What a lovely experience after a day of taking in the city of Mozart.A lovely trip up to Fortress Hohensalzburg and a beautiful nighttime view of the city. The performers were excellent ,the cello and the piano player particularly stood out. Overall a lovely experience to hear some of Mozarts beautiful music played in person. A must for any fan.

The space was beautiful and the talent was amazing, the performers were enjoying themselves which made everyone else enjoy themselves.
Incredible experience. Mozart concert at the fortress at night. It was amazing. Don't miss this! Had time to tour the grounds before the concert as the sun set. Once in a lifetime.
The concert was very good and i enjoyed it quite a lot, the musicians are very talented and clearly play well together and turn it into quite a show. The selection of music is very good truly the best of Mozart but some others like Strauss and some polkas and even Tango Pro Una la Cabeza overall a very enjoyable evening worth the money however make sure you are familiar with Mozart quite well as 45 min of Mozart is a lot and you might not know all of it even so i still think its good even if you don't recognize everything. The venue is very good incredible acoustics and they view of Salzburg at night from Hohensalzburg you can only get this way. worth it.
The castle is beautiful, the view is amazing and the concert was great. It was a wonderful experience.
What an experience! Think about it. Sitting on top of the mountain in a historical fortress listening to chamber music by Mozart in Salzburg. Come up with something better. It was top tier and fantastic. Absolutely wonderful.
This was great way to spend an evening in Salzburg! The Fortress is incredible, the Golden Hall was beautiful, and the Quartet was wonderful!!!
A bit more touristy than the concerts at Schloss Mirabell, but the ensemble (string quartet and piano) was excellent and the views from the top of the Fortress are astounding. The very, very fast funicular is an experience in itself, but it is not scary at all: try it!
This is more than musical entertainment. You get the opportunity to walk around the Fortress an hour before the concert, views are incredible. We thoroughly enjoyed the concert & the musicians were first class. Thank you for a wonderful evening.
Music was fantastic. The rest was indeed average and not worth the cost for a gold VIP price. They sell this as a dinner experience on the terrace weather permitting. As weather was perfect and indeed very warm we expected to enjoy the terrace and the views. We were seated inside a hot stuffy restaurant where the shutters had to be drawn due to sun in the face. Everyone around us were equally disappointed. When we complained and asked why we weren’t outside we were told because when sun goes down it will be cold. This was not true, it was still very warm when we left the concert at 21:30. Upon investigating we found the terrace and it was full of people being served al a carte meals. When I again questioned the manager snd said even if we’d wanted to they obviously couldn’t sit us there. She said it was the owners decision. She then came back later having spoken with the owner who said it states on the site that from September 15 it is inside. This is a lie as nothing was stated on the visitor site. Then she claimed they could serve on the terrace after sun goes down as it is dark. When we left the restaurant the terrace was lit by lights and guests were being served. It’s a complete lie designed to get you signed up as we did fir an outdoor terrace experience with magical views. Instead we received a hot stuffy environment with very average food that was bland. If you could do the concert without the food then that would be great! Buy a ticket to travel the funicular and sit at the terrace cafe instead.
I thoroughly enjoyed the concert at such a stunning venue! The musicians were incredible. The selections varied with just enough of the most popular as well as others that brought us back to the time and place where the composers lived. Don’t miss it!
Nice city view from the fortress. Buy tickets with plenty time. 4 musicians and a piano solist. 1.40 min presentation.
Beautiful experience. Easy to navigate once you find your bearings. More clarity needed on how to get up and down to the fortress (need to show ticket to the train provider and they will give ticket — must hold on to the ticket as you will need it at the end to leave as well!). The concert itself is wonderful and so engaging. The view from on top is also just breathtaking!
Great evening visiting the Fortress and listening to a wonderful performance. The piano and violin soloists were terrific.
A truly magical experience! The string quartet were amazing as was the pianist. To be sitting at the top of the fortress listening to expert musicians playing Mozart was unbelievably special. Highly recommend!
Easy to book, funicular ride was spectacular with our evening timing around sunset and views of the surroundings from the fortress were amazing. Just follow the signs for Konzert - there wasn’t anyone directing and it is a big place with various terrace restaurants so wasn’t sure exactly how to go but once I asked a staff at a terrace we found the elevator up. The musicians are fabulous and incredibly talented. An absolutely delightful performance and fun too! Just amazing evening of excellence! Definitely worth it!
Magical setting atop the Salzburg castle/ fortress with spectacular views of the city. A thoroughly enjoyable concert with talented and skilled musicians ...but not pure Mozart which I had expected and wanted.
The entertainment is wonderful. Make sure you're ready to climb some stairs. But, it's worth it. The dinner option is worth considering.
Incredible experience. Easy to take the funicular train to the Fortress. Go a bit early so you can walk around. Wear flat shoes for stairs, cobblestones and sandy pathways. The concert is at the very top of the Fortress in a gorgeous room with amazing acoustics for chamber music. The artists are so very talented. We purchased a sparkling white wine to enjoy during the concert.
This was a lovely experience. You take a tram/elevator up the mountain. I would get there at least 30-45 minutes early to explore the castle first. You have to climb a lot of stairs up to the top of the castle for the concert. I didn't see an elevator anywhere. They sell some drinks outside of the concert room. I sat in the last row and still had an amazing time. We watched the sunset behind the musicians.
Well worth it. Superior musicians, fascinating castle, good choice of pieces. Good acoustics, incredible view of the city.
Delightful mix of Mozart, Dvořák, Monti, and Strauss pieces by a talented group of 6 musicians in a stunning setting. One included a piano concerto by Mozart, adding a 7th musician to the mix. A cheeky performance in one piece by the first violinist brought some levity to the event. Includes easy and fast funicular ride up and down, a fabulous sunset, and food and beverage to purchase should you wish it. In a moment of spontaneity, we purchased tickets an hour and a half before the performance began and were very happy we had done so. Highly recommended.
I was on an organized tour with my mother and sister and none of us are particular fans/students of classical music but all enjoyed this experience! I was looking for an evening activity separate from our tour and booked this as a way to kill two birds with one stone: we had a brief exploration of the Fortress and great views of Salzburg and also got a taste of music! The music was not all Mozart but I enjoyed the variation. The musicians were very talented and I loved the experience in a scenic and historic venue. One thing to note is that the room for the concert is not super accessible as you must climb a lot of stairs to reach it and also the WC is not close by.
Great evening. Quiet spritz overlooking Salzburg followed by the concert. Well worth it.
Give yourself time to get there. Especially if you are using public transportation. The concert itself was beautiful. The sunset makes it even better.
This concert was the highlight of our visit to Salzburg. The dramatically, beautiful setting of the fortress, the excellent music, and the musicians’ genuine engagement with the audience made for a splendid experience. The funicular rail made it very easy to reach the top, surprisingly quickly. The views were incomparable. There are a few staircases involved once you reached the fortress, but nothing to intense. There appeared to be people of all ages attending.
Such a wonderful show with beautiful views, featuring the music of Mozart and Johann Strauss, especially while visiting Mozart's birthplace!
The musicians were superb and the setting was gorgeous. However, it was hot and stuffy in the room. If you are attending during summer months, I’d recommend paying up and getting front row tickets—not to be closer to the musicians, but to be closer to the windows, the only source of ventilation in the room. We were so warm, and in the very back of the room, we had to leave at intermission. Maybe they could provide hand fans or something?
Excellent show. We enjoyed the classic Mozart compositions. You get to take the funicular to the top which is a fun experience. Lovely views from the top. Has a great experience overall.
This ticket has 3 components. The fort is the only experience worth having. Views are amazing. The dinner is overpriced and not that exclusive. Concert is in a closed hall with no ventilation and heat. The songs are not as per today times. Anyone who has heard Mozart tunes knows they are good but monotonous. Not worth listening to a whole dedicated concert. If you still want to get the Dinner, don't book as part of package. Have al carte menu at panorama restaurant, much better and more options. If you want to attend a concert, don't go for mozart, attend the symphony orchestra in Vienna.
Excellent concert in a beautiful castle with tremendous views of the sunset. A magical night! The musicians were extremely talented and professional.
The concert was excellent. The view from the fortress was amazing. However, I was extremely disappointed with the seats. I had no idea tt the seats booked were 2nd class seats and and 2nd class seats were the last row. I could not upgrade to 1st class or seats in the front. Ans since the seats were on a flat ground, I could hardly see anything. I wish this was made known to me at the time of booking.
The best chamber music in the world in the city it was created. Performed in a castle/fortress at the top of that city, and you get perfection.
We loved this, particularly as there was variety in the programme that the musicians clearly enjoyed too.
An unbelievable experience. Amazingly talented musicians. The room at the top of the castle is so impressive. Definitely worth the money. A highlight of our holiday in Austria.
Excellent music and we loved the experience of enjoying music at the Fortress for our first night in Salzburg. Especially loved hearing Eine Kleine Nachtmusik and the encore which was a tango. Would have been nice if there was a free program of the music played.
This is the 3d of 3 classical concert reviews from our cycling trip that included Vienna and Salzburg. Like the small ensemble (trio) at Mozarthaus in Vienna, this one was also excellent. Very good musicians -- especially the first violinist -- and a decent selection of compositions (albeit pretty standard local fare). Thoroughly enjoyed it and tics included the tram up to the castle and back. Very cool setting. (I gave a rather negative review to the Schoenbrunn castle (Orangery) concert in Vienna for comparison.
The musical performances were stellar, and the musicians were very engaging! Taking the funicular at the fortress was also a fun way to start and end the concert :) The hall was beautiful with stunning views of the surrounding mountains in the background! The only bad part was that the room was very warm with the recent heat wave (EU June 2026) - so being a fan if the weather looks like it will be hot!
Beautiful place to experience the music of Mozart, music was played so beautifully what fantastic talented people. Highly recommend
Taking the funicular up into the fortress with amazing views of Salzburg to see such talented musicians play music in a beautiful concert hall was magical.
Could be great if they enforced their age limits (4+). You risk getting a concert with really young kids. A large extended family with multiple babies and toddlers came. I am all for family friendly events and very supportive of making it possible for children to get exposed to the arts. This is not where it should happen. A classical music concert in a warm room with an 8:30pm start. The family showed up late and then the kids were clamoring and jabbering throughout. The adults were no less quiet. I get it. I have four kids. But I would not bring them to this. The venue should have enforced their policies. So I’ll be honest, it kind of ruined it for me.
Highly recommend this experience even if you're not a huge classical music fan. The musicians were outstanding and the fortress was such a fabulous place for the concert. Everything about the experience was excellent.
This was a really cool experience! The view in itself made it worth it. The musicians were all incredibly talented and I enjoyed how intimate it was. Something to note is that once you get up via the funicular, it is all stairs. This is not handicap accessible.
Absolutely exquisite experience— moving, engaging, and with a touch of humor in the most perfect setting of the Festung Hohensalzburg— not to be missed.
We booked for the Mozart concert in the Fortress after seeing this as soon as we booked our trip to Salzburg. This was an amazing hour and a half listening to the beautiful pieces created and bought to life from extraordinary talent. The views were breathtaking A must see if you are in Salzburg , its amazing
Great performance and you get ticket to fortes for free,so get there early and just explore.Salzburg, definitely one day trip or two most
Excellent concert by wonderful musicians in an atmospheric setting. Program was very good although not all Mozart.
Chamber quartet… wonderful, talented …VERY Enjoyable performance, lead violinist was so excellent, price included funicular with magnificent views
Very nice overall experience even if you don’t love this type of music. The performers were excellent, and the atmosphere was perfect.
Very friendly crew, from the reservation until the personal goodbye at the end. Great experience to drive up to the castle, beautiful dinner location with a nice view and sun-drenched insides. Menu was ok but you don’t expect a high-quality dinner. Very friendly staff with very personal attention. The concert was nice amd of ok quality with a choice of classicals “something for everyone”. All in all a nice but not spectacular evening
