Itinerary
Ride from your hotels downtown or FIsherman's Wharf to the Northern Side of the Golden Gate Bridge
Go through the city and listen to the narrated tour. From Union Square to the Wharf to the Bridge. On your way, you will pass by The Palace of Fine Arts which was built for Panama-Pacific International Exposition held in San Francisco in 1915 to celebrate the completion of the Panama Canal, but it was widely seen in the city as an opportunity to showcase its recovery from the 1906 earthquake.
Drive through the oldest part of the city, the Presidio. See the new Presidio Highway, the Tunnel Top Gardens, and the Crissy Field, Air Force base during WWII.
Cross the most famous Bridge on Earth and enjoy stunning views of the Pacific, the Marin Headlands on your left, and the SF Bay on your right. It was opened in 1937 and is painted orange-red to be more visible in the fog. Make a short stop at the Vista Point on the Northern side and take pictures of the Bridge, the bay, Fort Baker, and downtown SF. See The Lone Sailor, a bronze sculpture, tribute to all who have served or are currently serving in the Navy, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, and the Merchant Marine.
Ride from the Golde Gate Bridge to the Muir Woods. See the stunning views of Richardson Bay, Sausalito, Tiburon, Strawberry Point, and Mount Tamalpais. Listen to the history of Marin County, and Muir Woods.
You will spend one hour and twenty minutes in the Muir Woods, US National Monument. Just 12 miles North of the city, see the tallest trees in the world, the Coastal Sequoias. Millions of years ago, sequoia trees grew throughout North America. Today, the Sequoias can be found only along the coast of California and Oregon. By the beginning of the 20th century, most of them were destroyed by fires and humans. One valley named Redwood Canyon remained uncut, mainly due to its relative inaccessibility. You will see majestic trees, you may meet deer, turkeys, chipmunks, and squirrels. You will enjoy the forest air and the stunning beauty of the tallest living objects on Earth.
After the Muir Woods, we will take you to Sausalito, one of the most beautiful little towns in America. Stunning views of the Bay, Islands, Bridges, yachts, great seafood restaurants, art galleries and souvenir shops make Sausalito a gem!
Driving you back from Sausalito to Pier 33, Alcatraz landing
After Sausalito, we will bring you to Alcatraz Landing on Pier 33 in the city. Here you will catch a boat to Alcatraz, a small Island in San Francisco Bay where the Federal Penitentiary was located from 1934 until 1963. It held the most notorious prisoners in American history, including gangsters, notorious bank robbers, and murderers... You can spend there as much time as you want, but do not miss the last boat!

It was an excellent experience. The tour guide was awesome. The tour guide was very informed about the San Francisco area, extremely friendly and helpful. The ride was smooth, It was a great experience altogether
Wonderful trip! Our driver, Peter, got us going a little earlier than planned to beat the crowds at Muir Woods, which was well worth getting up for. Would have liked a little more time in Sausalito, but if you are doing Alcatraz in the afternoon you really can’t stay longer than an hour. Alcatraz was very interesting. Overall a great tour. Highly recommend!
The van was horrible, poor suspension feeling every bump in the road, ecessive, clunking noise coming from driveshaft upon excelleration, & difficulity hearing the driver in the back without a microphone, missing out on some of the facts. Brought to Sausalito way too early for a 1 hour lunch & most restaurants didn't open for 45 minutes, poor planning. l
Great experience. Friendly, knowledgeable guide
We had a great time on this tour the group was small so it was manageable our tour guide Mike was great. Very friendly and extremely knowledgeable he made it worth it. My only complaint was that we were with friends and we didn’t realize since we were at different hotels we would not be on the same bus. We were able to meet up at the stops but other than that it was a great time
This experience offers a lot in one day. You can get pretty much all of the highlights and a few hidden gems.
We did the Muir Woods and Sausalito tour yesterday, and it ended up being one of the highlights of our trip. The value was fantastic. We got to see parts of the area we probably never would have found on our own, enjoyed the incredible scenery, and learned a lot along the way. A big shoutout to Jerry, who was an awesome guide. He was knowledgeable, personable, and did a great job keeping the day fun and engaging without ever making it feel rushed. I also want to give credit to the company itself. From the moment we booked, they were incredibly responsive. Anytime I called, emailed, or had a question, someone got back to me quickly and helped with whatever I needed. That level of customer service seems harder and harder to find these days, and it definitely didn’t go unnoticed. If you’re visiting San Francisco and want a great way to experience Muir Woods and Sausalito, I’d absolutely recommend this tour. We had a great time and would do it again.
The guide was very knowledgeable of San Francisco History and Muir woods. Timing was perfect and we really appreciated the pick up and drop off.
Great trip and very informative
Alcatraz is so interesting. Muir Woods was mystical! Sausalito was beautiful. Michael was a very informative guide.
Good way to see several sites on one tour. It does take you across the Golden Gate Bridge. Tour was overall well organized. The only concern was the fact that if if you do the Alcatraz add-on instead of dropping you off at the port the guy drops you off at the original pick up site and you have to walk several blocks to do the Alcatraz tour. Very short time to try and eat in Sausalito.
Peter was outstanding! Very knowledgeable and entertaining. Great tour and photo opportunities. Highly recommend!
Very enjoyable well informed guide ,shame Alcatraz was closed but woods were a wonderful experience and would do again if we come back, transport could have been bigger
Peter was amazing, knowledge was next level. If you are to go on the trip he's definitely the guy to go with. Answered all questions and was overall brilliant. Would recommend to anyone who's going. Exceptional service provided by Peter
Our tour guide, Jerrick, is very knowledgeable not only with the place but the history as well. Right away he informed us what to expect, and along the tour, constantly giving us tips to maximize it. In alcatraz, always start from the main floor so you can have the headset as guiding tiur. We started from the top since we ride on their service car, no chance to get a headset.
If doing the afternoon Alcatraz tour, you will be dropped to the Pier area about an hour and a half beforehand as the morning tour returns at approximately 12.30.
The trip was amazing. Vlad gave more information than I’d had on 2 previous tours. He played photographer for me since I traveled solo. The Muir Woods and Sausalito are a must see. The stop at Golden Gate Bridge had gorgeous views. The private pickups and drop off at hotel made trip even better. I highly recommend.
Joe was great. He was extremely knowledgeable of the Muir Wood, Sausalito area. The tour of Muir woods and Sausalito was a great complement to the Alcatraz Tour.
This trip was amazing. The Muir Woods were stunning. Joe was an excellent tour guide. Joe was very knowledgeable.
Joe was very professional, yet very personable and knowledgeable about the area. Stayed in touch through pickup and at each stop. He even dropped my wife and I off at our hotel. 5 star service!!!!
I was in a van of 14 and joe (the tour guide) took us to Muir woods & Sausalito in the morning, which were amazing. Joe was really good, he had been giving very detailed descriptions to the places along of his drive to take us there. Really recommend him to all those who come to SF. And the Muir woods national park tickets were included, I had to pay $15 usd to get in. However, I was kinda expecting a tour to Alcatraz island too becos I paid like €168 euro for the whole day. And I had to pay for my own ticket to Muir woods, no lunch or water provided with this price. Also Unfortunately, I was only given a code to scan on my Alcatraz landing and never got to see anyone else. I was all on my own. It made me feel as if the amount I paid was just for the rides to Muir woods, Sausalito & a drop of at pier 33 to go on the ferry by myself. I mean, joe was amazing, he definitely worth the compliments n the tip I gave in the end. But the tour in general was a bit too expensive. I’d just recommend those travelling in SF to go on Muir woods & Sausalito in the morning with joe. But u can purchase ur own landing ticket to Alcatraz island which saves a lot more money than €168.
All the places visited are magnificent. The issue is that we booked an 8-hour tour with a guide, and it was only 5. The time in the forest was fine, but the time in Sausalito was reduced for no reason. Alcatraz...the guide just gave me the entry ticket and left me on foot at Pier 39, telling me to walk to Pier 33 because if he went, the city would fine him. Upon arriving at the pier, I saw the Hop on Hop off parked there. TAKE THIS TOUR, IT IS CHEAPER AND TAKES YOU TO ALL THE AGREED-UPON PLACES
They offer the trip in Spanish and it's not like that, the alcatraz leave you in front and they don't tell you well what to do to collect your tickets
