I highly recommand this experience! They are extremely supportive and professional. When collecting the bike, they give you all the info on the route you should follow based on your preferred attractions to visit. They are also available to support you via phone during your ride if needed. We had an issue on the way with our bike (One wheel flat) and they gave us all the needed instructions as well as the chance to leave the bike to the nearest store (the have two locations). I would choose them Again if I'll be back! Thanks for the Amazing day

Smooth transaction and the guy was super helpful about routes and where we can park the bikes. Lock and helmet included!
Great day biking around the Bay Area! Bike is very nice, as is the owner. Everything went very well, highly recommended!

We had an incredible time with Alcatraz Bikes and Tours! The staff was friendly, helpful, and gave us great tips for exploring the city. The bikes were well-maintained, and the route they recommended offered stunning views of San Francisco. We especially loved riding across the Golden Gate Bridge! The Alcatraz tour was also a highlight, providing a fascinating glimpse into the island’s history. Highly recommend this tour for anyone looking to experience San Francisco in an active, fun, and informative way!
Very excellent and helpful service!!! The owner is fair and friendly fair. It was too late for returning at 6p.m. l turned the bike next morning and the owner was very fair. I didn't have to pay more. Thanks to Alcatraz bike and tours. Sandra from Germany
The challenge of cycling around hilly San Francisco and across the Golden Gate Bridge was made easier with the guidance of the owner and the quality of the bike. Highly recommend them if you are in need of this type of service.
Good quality bike including helmet and lock Helpful people with sound advice Great price I didn’t need anything more than this and definitely would use them again.
Excellent customer service. Great rates! Convenient rental check in and out times! Grateful for Alcatraz Bikes & Tours. They do excellent business.
Super nice and gentle guy and stressless service. WE could keep the bikes over night and return next morning.
We had an amazing experience with Alcatraz Bikes & Tours! The bike rental and Alcatraz tour combo was so much fun. Aladin's customer service was top-notch, and he gave us clear instructions on how our day would go. We got to explore SF on bikes and then took the ferry to Alcatraz. 10/10 recommend!
Hired two bikes for trip over the bridge from the store in Post Street. All worked really well, with the booking made on line the day before. Guy in the store was really helpful and gave us instructions on routes and ferries and there was a wide range of bikes to borrow. All good, thanks!
Really convenient and affordable to rent in San Francisco downtown if you are staying close to Union Square. We really had a great service with this shop not only telling us where to go but also being flexible to our request. We highly recommend tourist to rent a bike from here.
Great service and organised staff… very understanding and great provision of bike equipment would recommend to anyone visiting the city!!!
Nice way of exploring the city. Good facilities to ride a bike in town. Riding to the Golden Gate and back with the ferry is a good day program.
I recently rented an electric bike from here for the second time, and once again, it was an exceptional experience. The owner was friendly and thoughtful, providing me with a charger (although I didn't need it) and even shared his phone number for any emergencies. The bike itself were incredibly reliable, durable, and had impressive battery life. I took it from San Francisco to Sausalito and Marin Headlands, and the bike effortlessly took me there and back without needing a recharge. I highly recommend this store for their outstanding service and top-notch electric bikes.
We had a great time riding these bikes. The quality of the bikes are really good and well kept in great working condition. The owner of the shop is really nice and offered many suggestions. We rode the bikes to the golden gate bridge and took the ferry on the way back. The experience was amazing and we got to see a lot of san francisco this way. I would recommend this tour to everyone.
Friendly staff, very helpfull. Gr8 bikes. Good value for money. Had them a full day. And made the best off it. Ideal way to see San Francisco
Super friendly staff. The first staff member I met was happy to stay with me as I waited for my friend, since anybody can come along and try to steal your bike. Michael was really cordial, friendly and polite.
Crossing the Golden Gate Bridge was really awesome! Bonus seeing the little town of Sausalito along the loop way to the ferry ride back to fisherman’s wharf
I had fun with these bikes! I rented an electric bike with the fat tire ride around the city it was really beautiful. The battery lasted for a long time and I felt safe on the bike!
I had a eTicket from Groupon which the owner Alladin refused to accept. He was very rude and adamant and said he doesn't have a scanner and cannot accept the e-ticket given by goldstar via Groupon while the eTicket clearly mentioned to show it to the shop owner. He refused to help in any other way. Moreover when he got to know that I had travelled from far to his store he mentioned he will be closing the store at 1pm while the website mentions that store is open until10pm.
Person running the business is very friendly. Takes care of you and ensures all of your biking needs are met. All KHS bikes which are pretty good. I wish the timings were portrayed correctly everywhere. He closes up shop at 2 everyday and not 6PM
The gentleman at Alcatraz tours and bike rentals was very kind to us. We got stuck over the Golden Gate Bridge and didn’t make it back before closing. He waited for us and gave us both a water that we really needed. 5 stars for them.
I booked an appointment the night before rental via this site, when I arrived the place was closed and no one answered my call. After contacting the vendor, I received a refund. Update: After reading my original 1 star review, I was contacted by an employee. He informed me that there was a break-in at their location the night before my appointment. He apologized & issued two free rental vouchers.
Great service from Miguel. Bikes were good. Smaller and Better price than Blazing Saddles right across the street
Bike seat could be bigger and softer. Bike could benefit from added suspension to wheels to absorb any bumpy ride.
Great service, lovely people and bikes in good nick. Really enjoyed this! Windy day but still all good.
I booked a guided bike tour the night before. When I arrived it turned out the group had cancelled and I would be the only one for the tour. Miguel solved this very well. He offered me a full refund so I could go to another bike rental across the street or rent a bike for a day which was cheaper. He showed me on a map how to get to the Golden Gate bridge with dome information about the route, a bottle of water and one of their best bikes. Also I got the insurance for free. I had a great day by myself, crossed the bridge and went to Sausalito and returned with the bike on the ferry and drove along Embarcadero to return the bike. I would recommend Alcatraz tours. Miguel thanks for the great service.
The staff were knowledgeable and customer service was great! Had good recommendations for bike routes to take. Would recommend them.
We chose this company after reading their reviews. We booked through Groupon and got a full days rental for 2 for $31! Karl who ran the office was excellent. Friendly, helpful and informative. We had light bikes with helmets, locks and maps. They were in good condition. This was an amazing deal and I can't recommend them highly enough! Thanks for a brilliant day!
We got a Groupon pass for a bike rental. Their website said open till 8 pm. When we went to redeem this pass the guy said they are closing at 5 pm. He said the owner makes that rule. The guy there recommends using the company across the street. Blazzing Saddles. They were great and had a 24 return policy that let us go across the Golden Gate Bridge as we were past 5 pm by then.
Had a Groupon voucher for bike hire, contacted the company in advance to.say which date and the response stated this was all fine. Details suggested that the two locations to pick bikes up were open 8-8. We picked the bikes up from Post St and were informed that the place would shut at 4pm. I asked about whether we could return to the other location, but was told would be a cost implication and that location would be closing even earlier! So we then had a few hours to get around as much of San Francisco as we possibly could which did put a bit of pressure on the day unfortunately.
Bike work 100% of the time. Owner was super nice and provided information about the area and how to reach golden gate. Best prices as welk
We were passing to actually cross to go to another bike shop and this friendly guy caught us and we went in, its was $22 per bike, he gave us such a good discription of where to go for good pictures and food stops. Was epic such an amazing day. We got two bikes and hemlets for $44. Defiantly go there to get your bikes!
The groupon made this an EXCELLENT value for an all day bike rental for 4. The bikes come with locks as well. The bikes themselves have been used A LOT so they were average. The person who helped us was very friendly and gave us a map. Suggested Route: We rented the bikes, rode across the golden gate bridge to Sausalito (this route is not for the faint of heart. Some of the uphill was challenging), locked up our bikes near the Sausalito visitors center (free vs. paying near the ferry terminal), took the Muir Woods Shuttle ($3 round trip from Sausalito). Then got our bikes and walked them on to the Sausalito to San Fran Blue and Gold Ferry ($12.50 one way). They have room for about 150 bikes on the ferry. You can reserve the spot for your bike online ahead of time as well. It was nice to only have to bike 1 way.
The hotel gave us a coupon tot rent the bikes with a nice discount. The employee was very friendly and recommended a nice route with many must-sees and vistas. There are also options to return the bikes after closing hours and at another location. Perfect way to explore San Francisco!
I rent a bike and did a huuuuge loop. Embarcadero, fisherman’s wharf, Golden Gate Bridge, Marin Headlands, Sausalito, End Lands, Sutro Bath, Ocean Beach, Goldengate Park, Haight/Ashbury, Alamo Square and the Painted Ladies. Thank you to the cute French accent guy for the route :) The Bike was perfect. Thank you again I really recommend!!!!
My husband and I rented bikes from the Post street location and the customer service was excellent! It was easy to pick up the bikes, even with our Groupon. They offer different types of bikes and offer road side assistance for only $5! We highly recommend this company for your next trip to San Francisco!! :)
We stayed at Fitzgerald hotel, Just one block from the hike rental. The hotel gave us a voucher for 21$ per person instead of 32!! Great value. Bikes are quite good. But they should provide a spare repair kit just in case instead of trying to charge (rob?) for 5 to 7$ of additional insurance. We did the tour up to the bridge and Sausalito and back. 40km. Great day, with a nice weather.
We got excellent service bikes are good, very friendly staff and when we told the guy about our trip to twin peaks and the Golden Gate Bridge, he advised us to cycle to the Golden Gate Bridge lookout. Which was the best advice of the day as you can see on the photo!
I rented a bike for a day. The bike was in good shape, ran smoothly. I also got a helmet. The customer service was friendly and happy to explain everything to curious travelers :)
Buenobueno, close to USA Hostels and the people who work in here are very charm and knows the routes for biking.
Very happy with the enthusiastic customer service and timeliness of the rental at the counter, and the price and quality of the bike, which had quick and reliable shifting and smooth pedaling. Used it to ride from downtown SF to Sausalito over the Golden Gate bridge, which was a great ride. They also have a way to return the bike after hours in order to make the most of the day. I didn't get to use it this time because I turned it in during working hours but I was very glad to know I didn't have to worry about it either way.
The team is very kind, bike in excellent condition. I would definitely recommend Alcatraz Bike & Tours.
The bike is great. It has been under good maintenance. By the way, once you get the bike at the shop, try cycling around near the shop so that if you want it fine-tuned you can get it done easily. In my case, the spokes on the rear wheel were loose, so I changed the new bike.
It is the perfect plan for a sunny day. I got to the shop at 8 am on the clock, and got a great bike for just $29 with my hotel coupon discount. I felt really lucky at the Post St / Union Sq. location. Daniel was very helpful !! I actually got great ideas to go biking for a whole day. I think 10 - 12 hours was good enough for me, and you can drop off the bike at any location. Just go for it !!
It has been the best activity in SFco with my teenage son, we rented the bike at 10:45 am....... We thought it would be too long to rent it all day.... But it was the best!!! We left Union square we went to the Bay, we crossed the Golden Gate, it comes with a padlock, we were able to get off at the Exploratorium, then we tried clam cream, we crossed the Golden Gate, we returned to Girardelli.... all by bike!! Practically made the full tour of SFco my own, the VERY well-kept bikes, running 100%, give you the bike exactly your size, with padlock, the young rent VERY friendly and not complicated. Bicycle rental in Alcatraz was the best option!!
