About Activity
On this 5-hour adventure, you will getting know Salvador’s gastronomic secrets! You will start touring the city with its local markets. In Salvador, a city surrounded by the bay and ocean, where the fishermen are protected by the goddess of the sea, Yemanjá, we recommend beginning your tour of Bahia cuisine at the São Joaquim market. The Sao Joaquim market has been a crucial trading link for the abundance of produce from the farming hinterland of the Reconcavo for many years. It remains Brazil's largest open-air market, with almost 800 stalls selling a variety of goods, from fruits and vegetables to spare parts for domestic appliances, sacred herbs and religious artifacts of the candomblé, to the ingredients for Bahia cuisine’s signature dish, the moqueca - cilantro, limes, garlic, coconut milk, and dendê palm oil. First, we will visit the market, and later enjoy the famous moqueca dish in a local city restaurant. (Not included in the rate)
