Best Of Mozart Concert And Dinner Or Vip Dinner At Fortress Hohensalzburg

Although you take the funicular to the top, be prepared to climb many steps for the concert. Other than the stairs, the dinner was excellent and the view out the window by our table was spectacular. We watched the sunset while dining on the local cuisine. After dinner we climbed the steps to the concert. We had family in our group who are not classical music fans but they were amazed at the skill of the musicians and the beauty of the music. With our VIP tickets we had reserved seats up near the front and enjoyed a glass of sparkling wine during the intermission. Our stay in Salzburg was short and this was a wonderful way to experience a part of the Hohensalzburg Fortress.

Worth the money for the experience. The food was ok but the location and the music were absolutely fabulous. Did not do the VIP packages, I don’t think that would add much to the evening. Would recommend getting there earlier than 30 minutes in order To spend time roaming the castle grounds, it is stunning.

Excellent activity. The concert was grand and the restaurant shouldn’t be missed. Our food was fantastic!

This was the perfect way to begin our Salzburg experience. Mozart music in a beautiful castle with a wonderful dinner to start. The only thing I would have changed or recommended was dinner with some background music to get us in the mood for the show. My husband especially loved the entire evening though!

Dinner was great and the concert was very delightful. We arrived early & were able to enjoy the fortress. This was a perfect ending for the day. I highly recommend this event

Great way to bundle views, attractions, culture, and evening meal into one event. The fortress was the star for me with scenic 360 views of Salzburg area before after dinner. During dinner you have excellent views but depends on where seated w more expensive ticket/dinners at windows. Food was good Concert was very entertaining I’m not classical music person but musicians were entertaining. Plan on walking several flights to get to concert hall from dinner area. Don’t recommend for kids, more a couples event.

This outing was highly recommended to us by a dear friend, and he did not steer us wrong. The setting, overlooking the city on one side and the alpine foothills on the other, was breathtaking. The musicianship of the concert was outstanding, as one might expect in a center of culture like Salzburg. We, too, highly recommended this wonderful evening out.

We loved every minute of it starting from the funicular ride to the fortress to the dinner and concert. The view from the restaurant was amazing and the food was great. The musicians were fabulous. Overall a great experience.

The package including the funicular made this a seamless experience and great value for money. The dinner was delicious with breathtaking views and the concert (venue and music) will be an all-time memorable event!

This was a unique experience for sure. We arrived at the funicular 45 minutes early and they allowed us to go up to the fortress and explore before the 6pm dinner. We did not get a window seat for dinner though. I was disappointed that you had to pay for water even, no drink oof any kind was included. The dinner was simple with modest portions. The concert was entertaining and the space one of a kind. Overall, it was worth it.

Excellent concert! Such talented musicians! The dinner was very good. Service was excellent. The funicular was easy to use. We booked the VIP experience and thought the value was good. We did expect our concert seats to be close to the front or center but it’s a small venue so they were ok. Note to beer drinkers, beer is available at dinner but not at the concert. The fortress viewing doesn’t require much extra time because the exhibits are closed late in the day. It’s more about the views which are beautiful!

We took the VIP golden tour which included dinner, the concert, pre-dinner drink, wine with dinner, and wine during the concert intermission. The dinner was delicious and the concert outstanding. It was a wonderful evening!

Wonderful experience. At first we thought it was going to be another tourist trap, but were pleasantly. Food was actually good and the view of Salzburg from the restaurant were unbelievable. Then the concert was fantastic, very lively and entertaining quartet in a wonderful setting. It was truly a very enjoyable experience.

We had a nice dinner, plenty of wine and a concert given by really talented musicians. The fortress is amazing! Note: There were stairs to navigate if that would be an issue.

This was a wonderful experience. The view from our table in the restaurant was spectacular. Beautiful sunset and a very good dining experience. Choice of dessert would have been nice! The concert experience was outstanding! The ensemble was were virtuosic. Loved the first violinist! Such sensitivity! Overall a highlight of our trip to Salzburg.

The highlight of a wonderful 2 days in Salzburg. We celebrated our wedding anniversary with the Gold package. Window seats over looking the Alps, a delicious 4 course meal with 2 x 1/2 bottles of wine and water. Then to top it off, we went up to the top of the fort (indoors) for a magnificent Mozart/ and others concert played by a fine string quartet and a special appearance of Piano virtuoso.

Conflicting and confusing directions for meeting point and funicular hours. The dinner was OK—we did not book VIP so had only one choice of entree (turkey roulade) or a vegetarian selection. Our waiter was attentive but the meal service was very slow even by European standards. We had to rush to make the concert and there were many steps. The concert and musicians were wonderful; however, the room was very hot and not all windows were open.

I was disappointed in the dinner. We arrived early and requested a different table in an empty restaurant due to its location that had a lot of service traffic.... request denied! 😔 The dinner was supposed to be on the outside terrace....no seating allowed that night to anyone with a decision given as being too cold....it was in the mid 70's with no wind, many people complained as the seating area was very warm and NO views of the sunset or views. The food was mediocre and took an hour to be served. We ended not finishing as concert was due to start and wanted to see view. Concert was nice.

The restaurant sits on a top level of the fortress so the view while dining is stunning’ We had an excellent waiter who was attentive and friendly. The food exceeded my expectations; we chose the VIP experience so the menu had more choices. Dinner included a cocktail and a bottle of wine with dinner and a glass of prosecco during the concert. The Mozart concert was as expected: very talented musicians playing beautiful music.

Fortress views are spectacular. Food was average - we did the basic meal and the dumpling in the soup was grainy and the turkey was a little dry. Not horrible, but not great. However views are still worth it. Table next to us did VIP dinner and had similar feelings where the food was just average. The talent of the musicians who played Mozart were spectacular.

The scenery and views - especially at sunset - were spectacular as was the concert. The dinner service was slow (even for Europe standards), the food was ok (we had the basic package), and we had to pay for a beverage, which I would have expected to have been included in the price. We couldn’t even get tap water. It was a unique experience and overall enjoyable, but definitely a tourist thing to do and pricey for the meal.

The dress code is relaxed but clean ( no jeans) and a buttoned down shirt for the guys . The food is delicious and you are given about 1 hour and 30 minutes to eat it in . It’s very relaxed . You will do a lot of walking up stairs . The room is fantastic. You’re in a medieval fortress at the very top and the view is spectacular. You will be indoors as well when you are seated . The quartet is fabulous and plays for almost 2 hours , with a 15 minute break when you can grab a glass of wine or champagne. It is to be experienced. Enjoy it .

The meal was excellent! We treated ourselves to the VIP dinner which included alcohol. The concert was so professional and the musicians conveyed their enthusiasm through their music. I would highly recommend this event.

This was a fantastic experience and well worth the price. From the free funicular ride up to the fortress, to the sunset views of the city looking back over the skyline, and of course the incredible concert in the chamber at the top of the tower. All of it was a truly enjoyable evening.

The concept behind it was good. But we were seated at a table where one person was facing a wall and had no view whatsoever. We asked to be moved to another table but the waiter refused. And there were extra tables! Other guests appeared to have a different menu. I don’t recall being offered a choice There were a lot of stairs involved in getting to the concert hall. This should have been states clearly

Phenomenal!! Venue was great and concert was awesome. We were hesitant to do this because of how long it was but it went by so quick and of course dinner was included so worth the time and money.

This was a great evening. We chose the VIP package which included an intermission drink. The meal was fabulous. We had a choice of fish or meat for dinner and both were delicious.The view of the sun setting over Salzburg mountains was stunning. We met a lot of new friends and the concert was amazing! Even if you are not familiar with classical music, the musicians played to the audience. They were skilled and entertaining. They played music that was familiar to everybody at some point in the concert. I’m so glad we took part in this event!!

The concert is great but there are not many choices for the dinner and it’s not good enough to recommend.

We don't have accessibility issues but I don't recall reading anything about the steps needed to take from the dining room to the concert hall. That might be an important aspect for some.

The atmosphere having dinner outside was magical. I wish you had a third choice of chicken on the menu.

It was a lovely evening sitting on the terrace high above Salzburg. The dinner was very good and the service too. The concert itself was very entertaining and in such an interesting venue.

This was our first activity in Salzburg and it was a lovely start to our time there. Dinner was outside overlooking the city. We got the VIP package - which surprisingly included unlimited drinks (alcoholic or non) throughout dinner and front row seats for the concert. After dinner, we headed inside the fortress into a small-ish concert hall. The musicians were super talented and playful with the audience. It lasted about an hour or so, which was the perfect amount of time. As we were there in August, the hall was incredibly hot. Luckily, we were told to keep our tickets for a free drink during intermission, which was a nice touch.

Lovely venue - so special! Delicious food! The musicians were so talented and entertaining! Just do it! You won’t regret it - we did the Golden VIP tour.

Recommended The weather was amazing we went in early September. The hospitality and service were great. Seeing the city at night was spectacular. A lot of stairs!

The best tour in Salzburg. The meal was excellent. The concert musicians that played were flawless the first violin was outstanding!

This is a first rate experience. If possible, book the Golden VIP dinner, since drinks were included. The dinner was set on this beautiful rock wall patio, the service fabulous, and the food was delicious. Then (after climbing several sets of stairs), you’re in the beautiful concert hall. The stringed quintet and pianist performed some beautiful Mozart and other pieces. There was some fun entertainment with the musicians as well. It was just a beautiful evening and don’t miss the view from the top of the fortress as the lights of Salzburg come on.

The scenery from the fortress is so beautiful and the dinner was very good! The concert was wonderful just a little warm dress lately if you’re there in the summer. Overall, a wonderful experience!

We started with a set course dinner at the top in the fortress overlooking the valley and mountains. The food was very good and the service was impeccable. Then we moved to the concert at a higher level in the Fortress, which had views overlooking the old town and the city lights of Salzburg. The concert was outstanding and would highly recommend not to miss the Mozart concert.

Make sure you know where and how to get up there. The staff and especially the musicians were absolutely wonderful. Just a great night. And the view at night was incredible.

The food for the basic level was adequate but the concert was exceptional! The soup and dessert were very good.

There are a fair number of stairs and unimproved walking surfaces. It is easy to get lost after dark.
