Our major issue with this bus company was that in several area where they had”stops” there was no direction on where to go. Several stops were a distance to walk. One example was the Marina stop. You had to walk ten minutes to the marina area and there was nothing to see or do. The Ghirardelli experience was another example, blocks away. We have done other hop on hop off in major cities and have not had this issue

The night tour was a bit disappointing. We booked it thinking we would see sunset instead it was at 6:00pm we were rushed to take the bus. We appreciated the staff at one point helping get us to the bus rather than us waiting for another 20 min.
This experience can only be started from the bus depot on Jefferson street. I tried to start from a different stop and it didn’t work. The people at the start point were very helpful though. The recording for the bus is different on different days, so we got some different insights into the history of San Fran. The sunset tour was great, suggest getting there about 6pm as the line builds quickly. The recording for this is also different to the day time tours as well. We did have one problem where the buses weren’t appearing on the app so we couldn’t see when the next one was arriving. We ended up having to get a Waymo back to our hotel rather than wait what looked to be an hour. Some of the bus stops weren’t clearly identified and so it was difficult to find. We really enjoyed the information and history from the tour as well as getting to see the town. Highly recommend.
The experience was a good as it could be. Employees were friendly and helpful. The location to purchase tickets/stop number one was conveniently located near Fisherman's Wharf and restaurants. We really enjoyed the night tour. We purchased the two day tour with bonus night tour and were only in town for the two days. This is best for folks who have at least a few days to explore, sometimes traffic meant you didn't get from one area to another for about 30 minutes, especially from the Golden Gate Bridge back into the main areas.
I had a great time during this bus tour! It was my first time visiting San Francisco and this hit most of the popular places and it also saves money on transportation getting around the city. I would recommend to do the entire loop once then pick the places you’d want to get off. Out of the drivers I had, Danny who did the last tour of the “day” tour was the best. He was very helpful and informative regarding locations and what to do. Overall, super friendly and he actually would take the time to slow down in locations that the audio was mentioning so you can see the referenced places. Really enjoyed this trip!
We enjoyed all the knowledge that was shared with us while on the tour! We didn’t really know what was at each stop to get off and see so that could be better explained! Also, the Chinatown tour was not explained or tell me where to meet. The overall experience was great!!
My tour through San Francisco was wonderful. I was able to see so much more than I would have been able to had I just been on foot. I also loved the tidbits of information that I got from the recorded part of the tour.
Overcrowded, the air conditioning did not work. (And they knew that) No accommodation for hearing impaired. Recorded message largely about where movies were made, little history. On and offs were difficult due to lack of seats and uncertain times. Wasted money.
Trip Advisor advertises that this is a two day tour including the night tour on one of the days but the night tour was NOT included. This is a lie! I booked this specific tour for this specific reason and was very disappointed!
What a great way to get around and see the city. We had a two day pass and a night tour. Raphael the night driver was particularly great - it was well worth doing that tour as we got some great sunset pics from Treasure Island. Really well organised and all the staff were very friendly and helpful. Highly recommended.
We had the San Francisco 2 day big bus hop on hop off tour package with walking tour of Chinatown and USS Pampanita tour. Bianca was an awesome tour guide in Chinatown and other neighborhoods and we learned a lot of San Francisco history. The submarine tour was a self guided tour and was very interesting and cool to see the inside of the sub. We also loved driving over the Golden Gate and seeing the Bay and San Francisco views! Great experience!
It was very confusing to figure out where to catch the bus. Wasted a lot of time which we could have used sightseeing
I found this not worth the money. Do one of the other tours. The movie sightseeing tour was much better and I found out a lot more information about San Fran than I did on the open top bus. A lot of stops were not manned by staff so unless u knew where they were they could be hard to find.
On Viator it says the buses run from 8:30 am- 6 pm. We were also supposed to get an email to redeem our voucher. When we meet a guy at the pier, no email was sent and he could not find our voucher. We had to go to the store where they were able to find our voucher information and was told we can hop on any bus. We waited at one stop from 9-9:30 am and another stop from 9:45-10:30 NO BUS. The tours leave station one at 11 am everyday. And the last bus leaves at 5 pm. Info on site was wrong. However the bus tour was good and had a lot of information.
We enjoyed the bus tour of San Francisco. The stoa allow you to explore many interesting sites, that are within walking distance, from the stop. The narration was very good and told historical facts.
The old cable car ride was awesome. The bus tour allowed us to see the some of the spectacular sights of San Francisco.
We had the 2 day hop on hop off ticket with night tour and ticket for the submarine. We had no issues at all and would definitely use them again.
This was the most informative Hop-On, Hop-Off tour we have ever taken. Just loved every part of it. It covered all the spots we wanted to see.
Not a lot to see from the bus only had one nice driver that set us up with a great restaurant Ticket agent was nasty wouldn’t give us separate tickets. Just another gray line mess up
If you have a last minute emergency like I did and you have to cancel, they won't refund your money. These tours are everywhere. It's best to buy while you're there and not in advance.
You can see many nice places from the top of the bus. We used it 2 days to see China Town, Golden Gate Park, Lombard Street, Golden Gate Bridge and Pier 39. I love San Franscico.
I thought it was only going to be a hour tour but very pleased it Lasted over 2 hours went over the golden bridge very windy and chilly so bring a coat reall recommend this tour buses run every 10 minutes
We never got our tickets from this place on line. So don’t order from vistor.com. For the best g red bus tour. I spent 250.00. And never got the tickets from viator. Had to purchase them again at the big red bus place. I even called them. With no help so does order from them.
It would be nice if the buses would run until 6:00 pm. We would have liked using the buses going back to our hotel closed to Union Square.
Throuughly enjoyed our experience on the Hop-on-Hop off bus. Especially loved Patrick, our guide on the night tour! If I were to do it again, I didn't feel we needed the 2nd day because of the cable cars and.other things to do. Still well worth the money!
First class service. Friendly staff and informative commentary. We purchased the deluxe ticket which included 2 day hop on hop off 2 hr rental of bikes and a night tour. Very good value for money
We wasted at least $100 so PLEASE READ my review with full detailed info on this trip that TripAdvisor DO NOT share and do not care to rectify dispite my communication with them! So firstly....tours STOP pick up from 5.30pm on the day tickets. The waiting time for the bus as some stops are over an hour due to the que. We used our ticket Friday and had no issue apart from the early 5.30pm finish. The night ticket IS NOT a night ticket or a HOP off or ON ticket. Its ONE PICK UP AND DROP OFF FROM ONE STOP Fishersmans wharf at 6.30pm and drop off there at the end of the drive around. I was on my own in the evening and hoped I could use my night ticket to safely travel around alone in the evening to visit the sites. I was 5 mins from a Union Square pick up point and got there to discover the buses had stopped and I would have to travel 25 mins in a Uber to get to the ONE stop to board the bus from and then Uber back from that stop to get to the hotel after. So I had to miss out. They did not care. Then Day 2 we walked down to the stop ...88 people waiting ahead of us with a que around the square and we were told it was at least 1.5hrs before we would get a bus! So we had to spend $30 on an Uber to get to where we wanted to visit. Then when we tried to get the bus back the same situation! So again another Uber was needed! So we ended up paying over $150 for a 3 trip ticket that could only be used once plus the $60 UBER fare and they did not care at all.
Loved riding on the bus over golden gate. Sat up top. Was chilly but worth it! Couldn't see much due to the fog but still fun
The driver/narrator, David A. Shared many stories about San Francisco that, despite having taken the tour before, we had never heard & took us to areas we had never seen. Highly recommend David A & Hop on Hop Off deluxe tours.
Friendly driver and staff, punctual, good tour. You can buy blanket for $10 if you need it. That s all from us
Wir machten diese Fahrt schon zum 2 Mal. Diese Stadt muss man einfach gesehen haben. Speziell ist die Abendtour.
Le passage sur le pont de Golden Gate. Inoubliable. Trop de monde à union square avons du attendre le bus
