Guides super kind and welcoming. It is truly 2 different tours in 2 days with different groups, but each one is worth it and the best way to see a lot in little time. The sites are wonderful, pics don't do them justice. Staying overnight in Purmamarca made a huge difference. There are several good options to stay at, and then you simply coordinate via WhatsApp to get picked up with the next tour the following morning at the bus station. You then get to spend more time in this magical time, instead of rushing back and forth. Do the local trek, have a couple of nice meals accompanied by live music. Sleep in, enjoy the views at different times of day, with different light, which makes a difference. And be back in salta day 2 in the evening.

Itinerary
Day 1
1
We will start the service with the search of the passengers for their Accommodations or Hotels between 7:00 & 7:45 am. It is important to know that the search for accommodation will be carried out within a radius of 20 blocks around the Main Square of the City of Salta "9 de Julio".
The First Stop on Day 1 is in the town of Purmamarca (Jujuy), where we will stop at a Mirador del Cerro de 7 Colores located at the entrance of the town.
Having made the technical stop at the Mirador del Cerro de 7 Colores in Purmamarca, we will continue on Route 52 and begin the ascent through the incredible Cuesta de Lipan, whose highest point reaches 4720 meters above sea level. During this section we will make some stops to appreciate the majestic view of the landscape and take pictures.
Here passengers can visit the beautiful Salinas Grandes. Currently, in order to visit the Salar, passengers must pay a small contribution to an aboriginal community settled in the place. There is also the possibility of visiting the 'Piletones' and the 'Ojo de Mar' located 3 km within the Salinas Grandes. In case of making this optional visit, a contribution must also be paid to the aboriginal community. It is important to know that in order to visit the Piletones and the Ojo de Mar, all passengers in the group must agree.
After visiting the Salinas Grandes we will return to the town of Purmamarca where passengers will have 1 hour free time to visit the town of Purmamarca, as well as 1 hour free for lunch.
In this case, the passengers together with the guide will approach the main entrance of the Paseo de los Colorados, located at the back of the Cerro de los 7 Colores.
At this point, being in the town of Purmamarca, passengers will have the opportunity to visit the Cerro de 7 Colores. They could even ascend to the Mirador del Cerro located within the town of Purmamarca.
Having finished the schedule of Lunch and Visit to the Town of Purmamarca, around 4:30 p.m. the passengers will be released until the morning of the next day.
Day 2
2
Free Time for Lunch - Visit for the Town
On the morning of the second day, we will pick up the passengers in the town of Purmamarca between 10:30 and 11:30 am to continue the tour.
Near lunch time we will arrive at the Town of Humahuaca, where passengers will have 1 hour free to tour the Town of Humahuaca, as well as 1 hour free for lunch.
After lunch we will leave the Town of Humahuaca bound for the Town of Tilcara, where we will visit the Main Square of the Town and its surroundings by vehicle.
On the way back we will make a stop on the route at a viewpoint of the Cerro 'Paleta del Pintor', Cerro Multicolor located in the town of Maimara.
Another of the stops on the tour is a visit to the Church of Uquia, inside which are the beautiful paintings of 'Los Angeles Arcabuceros'. It is important to know that the visit to this Church depends on whether it is open or not.
Once the tour of the Quebrada de Humahuaca is finished, we will start our way back to the City of Salta, arriving at approximately 8:30 p.m.

The tour was great! tour guides were knowledgeable and they gave us enough time during stops to enjoy the landscapes 😊 they also took pics for us. I recommend Tiamar for tours! I minus one star because they switched the day itinerary and didn’t let us know in advance
Very informative tours. Friendly bus driver guides, Great landscapes. unfortunately the driving was risky. With this company, the tour guide and bus driver are one and the same person to save costs. Apparently they have to complete the tours in far too short a time. This means that the bus driver tour guides become fast drivers here. On this "first tour to Jujui" cars were often heroically overtaken. In the mountains, serpentines are approached quickly without first reducing the speed. At times my wife and I felt quite uncomfortable during the journey.
Day1 was great and the guide was informing and good at English. Day2 the guide spoke bad English & we had to pay 15000 extra
A long day but well worth it as the Salinas Grandes is unbelievable and the journey to and from Salta is amazing with all the beautiful scenery and the winding route through the hills. The town of Purmamarca is a nice market town full of bargains and delicious food, so overall a brilliant day and I would highly recommend it.
Salinas grandes for the pics of course. But the best was staying overnight and going to a bar which has a really vibrant music scene. All sorts for all tastes.
First of all: Our tour guide, Monserrat, was great! Super friendly, spoke very good English, was knowledgeable and had a very positive energy about her! So, the rest of the review is not linked to her performance. A few things you should know when considering this tour: - This is in fact not a 2 days trip but two different tours on two consecutive days. That means you will travel with two groups and potentially even two guides. It also took some coordination effort to organize our pickup in Purmamarca on the second day (but the operators speak English and can be contacted through WhatsApp, so it all worked out in the end). - This trip has close to no physical activity. That means you will sit for hours and hours on a bus, get off every now and then to click a few pictures, then get on again. The only longer stops are in villages to get something to eat, the salt mines in the first day and at a pottery workshop on the second day. - What we learned during our stay in Argentina: Most probably you will get the same tour much cheaper when booking locally (eg through your hostel) than booking through a platform like this. This is simply an effect of different exchange rates but over the course of the trip this can sum up to several hundred dollars. - While you will find bathrooms throughout this trip (and the guide helps with always announcing the next bathroom options) please bote that there often not in good condition. Toilet paper and soap are not a given. So, if you go make sure to carry some paper and some disinfectant with you. Now for the trip as such: What is truly stunning are the views you will have on this tour pretty much from the second you enter into Jujuy. That alone is worth a trip from Salta up north. The mountain of seven colors is great but does not look as nice in really life as in some pictures you might find online. However, you will see these different colorings throughout the trip so the overall phenomenon is impressive. The salt mines are primarily great for pictures. Make sure to take sunglasses, otherwise you will be pretty much bkinded there. The appeal of Purmamarca was only revealed to us at night (and thereby not as part of the organized trip) when we discovered the surprising and amazing live music scene this village has to offer. On the next day the pottery workshop (tour only in Spanish unfortunately, but our guide gave us the most important information upfront) and the stop at the tropic of Capricorn felt to us a bit like filling activities and in the first case a chance to buy souvenirs. Humahuaca was to us quite frankly a bit underwhelming (again, guides tour only in Spanish). There ia a restaurant organized there with cheap food and a very authentic experience, a band came and played a few songs, the other guests enthusiastically sang along. If you consider going to that restaurant: Unfortunately, the place served dirty plates (and we are not talking about water stains, these plates were seriously dirty) and both in the salad and in the empanadas were sand. The next village, Tilcara, we liked much better, it also seemed to be in better shape. Unfortunately, we only got 30 minutes there. If you are looking for a proper and fully functioning bathroom, this is the place (eg cafe A La Payla). We did not cover the church of Uquia even though it was part of the description. So, can we recommend it? Not in this 2 day setup. The second day was not too interesting for us and in hindsight we probably would have found something more relevant for our taste. What we can recommend is doing just the first day and either coming back to Salta in the evening or (if you have the slightest interest in live music) staying the night in Purmamarca and then coming straight back the next morning.
excellent expérience with our guide Cristina, for a small 300pesos per person we were able to drive on the salt lake. An amazing experience
Not a all a 2-day tour! The guides were nice, Eduardo especially, but once the tour started I understood that I was « grafted » on one tour and another ont the next day! Hence a lot of time wasted. By the time I was picked up by the second tour they’d seen the colored mountain :(
I had a really good time on this tour. I had two different guides Maru and Edu, both did a great job. We got a lot of information about the landscape, and the people living in the certain areas.. some anecdotes and enough time to rest in between. I didn't join the lunch in Purmamarca, instead I walked around the hill of seven colours. Make sure to put enough sunscreen on!!! I stayed in Tilcara for two nights and joined the agency only two days later. I can totally recommend doing this. As you have less time on the road.. I did a little hike to Gargante de Diablo and could spend the rest of the day at the pool. So it was a very relaxing experience in total and I was blown away by the beauty of the landscape and the friendliness of the people in the area. Thank you tiamar travel and Maru and Edu for everything! Lisa
Would not book again - poor service and poor traveling conditions if given the rear seats to travel.
Staying overnight at Purmamarca was amazing. Really great stop at ancient settlement at Tilcara. The guide was very knowledgable and fluent in many languages.
The two days tour to Salinas Grandes and Humahuaca implies traveling the same long road (500 km) twice in two days, without chance of visiting the city of Jujuy as we expected. Seems badly conceived, at least for senior citizens. The tour operator never explained us the details of our tour until last minute and finally refused to make any changes on the schedule. We requested a change for the second day, but they never offered any alternative, insisting that we should do the tour as it was agreed. We rate this experience as quite unsatisfactory.
Overall this tour gave us a good understanding of the area however it was somewhat dampened by the lack of English translation and a grumpy guide on the first day. The tour guide that we had on the first day, Walter, was dismissive and would give lots of commentary and information in Spanish but omitted lots of information when translating to English. The restaurant that we were taken to for lunch on this day was very overpriced and clearly a tourist trap. The tour guide on the second day was thorough and approachable and we enjoyed this day much more. The ruins at Tilcara we’re a highlight along with the brief stop at the Salinas Grandes.
First day tour was nice. The guide was driving very well, offering descriptions in both languages: English and Spanish. His level of English is very good. I believe the minivan isn’t appropriate to go through those tough roads to reach the Salinas , as it doesn’t have good suspension, making the drive extremely bumpy noisy and tiring. The second day I was picked up with 1h delay. I mean , it’s ok but if you tell me I’ll be picked up at one time , I’ll plan my day accordingly and I won’t waste time waiting , doing nothing. The driver doesn’t speak good English. His body language, while driving , makes the drive very insecure and unstable. Myself , as a non Spanish speaker , I understood better when he spoke Spanish than when he spoke English. The stop in Humauaca , of almost 2h, is far too long, as the place doesn’t really offer much sightseeing. Please consider rearranging the tour and it’s duration. And also address the driver to keep his hands on the steering wheel at all time instead of always gesticulating.
Great time, great guides, beautiful country! Thanks again for a wonderful time! Tiamar Tour Company is well organized.
The tour is well-thought and allows you to visit all key places in a short time. The guides were very nice, helpful and interesting. The buses were comfortable.
One day before I had to send a message to all the communications channels of Tiamar Travel Salta to know the transfer time to Salinas Grandes. Guide and driver very cordial and attentive. Very detailed guide and with very important guidelines for the well-being of passengers on altitude, sun protection, hydration, etc. We stayed one night in Purmamarca and it was very worth it! It is an amazing place and saves many Kms transportation not back to Salta for the next day to follow further. However, again this day I was begging again to know the time of the transfer the next day. The voucher was written between 10:30 and 11:00, but the attendant assured me it would be between 9:00 and 10:00 (confirmed 2 times) at the Purmamarca bus terminal. We went to the terminal at this time and guess: we received a message from a guide from a company called La Quebrada that would arrive after 10h45 (in the end arrived 11h30). This guide was communicating us in real time where they were and was extremely helpful with us, quite interested in making us comfortable in the van, etc (that make it clear we have nothing to complain about her and driver). In summary: we stayed from 9h to 11h30 at the bus station for an information that we already knew was wrong (never a van leaving Salta would arrive at 9h). Contracted tour - Purmamarca - Humahuaca - Tilcara - Uquia. We did not have Uquia and returned to Purmamarca and once again we stayed there waiting for the other passengers to know the city. We returned 22h to Salta and lost the Peña that had scheduled. I mean, obviously we were thrown in some van from another company that went ahead that day. I sent a message again to Tiamar Travel Salta and I was simply ignored until today.
One of the most impressive places I've ever known.Sit in the Providence of Jujuy in northern Argentina. The average altitude is about 4000m. It's an immense white salt desert, formed millions of years ago when an ancient saline lagoon evaporated, leaving a layer of salt in the soil. Wear plenty of sunscreen, glasses and a hoodie. There are photographers on site who take photos with a fun perspective.
Day 1: The first day we were at the Salinas Grandes. Instead of the described 60 minutes we had only 40 minutes. Admission had to be paid in cash – no chance without cash. In addition, we were advised that a rare phenomenon appeared on the salt flat directly next to the closed area: The sky reflected perfectly in the water on the salt. Nevertheless, we were forbidden to take a picture there or stop the van briefly so that everyone could take a picture briefly. Day 2: On the second day, the tour was almost two hours late. In Purmamarca we were dropped off again for 45 minutes, although we were already long enough there the day before or some had stayed there. It turned out that the tour was actually divided into two parts: A part went to Hornocal – I would have loved to do that, but I was neither shown this option nor asked. The rest of us then had to wait 1.5 hours in the small town of Humahuaca, where there is nothing special to see. At least we could have been explained or shown something, instead we were just dropped off and left to our own devices. The second day of the tour can therefore be saved. The guides were nice, but overall both tours seemed loveless
Salinas is u. Unbelievable place, Purmamarca also unfortunately the tour in two days are handled by different agencies the guide of the day 1 did not answer my questions, nor was he aware of my departure the next day from Purmamarca. TIAMOR agency does not respond in a timely manner. On the day of the departure from Purmamarca they did not communicate early to inform me of the departure time , they called me about the weather and I was not ready and due to the lack of prior information I decided not to do the second day and stay in Purmamarca. The agency did not reimburse me and it was very unpleasant when I told them about my inconveniences. Unfortunate because the places are beautiful. The truth between agencies is derived passengers and it is difficult to obtain prior information. I do not advise taking the two-day tour. I advise to get to Purmamarca and from there hire the salt pans. It's better to go straight through the agencies, I really liked Nordic. DO NOT HIRE WITH TIAMOR are unpleasant and do not give information Advice to contract with agencies directly and not go through platforms like this that are not agencies directly. I knew my agency was TIAMOR (lousy, not responding in a timely manner) and the guide who contacted me was contracted to another agency ZAINO. So there is a lot of uncoordination because the passengers are exchanged and the guides are lost. She didn't have my information on her spreadsheet.
Purmamarca pueblo bellissimo in un contesto fantastico, montagne dai colori incredibili. Con una bella escursione facile da fare
Beautiful landscapes! It was very windy in July, so you should dress warmly. Maybe the enjoyment is priceless, you have to be encouraged.
You have to know that the tour is actually two day tours, so the planning was a disaster. Our guide on the first day didn't know that our tour was two days and had to clarify that first. We also did the tour the wrong way round and didn't get to Purmamarca until 6pm on the first day and didn't have enough time to see everything there. We then stayed far too long on the second day. Our guides on both days were great, and it's only because of them that we get 3 stars. Otherwise, the organization of the tour for 2 days was just a disaster
Very nice 2-day tour with very good guides on each of the two days. (The tour is a combination of 2 tours and each day with other people) Staying in Purmamarca for the night was an excellent decision.
This is a tour that does not actually exist: it is a combination of 2 tours, the one to Salina and Purmamarca on the one hand and the one to Humahuaca and Tilcara on the other, only without returning to Salta at night. I definitely recommend it!! Because you save about 4 hours of round trip travel that you can make better use of, and because spending the night in Purmamarca is a beautiful experience. That said, the fact that the tour itself does not exist generates a series of confusions for the agency!! Like when you arrive in Purmamarca on the first day your guide finds out that you are staying... like on the second day they pick you up at the hotel in Salta (??) and since they can't find you they call you at 7 a.m. Anyway... those things. Even so, I still recommend it! And when I searched, I couldn't find another tour that did something similar. 2 negative notes: 1. It is a lie that in Purmamarca they take you and look for you at the hotel, you have to go there yourself, and since the town is in the mountains if you do not have good mobility and you carry bags it can be complicated; 2. In Tilcara they leave you far from Pucará, and with very little time to go, tour and return. A shame. If you are going to want to see the Hornocal in Humahuaca you have to organize it beforehand! I don't know how, but when we arrived the guide clearly separated those who went up from those who didn't. The guides and the driver were all very good, and the nature was unbeatable!! Beautiful, abundant and generous. The photos do not show the immensity of the landscapes and the variety of colors!
Dreamlike - if you haven't visited a salt desert yet, you should do this here. You can drive in with your own car with a guide (bookable locally).
Excellent organization took everything into account! There was a demonstration on the route and they organized everything to make excursions possible. Thank you for your company very good Service, the tour guide and the driver very good vibe. We'll be back.
Special experience if you want to see something different in Salta and surroundings than all those beautifully colored mountains. We drove there from Purmamarca via a beautifully paved road and beautiful route. Beautiful, wide and the pictures say enough and is exactly as it is.
Très belle excursion. Un conseil : il vaut mieux dormir sur place à purmamarca le 1er soir, pour éviter de redescendre sur Salta (2h30) de bus, idem le lendemain matin, puisqu'on vient vous récupérer de toute façon à purmamarca
This is my third time going to the North, this time I went by mic with a tour. I will give you some details that we found very good and that allowed us to make the most of our trip. We decided to go on tour at this time to not drive so much back and forth and because it was the cheapest option as it included some excursions and half board at the hotel. On the days that we had off and that the Enterprise offered excursions as an option we decided not to take them and rent a car so that we could tour on our own and at our own pace. This was the best decision as we could appreciate the landscape better, stopping where we wanted and delaying in each place as long as we needed and also the rent plus the fuel and optional insurance that we hired expanding the one that already included the traditional rental we got less than if we paid the Tourism Enterprise for optional excursions; and we were only two people, if you rent between 4 or 5 it is very cheap. Another tip that I will give you is that when you go to salt flats there are two stops where you can choose to see the pylons, do not stop in the first go until the second that in addition to having a nice dining room if you want to have a drink or eat something and good bathrooms the guides of the second place only charge $300 per person to enter and explain the whole process of how they extract salt and take some great trick photos, being that in the first stop they charge $1500 and have to enter with their vehicles when in the second stop are the pylons only a few meters from the entrance and goes on foot. in Purmamarca I recommend going to eat at "los Alamos restaurant" belgrano corner freedom, and order the knife-cut meat patties and lamb casserole, the best dish I ate in the whole north. When you visit Tilcara I recommend you go for a drink at a terrace bar around the Tilcara sign where people take pictures. Not only are they well priced, but from the terrace you have a panoramic view of the priceless mountains. Finally I recommend you to make a day the road by car to San Antonio de los coppers, it is very beautiful, you will follow the route of the train to the clouds all the time and when you reach San Antonio de los coppers you can take the road of ripio that is 13 km and is very walkable until you reach the viaduct the powder house where you will see the majestic work of the bridge of the train to the clouds.
Great experience and highly recommended with the overnight option. There is a lot to see and you don't have so much time to enjoy everything with the longer journey. During the journey you learn a lot about the landscape, nature, history, but in my opinion you can only really enjoy it when you stay in Purmamarca. In the evening I did a little hike through the beautiful landscape. Since some mountains have the colors in the morning and others only in the evening you also have more of them if you can observe the mountains in the evening as well as in the morning. Thanks to the organizers!
Gita di due giorni per combinare due escursioni ugualmente distanti da Salta. Si vede tutto con calma e si ottimizzano i tempi con un semplice pernottamento a Purmamarca. Entrambe le guide molto preparate sia in inglese che in spagnolo.
Purmamarca is a dream town with the hill 7 colors next to you, you can walk around the hill that is unmissable. The salt flats is a place that you have to know if or if .
The landscape is magical and indiscribable. What they should recommend is to wear high protector to protect you if you are going to have a good time there.
Excellent attention from the Enterprise. We were advised by Laura, a genius!!! Our guide Jaime, the truth highly recommended, not only for what you know but for your human quality. We will come back for more adventures!!! Thanks!
Salinas, it's worth meeting, it's great. I live in Argentina, I received the receipt in dollars, which meant a 30% surcharge. When I bought it I saw the prices in pesos and it said that I will see the payment detail with that amount, but I was charged in dollars, I will not use this Service again because it was not clear about it. Greetings
Getting to the salt flats is one of the best things I did, because the slope of the Lipan is unique (must-do road from Purmamarca). The route is perfect, the views are breathtaking, the salt flats are something magical, step on the hard salt, touch with your hand and feel the salt. Don't forget sunglasses because the reflection burns. There are some stalls where you can buy tortillas or drinks, and crafts obviously. Keep in mind that the trip lasts just over 1 hour, unless they don't stop once to take pictures... unlikely. To see the pylons you have to pay because you are driving with a local guide, we did not do it and I do not know if it is necessary, and when you walk you see holes with the water underneath.... It's up to everyone.
The route is very good, from Purmamarca is 1 hour approximately. You get a lot higher reaching the point of 4200 typical of photos and then going down 3400. Whereupon I think one can aim. Visiting with a community guide is paid for by car and is NOT expensive. They explain how they were formed, how they are exploited and also take the typical photos.
The route from PURMAMARCA TO SALINAS is dazzling !!!! 4170 MTS high but in very good condition the road between mountains .- iNDESCRIPTIBLE BEAUTY.- you have to be there to interpret the ones that look at your eyes- SALINAS IMPERDIBLE.- it is worth paying 300 PESOS per car to access the pylons and water eye- The guides are great.- they take the photos you want after providing your knowledge-
