To the west of Salta, in the heart of the Valles Calchaquíes and surrounded by hills and mountains, lies the charming village of Cachi, picturesque and traditional, on the banks of the Calchaquí River. The village is framed by the hill of the same name. Starting from Cerrillos, you will drive through El Carril, Pulares, and the Quebrada de Escoipe, before ascending the winding Cuesta del Obispo (Bishop’s Hill). Along the way, visit Los Cardones National Park and Peyogasta, arriving finally at Cachi. Cachi preserves a magical atmosphere where colonial architecture blends with the legacy of the Diaguita Indians and Inca culture. Upon arrival, explore the Archaeological Museum, featuring craftwork by the Pulares people. Opposite the main square, visit San José Church, built in the Old Town and declared a National Historical Monument, as one of the region’s most representative churches.
