Great place to stay overnight on the way to Italy. Big, comfortable rooms, spacious parking, location just minutes away from the highway. Solid Austrian dinners and rich breakfasts (juices taste bit artificial though). That wasn't our last visit for sure
My husband and I stayed here while traveling for our honeymoon and a friend’s wedding, and we had a phenomenal experience. The staff were incredibly warm and welcoming and truly made us feel at home. Our room was beautiful, and the saunas were stunning and deeply relaxing. But the real standout for us was the food. The breakfast was unbelievably fresh and delicious, and the dinner we enjoyed one evening is something we will be thinking about for a long time.
Recently stayed at Der Holznerwirt and had an absolutely wonderful experience from start to finish. The hotel combines traditional charm with modern comfort, creating a truly relaxing atmosphere. The spa facilities were exceptional — beautifully maintained and incredibly peaceful, offering the perfect place to unwind after a day of exploring. The restaurant exceeded all expectations as well; every meal was delicious. Also the breakfast buffet had a wide selection of fresh, high-quality options. A special mention goes to the staff, who were warm, attentive, and genuinely helpful throughout our stay. Their hospitality made us feel truly welcome. We also appreciated the free car park, which made everything very convenient, and the complimentary bus passes provided by the hotel — a thoughtful touch that made getting around the area effortless. Der Holznerwirt is a place where attention to detail and guest comfort truly shine. We left relaxed, happy, and already looking forward to returning. Highly recommended!
A hotel in a historic building, about a fifteen-minute drive from Salzburg. Quiet location in the village. A good starting point for a star hike. Free parking. Good breakfast and dinner. Comfortable and spacious room. Pleasant spa. Saunas and relaxation room. Professional and pleasant service.
Location is far from Salzburg and that was our preference. We wanted a bit of quiet place close to nature and green. This hotel has been able to preserve old architecture while making sure some of the modern amenities are present. The dress code of the staff gives you a sense that you have entered in the era of 1500s. We stayed there for 3 nights in the first week of August 2025. The staff are super nice and always helping. They made us felt welcome which was comforting to my 3 year old as well. The rooms are spacious with lots of storage. The parking lot has enough space and is free for the hotel guests. Breakfast is amazing with lots of options (for hot plates like omelettes etc. you will have to ask the staff). Their restaurant has a lot of options (Austrian and Italian) to choose from. My kid felt sick the last night of our stay (due to heat), so we chose to dine at our room and hence ordered room service. They understood why we are in the situation and as a courtesy waived off room delivery charges. I will stay here again when I visit Salzburg.
