Fantastic experience with so many highlights but the most impressive thing about the day was the unbelievable guide “Fabio”. Made the day so much fun and for me being Australian his English translations were great.

We will leave from the city of Salta, leaving through the central access of the city, taking the RN 9 and then entering the municipality of General Güemes, through the RN 34. Later we enter the province of Jujuy, where we will have the opportunity to know a little piece of the Quebrada de Humahuaca, passing through picturesque towns such as Yala, Volcán (technical stop) and Purmamarca where we will find the majestic Cerro de los 7 Colores
We make a small technical stop so that passengers can go to the bathroom or buy some type of snack.
First stop in the town of Purmamarca to have a panoramic photo from the route, in front of the town, since the position of the sun in the morning radically changes its colors. In this first stop we will be approximately 20 minutes.
We enter the incredible Cuesta de Lipán, where we will take 4,170 meters above sea level and we will be able to appreciate its spectacular flora and fauna. It is a winding high mountain road, majestic with its green and brown colors showing us the beautiful landscapes of the puna.
We arrive at the third largest salt flat in Latin America where we will be between 45 minutes to 1 hour free, to be able to tour the salt pools, sculptures, salt restaurant and take incredible photos in this huge salt flat in northern Argentina.
We return to Purmamarca and they will be able to enjoy 2 free hours to tour the beautiful town and have lunch. Imposing hill of 7 colors nestled in the heart of town with its narrow, cobbled streets and adobe and mud houses.
We return to the city of Salta crossing the last of the Quebrada de Humahuaca and its landscapes. We have technical stops along the way in case you want to go to the bathroom, buy something to eat or drink.

Wonderful experience made all the more enjoyable by our wonderful guide Fabio. Celina Grande is well worth the trip an amazing place really enjoyed the photographers there who took some really cool photos for us. Purmamarca was a very vibrant town full of character and of course shopping opportunities. We taught the high altitude might move challenging but that didn’t proved to be the case. Overall, a fabulous day and a huge thanks to Fabio for ensuring that we have the best of days
We did the Salinas Grandes tour in november and it was great ! Of course the landscape is breathtaking with multi-coloured mountains and the Salinas Grandes are... Grandes indeed ! Quite impressive. Our guide/driver was Fabio and he was also Grandes. He is full of energy, friendly, speaks very good English and very knowledgeable about the area, its history and current developments. I highly recommend this tour !
The van showed up on time. Cesar, the tour guide was very courteous and had a good command of English language. Alfred, the bus driver too was very professional, making sure everyone onboard was comfortable during our 12 hours ride.
Absolutely incredible! Our guide, Fabio, was extremely attentive, knowledgeable, fun, and caring. Highly recommend Fabio for any group or individual tours- you will not regret it!
There was a lot if wind from Purmamarca to Salinas Grandes, abd it was risky so to get there, but the guide wanted to bring us there anyway. It was also not well specified in the activity description here on Viator that getting Salinas Grandes means reach more than 4100 meters above sea level, and this can cause some altitude sickness. The guide didn’t assist too much in this sense, only repeating to get some coca leaves (which are not scientifically proved to have sone effect), and not giving any advice on what to eat to prevent altitude sickness. Moreover the trip by minivan was not too comfortable for a long journey like this. Not very recommended in our opinion.
Great tour but be warned it is a long day. Route up the mountains beautiful and salt flats stunning. Lovely little village to call into for souvenirs and nice restaurants in village centre. It’s a long day but worth doing
The guide was wonderful we had an amazing day! The town was so charming I would try to sit in the front to get a better view and motion sickness as you are going through the mountains.
What a beautiful experience, English guided. Ximena was very knowledgeable and friendly and ensured we making the most of the tour.
Guide was good, but he doesn’t speak english, I requested english speaking guide. Sitting in 17 people, all are gossiping laughing and enjoying, I am sitting like dumb and deaf, felt very odd.
Take some Dramamine if you get motion sickness! The drive can be a little intense- round and round the mountain.
Rafael was an excellent and entertaining guide who spoke great English meaning we felt we had the same experience as the Spanish speakers on the bus. It’s a long way to Salinas Grandes and it was a long day but the scenery is breathtaking and totally worth the journey. There were some issues with the bus, (hence the four stars) but we managed to see everything as planned and really enjoyed the day.
Leonardo was knowledgable, informative and humerous. He paid attention and took care of each and every passenger.
From rackety old van with no seats belts to a guide that spoke very little (and bad) English - this is a tour company to avoid. This was sold as an English speaking tour which it definitely wasn’t. Over 13 hours - avoid. I’m sure there is better out there!
Terrible experience with poor transportation: no seat belts, cracked taped up window, stained seats and deficient suspension system. This tour is sold as an English tour - it isn’t - it’s a Spanish tour with a guide that has very limited English (by his own admission) who “translated” the important part in impossible to understand language. We paid the same price as the Spanish speaking guests on this tour yet received a much inferior service. It is a 13 hours day - made way to long by a 2 hour stop (read 2 hour shopping stop around the small central square). 1 hour would have been enough. Would absolutely not recommend this tour company.
Sounded like a good way to visit Salinas Grandes and Purmurmaca, but ended up being little more than a coach trip rather than a guided tour. Our guide provided very little relevant information and it was difficult to understand what he was saying. There was no information given about the salt plains. The lunch buffet (not included in the price) was good at about $15 each. Note: entrance to Salinas Grandes is not included, and costs ARS 2000 (cash only). Probably cheaper than a taxi, but that's as good as it gets.
Amazing views and the guide and group were great vibes. This company is also very accommodating, allowing me to reschedule my reservation at the last second as I came down with some kind of bug. If I come back to Salta, I’ll definitely check out their other tours!
It was a good way to see the landscapes surrounding Salta, but we had a few issues with the company. 1 - English/Spanish Booking: I followed up the day before to make sure everything was okay for our collection in the morning. It wasn't until very late in the afternoon that they told me they couldn't offer the tour in English (the guide was on vacation), even though I had booked the tour a week prior. Why didn't they tell me upon booking? We ended up going with the Spanish tour, which was okay but we missed out on a lot of info. I felt like they had taken advantage of us by telling us last minute, and only when WE followed up. 2 - Communication: When I followed up they confirmed a 7am collection, so we went to bed early. When I woke up I found messages from the tour guide wanting to pick us up at 6.40am. We had basically just woken up and had to rush out the door. Why did the office tell me the wrong time? 3 - Rushed: Whilst the tour was a great way to see landscapes, it was a LOT of driving and we only stopped for 5 minutes (at best) at the stops that said it was a 20 minute stop. It felt very rushed. 4 - Vehicle: For such a lot of driving we were all crammed into a vehicle with narrow seats. It was very uncomfortable. I would recommend skipping this one and heading down to Cafayate instead.
Thanks to Gustavo for driving all day safely and Santiago who gave us Spanish and English tour guide. I joined as solo traveler but they are welcoming and always make sure I am having fun.
Actually we ended up not going on the tour…. When you are a foreign visitor from Europe, the jet lag might still be in your bones, as it was for us…. When I booked the tour I was told we would be contacted 24h in advance about pickup times. Unfortunate that wasn’t the case and we waited and waited and waited…. By about 8pm we were so tired that we decided to just cancel the tour, since we still hadn’t heard. About 30-40minutes later we were contacted about pickup times, but were almost asleep by then. It might not be such a biggie, but I have come to understand that timing or promised timelines are not the same they are in Europe. But I also think that if you sell something to international customers you have to somehow factor that in. Anyway, im sure it a great tour, but we ended up staying in salta and didn’t regret it.
The tour was very nice. The way is a bit long, but worth it. The salt flat is a unique landscape which worth the way unless you plan bolivia's salar as well. The 7 color mountain is also beatiful, although colorful mountains you see on other tours as well. Ximena the guide was really cute, full of knowledge, and brought for us some natural stuff to try for the very high altitude ( coca leaves, pulsa and more)
The views are great, the weather is nice, in overall the for what you pay is great. People were friendly
We had booked a tour in English, but upon pickup, it became clear that the tour was going to be conducted entirely in Spanish, and we did not understand any of the information given by the guide during the day. The tour company did not communicate the itinerary or any information about the tour prior to the day. They also provided conflicting information about the pickup time, with one message saying 6:30 and another saying between 7 and 7:45. We were ultimately picked up just after 7, but with poor communication about when the driver was arriving. This tour also involved far more driving time than was advertised, with almost 8 hours of driving and only about 3.5 hours of actual tour time, and the first stop for coffee was almost 3 hours into the day. The conditions were also challenging with steep altitude and extreme winds, which we were not well-prepared for given the lack of communication ahead of the tour.
Very long day. It was great to see the salt flats and the scenery, but be aware you will spend a huge amount of time on the bus. Was also disappointed that the guide spoke very little English despite me requesting English when booking. No information was given about timings. Didn’t stop for lunch until around 3pm. All in all really disappointing compared to other tours I’ve done.
The views and experience was stunning! There was alot to see throughout this trip. Raul the guide was so nice, kind, and friendly. He gave great advice about to how cope with the altitude during this trip. If you go and you've never gone to places with high altitude, you must research ahead of time before you go and be prepared. It was amazing to see how different the culture is in the north compared to the capitol of Argentina. I would highly recommend this trip!
The tour was on time. Tour guide was very helpful. We visited three beautiful cities. Friendly people and great experience
Great day out! Enjoyed the both our time in Purmamarca (7 colours hill) and on the Salt flat. Well organised tour with a great guide covering all the main points and answering questions. Driver safely covered the various road conditions!
Purmamarca, Salinas Grande, and the drive up into the mountains were fantastic. It was a very long day (longer than mentioned). Be prepared for that! Our guide, Leo, did a wonderful job explaining the area and what we were seeing along the way in both English and in Spanish for our group. Definitely worth the visit.
it’s was a good experience. Salinas Grandes and Pumamarca really worth a visit. The tour runs without any issues. The time that we spent in Salinas was quite good, enough to know the place and take fun pics. But the experience in Purmamarca definitely was a down point. The plan was stay there for 2h and the practice was 1h30, that wasn’t enough to eat and get around the city (that is small). In addition, the guide strongly recommended us a restaurant (Peña Marito) which has a very slow service and lack of options. We ordered a portion of baked potato with cheese that spent almost 40min to be delivered. If you book this tour, we recommend look for a quick snack available in the streets of Purmamarca and prioritize your time exploring the beautiful corners of this village.
I enjoyed the site scene very much. The van had some technical problems during the trip, but the tour guide managed to keep everyone happy.
Amazing scenery - a must-not-miss experience while in Salta. Leonardo was great - big personality, lots of fun, and knowledgeable about the area. The tour takes you up really high so beware - one of our cohort experienced altitude sickness. Most of us chewed coca leaves before ascending, which seemed to help (the guy who got sick did not….). Absolutely stunning scenery, not just the salt flats but the mountains as well. Highly recommend
We really enjoyed this day trip - pick up was punctual, our group size was under 15 people, and we had a bilingual guide in English and Spanish. Great value for money if you don’t have a lot of time in Salta and want to experience Purmamarca and Salinas Grandes with convenience.
Fabulous day out. Second trip we booked with this company and everything was perfect. The views are incredible. Brilliant guide and driver. Incredible value for money with breathtaking scenery. Long day but over so quick as enjoyed every moment.
Fantastic tour. Our guide was wonderful very helpful and spoke perfect English. Bus was very comfortable. Excellent organization from Quebrada.wonderful sights the Salinas was amazing Highly recommend
Unfortunately this was one of my poorest experiences with excursions booked with TripAdvisor. The tour itself was great, landscape beautiful. However, the bus was super dirty and old, the microphone used by the guide was a disaster in terms of sound quality and the guide himself rather demotivated compared to all the other guides I have experienced so far.
They were on time and the bus was OK but the whole day was spent driving for really very litle reward. If you are English speaking you should not expect much, even though they market it as a tour with an English speaking guide. He speaks Spanish to all the other Spanish speaking people on the bus and then as a afterthought he gives you a quick and non interesting piece of information. If you have lots of time in Salta to waste go on this tour. If not rather spend the time in town visiting all the good museums that have most of their info also in English and it will be much more interesting.
The tourguide told us a lot about the history, about the region and everything that came around. He cared a lot about his passengers. He talked through a microphone, so everybody was supposed to hear him.
This is a long day trip, but it was definitely worth it in terms of ground covered and sights seen. The countryside is beautiful. Las Salinas alone make the trip worth the time.
We really appreciated our experience. Everything was perfect. It is a long day but so much fun. Beautiful road with incredible views of the mountains. Salinas is unique and fun to take some pictures there. Guillermo was so gentle and explain everything so great, an amazing guide! Love it 🩵🤍🩵
Claudio was such a fun tour guide, and I felt incredibly safe and welcomed by the group on my first solo tour! Made new friends and saw beautiful sites that were honestly my favorite places from a whole month traveling across Argentina.
Itinerary for this trip was amazing. However, we had a very poor experience with the English guide and the driver. We had the same driver and a guide the day before when we took a trip to Cafayata, and we were hoping to have a different one for this trip, but unfortunately the same driver and the guide (named Solidad) showed up again. The guide's english skills were so poor that we could not understand 90% of what she was saying. She was mixing Spanish and English words, and pronouncing the english words so badly, so we had to guess what she was saying. On the other hand, driver was driving recklessly and dangerously. He hit another car on our trip to Cafayata, and we had to wait 45 min for the police. On the way to Salinas Grandes the second day, he was passing other cars just before the curve when he could not see if the other car is coming from the other direction, so at one point we had almost had a head on collision. He had to move all the way to the left side of the road to avoid the collision. Very scary experience. Dangerous driving. I am sure that if we had other driver and the guide, the trip would have been an amazing experience.
Reul is good and helpful guide. We are not a Spanish speaking. He will help us with the Spanish menu with the ordering. It is fun and good tour. Recommend!
A bit chaotic but relatively knowledgeable guide. Make sure to bring shades, salt is very reflective!
It was great, our highlight was Salina’s Grandes. One big note is that when you read the “What’s included section in TripAdvisor “ it states, it includes Salina’s Grandes entrance fee. I had to pay 3,000 ARS for 2 people. I asked the tour guide Lucas and he couldn’t give me a straight answer. So before making the decision for this tour verify this inconvenience.
Excellent excursion..the trip to the salt flats was beautiful. Divine landscapes The driver/guide Hernan was excellent.
This excursion was a beauty, they picked us up at the accommodation and we left for Jujuy. The trip is long but 100% worth it. The landscapes are unique. The truth is we were super happy. At the Salinas, you pay an $8000 cash entrance fee to enter and take photos, something to keep in mind. Purmamarca is a beauty and has very good prices for shopping and eating.
The tour was amazing. Our guide Alfredo was very friendly and throughout the trip gave us very interesting information about the places we saw, history, customs, etc. The road, the stops and the destinations, both Salinas Grandes and Purmamarca is certainly something not to miss. Loved it. It exceeded our expectations!
Very good service. All on time. Andres, the driver, a genius!!!!?
Great experience for our North. Very friendly people, close, rich food and lots of color in carnival.
It is important to wear a coat, sunglasses and cap (the weather along the promenade is very eclectic). Also candy or something light to chop. The journey is long and one ends tired, but it is very worth it
