This hotel is advertised and presented as more of a high class property than it actually is and the majority of the staff is not attentive or helpful. We are a family of 4 and were looking for a room in Tuscany that could provide us with space, the advertised room for 4 is not actually meant for 4, it was a standard room, with a king and two rollaway beds. Did they all fit, yes. Should they all have been put in there and advertised as a room for 4, absolutely not! Maybe if you have two little ones, but not two pre-teens or older. That was our first disappointment. The hotel is not staffed well, they have two bars, but only one is open at a time so the staff can cover both and the indoor bar was never really staffed, if we wanted to get a drink we had to ask the front desk to call someone. Multiple times during our stay we were waiting for service, an employee looked at us, didn't acknowledge us, went off to do or help someone else. We tip and are a polite family, so it's not like we were rude to any of the staff. I thought maybe it was a cultural difference, but after experiencing other hotels in Italy, we determined that was not the case. One day before leaving the hotel we checked the hours of the pool menu availability. We were told we could order from that menu until 7:30p, so we planned our day accordingly so that we could get food upon our return. We went to order at 6:45 and were told it was closed, since there isn't anything nearby, their restaurant wasn't open yet and the dinner menu was not as light as we were looking for, our only food option was room service. We were able to order what we wanted off the pool menu, but we had to pay and 10 euro for it. Everything is very dated, the spa wasn't really a spa or easily accessible so we weren't able to use that either, which was one of the draws to the hotel after a few busy days in Rome. I will say the food was good and the outdoor space was nice, but ultimately we were VERY disappointed and I would not recommend this hotel.

2,5🌟 Food: I had an okay stay i guess. The breakfast was good, a lot to choose from. But you need to come earlier to get items you want since they run out of a lot of things later on. The hotel resturant was okay, ordered beef slices with mushrooms, was very plain and lacked seasoning. For the price of more than €20 it was not worth it in my opinion. Accommodations: The pool was nice and had a lot of sun chairs for use. Although the other guests could have been nicer. There were no staff to tell others not to disturb the others guests, they jumped into the pool and spoke / screamed loudly. Although they were children, the hotel staff should probably make sure they don't disturb other guests this much. The pool has a bar where you can buy ice cream and drinks, a big plus! The parking spaces are too few! As a guest in a rural hotel I would assume there would be plenty of parking spaces, especially as it is stated on the website. But I had a hard time finding space and when I did it was very small since other people had parked poorly. The room was....okay, i guess. I lived on the first floor and the sound from the corridor echoed into the room! I heard whenever someone was walking in the stairs or came down the elevator and talked with indoor voices. As someone who has a hard time falling asleep, this was a big problem. The room had aircondition which was greatly appreciated, although it kind of shut off during the night and it became warm in the room. The bed was very hard and had a plastic-like mattress which was not very comfortable. Asked for two separate beds in the booking but got one big bed instead... One of the lamps bulb stopped working during the evening but it was fixed the next day when housekeeping came. Housekeeping was very nice and thorough and fast with their cleaning, a plus! Location: The location is great, the view from the pool is amazing and has a very romantic type of vibe. I recommend for those wanting to enjoy the countryside.
Stayed one night and wish we could have stayed more. The restaurant provided delicious and great meals, including a very convenient breakfast. pool and views were stunning.
We absolutely loved our stay at Hotel Borgo di Cortefreda. The views of the Tuscan countryside were stunning and the entire property had such a peaceful, relaxing atmosphere. It truly felt like the Tuscany you dream about, vineyards, rolling hills, beautiful sunsets, and a charming countryside vibe. The staff was warm and welcoming, and the restaurant and breakfast were both excellent. The hotel itself has a lot of character and charm, making it a perfect place to slow down and enjoy the area. It was also a great location for exploring nearby towns and wineries throughout Tuscany. If you’re looking for a relaxing and authentic Tuscan experience rather than a modern luxury resort, this place is absolutely worth it.
We stayed here for a getaway on our first trip to Italy! We had a wonderful time! The pool, restaurant and room was just a dream. It was quiet and felt like such a secluded location even though it’s close to town. An absolute retreat, we cannot wait to return.
