The only thing better than taking an apple strudel and pretzel making class while here in Austria is taking an apple strudel and pretzel making class with the most gentle, beautiful soul you could ever hope to meet. And that’s who Agnes is. She’s positive and reassuring and a great teacher and she helped us make an amazing apple strudel and also some great pretzels. Now, will we be able to duplicate the results when we try to do this at home? Who knows. But we’re certainly going to try. In fact we’re thinking of doing the apple strudel for our moms for thanksgiving. Thanks Agnes! You’re the best

Itinerary
Your Apple Strudel & Austrian Pastries Masterclass takes place in our light-filled studio on the top floor of a beautiful historic villa — right by Mozart's Bridge, with panoramic views of Hohensalzburg Fortress and the Old Town. At your own workstation, you'll learn the secrets of authentic Austrian apple strudel — from stretching the dough paper-thin without tearing it to filling and rolling your strudel to perfection. No prior baking experience needed — we'll guide you every step of the way. And there's more: you'll also create one of our favourite Austrian pastries together — a second little masterpiece to enjoy warm alongside your strudel. Finally, sit back and enjoy your freshly baked creations: warm apple strudel served with vanilla ice cream, your homemade pastry, and those beautiful Salzburg views. Some guests tell us their homemade apple strudel is the best souvenir they take away from Salzburg. Beautiful studio, overlooking the fortress and river, patient teacher and chef, wonderful recipe that was ultimately delicious apple streusel and bonus cookies
This is the loveliest learning experience. Wonderful teacher, fun, bright atmosphere. And the food is perfect. Definitely highly recommended!
A relaxing way to spend the first day in Austria. So relaxing, peaceful and truly enjoyable . Of course the strudel was amazing and learning how to make it so much fun . Thank you.
The class was so much fun! She was clear with her instructions and was so patient and helpful
Amazing cooking class! Would recommend to anyone coming to visit Salzburg
Agnes is fantastic and the class was a great time! Best baking class in the area.
Great experience for first time bakers! Would definitely recommend this experience if you have extra time in Salzburg.
Some experiences are about what you do, and others are about how they make you feel. This one was both. We spent an evening in a beautiful historic villa overlooking Salzburg’s Old Town and Fortress, learning to make traditional Austrian apple strudel and pretzels from scratch. We stretched the dough paper-thin by hand, discovered the little techniques that make all the difference, and made everything ourselves. It was wonderfully hands-on, fun, and surprisingly satisfying. But what made the evening special was how everything came together. The setting, the food, the stories, the people around the table. While our strudel baked, we enjoyed freshly made pretzels, delicious Austrian dishes and good conversation with fellow travellers. And then came the warm apple strudel with vanilla ice cream, enjoyed with one of the most beautiful views in Salzburg. The team made everything feel effortless, while you could tell how much thought and care had gone into the experience. We never felt like we were simply attending another tourist activity. We were learning something authentic, sharing a lovely evening and making memories we’ll take home with us. We’ve visited beautiful places and eaten wonderful food on our travels, but this was something different: a genuine taste of Austria, with a view we won’t forget. If you’re visiting Salzburg, make room for this experience. It’s not just about learning to make strudel. It’s about spending an evening somewhere truly special. And yes, the strudel really is that good! 🍎
Agnes was absolutely delightful! Her space is fantastic and the views are incredible. It was so fun learning how to make the strudel and participating hands-on. But the best part was eating it! It was absolutely delicious and such a fun activity to do in Salzburg. Highly recommend.
Great way to end our day in Salzburg! Agnes was an amazing teacher and the Strudel and cookies were delicious. Beautiful cooking space, clean, warm and inviting with beautiful views. The best part was sitting dow to eat and enjoy our baking! Highly recommend.
Can’t say enough positive about Agnes. A glowing calm spirit with a great sense of humor and gift to teach. I don’t know how she taught us to make a beautiful apple strudel with our own two hands in one hour, but she did. Looking forward to practicing and reintroducing this lost recipe in our family from Austria (not too many generations ago) this holiday season. Many, many thanks, Agnes. Also, a stunning location! Do this in Salzburg for a memorable trip and enriching experience.
Amazing experience would highly recommend to anyone!!!
Incredible experience! The strudel is delicious, the lesson is delightful and the location is just breathtaking! 10/10 stars 100% recommend!
Such a lovely and unique experience. Amazing lady and amazing streudel and cookies. Loved participating and learning the culture.
This is literally one of the most delightful things I think you could do. It is just joy— to learn something so rich in history and culture in such a beautiful place. Nourishing for the soul. Complete trust and ease in this workshop, you could feel how much care and mastery there was in the craft itself and also as a teacher. I took this class with a woman who was a trained chef and I am almost completely illiterate when it comes to making food and it feels like we both enjoyed the experience equally and fully. 🤣 Couldn’t recommend highly enough.
Great views! Great Apple Strudel! Great teacher! Could not ask for anything more! Will be back, soon.
Agnes was amazing! She moved mountains to make a time work after I made a mistake in my booking. She loves what she does and it really shows! We learned a few techniques to make strudel which were very helpful and gave us confidence that we could repeat it at home. The class location couldn’t have been more perfect - the view was absolutely spectacular and made for a perfect experience altogether.
Fantastic, tasty and a delightfully good time. Agnes clearly enjoys what she's doing and it shows and as a result we successfully made some good strudel and pretzels. Good for those who like good food and trying something new (I'm far from an avid baker, I learned a lot). We left very full and satisfied.
This was an amazing experience! And an absolute "must do" for anyone travelling to Salzburg! The room overlooking the river and fortress set the tone for this wonderful class. And Agnes is an absolute delight! Her tips and tricks ensure you will be able to share your travel experience with friends and family back home!
What a wonderful experience. Agnes was warm, friendly and a joy to spend the time learning with. She was informative and patient with us. Would do it again in a minute and recommend it to anyone. The location is a dream too.
Incredible experience making strudel and pretzels. Great instruction and fun interaction. A beautiful view and perfect kitchen. Agnes is fantastic.
I went here with my girlfriend and it was one of the highlights of our Salzburg trip. Agnes is a wonderful host and talented baker who has completely optimized the experience. The class takes place on the top floor of a building overlooking the river, the old city, and a fort on top of a hill. When we were there in September the windows were open and a gentle breeze flowed in. The wooden tables were adorned with flowers and everyone got their own striped apron. The baking is educational and hands-on yet relaxed. Agnes demonstrates technique and then allows you to follow. We made apple strudel and cookies, and the apple strudel was a step above any of the other ones I had tried in Austria. Surprisingly, the recipe was relatively simple to follow—another example of how Agnes has optimized this process. As someone who has previously taken pasta and pizza making classes that were fun but didn’t become integrated into my life, I can confidently say that I will be making this strudel at home. Overall, Agnes provides a unique and memorable baking experience that my partner and I will cherish forever. I would highly recommend this to anyone looking to make their trip special (or just taste the best apple strudel!!).
A professional yet very personal experience, and the amazing views from Agnes's apartment were a bonus! The delicious soup and glass of wine were a bonus!
This class was a blast from start to finish. Agnes was very welcoming, extremely patient and has amazing energy that gives you the confidence to tackle what feels like a feat of baking. Just wait until you try the apple strudel. And the view?!? You will not be disappointed. I will be "attempting" to follow this recipe at home
We booked this event with some people on our tour group. It was amazing. Agnes made the class very easy to follow and fun. She was a joy to talk to, and I really liked that we got to make “bonus” treats while the strudel was baking. Salzburg was one of our favorite stops on our trip and this class made it even better!
Agnes was a DELIGHT!!! Her personality and knowledge made our experience outstanding!! Very knowledgeable on Austrian baking, and had such a darling space to do it in. She really took the time, and cared so much to help my little bit older parents. 10 out of 10 would recommend.
My tour guide booked this class for my tour and what a wonderful experience it was! Agnes showed us how to make apple strudel and pretzels and then afterwards cooked us a lovely dinner. Her and her assistant were so kind and helpful and the class made strudel seem less intimidating and not scary at all! I would definitely recommend this experience to anyone visiting Salzburg and Agnes is such a ray of sunshine and genuinely wants you to have a good experience in her class.
What an amazing experience we had with Agnes! She has the most beautiful space in Salzburg, it overlooks the Mozart bridge. And we learned to make Apple Strudel, in this beautiful space with her , she gives step by step instruction and shows you tricks and makes it fun! My husband and I enjoyed the experience immensely and would suggest it for anyone whom loves to cook/bake or even a kitchen novice , as Agnes is patient and friendly and really is great instructor. This was the cherry on top of our trip to Salzburg, or shall I say apple !
Exceptional workshop with Agnes. We were very lucky to have a private workshop in May, and loved speaking with & learning from this wonderful lady! The techniques were taught expertly, and we felt we were in safe hands. We even made Viennese cookies which was a lovely touch. At the end, we very much enjoyed eating our tasty creation with some ice cream & a drink. The recipes were also shared for us to try at home. 5* experience, and if we’re in Vienna again, we will definitely revisit Agnes! With love from Wales. H & D xx
The group that had booked for the same timeslot as us had a delay, so we had the delightful experience of having Agnes's full attention! After watching the Apfelstrudel show at Schönbrunn Palace, we were intimidated. Agnes really simplified the process and made this such a cozy baking experience. We even had enough time to make Almond cookies - she answered all our questions, we talked substitutes and American equivalents. Making the pastry on a small kitchen table helped make it so accessible - we enjoy making her recipe at home!
This was phenomenal!! Agnes taught us everything we needed to know to make awesome crispy Apple strudel! Don’t eat another “soupy” strudel in a restaurant. She taught us all of the secrets on how to make the strudel delicious and tasty! My wife and I really enjoyed the love that Agnes puts into her cooking. We would rate this a 10 out 5 stars if we could.
This apple strudel baking class was an amazing experience! Agnes was so kind and taught us the magic of creating apple strudel and the perfect dough. The baking studio was bright, clean and inviting. We had a quick walk over to Schonbrunn palace after to eat more of our strudel. So much fun, I would definitely recommend investing in this experience!!
The class so fun and enjoyable. Agnes was amazing in providing direction to make it easy to follow. We never have done a cooking class but would book another after the class with Agnes.
I came across this course thanks to a video on Instagram, where Agnes was rolling strudel in a way I had never seen before back home (in the Czechia we also do strudels), and I wanted to try it and learn how to do it myself. The lesson was wonderful, I felt very comfortable and relaxed, I got to try everything myself, and I received lots of interesting advice and tips. I highly recommend it to anyone visiting Vienna! You won’t find a better souvenir! 🫶
Amazing!!! Literally the best apple strudel and pretzels we've ever had. Everything was delicious and so easy to make again at home. One of my favorite experiences I've ever done
I had such a wonderful experience learning how to make apple strudel. The host was absolutely five stars, so lovely, warm, and kind throughout the entire session. Agnes made everything feel easy and enjoyable, even for someone with little baking experience. The atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming, and the instructions were clear and hands-on, which made the process really fun. By the end, I felt genuinely proud of what I had made and it tasted amazing too! This experience has definitely inspired me to try making apple strudel again and again at home. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a memorable and delicious activity.
I recently traveled to Vienna for a weekend solo trip and booked a class with Agnes. She was absolutely wonderful!! Despite me being 25 minutes late (directions mishap on my end), she was very warm and accommodating. She’s quite the amazing teacher giving both visual and verbal cues and embracing the mishaps that come with baking. In our time together we made an apple strudel and Christmas Viennese cookies, both were some of the best baked goods I’ve ever tasted. The atmosphere of the studio was quite lovely, as it was very bright and welcoming. She even had fresh tulips on display!!! I believed her service to be quite affordable, especially as a solo traveler. All was done in about 1hr 30min. I don’t think I can recommend her enough, book with Agnes, it’s a life-changing experience💗
We thoroughly enjoyed learning to make strudel and cookies. The shop is located just behind McDonalds thru unmarked double doors and is on the 2nd floor on the left. Enjoy
We had booked the strudel & cookie class as a family with our nine year old son. It turned out to be one of the high points of our short stay in Vienna. The great new cooking studio is in short walking distance from Schönbrunn Castle and combining a visit at the castle with Agnes’ class is a great idea. Agnes is not only a great teacher but also an amazing host and we truly enjoyed the experience. We had the class in German but Agnes speaks excellent English too. Learning who to make an amazing authentic Strudel (it’s much easier than I thought) is definitely the coolest souvenir we are taking home. Highly recommended!
Our group visited Agnes on a cold February afternoon and we left with warm and fuzzy feelings all over, and yes of course with plenty of delicious food and strudel in our stomach as well. Agnes was very diligent and caring, showing us every step of the way. Her approach is very home and beginner friendly, ensuring that you’ll be able to easily replicate once you return home. After the strudel and pretzels were made, we were also served an amazing spread of homemade dinner, from mashed potatoes to fresh garden salad. I honestly cannot recommend this enough! It’s 100% worth your time and money. I’m not recommending this to everyone visiting Vienna! Enjoy a 2 hour full of laughters and knowledge!
Agnes, who runs this class, provides the perfect cooking experience. Her facility is spotless and well organized. She leads you through the strudel-making process by first demonstrating how to do it and then letting the students repeat the process. Her guidance was amazing helpful. For example, you often read recipes that tell you to flour the work surface. But, how do you know how much flour is correct? After taking her class I feel I know how to get it right. The cookie making segment was also enjoyable. Again, she demonstrates how to make the cookies, and then the group jumps in and finishes the batch. You make the cookies while the strudel is baking. Then you get to enjoy eating the warm fast-baking cookies, which we totally devoured. Fortunately, we still had enough appetite to eat the strudel, which Agnes serves with ice-cream. Wow! The class included plenty of time to prepare, bake, and enjoy the food without feeling rushed in any way. Throughout the whole class, Agnes’ humor, expertise, and patience made everything special. It was easy to find the class, just be sure to look at the entrance buttons by the street door to find the one marked with an apple. You go up a couple of flights of stairs which helped whet our appetites. The class was perfect for two couples. It would also work well for families. I highly recommend this class.
The apple strudel course in Vienna was a really great experience! In a relaxed atmosphere, we learned step by step how to prepare a real Austrian apple strudel – from wafer-thin drawn dough to perfectly seasoned apple filling. The instructions were very understandable, friendly and explained with a lot of patience, so that really everyone could participate. It was especially nice that you did everything yourself and not just watched. In the end, getting your own freshly baked apple strudel out of the oven and enjoying it together was just great. The scent, taste and feeling of having made it yourself make it an unforgettable experience. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Vienna or simply having fun baking!
An unforgettable baking course – full of heart and Viennese magic! The apple strudel as well as the pretzels we conjured under the guidance of Agnes were just heavenly. Our friend’s 11-year-old daughter was completely thrilled – for her this moment was the big highlight of her Vienna holiday. I heartily recommend this baking course, it is an experience full of warmth, laughter, learning and a lot of enjoyment. Thank you Agnes!
