Enrique is the best guide I have ever had!! He is so knowledgeable, kind, positive, hilarious, and overall a trusting guide who helped us understand the history of the city while immersing ourselves in the shopping, food, and drinks along the way! He was very accommodating for family who couldn’t continue walking and made us feel so welcomed. 1000/10 recommend!

Itinerary
Discover all the secrets of the historic center of Salvador da Bahia and the Pelourinho neighborhood when you take our fantastic walking tour.
We will have a view from the top of the Conceição Hydraulic Elevator – which has been on an electrical system for a long time – and in the past popularly called “Parafuso”, it was the first urban elevator in the world. When it opened in 1873, it was also the tallest, at 63 meters. It connects Bairro do Comércio to Cidade Alta, in a journey of approximately 20 seconds. That's when there's no queue. So, on party days in that area, be prepared because the elevator is used as everyday public transport by those who live in the city.
Strolling through the captivating Brazilian coastal city of Salvador da Bahia, we'll discover the secrets of iconic landmarks like the magnificent Rio Branco Palace and the incredible Lacerda Elevator.
The place where the Fallen Cross Monument is located has a lot of history, with different opinions. That was where the Sé Church stood, demolished to make way for the tram (1933). If you follow the trails that pass through Rua Chile, they will take you exactly there, Praça da Cruz Caída. Inaugurated in 1999, Cruz Caída pays homage to the disappearance of this former Cathedral Church, the Primatial of Brazil.
Terreiro de Jesus is a square of great historical and cultural importance located in the Historic Center of Salvador, Bahia, Brazil.
It took three years and eight months of renovation. But do you know how long it took to build? EIGHTEEN. YEARS! Yes, 18 years! Built since 1657, this gem located in the heart of Pelourinho is back in everyday life and in the faith of Bahia and around the world. The Cathedral is one of the most important sacred buildings in Colonial Brazil, a testimony to the country's history and Catholicism.
Built between the 17th and 18th centuries, the Church and Convent of São Francisco are classified as one of the Seven Wonders of Portuguese Origin in the World and listed by IPHAN. Its 18th century Portuguese tiles reproduce the birth of Saint Francis and are adorned with wooden carvings molded with gold powder and with Brazilian baroque symbols: leaves, pelicans, flowers, little angels.
We end our tour at the most famous points on our circuit where Michael Jackson recorded his iconic video clip.

Adilson was amazing! He was incredibly knowledgeable, personable, funny and kind during the walking tour. He was very patient as we arrived late, but had a wonderful attitude throughout the whole experience even in the heat (which he called chilly!). We had a great time seeing pieces of Salvador that we otherwise may have overlooked, meeting locals, and getting special “behind-the-scenes” sneak peeks into shops, stands, and other bites of Salvador. I’d 100% recommend to any friend or known associate visiting to partake in this tour.
Maria is the best! She knew so much about the history and today’s happenings around Salvador. She was so kind and patient and an all-around lovely person to spend a few hours with. We all had a wonderful time and learned new things. A win-win!
Adilson was an excellent guide and is very knowledgeable. The tour is well priced compared to others and we visuted some of the major sites in Salvador. It was a wonderful day!!!
A fantastic informative tour - Adilson was so passionate about his city and knowledgeable- we learned so much about the African history and its impact. Recommended restaurants were spot on ! Definitely recommend and enjoy !
unforgettable highlight of Salvador. Our guide Adnelson was amazing — engaging, knowledgeable, and truly brought the history to life with every step. As visitors of African descent, we especially valued the rich cross-cultural exchanges, which made the experience feel deeply personal and meaningful. We would highly recommend this as a number one tour in Salvador — insightful, moving, and not to be missed.
We had a lovely walk of the old town with Enrique who changed our meeting place so it would be more convenient for us. He gave us the somewhat sad history of Salvador which we found illuminating and made the occasional cooling off stop which included a delicious gelato stop. All in all a lovely morning.
Shout out to the amazing network behind this tour, everything was organized seamlessly and thoughtfully put together. The guide was incredibly knowledgeable, covering both the history and present in a way that made everything click. I appreciated how they answered all my questions and even gave personalized recommendations. Definitely a great experience all around and highly recommended.
The guide was very knowledgeable and took us around Pelourinho and the other parts of Salvador. A great tour to do on your first day here in order to understand how the city works and where to go. The guide spoke very good french and english and gave us advice for the rest of the trip, with regards to activities and restaurants. Also explained how to deal with locals and stay safe. I would highly recommend him!
We've done several self tours with GPS and other vendors. This one did not talk to us at all and it did not give us GPS on going directions as we were going. Instead it was a static view of where it was with no idea how far we were going to go . Would not do this again
Our trip to Salvador was with understanding and appreciation for its rich culture and history. If Enrique had not been our guide, this would not have been the case. Salvador is a complex place that can either confuse its visitors or lure them in. Enrique lured us in. He explained the history in a way that made the subject accessible and fascinating. His passion for the city is contagious and we left the tour feeling totally enchanted. Enrique not only knows his way around, he seems to know everyone. Since we were with Enrique, street vendors were happy to let us sample what they were selling (don’t miss out on the coconut lime water) and we felt connected to the people. Enrique made our trip to Salvador magical. We highly recommend him.
Enrique was so knowledgeable, professional and helped us to quickly establish the best places to see in Bahia. In addition, he taught us so much about the history of the place. He was truly a gem! Would recommend him to anyone wanting to quickly learn about Bahia.
This private walking tour was very well organised and made excellent use of time. Although the walk lasted only about two hours, it was packed with rich insights into the history, culture, and everyday life of Pelourinho. The guide was knowledgeable and engaging, explaining details clearly while keeping the pace comfortable. It was an efficient and rewarding way to learn a great deal in a relatively short time, especially for visitors who want depth without a long commitment.

Enrique brings so much passion and knowledge to his tour of Salvador. I came away having learned a lot about the city and Brazil. It gave me a layered appreciation of the city's streets and its people.
We had a great tour! We learned a great deal of Brazilian history and culture would definitely recommend.
We had an amazing 2.5-hour tour with our guide, Adilson. He is knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful. It felt as if we were taking a walk with a seasoned history professor who genuinely loves this subject. Adilson is respected by many in the Pelourinho neighborhood, and this made navigating the area a good experience. Toured on a Wednesday, crowds were very manageable. Good option for adults and older children. A delightful and unforgettable tour, worth the admission fee.
We had a great experience in Salvador! Our tour guide was knowledgeable, professional and an all around great person. He adapted the tour to fit our interests and provided lots of interesting nuggets of information. Pelourinho as a neighborhood is not to be missed, full of color, music and history!
The tour was good and Maria was a fabulous guide but we were forced to join a group or our private tour would be cancelled so while we were in a small group (9 people total), she had to use a small microphone which is not how we prefer to have walking tours.
I was the only person which was great! My guide was knowledgeable and kind. Though, I would not recommend booking on this website. I paid 85 USD for one ticket. This company is the same as the free tours company where you can pay as u feel (recommended between 15-60 USD). I think that I paid way too much for what the 2 hours was worth. Though, I would recommend it if you go through the another website or find them and pay in person at the end! The guide sent me a bunch of recommendations afterward which were lovely.
Great activity, we've learn a lot about Bahia the culture, the history, ... Our guide was friendly and really knowledgeable, I would definitely recommend
Maria was an excellent guide ,highly recommend her .knowledgeable and helpful. Even told us about an outdoor concert which we did attend.
Adilson was wonderful! He’s knowledgeable, funny, and professional. If you’re ever in Salvador I highly recommend booking this tour!!

A really insightful and comprehensive tour of the main cultural sites and city. Maria was a fantastic tour guide and showed us all of the main sites alongside advice on what to do while staying in her city. Couldn’t recommend this more!
Eduardo was an excellent guide to the complex history of Salvador and Bahia, taking us through the sites and connecting past and present. I especially appreciated his expertise in Brazilian history.
Great guide! Maria is super knowledgeable and clearly passionate about Salvador. We learned about the city’s history, architecture and cuisine. Highly recommend!
We did a private tour with our fantastic guide Facundo and it was unbelievable! We left the tour with so much knowledge about the history, traditions and highlights of the city of Salvador and the Pelourinho. Facundo is an absolute star, he’s knowledgeable, approachable and easy going. Hands down one of the best tour guides we’ve ever had. Gracias Facu! We totally recommend this tour especially if you’re short on time.
We went on the tour with Maria, a great guide. She was so kind and well educated that astonished us. Thank you,Maria! She spoke fluent English, everyone of us could follow her. She asked us many times if we needed something. Very nice of her
Maria was awesome! She curated the tour to match what we were most interested in. She was exceptionally knowledgeable about Salvador, Bahia, and Brazil. We never felt rushed and were able to make some special stops along the way at places we would have never discovered on our own. Maria has many recommendations for how to explore the city after your tour so take it on the first day of your trip! Thank you Maria!!

Eduardo seemed knowledgeable about his hometown Salvador. He seemed genuinely amiable with different people around the town.
We really enjoyed the tour through pelourinho and the historic center. You get to see different sides of the city and the stories make the city come to life. Our tour leader Maria was the best: she is passionate, has a deep knowledge about the city and gives great advice to navigate through Salvador. A great way to start your Salvador experience and decide which events/highlights you want to visit next.
Excellent walking tour and quite enlightening with Eduardo giving a full review of the history of the City and visited some lovely places.
From its colorful colonial buildings to the lively music and dance, this city was unforgettable. The tour was excellent, full of insights into the city’s history.
We had scheduled private tour for me and my husband and guide was a no-show! He later says he was there but we got to meeting point way before meeting time. If you choose to use this company and tour be 200% clear with guide where to meet EXACT LOCATION!
It was a very beautiful experience, it is very valuable and enriching to tour the place listening to its history and being in contact with its people. Thank you Facundo for your time on the tour!
Maria is a fantastic and very knowledgeable guide, she told us the history and anecdotes of the city in a pleasant and interesting way. We recommend this activity to everyone to better understand this city and its culture.
Facundo took us to explore the historic center. It was wonderful and he demonstrated great knowledge about the history of the city and Brazil. I did the tour with my mother, who walks a bit slower, and Facundo was very patient and attentive to our needs. It was an excellent option for greater flexibility. At no point did he make us feel rushed and he offered many options and recommendations for the rest of our trip.
The guide Carlos is an excellent professional. We made a lovely walk through the streets of Salvador. He told us about the city, explained details of the history and culture of the place, typical meals, gave tips where to go and what to do in the other days we were there. It was wonderful. We were very happy with the guide Carlos.
Wonderful tour with Facundo. Totally recommended to know pelourinho Recommended excellent places to continue knowing
Grand tour. If you want to know part of the history of Salvador do it with Salvador. You won't regret it. I was going to walk the pelourinho alone... good thing I hired this tour... impeccable.
We did the xon Facundo tour. He knows mkcho of Bahia’s history, knows the places and gave us good recommendations of places to visit, where to eat and what shows there were. Highly recommended
Facundo was very professional. He told us enough and was able to answer all our questions. I also loved that he was flexible with his route, for example he let us go to live music as soon as we heard it.
We did the tour with Facundo, it was very good, we toured very interesting historical places and gave us recommendations about the city.
Very good experience. They taught us history and also gave us many tips on where to eat and how to stay safe.
We did our free tour with Facundo, an Argentine guide based in Salvador. He knows the city like the back of his hand and it shows! Very informative, interesting and entertaining, it was a real pleasure! Apart from the tour, Facundo gave us very good recommendations on where to eat, what areas to visit, music activities at night... The best guide!
Very good tour to see different the historic center and know the background of everything. You are invited to try two typical drinks which I thought was a very nice gesture, it is the first tour I take that does. Thanks Facundo!
