I reserved and English speaking tour. The guy that showed up only spoke Spanish so we did not get the tour.

Itinerary
After hotel pickup, head by coach toward the city center, and listen to your expert guide share the history of Salta. Founded in the 16th century by Spanish visionary Hernando de Lerma, Salta turned into a wildly successful trading center. See evidence of Salta’s heyday in the gold-plated cathedrals and mansions as your vehicle winds through the city, which went into decline after Argentina’s war for independence and the changing of trading routes on the Pacific coast. Today, Salta is known for its beautiful and well-preserved colonial architecture.
Reaching the central plaza, behold the grand, twin-towered Cathedral of Salta, built in 1885, and learn about national hero General Güemes, whose remains rest in the cathedral; he fought against the Spanish during Argentina’s war for independence.
Pass by the Cultural Center of the Americas, and note the Spanish viceroyalty colonial architecture of the Historical Museum of the North, housed in the old cabildo, or town hall.
Admire postcard-perfect San Francisco Church, with towering white pillars supporting a crimson-colored façade. Its purple belfry stands 174 feet (53 meters) tall, and the bell it holds was constructed out of the cannons used during the Battle of Salta.
Pass by the 16th-century San Bernardo Convent, one of the oldest buildings in the city, and the monument to General Güemes.
Leave the city center and head into the foothills skirting Salta. At the top of San Bernardo Hill, take in sweeping views of the city and Andean peaks.
See the Battle of Salta monument and February 20th Park, built in commemoration of the battle fought and won here during the war for independence.
Visit the nearby village of San Lorenzo, frequented by wealthy families from Salta during the summer because of its unusual subtropical microclimate.
Return to Salta and stop at the Artisan Market, located inside a traditional white colonial building, to peruse the offerings from craftsmen who travel from all over the province to sell their goods here. Snack on alfajores (cookies with caramel filling) and candied walnuts, or pick up one-of-a-kind purses, blankets and jewelry (snacks and shopping at your own expense).
With your souvenir shopping done, you’ll be taken back to your hotel.

We were there on Christmas Eve. Not a great time but the city and sights we could see were great . I would highly recommend not going on a holiday where everything is closed. Jasmine, our guide, was great!
Please don’t waste your money on this trip, buy a guide book instead which will give you far more information. We sat on the mini bus outside the cathedral without an opportunity to go in whilst the guide told us nothing we didn’t already know. Take the cable car to the top of the mountain, it will save you a lot of money overall. It was certainly the worst tour we have ever done.
The guide was very good. Know a lot over the city. Because we were the only speaking english people she told it good to us.
The tour was supposed to be in English, but they ran out of English option last minute. I was provided two options: 1) continue with Spanish, or 2) move to another day. I didn’t have an extra day to spare, so went with tho Spanish option, and I relied on my girlfriend to translate. It was a good tour, and the guide was knowledgeable and helpful. Wished the operator company had not changed English availability last minute.
Trip Advisor advertised a start time of 4:30 pm which we followed. The actual tour company start time was 3:00 pm. We, mistakenly following the start time of the company we booked the tour through (Trip Advisor) missed the tour. When we requested a refund we were told the mistake was ours and their would be no refund. Totally do not understand this as why would Trip Advisor and the tour company not be in sync with the start times. We did not create the problem but are being asked to pay for the problem. Bad on Trip Advisor and the tour company.
Good guide with a small group. Went to the main places in and around salta to give a good overview of area.
Our guides English was a limitation The tour itself was fine and a good orientation to salta Not too many tours in late afternoon but it worked!
Gabriella was a very nice guide. She was the first one who knew about some of the trees, which are amazing. You could ask her anything. She does the tour in both English and Spanish at the same time, so don’t be confused when at first nobody speaks English. Gabriella’s English is very good. The only reason I am not giving 5 stars is, that I booked the tour to start at 4:30 on TripAdvisor. We then got a text the day prior to be in the lobby at 3. And another text from a different number to be in the lobby at 4. I had to reach out to the companies emergency phone number to find out the tour actually starts at 3pm. I just don’t think that’s great. What if we had had plans and were counting on it to start at 4:30 like it was advertised? Anyway, other than that it was a good tour. Salta is alright. Not grand and clean like Buenos Aires, but it’s nice to see.
The tour guide and the driver were both excellent, however, we purchased this tour because it said that it was in English. This was not the case. Although the tour guide made great effort to speak first in Spanish and the English, that is not what we signed up for. It was impossible to understand questions from the group, communicate with other group members (because we were the only English-speaking people on the tour) or get a full understanding of what was being said. We would have booked a different tour if we had known that it was not exclusively in English. I would suggest that you make that clear in the future because when we purchased the tour, it clearly said that it was in English - not Spanish and English.
Did the Salta to Cachi to Cafayate to Salta loop. Lots of driving through gorgeous country. Dinner at Bistro de Cachi was excellent. Loved Cafayate and Porvenir Winery. Salta has a lively downtown that we enjoyed.
Way too much time in the sightseeing van; would have enjoyed more of a walking tour. But then again, there really isn’t much to see in the city of Salta: it’s really more of the larger hub as a base to go see other smaller towns in the province.
Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and gave a keen historical perspective of every site we visited. Names, dates, and locations were explained without any difficulty. Highly recommend this tour. 😎
The tour guide prohibits passengers from getting off the bus at the main square and seeing the sights. This makes no sense, as the windows of the bus were not large enough to see the buildings. Besides, we would have liked to go to the cathedral at least briefly, but the tour guide said that after the tour you could do this on your own. Unfortunately not recommended.
Extremely interesting experience, you learn a lot about Salta's history and visit not only buildings in Salta but also the mountain behind it, which serves as the cornerstone of Salta. With its views and artificial waterfall a great experience.
The paid parking system in the city of Salta is a disgrace. On every block there's an official ragman who charges whatever he wants, whenever he wants, and it depends on the client's face. They charge one amount and provide a receipt for another. They pocket the difference, and when you complain, they get violent. It's an abuse. They are taught especially to tourists. A stressful experience, never to be returned to again.
Sehr schöne Tour um die Stadt kennenzulernen Alles wissenswerte wurde erwähnt, auch auf dem Aussichtspunkt hat man einen sehr schönen Blick auf die Stadt Sehr empfehlenswert
Beautiful city, we stayed in a USINA STUDIO BY FMA temporary rental apartment, super clean, with everything you need for a good stay, 4 blocks from downtown. We toured places with unforgettable scenery, from the city tour to excursions that are one more beautiful than another
Very quickly there were no stops in the serro very little time to be there. They don't give you time for the cable car. Gabriela's guide. Well, clearly it's the times they give her, but very kind.
The city tour of the city of Salta was excellent, we had the pleasure of having Santiago Davalos as our guide. Thank you for sharing all your knowledge and taking us to our beautiful school memories where we truly studied history, our roots, our beautiful homeland; in addition to giving it your personal touches with a charming recitation and a touch of humor. Ideal to start the tour of the beautiful Salta, thank you!
Don't go to enjoy New Year's Eve, the city is deserted, good restaurants are closed. Those that open are overcrowded. We left the fantastic hotel (Hotel de la Plaza) at 22:00 and had to settle for a very simple restaurant that accommodated us together with another couple. I recommend Charrua restaurant that didn't open on New Year's Eve. The cable car didn't work on the first day, the cloud train would only work on the 6th, leaving from SAN Antônio de Los Cobres. The Salta match no longer exists.
Generally I try to eat typical local foods. The empanadas are exquisite. Salteño nougat dessert. Apart from the classic excursions. A tour of the San Miguel market, where you can find a variety of spices. Reasonable prices. Plaza San Martin Fair where you can find souvenirs at a good price. Wear comfortable clothes because there is a lot of walking. Waterproof jacket because the weather in December is rainy.
The tour takes three and a half hours. With stops in Cerro San Bernardo and gulch of San Lorenzo, beautiful places and the traditional market. A very nice tour, which allowed us to have a first approach to the city of Salta and then tour each place on time. We did it in a comfortable bus, with a very good guide with data and transmitting his love for Salta.
The guide was an open book. Everything was known about Salta. He missed showing a place for a demonstration. But the rest 10 points
I visited this beautiful city many times. What's the reason to say, "was"? Because on this occasion I observed and suffered the sorry state of his arteries. Very deteriorated, with bumps everywhere, and that I walked only through the streets of downtown. Circulating in a vehicle is a journey. You have to be dodging potholes in order not to destroy the running gear, with the danger of suffering or causing an accident that this implies. Walking on the sidewalks is another odyssey. In addition to being broken and unmaintained, you have to be permanently dodging the excrement that leaves the canines. Honestly I can't imagine how I could walk on those sidewalks, someone who has to do it with the help of a cane or in a wheelchair. It is a practically impossible task! How far this once beautiful city is from the slogan: "Jump: La Linda." It is unfortunate to see such carelessness from the municipal authorities to that of the neighbors themselves, who do not care about maintaining hygiene, cleanliness and good condition of streets and sidewalks in a city very busy by tourism. Every 4 or 5 years I visit Salta, but after this experience I no longer feel the same motivation to return.
A beautiful city to walk around. Full of bars and museums. Very friendly people. The only thing that strikes me that motorists never prioritize the pedestrian (at least much less than in other places of the country)
We have visited Salta several times, and unfortunately the general deterioration we encounter is growing and ruining the aesthetics. Downtown, dirt, trash, lack of cleaning, broken sidewalks have become the rule and not the exception. The plazas are practically abandoned, almost without pasture due to lack of irrigation and carelessness. I put an image of Güemes Square, whom they revere so much in Salta, and they do not maintain a minimum place. Tours to the different excursions continue without the minimum support infrastructure, either in absent viewpoints at scenic points (they are only stops at the side of the routes), much less think of public toilets and other service areas. It is rating that both the governor and the different quartermasters are not interested in providing a good Service to tourism that should be a good source of income
The landscapes are exceptional and change according to the time of day when you appreciate them. I made excursions from Salta, but the villages are for living, I recommend spending at least one night with your two days in towns like Tilcara, Purmamarca, Humahuaca and Cafayate, although there are thousands between Salta and Jujuy. Walking its streets, walking its hills, interacting with people, wonderful, amazing as they maintain their customs, their beliefs. The unmissable Train of Clouds, the magnificent Salinas Grandes, and Salta capital has thousands of corners. You must live the Argentine North, it's wonderful.
Punmamarca, Virgen del cerro, Peña CASA GRANDE, San Lorenzo and the beautiful old town, wonderful train of the clouds, the warmth of the sálteños, the Brizo hotel where we were, excellent in every way
The tour will take you three and a half hours, but with only stops at the extreme ends of the city: Cerro de San Bernardo (fantastic panoramic views, see foot photo) and Quebrada de San Lorenzo (a mere forest, without views). For the rest of the tour, the bus does not stop and simply walks past the monuments, the tourist can barely take a quick photo through the window. The guide is the driver himself, the explanations are adequate and bilingual. The minibus is a new, spacious and comfortable Mercedes. The journey to the Quebrada de San Lorenzo is long (45 minutes) and without much interest, beyond the interesting explanations of the guide about the exploits of General Guemes, the local homeland hero. I would sincerely recommend opting for the tourist bus that departs from July 9 every hour. It does practically the same route with the same two stops (although at the foot of San Bernardo and not at the top, you have to take the cable car). But it is cheaper, it leaves every hour, there is no booking and it is an open-top bus. And I would recommend hiring a walking tour of the historic center.
The city of Salta has a variety of options for children, teenagers and adults. Landscape, architecture, history, religion, fun with its characteristic rocks.
Just a beautiful trip, its landscapes, its people, everything. And at very affordable prices, it's worth it
Can't miss it, they call her Jump pretty. In the Cathedral rest the remains of the General. Gems.
Excellent, the.exceptional guide as more than a guide is a true artist and I manage to convey the history and patriotism of Salta, it was different to other tours, Recommended thousand.times, gave us the opportunity to understand and select which particular points later reinforce
Very beautiful places impossible to stop going, the landscapes, everything cute, very friendly people, unmissable folk rocks!
Beautiful city its streets in the central area very picturesque. All buildings and temples in the city are maintained in excellent condition. really very beautiful city.
When you arrive check because you are called "La linda", it really is a beautiful city, in the main square you can take a tourist bus that runs through the city, showing the characteristic places, right there you get the tickets for this bus.
