I really loved the tour! George, the owner, of the house is very knowledgeable and obviously loves his beautiful house and the neighborhood. He told us so many stories about his family, the history of the house, it's interior, the original items. I am so happy we got this opportunity to see this beautiful place from the inside. I recommend this tour to everybody who is curious about painted ladies.

George is the best. It was such a cool experience. You will LOVE the house and George. Such an incredible tour and very sweet. The house is magical.
Just looking outside is not enough. Going through the house is enlightening and impressive. I’ve been here so many times times and it was my first to see the inside. I recommend it to everyone. It will bring you back to the glory days of those days. George is full of enthusiasm
George is the best! Great tour don’t miss this opportunity.
George is fantastic! He shares so much history about the Painted Ladies, the Blue Painted Lady, the neighborhood, the city, and his and his family's own history with the city and the house. He is a great story teller and by the end you feel like you may actually be friends with him! My 12 year old and I thoroughly enjoyed the tour and learned so much! Be aware for the younger friends: it's a solid stretch of time being quiet, still, and needing to be bodily aware and careful of fragile surroundings.
Great host! Very informative and interesting. Great opportunity to go inside one of the painted ladies.
The owner of the house is very friendly and full of fun stories about the house itself and his experiences being an owner of it. I definitely recommend this tour, especially if you love Victorian homes.
This is an excellent tour and the host, George, is THE BEST! You will learn a lot about the history of the area, and these iconic homes, and you'll also make a new friend.
The owner is FABULOUS! He has a great way of sharing history and is excellent at connecting with his guests and telling the best stories. I love the details of the house and how well preserved the home is. My 14 year old daughter also loved the experience. George left a lasting impression on her (on both of us, but at 14, she was really impacted). She observed how kind and generous he is and what an amazing life he has that is enriched by a variety of people in all areas of life. It is inspirational to see how kindness really does come back in the most pleasant and unexpected ways. Thank you, George, for your incredible hospitality. My only regret is that I did not bring my whole family. We will begin planning our next SF trip and this will be on the top of our list!
This tour is educational and entertaining. It is much more than just a chance to see inside a historic and iconic home, it’s a bit of a history lesson of the area, the city, and of course the house. It’s entertaining because the host and homeowner, George, is a delight. He is engaging and welcoming, and has some amazing family stories. He was very friendly and gracious in sharing his home. I highly recommend booking this tour.
This was such a great tour! George is passionate, knowledgeable, and incredibly generous with his home. The house is beautifully cared for with many original features. It’s such a treat to get to see one of these famous houses up close and personal. Take the tour while you can- George is almost as much of a local treasure as the house, and humans don’t last forever, sooo…. 😬
This is a must see if you love architecture, history and storytelling! George has such a gift to keep his listeners engaged!
George is awesome! The house is full of history and really well preserved. It’s beautiful, and many of the rooms are still original to the house construction. More than that, really, the tour blew us away. George is so passionate and has so many stories, and runs a really well organized tour. We learned so much about the history of the houses and the neighborhood, and have been recommending this to everyone.
This tour is unparalleled and WE’VE BEEN to a LOT of tours everywhere. George is penultimate tour host and guide. It’s just not your ordinary tour!! His stories spice everything up
Fascinating San Francisco history, a beautiful house, very insightful, very worth the cost. Highly recommended!
Wonderful your into the past. The owner is very proud of his home and rightly so. So much love has been put into the preservation of the home and along with seeing the home, you learn much of the history of that area of SF and of his family. A beautiful time capsule.
Visited the Blue Painted Lady in Sanfrancisco Our host George has such a wonderful home and hearing all the stories about the history was amazing I’m going back again to see it We had a wonderful time
George did an amazing job of telling the history of his beautiful home, neighborhood, and of the city. It’s very apparent how much care and effort he has put into conserving the inside and outside of this iconic home. I would definitely recommend this tour to any visitor or native of San Francisco.
You come for the house tour and you fall in love with George. Incredibly gracious, open, and down to earth, this tour of George’s home is inspiring and entertaining, and you’ll leave wishing it could’ve been longer. Come on, how often do you get an inside sneak peek of one of the most iconic buildings in the world?! And the owner is total gem on top of all of that?! We can’t thank George enough for opening his home to us, and giving us a sneak peek into his own personal story too.
Such a wonderful tour, the house and George and Elsa are very special. George’s stories are incredible and the house is beautiful. A wonderful memory
With adding personal family stories to his knowledgeable explanation of the history of the Blue Painted Lady, Greg transferred our perception of it from a mere house into a home. As San Francisco residents it’s always amazing how intertwined personal history is with the history of this city we love. An extra plus was meeting Elsa ❤️!
George was a great tour guide of his beautiful house. Lots of stories about the history of the house and also about the heirlooms he has from family members.
Great tour of one of the SFO painted ladies. Owner gives an in-depth history of his home and the families that have lived there.
Spectacular. Totally worth it. The owner has maintained and restored the home to it's original glory. Totally worth your time.
A wonderful tour with an amazing tour guide. I would highly recommend to those interested in both San Francisco history and architecture.
Absolutely loved it! The host is very welcoming and recounts many interesting stories about what it's like to live on Postcard Row. He is very patient and one never feels rushed during the tour. Before entering the house, I thought that the 90 minutes or so allotted for the tour seemed a bit long but no, we were there for closer to two hours and loved it. Please note that the host does not allow visitors to leave early but you won't want to do so, in any case. The host's golden retriever is adorable and friendly to everyone. If you don't like dogs, just let the host know and I'm sure he will accommodate. I think that this is one of the best things to do anywhere in San Francisco, whether you are a resident or a visitor.
Not only will you learn about the house and San Francisco's history, but you'll enjoy some of the owner's family stories incl. bits of the history of the countries they were coming from & US history as well. The house is beautifully restored and maintained. For all the wallpaper fans this is a must-see :-)
George not only shows you nearly every room in the house (that are filled with antique pieces left to him from family members), he brings alive the story of the last several decades of the house. His stories of all the people the house has brought to meet George’s mother (who owned the house and bequeathed it to him when she passed) and George are full of details of special moments that could only happen because of the Blue Painted Lady.
George is a knowledgeable and entertaining tour host. He shares a lot of SF history and history on the Painted Ladies. The house is maintained beautifully. The Painted Lady Tour was our favorite part of our SF trip. I highly recommend it.
This visit with George was like spending time with a long lost best friend. His stories kept us interested, amazed, and we all laughed and cried (maybe that was me!). So fun to see and hear the incredible history of the house and the city, as well as family and friend anecdotes. And after the tour, none of us wanted to leave. We lingered with George and sweet Elsa (his golden retriever) on the porch until we knew we had to let George get back to his evening. We’ll miss you until our next visit to San Francisco!
George is an awesome host and storyteller, sharing his home, his family’s history, and their treasures. And…..you get to meet his beautiful dogs!
Lovers of history will be entranced. Sincere, enthusiastic and knowledgeable guide shares his home and tales. Tiffany heirlooms, fantastic wallpapers (if you know Bradbury, you know), Sound of Music memorabilia, and more. Gorgeous golden retrievers are a bonus.
It was amazing. The house is gorgeous., George the owner was fantastic, funny, loved his stories, and the history of the house and family was just amazing.
It is very worthwhile The host has lots of stories You will learn a lot of history about the house and the hosts family
A friend and I enjoyed this tour of this very special home, we had a fantastic tour guide, who is the owner of the home. As a long time bay are residents, we learned so much history of SF, along with the history of this special home. George the owner, makes the tour an even more special experience. I recommend this tour highly, place it on your must to do list.
A great tour with the owner George. Beautiful home and fabulous history/stories. A must do whilst you’re in San Francisco.
The homeowner guiding the tour is such a sweet and passionate man! He's very attached to his family home and uses the tour money to keep up the original look of the interior. Its such a unique and personal experience!
Extremely informative and in-depth account of the houses that make up the Painted Ladies, the area and its rise, fall and rise again through the decades - and that was just the preamble on the steps of the Blue Painted Lady owned by George Horsfall! Very interesting to see inside the house, particularly as is retains most of its original Victorian features. George does a wonderful job relating the information pertaining to this particular house and his family history. Hopefully he will set up a foundation to ensure that the house, its contents and history are preserved and passed on to future visitors forever.
This home is an amazing part of San Francisco’s history! A must see! Great thanks to George for opening his home to all.
Finally was able to check this off my bucket list. So thankful for this charming tour! I had been wanting to do this for years.
We really enjoyed the tour especially George. I'm a travel agent and I will include Painted Ladies on our tour itenerary.
George was an excellent tour guide of his house. He has so much knowledge of the history of the house and his family. He welcomed us in like we were family. I highly recommend this tour. 💯
George is an absolute delight! And his tour is such an iconic San Francisco experience that cannot be missed. Learn about his family’s history going way back to the Gold Rush and all the iconic moments his house has been a part of. So so so glad we signed up for this!
We had a great time and George and his dogs were lovely. Would definitely recommend to anyone who likes history or dogs.
Great, very personal story of owner, very entertaining. Thank you. Highly recommended and would do it again.
An amazing tour, very interesting! I absolutely loved seeing the interior of this historic home, & our guide was wonderful.
The tour was fantastic and so interesting. George, our tour guide was so great. We so enjoyed his stories of his family history in this home.
This was an absolutely wonderful experience! George is both the owner and tour guide with so much knowledge, history and compelling stories to share. His rendition of Julie Andrews in the hills are alive with the sound of music brought me much joy!
Such a unique perspective and opportunity to see a piece of history. Hearing the stories from George about how being an owner of one of the Painted Ladies has brought him unexpected adventures was the best part. He needs to write his own book!
Had a wonderful tour with George! He shared his passion and memories of living in & owning the Blue Painted lady! His love of keeping the past decor viable in today’s world was evident. Worth every penny.
