We had an unforgettable experience with our guide Eugenia during our visit to the Tastil Ruins and Torro Lake. Her friendly demeanor and extensive knowledge of the area's history and wildlife truly enhanced our trip. Eugenia skillfully navigated the challenging terrain, ensuring our safety and comfort throughout the journey. Flamingo watching at Torro Lake was a highlight, thanks to her expert guidance. Highly recommended!

Start your 11-hour tour with pickup at your Salta hotel.
Board a 4WD vehicle and make the journey to the Andes Mountains following Bull Gorge via the first section of the Train to the Clouds heritage railway route.
You’ll visit the archaeological ruins of Santa Rosa de Tastil village with your guide. See the 15th-century citadel, pens, and terraces of this National Historic Monument and visit the museum.
Then continue on to Laguna del Toro (Bull Lagoon) while taking in the natural beauty of the area. On arrival, observe rare Andean flamingos, the only flamingo with yellow legs and three-toed feet. Your guide points out Andean ducks and many other bird species while you enjoy a boxed picnic lunch in this scenic region.
Hopping back aboard your 4WD in the afternoon, you’re returned to Salta and dropped off at your hotel.

Reviews
Our guide Javier was fantastic with a pretty encyclopaedic knowledge and happy to answer any questions. Wonderful views of flamingoes on the lagoons as well as many other species. The pre-Incan ruins in Tastil were a lovely diversion on the way out also. An absolutely wonderful day. Did have some slight communication problems with tangol prior to the tour so recommend confirming everything a day or two in advance.
