Excellent hotel. The rooms and public areas are modern, stylish, air conditioned and comfortable. The fact that the owner makes the effort to personally oversee the operation and speak to guests shows the degree of confidence he rightly has in his family's establishment. The service from all who worked there was brilliant. The hotel is a taxi ride away from central Salzburg (cost approx. 30 Euro) or 20 minute bus ride (maybe 4 Euro pp). That said, the man on reception gave us all a lift to the airport for our departure free of charge, which I've only experienced once and that was whilst staying in a five star hotel. Highly recommended.

If you’re planning to travel with kids, don’t stay here. The hotel looks nice from the outside and the rooms are okay, but the property is not welcoming toward families with children. Service overall felt weak — when we asked for something for kids, no one helped. Staff never even smiled at our children, which honestly was not pleasant at all. Breakfast was disappointing. You’d expect fresh coffee and produce given you’re in Austria, surrounded by fruit and vegetable farms, but instead there’s just an ordinary coffee machine and a buffet that looks colorful but has nothing fresh or organic — and honestly, everything on the buffet was quite tasteless. Even the eggs weren’t good. Housekeeping was also inconsistent — the rooms weren’t kept very clean during our stay. The only good thing about the location is that it’s close to the airport. The only reason I’d recommend this hotel is if you’re just passing through and need a one-night stopover — that’s all. It s definetely not worth the price. Dear Hotel Gerl Team, Thank you for your response, though I was surprised by the tone questioning whether my experience was “hard to believe.” A guest should not have to prove their experience — that is exactly what reviews are for. In fact, we had already noticed other negative reviews before our stay and hesitated because of them. For the record, we stayed from May 24–28, with our three young children (2.5-year-old twins and a 5-year-old daughter). As someone who has stayed at hotels all over the world, I expected the breakfast to match what your reviews described. Unfortunately, it did not — the fruits and coffee in particular were disappointing. Even at lower-tier hotels in the Germany/Austria region, I have had noticeably better breakfast quality. Your general praise may reflect other guests’ experiences, but this was mine, and I have every right to share it. It’s good that you emphasize being “careful about cultures and habits,” but this needs to show in practice, not just in words.

This hotel was cool, sleek and every detail seemed considered. Arrival drinks to unexpected upgrade to relaxing pool side to dinner to breakfast, all of it was flawless. The staff were all friendly and helpful making us feel welcome. Thank you to the staff for my birthday cake, it was delicious

Definitely one of the best hotels I stayed at, staff was very helpful, caring. Breakfast was amazing, it wasn't overcrowded down there, but what was really breathtaking were the views from the pool upstairs. You could see the alps, amazing place to relax and re-charge your batteries. The design of the hotel is top-notch, beautiful architecture, sauna also had a wall with tempered glass, another cool view outside.. I am kinda amazed that it's not a 5 star hotel, cause it definitely deserves it. We are definitely going back!
