We spent a delightful evening in a charming, quaint setting making strudel and pretzels with our capable, detailed and patient cooking teacher. Many in our group were surprised at how easily they were able to make strudel and learn how to twist and cook pretzels. The goulash served with the meal was also delicious. Everyone was pleased at the attention to detail, clarity of instructions, and especially eating the dishes. The added vocal music was delightful and performed by a very talented and engaging singer. It was an evening well spent with the food and culture of Salzburg.

We did this cooking experience as a family. The instruction was very good and we had a good time preparing the food. The music at the end was also very good. We enjoyed this event.
This was a major highlight of my month-long solo tour of Europe. I got to make a delicious apple strudel and a pretzel with some very friendly, interesting travelers. The instructions were clear and easy to follow. I was so pleased with my bake creations! I'm not sure which I liked best - making them or eating them! Our chef instructor was warm and friendly and made the class feel right at home. And, when the baking was finished we all sat around tables and had a delicious piping hot bowl of goulash to go with our pretzel, and of course apple strudel for dessert! I highly recommend this experience as a "must do" while in Salzburg.
The cook class was wonderful. We made apple strudel and pretzels. Dinner was served as well. The two women were excellent!
Our group of 24 absolutely loved EVERYTHING about this experience! The venue, the staff, the expertise instructions, the food and the beautiful singing!! Wow! Exceeded our expectations and we all left full and smiling!
Very interactive! You will come away full and delighted with your baking. Prep work is done for you and you get to enjoy the fun.
What an amazing time. I can’t eat another apple strudel again unless I’ll make it myself. The instruction was so thorough and clear…the young woman was who was our chef (Kylie, I believe) was quite talented in stretching the dough. The pretzels as well were the best I’ve had in all the land! I can’t believe I made them! We will see if our delicious cooking can be replicated at home. The venue is incredible…a little kitchen built into the side of a mountain. So cozy and intriguing! To make it all even more amazing they serve us the best beef goulash ever along side your fresh hot pretzel and your own apple strudel for dessert. And for dinner entertainment the assistant who just so happens to be a student of Opera performs some of the most amazing songs. Truly talented young woman whose name I can’t spell or pronounce but is a final year student at the university. Bring some euros so you can get some wine or beer or schnapps which are available for purchase. Water is provided for free. And then if that’s not enough they give you a piece of strudel to take home with you. It was a truly remarkable evening.
My family had a fun night at Edelweiss Cooking school making pretzels, apple strudel and enjoying dinner (main entree provided).
This was a great experience but I gave it three stars because it was so expensive and I believe it should’ve included a glass of wine or beer and not to be charged on top of what we’ve already paid! We only made apple strudel and pretzel, and I don’t believe it’s that expensive for how much we paid. I think it would’ve just made the experience a lot better. All of the cooking classes we’ve been to have had drinks included.
What a fun way to spend an evening with friends in Salzburg! The cooking class was fun and the instructor was wonderful! It was a 2 hour long activity, and then we got to sit down as a group with the other participants and eat a wonderful soup that they had prepared and also ate the pretzels and strudel that we had made. To make the evening complete, a talented young woman entertained us with her soprano operatic performance while we ate our dinner! Highly recommend this for all ages, we went with a group of friends, but families would love this as well. It was held at the Edelweiss cooking school in an amazing room in a cavern at the base of a mountain. The two young women that hosted us tonight were absolutely fantastic!!
The whole experience was great. From the apple strudel to the pretzels, as well as the dinner and the music. Highly recommend.
This was a very fun interactive shared experience. We enjoyed making the strudel, pretzels, sharing a meal and wonderful music!
We had a group of 6. The experience was excellent. We loved the cooking of Apple Strudel and Pretzels. We enjoyed the flavorful Goulash that was served with the pretzels we made. The entertainment was super. Her voice was engaging. This by far an enjoyable and unforgettable experience.
Wonderful experience. The cooking instructor was outstanding and the entertainment extraordinary. It was fun meeting other travelers and sharing in the making and eating of the meal. Highly recommend this tour.
This is a great hands-on experience. You do not have to be a good or experienced cook, or even like cooking. It is a great interactive event that you can enjoy with your travel partner, as well as make new friends at the event. The instructions are clear, concise, and well organized. You are never totally on your own, and the food is excellent.
This was excellent! We thoroughly enjoyed the class, the food and the music by the lovely May! What an exquisite voice!
We thoroughly enjoyed our evening cooking class at Edelweiss Cooking school. From the very beginning, our hosts were super friendly and welcoming. Details of the evening were clearly explained to us: we were allocated a table where we prepared our strudel and Prezel: offered a wine or juice and then watched the demonstration by the host. After cooking, we were served a hearty beef broth with our cooked prezel and strudel for dessert. We were also entertained by one of the staff who sang beautiful operatic songs and 2 songs from Sound of Music. What a fun night of entertainment - a definite highlight for our visit to Salzburg. We would thoroughly recommend this event to other travellers.
The event was well organized. The instructions were clear. It was an enjoyable experience. The music and dinner were especially good.
This is NOT just a cooking class! Yes you will make a strudel and a pretzel, and you may feel a sense of guilt for waiting so long to explore your horizons. But even if you are master baker. you will find value in the experience. The class is intimate in size, ours was 6 couples ranging in age from late 30's to mid 70's. While your strudel and pretzel are baking you will be served a family style dinner with options of wine or beer for nominal fee. The venue is very interesting. The atmosphere at dinner was quiet enough to support conversation without being awkward. Most of the patrons were American (including us) but kudos to the two ladies from Scotland who were a joy to meet. We had a wonderful time. Come hungry :)
AMAZING, FUN, & DELICIOUS! Alina was an excellent instructor, storyteller and operatic singer…we simply had the best time. They were a total of three couples in our class in a cooking kitchen carved into the rock, which in of itself was fascinating and unique and provided great acoustics for the performance (including our own Sound of Music singalong). The best part was that she explained the instructions so well that we feel like we actually have a good shot of repeating these recipes at home. Absolutely delicious dinner and highly recommend this when you come to Salzburg.
The cooking was fun, food was great. Would be nice if they had printed recipes. Would definitely recommend it to others.
A great way to spend a couple of hours in Salzburg, learning some of their traditional baked goods. The teacher was awesome, AND is an opera singer, so she sang for us and it was astounding! We even left with some apple strudel! You won’t regret taking this class!
My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed the cooking class, and eating too! The venue was so unique in an area carved into the mountain! Johann was a great instructor, patient with us, and added a bit of humor into the evening as well. Eating the pretzel we made with the goulash provided was so delicious! And then of course, the Apple Strudel for dessert! The music was provided by a trained opera singer who had a beautiful voice and even treated us to a song from the beloved Sound of Music. A wonderful evening!
Whilst obviously it would be great to make the dough yourself from scratch, that's just not feasible in a 2hr class. We stretched the strudel pastry and complied it, and made our own pretzels. Dinner was a delicious goulash, our pretzel and our strudel, with leftovers taken home with us. Had a fabulous soprano serenade us whilst we ate. All in a cave!
Not only is the space cute and intimate, but also the food, teacher, and singer were fantastic as well! What a great experience and special evening!thank
This was a fabulous experience not to be missed! The staff was so friendly and wonderful! Our meal was delicious! And the singing entertainment spectacular! I would highly recommend.
This was such a fun and unique experience from start to finish! The class itself takes place inside a cave, which made for an amazing atmosphere right from the beginning. Making the apple strudel and pretzels was a blast, and the pretzels turned out delicious. After cooking, we were served a fantastic goulash dinner, but the absolute highlight of the night was the entertainment—an opera singer graced us with a few songs right during dinner! It made the whole evening feel truly special and memorable. Highly recommended if you're looking for great food, hands-on fun, and a unique atmosphere!
This took place at the Edelweiss cooking school. It was really fun. Highly recommend. The teacher was a pro and we had a good time. The dinner (beef soup) was also really good. We’re planning to make streudel and pretzels when we get home.
Wonderful experience. The ladies were so happy to show us how to make strudel and pretzels. The singing performance was beautiful. Very fun experience
We had a great experience learning to cook. Kid friendly and we enjoyed eating all the food afterwards.
It was a lovely cooking experience making strudel and pretzels. Then dinner was served, either goulash or lentil stew, served with our pretzels and apple strudel for dessert. It was a fabulous experience enjoyed by all, and accompanied by an opera singer; a delightful surprise!
A great evening Learning new recipes, music and lovely food Thank you for a great experience
What a fun evening! Even our 16 year old son had a great time! This is definitely a must do! The instructors are wonderful and it was so nice to enjoy a delicious goulash and then get to eat the strudel and pretzels we prepared.
Great experience, we really enjoyed the evening and the performance was excellent. A fun way to wrap up your day in Salzburg. For those that are gluten free or Vegan Edelweiss is very accommodating and can provide alternative options.
Very well organised with step by step instructions. Was super fun and relaxed. Music was beautiful. Very glad did it.
Super fun! Nice dinner. Enjoyed the other guests. So much traffic and trouble parking so leave lots of time.
Taking this class was an excellent way to spend an evening when travelling alone. The instructor was excellent and bothered the strudel and pretzel seem like something you could reproduce at home after learning the techniques. The bonus was the lovely singing provided during the meal.
it was a fun experience set inside a mountain kitchen. The class was swift but effective. Our items were delicious and I cant wait to make at home.
This was the absolute highlight of our trip to Salzburg. Edelweiss Cooking School is in such a charming location and the instructors did a fantastic job of teaching us how to make apple strudel and pretzels. Our dinner was delicious and it was fun to be able to enjoy the fruits of our labor alongside the delicious meal they prepared for us. A standout was the mini-concert we were treated to as we ate - just a remarkable and very personal experience. I loved every minute of it and highly highly recommend this as part of any Salzburg itinerary. It was a 10 out of 10 experience we will remember forever.
Fun environment, delicious food, great entertainment! My family of 5 loved our experience! Well worth the money spent! Our favorite evening in Salzburg!
A fantastic evening with cooking singing and a delicious meal. The ladies were really welcoming and helpful. We all got to experience and take part in the cooking. The food was delicious. The lady who sang and entertained us was amazing. The whole experience was definitely worth the money. Highly recommend
incredible venue in old town Salzburg. very personalized experience with hands on activity. the music was amazing as we were serenaded by an opera singer
It was such an amazing evening! I would recommend this to everyone coming to Salzburg. Truly an unforgettable night!
This was a cozy evening at the kitchen. Things involving dough leave me a bit intimidated, but Jimmy made it look so easy, and it was! He rotated around and helped as needed, offering tips and encouragement. Same holds true for the pretzel portion of the evening. He had this timed well; while the items were in the oven, his lovely wife serenaded us with her lovely opera singing and we were served a dinner of goulash. The evening ended with our baked treats. I will say, that strudel was so much better than what I had a a fancy restaurant the night before! Great experience, well prepared, and a lot of tasty fun! Would definitely recommend!!!
What a fun evening. We learned how to make strudel- rolling out the dough, lifting it to stretch it out and how to fill and fold it into the perfect dessert. We also learned how to make pretzels. While strudel and pretzels were baking, we were entertained with music. To top everything off, we were served soup with our pretzels and strudel, enjoying a surprise dinner with fellow students. A wonderful night for all.
Incredible! We thoroughly enjoyed our cooking experience. Simple recipes, delicious and modifications were provide for us as vegetarians. A bonus serenade as well!
Amazing class! Great teacher, great value, and great time! Highly recommended to anyone who wants to have a great night out. With the teachers help we all were amazing chefs.
Making the strudel and pretzel were so easy and tasty! The instructors were very nice and willing to offer a helping hand when needed.
It was a very enjoyable learning experience. The food was good and the entertainment better and a small cozy historic setting.
This was so much fun! What a great memory from our time here. The ladies were amazing and the singing was the icing on the cake!!
