The Temple of Hera II in Paestum (formerly Poseidonia), is earlier and is still often referred to as the 'Temple of Poseidon' or 'Temple of Neptunus' due to a misidentification. This temple is the more northern and recent of the two Hera temples in Paestum.

Amazing Greek and Roman ruins. The small group tour was terrific with the guide Maria. The weather chased us in to the museum where she continued the tour but we were able to reenter the ruins later in the day to finish exploring on our own when the weather cleared.

Ciro, our guide, was wonderful. I enjoyed learning from him about the day to day life of the people of Pompeii and his enthusiasm for the subject matter. The time frame for the tour was ideal and left us plenty of time to explore on our own. I highly recommend this to anyone visiting Pompeii. It was a great experience.
It was definitely worth going with a guide. He was knowledgeable, entertaining and friendly, and added a lot to my understanding. We finished in the museum, where he showed us many key exhibits and we had the option to explore further on our own afterwards. There were only six people in the group. It was always easy to hear the guide, and he answered everyone’s questions.
A wonderful experience with an excellent guide. Mario was very informative and had a gently humorous and friendly manner. The two hours flew by. The booking process was very smooth (we gave 36hrs notice for the English guided tour) with clear instructions on where and when to meet. Highly recommended.

Have done a few tours over the years some great some not so much- this one was completely no hassle and great Mario was an excellent guide and really just fantastic. I highly recommend the tour with him, if hadn’t been a million degrees I am sure all of us would have been more chatty but its summer.

I have been on 100s of tours of ruins, and Ivan's tour was one of the best ever. He did 7 digs at Paestum, and can literally show/tell you what he found and where. He made the tour very engaging, and was great with the kids, too. Being an expert on this, he absolutely bossed all the questions asked. It is next level for your guide to show you--in the museum--the really important artifacts he's discovered. Very cool--can't recommend enough--book Ivan.
Great place to visit. Lots less crowds than Rome or Athens. Able to enter the temple. Our guide, Mario, was superb. Her has a huge knowledge of the site. Highly recommend if you want to stay away from crowds.
It was a great half day tour, our tour guide, Mario is very knowledgeable, his speech is very clear, and he is friendly too. Next time we will book our return train tickets in a later schedule, so we don’t have to rush through the museum, which is quite a lot to see.
A very interesting and different experience from Pompeii and Herculaneum. The remains of the Greek temples are more complete than Athens. The layout of the settlement is quite advanced. The artifacts in the museum are definitely worth a look.

Beautiful hidden gem in Campania away from the masses flooding the most popular sites. Made even better by the knowledge and enthusiasm of Maria. Highly recommended for those looking for more than just Pompeii or Herculaneum.

The tour operator Askos canceled our 2PM tour due to “emergency” but offered the same time for private tour with 120 more pay. Simply unacceptable behavior by Askos, as we drive 2 hours and paid 200 euro for hotel to stay there today.

While anyone can wander the grounds of Paestum to see the sights without a knowledgeable guide we would have missed the rich history. Our guide in particular was an archaeologist and outstanding. Most of us will visit Paestum once, why not make it the best experience for your time there?
Fabulous greek temples to view and explore. Our guide was excellent - very knowledgeable and his English was very good. You get to go into the temples so you are standing on stones that have been there for hundreds of years. An awesome experience.

She paced the tour well and willingly answered questions and provided information about the current status of the site and excavations as well as historical data as site changed from Greek to Roman control. Easily reached by Regionale train and charming 1 km walk from station.
Our guide, Ivan, was perhaps the best guide I’ve ever had. He was so knowledgeable— with first- hand archeological experience — and made the sites and museum exhibits come alive for us. So interesting and fun!
lucky to get Ivan as our tour guide. His PhD thesis (in archeology) was on an area in Paestum. He was phenomenal throughout, and then we ended in the museum where he could point out the items he uncovered and show us things about them No other person could possibly know. We enjoyed our guided tour of Paustrum with Francesca. She was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the topics she covered. She also provided a helpful outline at the start of her tour and asked us questions so she could tailor her responses to our experiences (which was not usually the case with our other Italian guides). We learned a lot and we've been on many tours on related topics. So I would definitely recommend Francesca as a guide for this tour.

Mario was the perfect guide for us. His passion for archaeology and history was evident from the first moment, and his constant smile was an indication of how much he enjoyed talking to us. I can’t decide whether I enjoyed the museum portion of the tour best or the time we spent walking around the Paestum ruins. This was a perfect experience in every way.
Our tour was canceled the day before. While I understand emergencies happen, the frustration of booking plans to have them canceled is disheartening. In hindsight, we did our own tour for €10 and had a blast! We bought 2 guide books from the museum bookstore and that was perfect.

Maria was awesome! This was my second Askos tour, the first was Herculaenum with another guide, and this one was as interesting and informative as the other. It’s apparent this company provides guides that are professional and very knowledgable. The 2 hours flew by and Maria provided so many interesting tidbits of information you would never have known otherwise. I highly recommend Askos. And than you Maria for a great day!
