This nightly experience was awesome! A unique immersion into Brazilian culture through a combination of dance(samba), martial arts(capoeira), & sound(drumming). As part of our week-long vacation in Salvador, my wife and I were elated to have come across the Associação de Capoeira Mestre Bimba school, located in the historic Pelourinho district. We were lucky enough to be in town to take advantage of this advertised cultural event. We arrived at the school a few minutes before the start of the event as requested. We were invited in and ushered to our seats. Once seated the activities started promptly. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming. The different performances were engaging, providing a glimpse into the various cultural aspects of capoeira, drumming, and samba. The event made clear the interconnected nature of these different aspects, demonstrating how each is woven into the next. Towards the end of the event, we were all invited to join in on the experience, including singing and dancing. The night ended with some light refreshments and a lot of laughs. I can't really imagine a better way my wife and I could have wrapped up our vacation. If you're looking for a comprehensive and immersive experience in Brazilian culture, I strongly recommend adding this to your list.

Good to see what Capoeira and drumming is all about. This was followed by samba dancing. What was most lovely was when they involved all of us in the audience.

It was an authentic and engaging experience. Real people showed us what they love to do, their culture. We loved it.

Following a Capoeira class, I attended this cultural night with my partner. It was a great show of Capoeira, with lots of displays, dancing, music & even crowd involvement! We both had an amazing time.

Literally one of the best things I experienced while in Bahia! The instructors Yasmin & ogun made the class fun & interactive! They made you feel at home & easy to learn. Great way to immerse in the culture, I highly recommend them and will definitely be back!

The best experience in Salvador if you want to get in touch with the magic of Afro-Brazilian culture and learn about their ancient roots. The night of capoeira and drums was truly exciting and for me also moving, especially when we were involved in the final dances. I also attended the samba lesson the next day with my partner which was very fun and interesting for me who has been dancing for a few years. We thank the Mestre Bimba Association so much for transmitting all their energy to us.

Capoeira is challenging for sure, yet it’s a great challenge for anyone exploring unique wellness activities!! The session not only covered a lot of capoeira moves that involved many gymnastics and quick thinking, it also covered a lot of historical aspects of capoeira and how the founder of the institute (Mestre Bimba) played a role in capoeira. It’s fun and definitely worth doing, especially in such an iconic and significant location for Salvador!

This enthusiastic and laughing group offers us a capoeiro masterpiece show completed by a shared samba session with percus and songs

A superb experience, between the capoeira class with a passionate and exciting master, then an hour and a half of unforgettable show!

First I did the one-hour capoeira course. It's very physically demanding. I'd rather we spent more time learning and rehearsing basic steps than kicking in intense heat, with the fan off. Perhaps I misunderstood the principle. However the presentation that followed with samba and drums was great. Super nice atmosphere, they involve the few spectators (one 12n at most). It really feels like we're seeing a private event where these Bahian people are showcasing their culture.

A great experience. The authenticity of the program, the stunning atmosphere and the rousing music: 100% recommendation!!! I was skeptical because I had doubted that it is not a tourist event/show but that is true and makes the visit even more valuable and special!!!
