Mozart And Advent/christmas Concert With Dinner At Fortress Hohensalzburg

The restaurant is decorated in a common style, nothing that reminded us that we were in a castle. The food served was average, nothing exceptional. As for the concert, we could practically only hear it, as we were at the back of the room and the musicians weren't in a prominent location, high enough for everyone to see them.

Wonderful evening, quite intimate. Food and concert were wonderful. Music during dinner would have been nice!

The meal was very nice and wait staff very friendly. The concert was amazing. Only disappointment was that we paid for VIP tickets but were issued standard tickets arrival and the staff would not honor the web ticket as it was not in their system as such.

Very nice event with dinner and concert. Dinner was tasty and portions were very adequate knot too much). Drink prices were fair. Concert and musicians were very good with well known classical pieces ex. Eine Kleine Nachtmusik. Best part was the regional Christmas music at the end. Great atmosphere in the concert room. Would recommend it.

Dinner was fine, the concert was not Christmas or advent music really - it could have been so much more upbeat for tourist who were visiting the Christmas market. Many left the concert part way through and others were on their phones scrolling. I felt we had wasted an evening in Salzburg to be honest. It wasn’t for us and I wouldn’t do it again.

What a wonderful evening. A beautiful venue overlooking the city. The dinner was very nice not hurried at all. We had a very personable and professional waiter, the food was delicious, dessert was fabulous! All followed by a beautiful Christmas concert. We would highly recommend this holiday excursion!

Concert was very good but the meal was not very special and we had to wait too long, very long! The waiter could not speak german very well

The meal was extremely disappointing. The main course was tough, gristly meat, which the 4 of us had to leave. The soup was satisfactory. The desert was also left as extremely unappealing. The Mozart concert was lovely of a very high standard and enjoyable.

Fantastic dinner and concert. Food and service was first class and concert performance unforgettable and location cannot be beaten..enjoyed every minute of this experience.

Such a wonderful experience. The meal was great and the show was terrific. I absolutely recommend this to anyone. We did the golden VIP package.

Fun memorable experience, perhaps not worth the price. Dinner was ok, and drinks/tip not included. Then the concert began. Fantastic musicians.

The service was good. Food was average at best. Overcooked short rub, pre-fab potatoes and 4 skinny stalks of asparagus With the exception of the last piece, this was NOT an advent concert or a Christmas concert as advertised. The first 6 pieces could've been played any time of the year. They also played works by composers otger than Mizart. The last piece was supposedly German folk/christmas but the Germans in attendance didn't seem to recognize them. It was also extremely hot in the venue. The musicians were sweating, people were leaving. Overall, this was supposed to be a highlight and ended up a big disappointment.

The dinner and Advent Concert event was a highlight of our time in Austria. From the transportation to and from the fortress on the funicular to the excellent dinner to the amazing concert it was a joy! We would highly recommend this event!

Stunning setting for a fabulous evening. Very well organised, tasty food with amazing views from the Fortress. The concert was wonderful with beautifully played section of Mozart and other music.

Entire experience was very professional and top notch. From the fall off the bone short rib to the wine pairings - excellent suggestions by our waiter. Concert was wonderful; repertoire was outstanding and musicians were very talented.

Restaurant was nice. A set menu with little options. Small portions but tasty food. Wine a bit on the expensive side. Good table service. Concert was excellent. Drinks at a good value there. If doing again I would just book the concert and eat elsewhere before.

Well worth the trip, wasnt sure what to expect. However the the first part, going up the lift is an awesome experience. Upon the entrance to the dinner was nice, well worth paying the extra for the VIP package.

We did both dinner and a concert and though dinner was average. Like other reviews mentioned, if you are going in a wintertime - it is too dark to see a view outside thus it really does not matter where you sit in the restaurant (we were next to the window). The concert was excellent and being inside the fortress contributed to the overall experience. If there is an option to only attend the concert, you won't miss much of the experience. The musicians were professionals and played pieces by other composers beside Mozart. The room was full and depending on your preference, you may want to pay a bit more to sit closer. Overall, the venue and concert experience are worth considering when in Salzburg.

Great food and great music. The dessert was my favorite. I recommend the VIP option. We received one free drink during the concert. Glad we did this.

Despite a bit of organizational confusion and the maitre‘d being rather unhelpful (keeping us waiting and then we were told off for being late), the food was ok and we had great time with family eating in a beautiful room. We were in December so not worth paying too much for view in the dark, but I think the VIP meal comes with beef. We had grilled chicken with rice. The concert took from 8-9.30 with a break inbetween. We thoroughly enjoyed that! Vivaldi‘s winter was a dream. One tip: be on time! 😁

Not only was the VIP menu delicious, the Mozart/Advent concert was delightful. Small venue, close to the performance, perfect length of time. Only hiccup was lack of information about “drinks are not included” with the dinner price. Highly recommend!

Dinner was pleasant. The concert musicians were very talented. Having it at the Fortress was a plus.

My brother and I had a wonderful experience! The staff were all very kind and helpful, I have food allergies and they made sure I was taken care of. The food was great, and the concert was amazing!

This dinner/concert was the highlight of my trip to Salzburg! The dinner was delicious, but really the concert was amazing. If you are a lover of classical music, this cannot be missed!! No need to splurge for the Golden VIP ticket if going in the winter months bc the sun sets early and you don't get the full benefit of having a window for dinner. But despite the additional expense, it was Totally worth it!!

Concert good. Dinner dreadful, avoid at all costs. Food poor, service worse. We waited so long for an indifferent first course that we left after it was served to have dinner at a proper restaurant. The dinner is designed for tourists who will never return.

This is the second time we’ve done this and it’s quite nice, but word to the wise: pay for the VIP. We did classic and were seated right by the kitchen door, I can’t describe how loud it was as the staff went in and out and slammed the door to the dumb waiter or whatever was inside. It wasn’t the staff’s fault, they were busy and hurried but courteous, it was just really disruptive. Also, dress light- the concert area is quite warm!

Totally delighted by the experience. We were very surprised that the food was one of the best we had in this trip. The concert was lovely. Highly recommend it.

Dinner with a breathtaking view of Salzburg and front row seating to a string ensemble playing Mozart et al. made the night unforgettable!

This really is a lovely experience from beginning to end. We bought the VIP ticket and started the evening with a journey up in the cable car to the restaurant. The food was very nice but be aware it is a set menu so might not be to everyone’s taste. I was expecting to have a choice so was lucky I liked what they provided. After 2.5 hours at dinner we went up into another part of the fortress for the Mozart concert which was fabulous .

We did the Golden VIP package. I gave this a two star because the food was good. Since its night time there was really no view so you wont benefit on one of the plus of Golden VIP. Second and the most important part was the seating in the concert. My husband and I was seated in line 2 number 18 and 19. As a Golden VIP i knew there were 3 rows assigned to this group but what I didnt realize was they will cramp the space even if you dont have a view. My husband’s view was the column. I had a partial view. It was painful. The people at out back left after the half of the concert. I dont know if its because we booked from viator and not directly from the company.

The dinner was wonderful great service. The concert was awesome. Very talented musicians. Great experience!
