It is at least a two hour experience, so take your time and enjoy it. Dont rush through it. Be prepared for hills and stairs.
Our tour guide Amanda was fantastic she definitely knew a lot about San Francisco. I have difficulty walking and she kept checking to make sure I was okay While in San Francisco I had gone on a few other tours of different areas but this one was the most informative.
Much better than expected. I had no desire to go, and my family did. I was glad they talked me into it. It was a great learning experience and I highly recommend spending the time and money to go!
The walking tour and Alcatraz trip was fab. Our guide Jamie was absolutely brilliant and really friendly and knowledgeable. He really made the tour memorable for us all. Alcatraz is definitely something you need to see and the views from the island as spectacular!
The Alcatraz part of the tour is very cool! There is a logos bit of walking on the tour but a good way to learn about part of SF.
Was good to learn more about North Beach and some of the history of San Francisco. Getting the ferry to and from Alcatraz was also really easy.

This was a great trip. The walk through the City was great. Amanda had great stories about the history of San Francisco. It was a great way to learn about what the city was in the past and how it got to be what it is today. Alcatraz was awesome. Easy to get there and back. I enjoyed the audio tour. Being self-paced let me take my time through the Prison. I really enjoyed seeing and hearing the history with the Prison.
Our walking tour prior to the Alcatraz tour was great. Amanda was an amazing guide. Super friendly and very knowledgeable about the Italian heritage of North Beach. Just so everyone’s knows, the walking tour is in English only. The Alcatraz tour inside the cellblock is the only part of this tour that offers different languages. I feel people need to understand this as there was some issues with people that booked this tour that did not know English. Know what you’re signing up for before you book.

Fresh air …a passionate and knowledgeable tour guide AND a ticket to Alcatraz? Truly exceptional . I didn’t have a lot of free time in San Fran and wanted to maximize it. I was hoping to learn some history too / not just sightsee. This trip accomplished both. Amanda did a fantastic job ! I highly recommend. Then she walked me to the place to get the ferry to Alcatraz. A fabulous well spent morning !
The tour was really interesting and the fact that the group was small made it even better. Our tour guide Amanda was helpful and happy to answer any questions. If you want to get to know San Francisco more (without hurting knees) you should go for it.

Alcatraz is really interesting. It's a lot of walking, lots of up and down, but it's worth it. I almost didn't go to the 'industrial' area, but the displays inside were great. They don't have food there, I got some on the ferry. The walking tour of Fisherman's Wharf was fun. There's so much to see, and the history was fascinating.

Our guide Jamie was excellent. Very knowledgeable, friendly and interesting to be with. The tour was on our first morning in SF and really helped to set the scene for our stay. Alcatraz was fascinating, as was the bay cruise. The whole thing turned out to be a full day. Well worth doing this tour. Recommended.
Charlene our tour guide was very knowledgeable and took us on a fabulous walking tour before our trip to Alcatraz. Very interesting to hear some history of the wharf and some family owned businesses. Had been to San Francisco twice before but not to Alcatraz. Glad we put it on the list this time. Probably only need about 70-90 mins on the island. Cruise was worth the addition to as it was a beautiful clear day.

My husband and I purchased this excursion. Our guide was Amanda; she has lavender colored hair. Amanda’s tour of Fisherman’s Wharf was very interesting. This is where the fun ends. She told my husband and me there was an issue with our tickets but assured us she would help us at the pier. She told us she would wait until we got our tickets. She disappeared while we were in line. The ticket booth could not verify our booking number or find our tickets. We sent an immediate chat to FirstExperience requesting a refund. We bought two new tickets and boarded the ferry to Alcatraz. My husband received an email 1.5 hours later, WHILE WE WERE TOURING ALCATRAZ, stating Experience First had provided us new tickets. As a result they were refusing to reimburse or refund. I called the following day and asked for a refund. First they said they had to contact Amanda to verify our story and would call back. When they did call back, they said they were unable to reach Amanda but that they had sent new tickets to us. I explained we bought new tickets. They said they would have to verify we did not use the newly issued tickets, which we did not use. I requested a refund, but the representative Nina said she was not authorized to provide a refund. I informed her that since she was not authorized to send a refund, I was authorized to write this review. DO NOT USE EXPERIENCE FIRST. THEY DID NOT PROVIDE OUR TICKETS IN A TIMELY MANNER, THE GUIDE AMANDA LEFT WITHOUT HELPING US, AND THEY REFUSED TO PROVIDE A REFUND.
Thoroughly enjoyed the tour. Maggie was extremely knowledgeable and it was conducted at a nice pace. She made sure she knew we had all the information we needed before dropping us at the Alcatraz tour.
