We had an absolutely wonderful full-day trip with Mônia. Amazing sights and so much history to soak up…all with Mônia’s insights and knowledge which added so much to our understanding of this incredible area of the world. Highly recommended!! I also have to add that we booked last minute and the company went over and above to make sure everything was in place for us…including catering for our vegan dietary needs for the lunch stop (which was at an amazing restaurant!).

Though the tour occurred during a busy festival and many venues were closed. Wilson was wonderful at introducing us to the culture and history of the region using his local connections. He was knowledgeable, informed, and a wonderful conversationalist. My partner and I had a lovely time.
Excellent, informative, and fun excursion. Well worth the time and money. Guide Monia was warm and wonderful. We wholeheartedly recommend this tour.
This is a full day tour which takes you to the rural areas that were the former sugar cane plantations outside of Salvador. Ronaldo was our guide and gave a full explanation of the relevance of the area. Particularly interesting was the visit to the local market where we tasted different fruits and vegetables. We happened upon an impromptu capoeira ( African martial arts) in the market which was exciting. The colonial villages are unique and highly colorful in different hues. We went to a small African centered catholic church and museum which reflected the practices of Black female worshipers. We also visited one of the oldest cigar factories, and concluded our visit with a terrific lunch overlooking one of the most scenic river valley. I would highly recommend this tour to explore and understand the rich Black cultural history of Bahia. Be sure to ask for Ronaldo!
This was by far the best tour guide we have had in our travels. Wilson is extremely knowledgeable, patient, understanding and kind. He is high-spirited and certainly brightened up our day. We learned so much! Our driver, Fabio was the perfect compliment! Lunch at Santa Cruz was amazing. Delicious food made with all natural ingredients, a beautiful view and fantastic service. Would definitely recommend this to anyone who is up to have a lovely day and learn interesting historical facts. Not to mention it is very difficult to get a tour in any other language that is not Portuguese, and Wilson speaks English and Spanish perfectly. Thank you guys for an awesome day in Salvador!
This was an exceptional and beautiful tour. Mr. Wilson personally led us through not only Brazil's challenging and wonderful history, but punctuated the event with personal memories and enriching information that breathed life into a complicated time in the country's past.
It was great to out to see the countryside and historic towns of Cachoeira and Santo Amaro. Our guide Misael was very knowledgeable on many topics so we had good conversations. Our driver was excellent too! Lunch at the fazenda, a walk through a market, and the cigar factory visit were highlights.
We had a fantastic day with our guide and driver. It gave us a great feel for the rural area of Bahia, as well as the historical culture of the area
Pickup was 5-10 minutes early. Communication was great. The perfect historical/cultural supplement to a few magical days in Salvador.
I'm really glad I took this day trip from Salvador to the Recôncavo area, which gave our small group (3 people) a rare insight into the history and culture of Brazil, and the conflicted mix of races, religions, classes that still informs its society. Marcos, our brilliant guide, was fluent in English and, since he grew up in the Pelourinho (back when it was not a recommendable place ...) and part of his family is from the Recôncavo, was able to talk from his own experience and offer a wealth of first-hand information that we would otherwise have missed. But this pleasant tour is not "only" about culture and history: just to mention one thing, you can expect a delicious meal in an elegant fazenda overlooking San Féliz and Cachoeira!
Today's tour was simply extraordinary, well beyond our expectations. Our guide, Wilson, did not just show us places, but conveyed a true passion for Candomblé, a unique religion deeply rooted in this region of Brazil. Wilson is an excellent storyteller. He explained with extraordinary clarity how Candomblé was born from the cultural resistance of African slaves during the colonial period. It was fascinating to discover the process of religious syncretism: to survive the impositions and persecutions of the Portuguese colonizers, the slaves had to hide their Orixás (the deities of nature) behind the names and faces of Catholic saints. Thanks to Wilson, we understood the incredible complexity of this cult, the importance of respect for nature, the role of the sacred drums, and the energy that unites the spiritual world with the earthly one. It is not just a religion, but a pillar of the identity, music, gastronomy, and resistance of this land. Wilson's attention to every detail, his sensitivity, and his immense historical and anthropological knowledge made us look at Brazil with completely new eyes. If you want to understand the authentic soul of this region, you absolutely must take this tour with him. Highly recommended!
Incredible and touching experience, passing through historic places and impressive landscapes! Guide Wilson is a charming professional, who provides us with a lot of information, in a light and interesting way. And the driver Fabio was wonderful too, as well as a serious and careful professional. Lunch at the farm is a unique experience, with wonderful food, attentive service and an unparalleled view! Each attraction is worth it and is an unforgettable experience. We highly recommend this tour!
Excellent driver and guide, Fabio and Wilson Badaró, respectively. Experienced professionals demonstrate great command of the socio-cultural context of Recôncavo Baiano.
Great. Great guide. Knowledgeable about the region and Bahian culture. Professional driver and comfortable car. Tasty lunch with welcoming people.
We had a wonderful day. In addition to visiting Santo Amaro, the cradle of Caetano Veloso and Maria Bethânia, we also visited the interesting places in Cachoeira as the remnants of the colonial period, the museum and the tobacco factory and others. And as the guide knows well the surroundings and history, we could know various things. The lunch was very delicious in an idyllic restaurant that was once a farm. This walk has become a wonderful memory. Thank you very much.
