American Air lines gave me a hotel voucher for the night and a reservation for his hotel. The front desk clerk was accommodating and gave me essential toiletries since my bag was still in Chicago. After a quick check in, I went to my room. Generally speaking, the lobby was a generally generic style, maybe minimalist? Anyway, it’s free so I’m not complaining. The room was also the same style with the basic amenities with a comfortable king size bed. If I were visiting SF, I wouldn’t stay here based on my style preferences but perhaps it would be ideal for someone with these tastes. I give it a solid 3.5 stars, and would stay here again if I was delayed between flights. A+ staff.

Overall, our stay at BEI San Francisco Hotel was just okay, and honestly, the only real positive was that it was within walking distance of our event. The rooms were extremely basic and lacked any character or warmth. There were no pictures on the walls, making everything feel very plain and uninviting. The box spring sat directly on the floor, and the nightstands were unusually low. The windows were dirty, which made the view even less appealing. Another major downside was the noise. Between the constant traffic and emergency vehicles with sirens, it was difficult to enjoy a peaceful stay. On a positive note, the lobby was very clean and well-maintained. However, we were disappointed that the hotel bar closed by 7 PM on a Friday night! You would think a hotel in San Francisco would offer guests a place to unwind a little later, especially heading into the weekend. And one last thing—be prepared for an additional $50 PER DAY for parking! This was an unexpected expense that was not disclosed on the website when we booked. Definitely something guests should know ahead of time.
As a hotel advertised as a 4-Star hotel, it was very misleading. Location and staff was ok. Didn't have much interaction with the staff to speak on. I definitely felt like the staff/people in charge/owners have simply given up on a hotel that has potential. For a hotel advertised as modern, alot of things felt old and in need of an update. To keep this as short as I can, I'll only talk about what impacted my stay. The room had an old moist storage room smell. When we first arrived to our room, it felt cold, unwelcoming, and dirty. The room looks nothing like the photos on their website. Walls are incredibly thin. You can hear every conversation outside your doors, anyone leaving their room, you can hear their door slamming shut. On our last night, it was who knows what time but my husband and I was awaken by someone continously slamming their door. The toilet has this loud noise like a hand drying machine every time it flushes, so you can hear your neighbor's. The only reason I'm giving it two stars is because the bed was clean and comfortable. We wanted a room where we can see the city lights but the windows were so dirty you couldn't really see out of it. Window cleaning is a simple maintenance that can help elevate the room. The restroom roof looks like there was a leak at some point. All in all, if you're someone like me where, where you stay plays a part of your experience, this might not be the place for you.
Unfortunately, this was not the best experience, especially compared to our previous stay here. The first time we stayed, we had a much better experience overall. The staff this time was disappointing. I tried calling the front desk to request towels, but the phone in our room was not working. Since the cleaning lady was already on our floor, I approached her directly to save time. She had towels with her, but instead of simply helping, she spoke to me in a rude and unpleasant tone and told me that I needed to call the front desk—which was exactly what I had already tried to do. As I walked away, I also felt that she made a comment about me in Asian behind my back, which was very unprofessional. I eventually went downstairs to the front desk, and they told me the towels would be brought up to our room. The whole situation was a hassle and ended up wasting a lot of my time. It was also our anniversary, so we were hoping for a better view. During our previous stay, we had a nice view, so we were disappointed that this time it wasn't the same. Another issue was the communication with the front desk. Whenever we asked questions, the staff seemed too quick to assume what we were asking instead of simply listening. For example, when we went downstairs to ask about the parking situation, the employee immediately said "no" before we had even asked anything. He eventually answered our actual question, but the initial response was unnecessary. The rooms themselves were nice and clean, which was honestly the best part of our stay. However, overall, the service and customer experience were disappointing. It also felt like there were frequent attempts to upsell additional services or charges, so guests should pay close attention to what they are being offered and charged for. Given that this was our anniversary and we had a much better experience during our previous stay, we expected more this time. Unfortunately, the service did not meet those expectations.
I’ve stayed here at least 3 times for different occasions, really close to Bill Graham and walking distance if attending a show there. We also stayed here recently for the sf marathon, we were able to schedule and Lyft or uber to our drop off point. And we stayed here for nba all star weekend. We like this location because of their parking and convenience. Their elevators are sensitive so you can’t have more than 5 people in it at a time to or will go out of order. Staff is friendly, lobby is nice and sleek, one of my friends was able to work in their conference center and they had granola bars and I think fruit. The rooms are pretty comfy, the beds seem more like a full or double than queen but overall it’s a convenient stay for downtown sf for the price.
