definitely do it again. This is a gorgeous route be the coast phenomenal!!!!
We had an amazing tour along the coast at Half Moon Bay. Beautiful day with beautiful sights. Our tour guide Rob was wonderful and Tony was great to work with in making all the arrangements.
Upon arrival, you can park on the street for more than 2 hours, even if the sign says 2-hour limit. Great experience! Robert (if I remember his name correctly), the guide, was energetic and knowledgeable. We visited some pretty cool spots. highly recommended!
Excellent ride, fantastic tour guide pointed out everything we needed to know. We had an awesome time and learned a lot about the Half Moon Bay community. Highly recommend!
Rob was a great guide - he provided lots of interesting local lore and the ride was absolutely stunning. We had a great time. Highly recommend this ride.
Grant was a wonderful guide! We tartly enjoyed our time on the Coastal Trail. The Ebikes are wonderful! We learned a lot about the history of Half Moon Bay, too.
We had a great time and got to see such beautiful views on our tour. It’s a great way to see the area. Our guide was knowledgeable and friendly. Would highly recommend!
Really great way to see entire HMB town and shore in one morning! Bikes are super easy to ride and my daughter who is short rode on the back of mine and laughed the whole time
Fantastic experience. Better than expected. Great activity if you’re visiting Half Moon Bay looking for something to do. E bikes were very easy to ride. I want to buy one now. Our Guide Grant did a great job.
I completed my tour with Grant, he was excellent and ready to answer all our questions. It was enjoyable and informative, the views were nice, and the bikes were also fully functional.
Grant was an amazing tour guide and the views were amazing! I really enjoyed how he gave us time to really sit down and explore and learn about Half Moon Bay and the various historical landmarks! The bikes are really easy to use and the wheels are really wide so it helps with balance. Highly recommend for people to sign up!
Grant was our tour guide. He was very knowledgeable about Half Moon Bay, explaining the history of different landmarks on the tour. The tour also included part of the California Coastal Trail with great views of the ocean and coastline. Grant was great at explaining how to use the controls on the e-bike for a first timer. It was a really fun experience! I highly recommend if you’re looking for a fun group activity!
Grant led our Rising Sun Alumni group on the untime e-bike adventure! He truly made our day so special and always made us feel safe and secure. From learning about the history of HMB to taking in the sights along the coastal trail, it was all a fantastic experience. Thank you so much Grant!
My Husband and I came to visit and had a great time on the e-bikes. We learned about the history of Half Moon Bay. The views were amazing and the weather was perfect.
It was super fun and we enjoyed the fun facts along the way. It's so hard to beat the gorgeous views along the trail. One of our tour guides even brought binoculars for us to use at our final stop and we were able to get a close-up view of all the animal activity on the water!
It’s a super easy ride on the e bike. There are restrooms you can stop at along the way. The tour guide we had (Arthur) was very friendly and knowledgeable. There wasn’t a whole lot of history info but it was a beautiful ride.
Great experience and great tour guide! We really enjoyed the views and the history behind Half Moon bay, Thank you! Would definitely do this again.
It was a great tour & Arthur was a great guide! Biking next to the coast was awesome! The E-Bikes were user user friendly & very handy for this your!
What a great time with Tony. First and Foremost the fat tire E bikes he use are the best e-bikes we have ever been on, and we’ve been on E bikes all over the world. Perfect condition brand new. He gave us a great intro to use them and then we were off. Gave us a beautiful history of half Moon Bay the buildings, the restaurants the highlights. And then we were off to the ocean on a beautiful Pacific coast path. Cannot recommend this tour enough.
Amazing and fun trip that is worth going on. The bikes were the best on the market and so easy to handle. On the trip, we stopped frequently to discuss what we were seeing. We had the best guide and the best weather. Rob knew all about the area and it's history. Plus ideas of great places to shop and eat. Definitely go on this tour with Rob!
The ride was both educational & entertaining. The e-bikes were excellent quality and fun to ride. We will do this again.
We truly enjoyed the electric bike tour. The scenery was amazing. The guide was nice and knowledgeable. And the electric bikes were fun to ride.
We toured a little in town and mostly the coast trail/beach headlands. The waves, open sand expanses and great weather all played into a memorable tour. Our guide was very thorough and clear about what to do and how to enjoy the ebike. If I did it over, we would have visited a few more historical spots to break up the biking time.
Tony was a great tour guide! He led us through the quaint town in Half Moon Bay, down trails along the coast, and back into town for lunch at an outdoor venue with a live blues band. It was my first time on an eBike too, and Tony did a great job of explaining the bike’s functions & getting me riding in no time. Thanks Tony!
Tony was amazing! I can't recommend this bike tour enough. Our guide (Tony) new alot about the area and took us on an amazing tour of half moon bay. If your looking for a fun thing to do with family or friends in the half moon bay area, this is it.
The bike tour was perfect. I have two kids, three and five, and we use his new orange bike that has a backseat on it. Both kids were able to safely sit on there and everybody had a blast. Highly recommend people try this.
