We enjoyed our stay at The Clift. The hotel is easy to get to and being able to pull up directly outside to load and unload the car was really convenient. At check-in we were offered an upgrade to a suite for $40 per night, which we thought was very reasonable, so we took it. The suite was spacious, comfortable and had a good city view, and we were very happy with the room. The main disappointment was that the Redwood Room was closed on both nights of our stay. We had been looking forward to having a drink there, but unfortunately there was no opportunity to get a drink from the hotel bar at all during our visit. We also had $100 of hotel credit through American Express, and with the bar closed the only real opportunity we had to use this was in the café for breakfast. Other than that, we had a good stay. The hotel is well located, the room was excellent and the suite upgrade represented good value. It was just a shame that one of the hotel's main features wasn't available at all while we were there.

Really solid stay at The Clift. The service was great, everyone was friendly and helpful, and our room was clean and comfortable. The hotel definitely has some older bones, but they’ve done a really good job keeping it updated and well maintained. We had a junior suite. We booked through Amex Platinum and received an upgrade, then paid about $30 more per night for another upgrade. We were happy with the room and felt it was worth it. Nothing particularly over-the-top, just a very good, comfortable hotel experience with good service and no real complaints. I’d have no problem staying here again.
I'm still giving it five stars even if it's in the tenderloin adjacent area. The hotel is affordable, incredibly clean, beautiful rooms, lovely architecture. All staff were helpful and kind. Such easy access to ubers/waymos from front door to get to all other SF locations. The sketchy streets are a few blocks down so the main surrounding streets are fine.
It’s hard to believe this is the breakfast standard of a four-star hotel. They automatically charge an 18% service fee, yet there is virtually no service at all. After your food and drinks are prepared, you’re expected to pick everything up yourself. The prices are outrageously high, and the quality doesn’t come close to justifying them. To make matters worse, a man who appeared to be the restaurant manager kept pointing fingers and telling guests what they could and couldn’t do, which was both ridiculous and unprofessional. I strongly do not recommend this place. If you value your money and your experience, stay away—you’ll only end up paying a premium for disappointment.
I was there with my cousin from Dallas on a birthday trip and boy was this a great hotel. The rooms were very nice and the location was great. However the service was EXCEPTIONAL!!! Mike the host in the Redroom was second to none with his hospitality!! He was extremely welcoming and paid attention to detail. Also Jason was just as accommodating. These two guys made our stay wonderful. For anyone wondering yes..this is a good choice for your stay in San Francisco. We will definitely book here again!!!
