⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ An Unforgettable Private Tour of Pelourinho! We had the absolute pleasure of doing the Exclusive & Private Walking Tour in Pelourinho, and it was one of the highlights of our trip to Salvador. Gabriella was an exceptional guide — incredibly knowledgeable, engaging, and passionate about the culture and history of Salvador and the state of Bahia. She didn’t just walk us through the streets; she truly brought the city to life. From the colonial architecture and vibrant streets of Pelourinho to the deeper historical context of Brazil’s past, she explained everything in a way that was both educational and captivating. What made the experience even more special was how personalized it felt. Gabriella took time to answer our questions, share local insights, and connect the history to present-day life in Salvador. Her depth of knowledge about Afro-Brazilian culture, traditions, and the city’s significance was impressive. If you’re visiting Salvador and want a meaningful, well-guided experience of Pelourinho, this private tour is absolutely worth it — and if you can request Gabriella, do it! Highly recommend by Missy and Neal thank you!

Itinerary
During this 3h experience we will learn about the beginning of Brazil and the importance of Salvador as the Black Capital of Latin America. From the famous Castro Alves Square, or as we call it here "a praça do povo”(people’s square), we will start our journey together discovering why Salvador is such a magical place. The Municipal Square, Lacerda Elevator and the Fallen Cross from where we have breath taking views of the Bay of All Saints and Itaparica Island. Centenary churches like the Cathedral and rich ones like São Francisco will definitely be part of our itinerary. Now it’s time for a refreshing coconut water on our way into the heart of the Historical Center, the Pelourinho Square where we will visit the Baian Gastronomy Museum to learn about the African influence through the different typical dishes. This is a very complete and rich tour and a “must do” if you want to learn about our city.

I was fortunate to have Gabriela Parnetti as my guide. Her knowledge of history and culture in Pelourinho and surrounding areas of Salvador was amazing. There is lots of information which she is able to clearly share and make adjustments to address your specific interests. The added bonus is Gabriela is a very nice person and easy to communicate with. Thank you for making this a wonderful experience.
Gabriela is friendly and very knowledgeable. I learnt a lot, the historical area in Salvador is fascinating.
Joining the walking tour with Gabriela turned out to be a fantastic last minute decision. She provided a thorough and insightful history of Salvador de Bahia, covering each area we visited with great detail and knowledge. Gabriela also shared useful tips, and we made a stop at her favorite acarajé spot, which was absolutely delicious! Over the course of three hours, I learned so much about the city's history. I would definitely recommend this tour!
A wonderful tour I learned so much, it was fantastic. I can’t say enough about Icaro he is a great tour guide and great person. This a tour that is worth the money. I also learned about a few good restaurants to try and the recommendations were on point. Thanks again for making my trip great. I’m already planning my next trip here see you guys then
What a wonderful tour of the Pelourinho and historic centre of Salvador. Gabriela knows so much about Salvador, and you can tailor the tour to your tastes. If you like food (we do), she gives heaps of recommendations of restaurants and Street vendors, if you like history (my partner does) she can go deep into the history of Salvador, if you are running a little late (we were) Gabriela was able to accommodate (thank you so much). A must do tour for first time visitors to Salvador.
Gabriela is a fantastic guide. Not only because of her knowledge of Salvador but also because she tells stories that make the past present and alive. Besides that she is a nice and joyfull lady. We had an amazing tour with her. We would strongly recommend her if you want see and feel the old part of Salvador.
Gabriela was such an amazing guide. I came to Salvador solo, and she made this tour so insightful and educational. She is hilarious and such a personality as well. She made my first day here one of my absolute favorite! After the tour she made some amazing recommendations on where to eat and must see things! Don’t book anywhere else!
We, my husband and myself, were very happy that we did a private tour with Gabriela as opposed to taking a group shore excursion. She was very knowledgeable. She reordered the route to avoid the crowds from the ship's shore excursions. For safety, she advised us to take a taxi to the meeting place as opposed to walking, which we were glad we did. It was 50 Brazilian Real for the taxi ride, about $10. But after we had the lay of the land, and being appropriately dressed down so as not to invite pickpockets, she dropped us off at the Lacerda Elevator and gave us the 30 cents for the fare which took us very close to the cruise terminal and passengers walking on the sidewalks. Aside: In the cruise terminal, there is an ATM, beware the fees!, and if you go just beyond a cash exchange which was very reasonable.
Absolutely wonderful tour with great information, lively conversation and lots of laughs. Gabriela is very knowledgeable about the history, politics, development, and cultures of the region and provides interesting context along the way. Highly recommended!!!
Gabriela messaged me the night before to ensure I knew where to meet her. My flight was getting into Salvador late at night so she very kindly agreed to push back the start of the tour by an hour to allow me more time to rest and then get ready. Gabriela was a friendly knowledgable tour guide. She provided a lot of insight into the history of Salvador and about the architecture of the buildings in Pelourinho. She also told me about the various ways some people try and make money from tourists so I could make an informed decision of who to engage with while exploring Salvador. I had booked the 3 hour walking tour but was so impressed with Gabriela that I extended it to a full day tour where she then took me around other parts of Salvador in her car and even dropped me off at my hotel at the end. Even after the tour she stayed in touch and provided me with valuable tips and advice during the rest of my time in Bahia
Gabriela met us at the airport and, since the very first moment, started sharing information and tips that allowed us to fully enjoy our time in Salvador. One highlight was the walking tour of the Pelourinho, Salvador's delightful historic center, which allowed us to step into the city's rich and vibrant history and culture. Gabi is incredibly knowledgeable about art, history, culture, and Brazil's social and political issues, and answered all our many questions. We not only enjoyed the sights, we also learned a lot! Gabi is very flexible, and conducted the tour at a good pace, which was particularly important for us as we were traveling with children. We loved our time in Salvador and would not hesitate to contact Gabi if we go back. We definitely recommend her!
This tour gives you a little taste of the soul of Brazil. I felt like I got a sense of the mix of culture and diversity of the country while on this tour. And Gabriela is an amazing tour guide that only wants you experience how incredible, warm and welcoming the people of Salvador and all of Bahia, Brazil are. Highly recommend Gabriela and the tour!
Gabriella, our guide met us at airport. She was professional, efficient and very knowledgeable. She was all this and more when we experienced her tour. As a wheelchair user she opened up Salvador and the most especially the Pelourinho. I participated in all aspects of the tour , the buildings, the galleries, the street food , the hustle and bustle of the area. The beautiful , colourful and aromatic streets and most important the hills. Gabriella did her homework and organised the tour that I missed nothing. An exciting and wonderful experience that I will relive for ever. It’s two years since I was there snd I’d go back in a heartbeat.
Our walk through Pelourinho was exceptional. Laura, our guide, is a superstar of the neighborhood: knows half the world, is very well prepared, has a sense of humor, and showed us the less known chants. We always felt super safe and learned a lot about the history of the city. An unforgettable experience.
Gabriela Penetti is an excellent guide and she knew a lot about African culture in Salvador. It was extraordinarily interesting. In addition, Gabriela is very flexible in the tour. If an attraction is known during the tour, then it was no problem for them to show us something new and tell us. Gabriela is very personable and pleasant. Booking Gabriela is highly recommended.
I had a great experience visiting the Pelourinho with Gabriela! She is super friendly, passionate and transmits a wealth of rich and accurate information about Salvador’s history and culture. In addition to being very effective in the visit, she recommended me lots of nice little places to discover in the city. A real pleasure to have him as a guide, I highly recommend!
La hermosa arquitectura colonial portuguesa, la cultura afrobrasileña. Excelente la visita a la iglesia de San Francisco y el Pelhouriño. Excelente Marina, nuestra guía, con la descripción y explicacion de todo el recorrido.
Walking through the pillory and other places with a guide is like going back in time with lots of history and fun. Congratulations to guide Gabriela!
