Private Ceramic Workshop In Vietri Sul Mare

This was an excellent experience. Elvira is a wonderful, patient and enthusiastic teacher. We spent one hour molding clay, one hour with the pottery wheel and one hour painting a tile. . . The perfect thing to do in the ceramic capital of Europe!

My other excursions in Vietri Sul Mare and Salerno cancelled, so I booked this experience at the last minute. This was such a lovely surprise! I was the only participant for my time slot. I was able to do handbuilding, wheelthrowing, and glazing with one-on-one instruction. The instructor even took photographs for me and you can have your finished products shipped to you!

This was fantastic. I am a ceramic student so most of what we did was not new for me. However, Elvira explained everything from hand building to throwing on the wheel and glazing in such easily understandable ways that anyone could follow. She was excellent. She gave me some tips that I did not know and I’m certain they will help me. I highly recommend this experience.

A fantastic experience with real hands on practice and excellent instruction. Would absolutely recommend for anybody with time in Vietri. Be advised - don’t wear any jewellery though! Your hands will get delightfully messy :)

Elvira was amazing! She was super patient with us, even though we were complete novices. I had our three boys with us (16, 13, & 9) and she was patient with everyone of us. Highly recommend!

We had a wonderful experience and cannot recommend Elvira and her workshop more!!!! Elvira is passionate, dedicated, and incredibly knowledgeable. I learned more from her in 3 hours than I did a semester in college. I was skeptical at getting it all done (hand sculpting, pottery wheel, glazing and painting in just 3 hours but we did and at no point did we feel rushed or hurried. She also gave us a little history of Vietri and why ceramics became so important and successful there. We enjoyed our time and can’t wait to see our finished products. I strongly recommend this workshop for both beginners and experienced artisans.

The organiser was lovely and helpful, however we didn’t get offered any refreshments during the workshop, as advertised. That aside, it was outdoors so it was very hot (Aug) and we were parched. Sadly, the original ad did not inform us that we wouldn’t get to take away what we had made - 3 hours and nothing to show for it, @€60 each! The organiser said it takes two weeks for the natural drying process etc and had we known that, we wouldn’t have booked. We were disappointed and disheartened as we created lovely mementoes. She said she said she could post them but it would take 2-3 months! Very disappointed.

Elvira was amazing. It ended up that my Daughter and I were the only ones in the class and that was probably a good thing as we are not that artistic and probably needed more help than usual. Elvira was patient and extremely helpful. This was our favorite experience/class of our trip. I would recommend this activity to everyone and for all ages!

Our private Ceramic Workshop in Vietri Sul Mare was a great experience for our family of four. Elvira guided us through several steps such as clay modeling an animal ("Stephan the Sea Horse", "Freddy the Fish", "Gerald the Giraffe" and last by not least "Donald the Dino") using the pottery wheel to craft a small vase (it looks simple, but we can assure you it is not) and glazing and painting of ceramic. Time really flew by.

I enjoyed spending time with Elvira in her art studio and trying the different pottery making methods! She is a lovely person and her teaching style is fun and easy to follow. She was always very encouraging. I can’t wait to receive my fired pottery!!

My husband and I enjoyed our time learning about ceramics and trying out the pottery table (not so easy lol) and painting our own ceramic piece. Highly recommend!

Our artist/teacher was amazing! We really enjoyed the experience. The first hour I made a pot & my guy formed a dragon fly. The second hour we worked on the pottery wheel. Its so difficult! It was fun to watch an expert do it, then try it ourselves. We made small vases. The 3rd hour we glazed & painted small pots that other students had made & the instructor shared ceramic history. She was very patient & kind & I would highly recommend it.

Getting my hands dirty with clay! Loved the tactile approach. And doing three distinct activities, the pottery wheel, painting, glazing, hand making a bowl. And the history of ceramics in Vietri was very interesting also.

My 21 year old daughter and myself had an amazing 3 hours learning how to make a pinch pot, make a pot on the wheel and then we got to paint a pot. We both had so much fun, we were never rushed and it was all explained so well. I would definitely recommend this activity to anyone who wants a truly fun day.

I went to the ceramic workshop a few days ago and it was amazing. I've always wanted to try out pottery and now I finally got the chance to do it. I would highly recommend doing this workshop as you learn a lot and have a great time! :)

Brilliant 3 hour ceramics class. We really enjoyed it and had loads of fun. It was great trying different methods of making ceramics and playing with the clay. Would totally recommend it!

The ceramic workshop was so much fun, we’re both really glad we did it. It’s a great way to learn more about Vietri sul Mare. The teacher is very patient. Three hours sounds like a long time but it went by so quickly.

It was a brilliant experience, we got the chance to learn about the ceramics history in Vietri and practice some of the techniques, from hand making a bowl to getting to spin a vase on the wheel and even painting a finished pot. Elvira was a great teacher we we would definitely recommend this, a highlight of our trip!

We had the best time listening and learning about potery, ceramic and the history of Vietri. We chose a 3 hours experience with clay modeling, "tour" potery and painting. Our hostess was extremely nice and interesting. If you have the opportunity, just do it. Definitely recommend !

This workshop was excellent and amazing value for money. It covered a huge amount of content and knowledge in just three hours. Elvira is very welcoming and helpful. It's a must for anyone wanting a fun introduction to ceramics.

It was very exciting! First we used fully manual technique and could cahoots what to make, e.g. animal, plate etc. Before we started we got recommendations how we could make a thing we wanted. The next stage was to make a vase on a potters wheel, and the next - painting a vase. We had much fund during the workshop and learned local pottery techniques.

Fantastic experience. Booked a three hour workshop and Elvira was very friendly and brought us through the journey of ceramics and pottery. Would definitely recommend to try and Elvira has kindly offered to ship our items we made back to Ireland :)

This experience was incredible. Really informative and so wholesome in a private little garden off the street. The workshop is run by a lovely lady, would absolutely recommend.

I was there with my son, who does not speak English nor Italian, but the lady was so kind and found a way to communicate with him and to explain to him what to do. The program was packed with many activities (whole ceramic process) and many stories about the product. I was delighted and happy to do this for the first time. We modelled the clay, the use of the spinning wheel, the white smalt, then the painting, then the difference in what you see and what comes out after backing. I would repeat the experience if I would return to south of Italy. The language is not a barrier here, as there is plenty of hands-on experiences which can be imitated without many wordy. But the lady has many good stories. About the lady : We had a misfortune before the booked training, so we could not arrive in time. The lady was very kind and proposed another date which suited us and reimbursed a different training which we couldn't attend any more. By this I what to say that she is a great person, with a kind attitude and a lot of empathy. We were happy to be there, and the art or ceramic should not be underestimated.

We took the 3 hour class which included working with clay, time on the pottery wheel and painting/decorating ceramics. It was extremely relaxing and the instructor was very accommodating and engaging. She is even shipping our finished pieces back to the US! Take this tour/class when you are in Vietri Sul Mare !

i think i found my new hobby:))) i had a great time. I learned a lot about the process, the material used and got some time to experiment on my own. i enjoyed it and the teacher was very helpful and supportive. i highly encourage everyone to try it!

I arrived at this workshop in the heart of Vietri sul Mare with a lot of curiosity. Mrs. Elvira welcomed me with a smile and kindly offered me water and coffee, always appreciated! In a 3-hour course, she told me about her work, explained many aspects, and we created together. I was able to use the tools, the colors, paint my tile, I modeled the clay, I used the potter's wheel, after a very careful explanation from Elvira, showing it herself and then following me step by step while I used it, with patience and courtesy. We shared some aspects of our personal history, in short, like good chatterboxes! For me, a very appreciated thing. A beautiful life experience that I will carry in my heart and... home! On the shelf or on the wall, whichever it may be. A beautiful memory. Thank you

Beautiful and interesting experience as a couple. Course gifted by our children for our 30th wedding anniversary. Elvira taught us so many things and is very nice!!! Course recommended to anyone who wants to have an experience different from the usual ones!! Many thanks to Mrs. Elvira and especially to our children for introducing us to the world of ceramics.
