Beginner Surfing In San Francisco At Pacifica Beach

One of the most exciting things I have ever did!

My son wanted to try surfing. He loved the instructor, Jeff, who was very patient and thorough and took time to help individual students. He was also funny! They provided the board and a wetsuit that fit well. If we lived in the area my son would be back!

This was a great experiment. I learned a lot about the ocean and surf etiquette.

Unfortunately, my class I have booked a time for June 20 at 2.15 pm is not running and they have emailed me this morning just four days before my vacation after I booked my hotel and after I made all my plans. This is so ridiculous and not professional, they just asked me to join earlier time 9 AM or 10:15 AM, if I was able to join that class earlier, I could book it earlier, but I was not, and they were showing that schedule time when Iwas booking and I booked this class in advance, and I made all my plans for this time of schedule. I am not suggesting here. I also even tried to call them, they do not answering + for email channel they did not share any contact information for any call to give any explanation and they are not providing in a solution with that.

Gary our instructor is amazing and super detailed in his coaching. He was methodical and after my first ever lesson I was able to ride the whitewaters wave multiple times! He provided all gear so all I needed to worry about was show up on time.

I enjoyed my first lesson so so much! My instructor David was amazing! Then Al came in later to help coaching and they were both top notch teachers! Their energy was so amazing and they were super patient and supportive! There were two of us (students) and we both enjoyed the class so much! The day was perfect, not too many people, the waves were perfect for me to start with, and I just loved everything! Before coming I was scared I was not going to enjoy it, but David and Al made it enjoyable. Will definitely be coming back for my second lesson and even private lessons to get better at surfing :)

Really great experience. Friendly and fun guide, well maintained equipment, such a good time! Highly recommend if you want to learn surfing, I brought a friend and we had a blast.

I had an amazing experience, thanks to the incredible team of instructors—Gary, David, and Al. Gary was outstanding in teaching about the nature of the ocean. His explanations on how to read waves were clear, insightful, and easy to apply. He’s an all-around great instructor who really helps you feel connected to the water. David helped me understand how to relax my body, which made a huge difference in my confidence and overall experience. His calm, supportive teaching style really stood out. Al was fantastic at reinforcing safety throughout the entire session. He created an environment where I felt secure and well-guided at all times. Overall, the combination of knowledge, support, and safety these three provided made the experience truly exceptional. Highly recommend!

I had the BEST time surfing at pacifica withe guidance and expertise of Adventure out. I had a small bit of previous surfing experience and it was important to me to learn about the water and currents i'd be dealing with. Alice was fantastic with explaining surfing concepts and also tailoring the lesson with what I had previously learned even though the rest of class were doing something different. I was the happiest girl leaving and knowing I managed to surf in some California Water. Thanks a million!

My son wanted to take surf lessons for his 16th birthday so I signed him up for the two-day beginner surf lessons in Pacifica, and he had a fantastic experience for his first time surfing, and his first time really out in the ocean! Surfer Jeff, Surfer Alan, and Surfer David were amazing and made his first surfing experience so much fun that he wants to come back and do it again! They were friendly, patient, kind, and made sure that everyone in the group received individual assistance. This definitely ignited my son's passion to continue his surfing journey! Thank you so much!

Alan was a great instructor. He taught us not only how to handle the board, but also key safety basics and proper surfing etiquette. In the water he gave hands-on help, literally holding our boards so we could catch some proper rides alongside the average attempts. Not that this is the goal, but every single one of us stood up by the end of the class. 😁 He was on time and wrapped up on time, kept the briefing tight so we spent as much time as possible learning and practicing, and made sure everyone had all the information they needed. As a lifeguard, he made us feel safe throughout, and his teaching experience really showed. He even checked for bee allergies and took precautions when he spotted bees on the beach. Couldn't have asked for a better introduction to surfing—highly recommend Alan!

Amazing experience! I signed up for a 2 day surf course withy 2 kids and we all really enjoyed it. Our 2 instructors were very knowledgeable, really helped everyone 1 on 1 as well and made sure all ages had real good fun. Thank you, ai can only highly recommend!!!

Jeff was a super coach! thx I will continue with surfing (in Sri Lanka in August ;-) ) This will become my second favorite sport besides rock climbing.

I was a little nervous and anxious about surfing again. But our instructor David was awesome and so was the entire group of beginner surfers! I would definitely do this again and plan to do it in the near future.

Amazing experience to take with friends and family. The instructor was very competent, nice and helped and followed you in everything. I went with my friends, it was just the three of us. They gave us all the equipment. At the beginning he explained to us the basic things on the beach, how to hold the table, the do's and don'ts for our safety. Then we went into the water and began to put into practice what he had explained to us. It was so fun, I will definitely continue with the lessons!

Honestly had a a blast! Flew in from Canada for a wedding and made sure to book a surf lesson at Pacifica beach. Al was amazing. Super chill, very friendly, professional and safe! He thought us how to fail safely! Which honestly, I’m going to use forever! Wish we had more time in the water but all in all, would recommend 100%. Been surfing lots of times but I learnt lots of new things that my gf and I will take with with us everywhere we surf around the world! Cheers !

It was a very good experience for a beginner’s first weekend. Alan manages Adventure Out Surfing Clinic and is very helpful.

No prior surf experience before, yet I felt so comfortable during this experience. Would recommend to anyone curious to try something new. Fantastic instructors!!

The trip was fantastic. We were lucky with very good weather, not too hot not too cold. The instruction was very friendly and informative and covered a lot of safety as well as technique! I would HIGHLY recommend this to anyone thinking about trying out surfing. I plan to come back for a girls weekend.

The instructors always make the difference. David was great, keep us safe and standing on the surf board. What more can a beginner ask for?

Alice was fantastic! She sequentially explained all steps of surfing in a logical order, showing us on dryland, then water. I really appreciated the pace of the lesson and that it had built in breaks with the out of water portions. Also, Alice was able to give each of the 4 students in my class individual attention throughout the lesson which allowed us to reach our goals. I had a work trip to San Francisco and in my free day I decided to take a surf lesson in the area. This beginner lesson is perfect for those who want an initial intro to surfing! Alan and Stone were extremely knowledgeable. What I appreciate the most is Alan giving us all the safety rules to be a good surfer, teach us how to be respectful of other surfers as well. He really wants to set you up for success even of this is the only class you’ll ever take!

Everything I was hoping for in the experience. Gained so much valuable information at the beginning that I felt was very helpful. I enjoyed the group setting, and they made it very comfortable and fun. Definitely would recommend to anyone just starting out.

The coaching was really fantastic and I had a lot of fun. I also felt safe throughout the whole lesson, Gary did a great job.

Great instructors and equipment. The process and context was explained at length using sand maps almost like a Nat Geo documentary.

Lovely guys, great beach and solid gear. Loved it and the group was awesome too. You might need to hunt around the car park to find them at the same end as Taco Bell

I went out with Amy at 9am on Sunday. I'm have surfed for a year but am still very much a beginner. She was SO knowledgable and made the class very welcoming and engaging. She gave us so many tips and trips for safe paddle outs and it left us feeling equipped to surf on our own the next couple days! I'll def be going back for a round 2.

I took the 2-pack of beginner lessons. The instructors were great about teaching you how to surf and pop up and the ways of the water and surf culture to empower you and share the knowledge so you could come back on your own safely. They also encouraged us to stay in touch and were happy to stay connected so we could always ask questions. It was great all the gear was provided and we just had to show up. Got up a bunch with their help and feel confident going back on my own with some buddies I met taking the course.

Al was awesome! A very thorough and genuinely interested instructor. This was my first surfing experience and it was a lot of fun and I learned a lot!

My surfing instructor Gary was great and gave amazing tips to help with technique. Surfing is quite a work-out. I recommend it this class to anyone who wants to try out surfing and do it the right way. Pacifica was a great place to catch some amazing waves. The suits and boards were also amazing quality.

Our kids (13) had a couple of group surf lessons and a private session, all with Al. He was a brilliant instructor, taught them so much about the sea, the tide and safety as well as technical skills. He also loaned me a boogie board for my youngest, super kind. They loved it, what a great opportunity to surf the Pacific waves - lucky kids! Thank you Al and Adventure Out.

The instructors were amazing and helpful! They truly wanted to see you learn and thrive. As soon as the lesson started it was the most stress free 3 hrs

I took a two days course to learn surfing in Pacifica with Adventure Out. All three instructors were amazing, Amy, Rus, and James - lots of explanations, helpful tips and hints right on spot, was so much fun with the guys! Already on the first day I managed to surf and enjoy the waves, wow what a great feeling, such a beautiful experience to try surfing and connect to the ocean. Highly recommend to anyone. Best weekend since I moved to SF!

I did the two day lesson. Had a great time w/ Al and Gary. The sessions were very informative, I had a LOT of fun, got some great advice vis-a-vis safety (saved my skin several times in the water), and it gave me a good handle on next steps to pursue to continue my surfing journey. The weather was great on Saturday, less so on Sunday. It was valuable to find out how much prevailing conditions can affect your surfing experience! Would highly recommend.

Having an instructor be by my side and encourage me helped the surfing process a lot. I would have been much more hesitant learning without an expert.

I loved the classes. The instructors went by each of us trying to help us and let us know our mistakes. I think I am in love with the sport now. Thank you you guys were awesome.
