If I could give our tour and guide, Ben, more stars I would. Ben was an exceptional guide, driver and even photographer! We saw so many sites and had a wonderful time. The van was very roomy and comfortable. We especially loved Gosausee. Just tell Ben what you want to see and he’ll make it happen!

Pick up from your hotel or any other location in the city of Salzburg
We leave the city of Salzburg behind on our way to the Lake District. Your private guide will explain about the city of Salzburg and how it for many years it was a independent principality, ruled by the Catholic Church and the importance of Salt and how it influenced the growth of the city. Other points of interest will be explained on route to Hallstatt. You will enjoy our off the beaten track over the mountains where you can enjoy unspoiled scenery.
Walk down to the emerald green Lake Fuschl, capture a picture of the castle Fuschl a former hunting lodge of the Prince Archbishops, built in 1450. Enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding mountains that frame the lake.
Admire the beautiful architecture of the Red Bull headquarters and see one of the largest cast bronze sculptures in Europe.
Enjoy dramatic views above the Lake Wolfgang and the town of St. Gilgen. This is the area that was shown during the opening scene of the Sound of Music. You also have a view to the Schafberg where Maria and the children took the train up to the picnic meadow.
See the town center of St. Gilgen, including town hall, Mozart fountain and the birth place of Mozart's mother.
Optional: Take the train up to the Skywalk. When you stand on the “Skywalk”, Hallstatt lies right there at your feet. You look down on the world-famous World Heritage town, the cradle of the Hallstatt Period. Sparkling mystically, Hallstätter See nestles up against the medieval town like a fjord, flanked wonderfully by the spectacular panoramas of the Dachstein.
In Hallstatt, your private guide will point out all the hidden gems of the town, which include a beautiful photo spot of Hallstatt, Charnel House (Bone House), Hallstatt Museum, Hallstatt Waterfall "Waldbachstrub", the Sky View Platform, Hallstatt's local residence area and more. You will have 2 hours to explore Hallstatt with all its sights, as well as have lunch at one of the beautiful lake side restaurants in Hallstatt (lunch not included in price).
Marvel at the Gosausee, with the glistening Dachstein glacier as its backdrop.

This was the highlight of our time in Salzburg! I cannot stress enough how magical this part of the country is and yes, there’s a reason why people visit these lakes and Hallstatt- GO!!! And, if you can get Luciano as your guide, you’re in for a treat!! Very kind and informative plus he suggested some last minute add on experiences that allowed us to extend this enchanting day and see more sites. Truly worth every single penny!!
Carlos was a great guide very knowledgeable, friendly and kind. Customized the tour for us and made sure we had everything we needed. We made some great memories and have awesome photos.
Luciano was an amazing tour guide with so much knowledge of Salzburg, Hallstatt and the lake district.
We had the most amazing day on this tour. Our guide was Michael Toth who is very personable & has a wonderful knowledge of the area & environment. We had an early start to the day which was most beneficial as we got to have a look around Hallstatt & then on to the 5 Fingers before the crowds arrived. The vehicle we travelled in was clean & very comfortable. I cannot think Michael enough for a fantastic experience & would highly recommend Salzburg Private Tours to anyone travelling to this beautiful part of the world. Thanks Michael.
This was our first day of vacation after a long day of travel and it was great to have Lucano show us around and share the beauties of Alstatt. He did a great job beating the crowds and sharing a few surprises we never would have found our own. You know it’s a good day, when my 2 teenage daughters were impressed and enjoyed.
We did this tour with Michael Toth. The tour is a wonderful experience, and Michael was a fantastic guide. Hallstadt is truly like a fairy tale little town, the drive gives you some fantastic views. Michael did a great job as tour guide for our family, great driver, highlighting all key aspects along the way, and very good balance between time explaining some history of the city and key highlights and also giving some time to explore by yourself. We highly recommend both, the tour and Michael as a guide. Enjoy!!!
Must do. Our guide was fantastic, great information, without overload. Plus gives you time for exploring Salzburg in the afternoon.
Michael was the perfect tour guide and gave us an incredible experience. He gave us plenty of options to customize our tour and was very flexible with our timeline throughout the day. He knows so much about the area and we learned a ton about the history of each area we went through while taking the time to just take in the beauty. He gave us an amazing walking tour of Hallstatt and then flexible time to explore the town on our own. I highly recommend this tour and Michael specifically if you are lucky enough to get him!
Michael, our guide, welcomed us warmly into our first day in Salzburg. He gave an in-depth experience of Salzburg, Hallstatt, the surrounding area and local architecture, as well as interesting historical facts. He was very a great source of ideas for sightseeing, points of interest, as well as outdoor activities. He was wonderful and we felt like family!
View was amazing but the our guide/driver was quite quiet so he didn’t share that much information during the drive, and when he did he was so soft that only the one at the passenger seat could hear him. In Hallstatt he also just dropped us off for 2 hours, but I guess there was no parking so he had to deal with that.
Michael was an exceptional guide. Very humorous and also an extremely safe driver. Showed us the most beautiful parts of Salzburg and Hallstatt. He was also flexible to change the itinerary for our private group and gave us a lot of knowledge about the history of Salzburg, Hallstatt and the famous salt mines which we did and you should not miss.
I don’t even know where to start! We booked a private tour to Hallstatt with Viator. Our driver/tour guide Michael Toth was beyond fantastic! The itinerary was just perfect and he customized the stops based on our preferences. He was so knowledgeable, friendly and funny! He gave us recommendations for things to do after our tour as well that were spot on. We had a wonderful lunch in Hallstatt (an adorable town) with the perfect table right in the water thanks to Michael! If five stars Is the top rating I give this tour and Michael a 10! Worth every penny!
Our guide, Carlos, was truly fantastic with our family. He told us stories of the region, history of Austria, other travel stories, and shared the culture of the Upper Austria region with us. He also tailored our adventure through the Lakes Region for our family and the weather. He knew some secret places for us to venture that saved us time to make the most out of the trip. We plan to connect with Carlos again to adventure through the region during Christmas time!
The full-day tour to Hallstatt was fantastic. Our tour guide/driver, Carlos, was excellent. He was knowledgeable, entertaining, and engaging. Carlos went above and beyond, which made this tour very memorable. Also, prior to the tour, had very good communication with this tour company. We would highly recommend this tour, company, and our guide Carlos!
Great scenery, cool guide who briefed us the history and showed us all that we need to see. Worth all the traveling!
I highly recommend this tour especially when traveling with family and elderly. We were able to maximize the time to see and appreciate and know the importance of the places we got to passby like the Mozartblick, Lake Wolfgang, town of St. Gilgen. Thanks to our driver-guide Michael Toth, who is remarkably considerate with my 84 year old father. He made sure we would all be warm and safe on this stormy day to Hallstatt. Despite the bad weather, we were able to capture a good view of Lake Wolfgang and was able to do a good walking tour around Hallstatt.
Mischa was a fantastic tour guide, extremely knowledgeable and very engaging. We could have used another day with him! Booking our tour was simple. Communication via email was a breeze and the tour company accommodated our needs without hesitation. First time booking thru Viatour and won’t hesitate next time.
Thanks Mr. Luciano for perfect and very kind private tour to Hallstatt and Gossuser. We had really enjoyable and memorable time. See you again in Salzburg.
Very productive tour with a great guide Luciano. He was really patient and funny though the trip. We arrived the site on schedule and he was able to guide us though without getting caught into larger crowds. Although he is Italian, he gave us a great perspective from his view. We definitely saw more that we anticipated and saved lot of time compare with larger tour. Thank you Luciano and we should be seeing you in our next visit
Tour guide Carlos with Salzburg private tours gave us a wealth of information as he drove us around and swiftly moved us through some meaningful destinations in Hallstatt. I went with 6 other friends. The transport car was nice, clean and comfortable. I very much enjoyed the beautiful sights and his funny commentary and stories. I was skeptical at first but glad I went. The salt mine and town were fantastic. I would recommend this trip. Thank you!
Michael (guide) and Thomas (driver) were terrific on our private (family of 4) tour of Hallstatt & lake region. Michael provided a perfect blend of history and beautiful scenery. We were able to customize the tour to our liking and added a last minute boat ride on the lake in Hallstatt which was a highlight. We made our own lunch reservation at See Hotel Gruber Baum which was delightful. Overall one of the best days of our trip- cannot recommend them enough!
Planning things to do on our recent trip to Salzburg a side trip to Hallstatt was always on top priority. We could have easily gone down the less expensive path and booked a public coach tour, however Hallstatt is such a special place it deserved more. Our tour guide Michael was prompt with our hotel pick up and even went the extra miles in wearing traditional Austrian uniform for the occasion. The vehicle was clear and we enjoyed non stop conversation for the entire 6 hours of the journey. Michael answered every question I fired at him, and I must say they were lots of them. Its easy to see Michael loves his job and even though we never had the best of weather Michael make our trip to Hallstatt a memorable journey. If you want a personalised tour to many beautiful sites around Salzburg I would have no hesitation in recommending Salzburg Private Tours. Should you be fortunate enough to get Michael as your tour guide to Hallstatt, & not wanting to spoil your surprise but be prepared for a breathtaking “wow factor” experience.
Luciano picked us up promptly at our hotel and loaded us into a Mercedes van. He was very knowledgeable and accommodating. We had several older people who had some minor mobility issues and he worked with us. He went out of his way to make sure our tour met our needs. I certainly recommend this tour and tour director.
The half day tour was good enough for my family (with 2 kids). We had great time exploring the lakes and Hallstatt small town. Our driver Michael was really helpful and informative. We were comfortable with his approach and even hire him for our next Prague trip. Thanks Michael for such a wonderful experience!
It was a private tour for 2 person, a VW Caravel was dispatched for our use. The driver picked-us up from the designated point of pick-up timely. Peter was knowledgeable as well as a good driver. He helped us purchase tickets and showed us the way for the best views of Hallstatt, I just realized with dismay however that he skipped Schloss Fuschl which was promised on our chosen itinerary.
Alenka was just exceptional. She was so informative and shared so many quirky facts with us on Salzburg and Hallstat. She was there to pick us promptly and was very accommodating, we had to take a couple of toilet breaks along the way as we were touring with a 9 year old and a 75 year old. The weather wasn't great, it was raining mostly but she more that made up for it with her pleasant company. We were lucky enough to get her for our 1 Salzburg tour later the same evening. Panaroma Tours are professional and their guide, Alenka is great. Thank you for a pleasant day in the Salzkammergut region.
Amazing day. When i booked this tour i thought it was going to be just another tour like many others but Thomas and Carlos made it our best day in Salzburg. Already at the hotel we were very impressed buy our transport. a very clean and new Mercedes Van. Both Thomas (driver) and our guide Carlos were very friendly and informative. We learned about the history of Salzburg on the way to the lake district. the views are amazing all the way. Hallstatt was great and we had time for lunch at one of the local restaurants. on the way back we came a different route so we got to see other things. The professionalism of Carlos and Thomas driving skills made our trip unforgettable. I recommend highly recommend. It was so much fun.

The Austrian countryside is one of the most beautiful places on Earth - no question - and this tour did a great job highlighting that.

The driver picked us up right on time and the Mercedes van was new and clean. The tour takes you through winding country roads, so be prepared in case your are someone who gets a little motion sick like me, where you will stop periodically for pictures and sightseeing moments. You'll continue to make your way down to Hallstatt, where you'll have some time to walk around and explore the many shops. Be mindful of how you spend your time, however, because it is limited and you'll want to see as much as you can.

One thing I will note here is that the itinerary seemed to be a 'best case' scenario. The driver told us at the beginning of the trip that if we wanted to do the full itinerary the tour will likely take longer than the estimates 6 hours - for which he also mentioned that they would charge extra. We chose not to take him up on that mostly out of principle and a tight budget, so we were a little disappointing to hear this.

But, if you want to visit Hallstatt and see the stunning countryside in a private and comfortable environment, this is an amazing option. Would do again!

This tour has been a very amazing experience. The tour does not only include Hallstatt, but also a few attractions along the way which are very scenic. Our guide was very Friendly. I would rate the overall experience 10/10.

Los paisajes tan increíbles, los pueblecitos de cuento y a nuestro guía Luciano todo amabilidad y educación.
