Great tour and easy to move around the city. Went with friends and saw all of the cool city attractions.

Easy to hop on and off and had some great stops! Great experience overall. Driver was informative and friendly!
The Hop On Hop Off bus tour was the best way to see the city with the short amount of time I had to spend there. I was able to get the tickets sent directly to me, this was a very easy process. I will definitely take this your again when I return to SF.
Jamal was our driver and his description all the way was phenomenal and fun. Made the trip even better
Dana, our guide, was excellent. I didn't need the app's guide. It pays to arrive 20 or 30 minutes early to get tickets and your choice of seats.
There wasn't a pick up from at least 300 on at Haight. None of the contact numbers I found on Viator will get you a person. Someone on chat tried helping me after waiting over an hour for the bus but couldn't get a hold of the local contact either. At 430 ( last bus stops at 430 per the morning driver) we got on the other local company Bus2Bus and they gave us a free ride after us telling them our dilemma. Viator person couldn't get us a refund because she was told the police had helped one of the buses or pulled over one... either way. We were stuck at Haight and missed the other stops. We were not able to get a refund, credit etc.
Made seeing all the tourist spots easy if you are short on time. However the drive through the Tenderloin left a bad impression of the City.
Best way to see all the major highlights in San Francisco with limited time. I recommend this tour to everyone.
Entertaining but also very informative. The guide gave many side anecdotes as well as telling us the history of each stop. Getting off at a stop, he also informed me of additional attractions/activities in the area.
They don’t provide 8 hour service. First bus starts at 10 am and the last bus leaves at 4.30 pm. Unless you sit in the bus, you can’t cover all the places. But that’s silly. You need to hop off at a point of your choice and again hop on within the 8 hour time. But, their service ends at 4.30. It’s an unfair business practice
It was a great experience EXCEPT Willy’s bus. He wouldn’t stop singing, saying silly things and talking way too nonsensical to understand what he was saying. We were really interested in learning about the area and the other drivers were great. We were so frustrated with Willy that we got off his bus just to catch another driver.
Your informative bus trip was not informative. It relied on the driver's ability to speak clearly and distinctly. He favored fast patter and strange sounds in his voice and, between his style of speaking and the engine and wind noise it was hard to hear anything that he said distincty enough to understand what he was trying to tell us.
The City Sightseeing Bus was poorly run, confusing and completely disorganized. Buses were supposed to run every 30min, but every stop that we got off on we had to wait 45+ minutes for a bus. I would recommend doing the tour with Big Bus Tours. They seemed more organized and I saw at least one, usually 2 of their buses pass by while waiting for one of the City Sightseeing buses.
This was a fun trip and cud go on top or on da bottom wit lots seats nice peopes 2 talk 2 , we even had poker game n bak & and won lots of money so my trip was productive
Was a great tour of the city. The buses were very organized.
The buses were old and clunky, no headsets. The staff were helpful and friendly. Obtaining our tickets was difficult and stressful. We were supposed to phone a number to get our tickets texted to us. This never happened.
This is a nice way to see the city. Some of the stops were useless but it’s nice to hop on and off as you’d like. If you’re sitting up top, just be aware that it is very windy and cold going over the Golden Gate Bridge. The lady tour guide was extremely hard to understand as the microphone was totally muffled, so you could only understand parts of what she was saying. Go to Groupon for a much better deal than purchasing direct or off the street. Definitely worth it to do.
It really showed off the highlight of San Francisco. Very good tour. Driver was safe. Couldn't hear the information a lot of the time. Take your own earbuds. We didn't see that note until we were on the bus. I would sign up again, but would take my own earbuds.
It’s one way to see and get around SF without drivings yourselves. Misleading, instructions is to get the tickets from Post S5 and no one was there. We had to walk down to Union Square not good if you have a disabled person walking with you. Few stops are far from the place that you want to see ex. Lombard St is 3 blocks away, Painted ladies are 2 blocks away. You have to specify that in your website.its not advisable for passengers with limitations. Highlight was crossing the Golden Gate Bridge.
It’s a great way to see San Francisco and the driver told awesome stories about the sites we saw. Definitely highly recommend.
Poor communication on the part of Tripadvisor. There was no notice that the tickets purchased directly from Tripadvisor needed to be exchanged directly at the vendor's business office which was not convenient as they were not at the pickup location. The person who answered the phone at the vendor was extremely brusque. The guide was wonderful (don't remember his name). For some unexplained reason, after being on the bus for a few stops, everyone had to disembark and switch to another bus (happened twice). Very inconvenient as that bus already had passengers and now you were forced to try to find a new spot. Lastly, the description said the last bus went out at 4:30 when in fact at stop #6 at 4:10 pm we were advised that was the last bus. The tour was great, but the vendor left much to be desired.
Great route - bus readily available - entertaining drivers - helpful staff - highly recommend - 10 stars!
Welcome staff was wonderful. Your guide Jamal was the best! Entertaining, knowledgeable and personable!
Fabulous and interesting facts given as you travel round. Only issue was no signage at pick up points where there was no staff, I.e. at Divisadero
Easy booking, friendly driver service and punctual schedule. The Viator App really helps to identify the bus line at the time you need to redeem your tickets.
The bus was a great way to see all the must see attractions in San Francisco, bus guides were knowledgeable and gave a running commentary the whole way around the 20 stops. Definitely worth the trip
We have used "Hop On/Hop Off" buses in a number of different cities. It is usually an excellent way to get around and to learn about the city. Alas, this one was a huge disappointment. The first bus we had was okay. We took it for a few stops as we wanted to get out and see things. There was an automated tour guide who did provide some tidbits that we could hear. The second bus was horrible! The bus was old, the sound system was terrible, and the driver spoke so fast that between his voice and the inadequate sound system we only made out about 10% of what he said. We took this bus for most of our trip hence missed out on quite a bit (which again is one of the main reasons we pay for the tour!) The final bus we took had a driver who skipped the Pier stops. When we said something, the rep helping people off the bus said "Oh well, it is only a 7 minute walk". That is no excuse! We were already going to walk to the Embarcadero hence this added more walking. Also, the automated narration on this bus seemed to be out of sync with the sights as we noted we had passed the sights before the narration began. We weren't sure if the driver was pressing a button too late or … If we were doing this again, we would try the other company as they seemed to have newer buses.
Avoid this tour. We waited 30 minutes to board while rude drivers fought over customers. Once on board, we discovered it is entirely pre-recorded, not a live tour. The audio is outdated, out of sync with the route, and counts single attractions multiple times to pad the stop list. Worse, the bus was packed, the windows were filthy, and the driver was reckless. Without seatbelts, the chaotic ride felt exactly like the movie Speed. Definitely not worth the money.
Fun trip well worth the money. You should do it
The bus can bring us to see most of San Francisco It’s amazing trip, will recommend to friends who visit San Francisco Especially the Mandarin audio
Ride on top of the bus but come prepared for wind /rain/ cold. Good use of time to see the whole city quickly. If you have more time, you can go back to certain areas .
Most workers dont speak English, they left us at pier 39 and we were there for 4 hours not knowing where to get the next bus because we got on one that was not in service, the man said someone would come and tell us when a other one will come and never did, we had to walk to a different location to figure it out on our own, horrible experience and didn't even get to experience any other locations due to time
There are 2 tour bus hop on hop off in San Francisco. We took both. This is the one you want. The driver is your guide. Better that the recorded sales pitch on the other one. More info and better stops.
We had a very enjoyable experience on the Hop-On Hop-Off tour in San Francisco! Our driver, Kirk, was fantastic, friendly, informative, and made the ride even more fun. It was a great way to see the city and visit all the major sights without having to worry about transportation. Definitely recommend it if you’re visiting San Francisco!
The Hop-On Hop-Off bus was honestly one of the best things we did in San Francisco! It made seeing the city so easy and fun without spending a fortune on Ubers. We got to see so much of San Francisco, hop off whenever something caught our eye, explore, and jump right back on when we were ready. Riding across the Golden Gate Bridge was definitely a highlight! 🌉 If it’s your first time in San Francisco, I 100% recommend it. Such an easy, affordable way to get around while still getting the full experience of the city. We’d absolutely do it again! 🫶🏼
Best way to see the city with limited time. It takes you to the most popular attractions in the city. This tour is a great value and must do for anyone visiting San Francisco.
You cannot get your actual ticket online. Must go to a vendor, then walk 3 blocks to pick up bus. Should be able to receive tickets by email after paying. The commentary on some of the buses could not e heard/ understood. Also, if you lose something on the bus, forget about it. We called the office 3 times, waited 2 hours in the city for a return call about our lost items , and NEVER heard back from them. Disappointing, because up until then, it was a nice experience. But they apparently cannot or will not contact their drivers.
Ticket pickup was easy and agent was very helpful with parking suggestions. Hard to hear recorded tour, would have been great to have headphones. What we could hear wasn’t very informative, just a lot of restaurant suggestions. Wasn’t thrilled that halfway through the tour we were told we had to get on another bus or wait 30 minutes for the bus we were on to leave. The other bus option was full so we had to wait…. Would maybe look at another tour operator
Wear tight fitting hats or hoodie it gets chilly going to the Golden Gate bridge. Dress in layers or be cold.
Loved the experience! Everyone was very helpful, pick up locations very clear. The only thing that I didn't love was that the tour does not provide headphones, all the explanation of the tour is through a speaker, and with the noise of the wind and the motor we couldn't hear the explanation.
We waited over 30 minutes at our first stop and an hour at our second stop. Not worth the money we spent.
Just a fun thing to do for your first day in San Francisco. You can relax, see the sites, and laugh at your driver’s jokes. Kirk, our driver, looked out for us, and made us feel welcome after each hop off, hop on. I highly recommend this tour.
Perfect route if you have limited time in San Francisco. We thoroughly enjoyed it. Golden Gate is very windy.
We booked this one specifically because all the promo materials mentioned live guides. Not true. Our narration was recorded, and most of the time there was silence. Plus, sometimes the recording repeated. We also were told we could be picked up at the North Beach stop around 4:00. We waited 45 minutes and no bus came. We were disappointed that we chose this tour for our one day in town.
The tour driver/narrator was flippant, irreverent and not funny. He kept urging passengers to be sure and tip him generously. He only stopped when and where he felt like it, leaving us about six blocks away from our requested/designated stop. He made fun of the numbered stops, saying he was “not good with numbers.” This was the least expensive bus tour — but NO BARGAIN!
Our driver Willie made the tour memorable with his live commentary on the various landmarks and unique presentation style. Definitely a good way to explore the city. We should have done this on our first day here…
Overall the tour was good. It was a little pricey and pick up times were off by 10 min so you start to worry if you're in the right pickup spot. The information they gave us on the bus was nice. I would recommend riding through the whole tour and then getting off at the stops that you liked.
We got a nice perspective on the city. The ride across the golden gate bridge was well worth the ride
Can be very windy on top deck. Try to get a bus that has recorded info as its clearer to hear. At least it was for us since we tried two different buses
I would not recommend this bus company through viator. I received a copy of my ticket along with a map of the route via text with no other information. I don’t believe this bus company has an app. I waited at stop #18 on the corner of Larkin and McCallister for an hour 10:30-11:30 waiting for a bus - no busses for this company ever showed up. However, many busses for the Big Bus passed by. I finally bought a ticket for the Big Bus and hopped on one of their many busses.
