Be ready for pickup at 10.00 am at your Salzburg hotel. Make yourself comfortable in your comfortable touring vehicle and experience the beautiful landscape that the famous ‘Salzkammergut’ lake region has to offer. After a short drive from Salzburg you’ll reach the castle of Fuschl. Capture a picture of the castle of Fuschl with the emerald-green Lake Fuschlsee as its backdrop, before heading on to St. Gilgen with Lake Wolfgang, the next photo stop.
The next highlight is Wolfgang Lake and the villages St. Gilgen and St. Wolfgang. Capture a picture of St. Wolfgang from a great view point before arriving at the next town, in Bad Ischl. The drive will take you through Bad Ischl, which is famous for the “Kaiser” (Emperor) Villa and the Café Zauner, and on to Bad Goisern and Hallstatt.
Having reached Hallstatt and the highlight of this full day tour, your private guide will point out the must-sees of Hallstatt to you, which include a beautiful photo spot of Hallstatt, Charnel House (Bone House), Hallstatt Museum, Hallstatt Waterfall "Waldbachstrub", Hallstatt's local residence area and more. You will have 2 1/2 hours to explore Hallstatt and all these sites on your own as well as to have lunch in one of the great lake side restaurants in Halltsatt (at your own expense).

Gaby was fantastic. Our weather wasn't the best, but she made the tour so fun and informative that the weather didn't matter. She knew where to go for views and parking, gave us a good recommendation for lunch in Halstatt and other recommendations for where to go in Halstatt. We took the boat across to Obertraun, where she met us and brought us back to Salzburg. I feel like we spent the day with a good friend, not just a tour guide. Gaby has two children (Patrick and Lena) that you may get as tour guides, and I'm sure that they would be as nice and informative as Gaby. Take this tour :-)

This tour is a family run business. Patrick was engaging in conversation, knowledgeable about the Austrian region, and very polite. Patrick arrived in a clean BMW with a clear ceiling view. Such a smooth ride that it lulled us to sleep at times. Patrick dropped us off at the Hallstatt top deck but first guided us to the church and explained the area so it was easy to navigate. We also stopped at scenic lakes to take memorable pic. If your looking for a stress free enjoyable tour this is your ticket.

Absolutely breathtaking scenery in the peace and comfort of your own vehicle. Lena was terrific! Such a delight. And very knowledgeable. There are lots of ways to get to Hallstat but this is clearly the best. And on the way to and from. we saw many beautiful sights off the beaten path which buses and trains can’t visit.
Patrick was an excellent tour guide who took us to many great sights along our route to Hallstatt. He told us about all of the beautiful spots for photos and provided very interesting historical facts about Austria and the local region. After an introduction to Hallstatt, we were able to explore and enjoy on our own for about an hour and a half before taking the ferry back to meet up with Patrick. We had a wonderful time and would recommend to all!

This was hands-down one of the most memorable experiences of our entire trip. From Salzburg, the ride was smooth, comfortable, and scenic—and best of all, we got to beat the big crowds. Our guide took us to a stunning viewpoint above Hallstatt that most tourists completely miss—no stair climbing needed. It felt like a secret, peaceful spot where we had postcard-worthy views all to ourselves. Once in town, we walked with our guide and learned things we would’ve never known just wandering alone—like where to find Roman ruins tucked under a shop floor, or which lakeside restaurant has the view for lunch (and it did not disappoint). We wrapped up with a serene ferry ride across the lake where the van met us on the other side—zero backtracking, just beautiful views. Gabby was a lovely tour guide who took us to some absolutely beautiful locations and was flexible with taking us to other directions when we decided to cut Halstatt itself a little short. Halstatt is a beautiful place but if you go on a weekend or a holiday, it can get packed. Still worth seeing but I'd recommend walking through the town and eating elsewhere.

Patrick was an amazing guide. Our family of four took the tour in October. Patrick was on time and knowledgeable in everything we asked. We needed to make a few adjustments to our day and he was totally accommodable. We had some with mobility issues in our group and Patrick made sure that we were all able to get the best experience in our day and recommend what was best. Once he knew what we were interested in he made sure to point things out. We loved every minute.

We took the tour to the Hallstatt from Salzburg. WOW! So beautiful! The tour guide was punctual and professional. He drove us to our destination and pointed out several areas on the route! It was spectacular scenery and the tour guide/driver knew the area well! He maneuvered the traffic well and took different routes to and from so we could see different scenery. We were very pleased with this group and would recommend!
This was an excellent tour! Our tour guide Patrick picked us up promptly, and drove us to several beautiful spots on the way to Hallstatt. He was very knowledgeable and made the tour interesting and enjoyable. Hallstatt was a picture perfect town. Per Patrick’s recommendations, we rented an electric boat to go out on the lake, and had lunch at the Gruner Baum Terrace restaurant. Patrick met us at the other end of town and dropped us back at our apartment. I highly recommend this tour and Patrick!
Hallstatt is absolutely stunning, and our guide - Patrick - was amazing. Professional, knowledgeable, funny, and responsive to our in-the-moment requests. He knows the area very well (he grew up there) and even our most unexpected questions led to a terrific story or example. Each stop was better than the last. Manfred is an incredible guide! He picked us up from our hotel promptly and made us feel so comfortable! On the way to Hallstatt he even stopped by sights that were off the beaten path and we were able to see different parts of the beautiful Austrian countryside. In the description of the tour it said we’d have a photo opportunity at St Gilgen, however we had already taken photos there on a separate tour. Manfred was so considerate because he didn’t want us to have a repeat experience- instead he showed us other beautiful landscapes so we can really appreciate the diverse natural beauty of Austria! Upon arrival at Hallstatt he provided directions to get to the most picturesque spots and made lunch reservations at Hotel Grüner Baum. We didn’t expect the reservations but we’re so happy that he did! The restaurant had such an amazing view of the lake and town. He really helped us maximize our time. The whole experience was just so charming- I highly recommend this tour! Manfred was so wonderful and patient with us! Thank you again, Manfred!

What a wonderful tour! Patrick is a wealth of information about the area. We stopped at a number of places to take pictures of the most gorgeous scenery on the way to Hallstatt. He made a reservation at a lovely restaurant in Hallstatt where we ordered traditional Austrian food. Patrick took care of every detail. Not sure if this was the same tour we were on, but we had Patrick as our guide and Manfred as our driver for this personal Sound of Music tour on our way to Hallstatt. It was the highlight of our trip to Austria! We decided while visiting our daughter, who was studying abroad in Vienna, to visit Salzburg as well. My husband got us this tour and we all thoroughly enjoyed it!! We have so many pictures, I can't add all of them. Patrick provided so much detail and insight into Austria for us! It was wonderful. I highly recommend!!
