Wadi Dawkah is on the northern Side of Salalah and is a UNESCO Heritage site. Here there's a large natural garden of Frankincense Trees, which are the source of Dhofari Frankincense. There are more than 1200 Frankincense Trees in the wadi. Sign board is placed at the main entrance of the park and explain how the tapping of sap is carried out. Each tree yields three to four kilograms of luban (frankincense) each season. Dhofari Frankincense are the best in the world.
The Lost City of Ubar is a UNESCO World heritage site. The ruins of Ubar have been found in the villageknown as Shisr in Dhofar Governorate in Sultanate of Oman, around 3 hours’ drive from Salalah and approximately 55 kms from the main road of Thumrait. When it was discovered back in the early 1990’s, it has been named as one of the greatest discoveries at that time. Archaeological excavations suggest this site was involved in the incense trade in the past, most probably for the inland trade. Ubar disappeared into the desert sands. It’s even been dubbed the “Atlantis of the Sands.” This legendary ancient kingdom, known as Ubar, was said to have existed in one of the most inhospitable places on earth
The Empty Quarter (known as Rub al Khali in Arabic) in Dhofar Region of Oman is the main destination of the tour, which is one of the best places in the world to experience desert. You will be taken to the Empty Quarter to experience the biggest sand desert in the World. You will meet camels there as well. Here there will be driving and rambling / trekking on fascinating sand dunes. Sand boarding will be offered. Sunset will be seen on the desert sand.
Desert trip was one of the most powerful experiences in Oman. We saw frankincense trees growing in their natural habitat, met camels roaming freely, and enjoyed a camel ride at sunset. Dinner with the Bedouins had an incredible atmosphere – simple, authentic, under the open sky. And the night? Silence of the desert and a sky full of stars… pure magic. Truly unforgettable.
Mohammed - Ali was the best guide on our trip, he took us to amazing sports in the desert, we did dune bashing, unforgettable sunset. We visited a traditional incense-burning district, explored the fascinating lost city of Ubar, and experienced a camel farm. We also had tea and snacks, all very lovingly prepared. The highlight was the sunset in the dunes simply magical! Our guide Mohammed Almahdali chose the perfect place and moment for it. This was the best tour I have done in Salalah. We got to see black camels and drink its milk. The sunset in the desert was stunning, dinner was tasty and generous, we even stop on the way back to see the stars and the beautiful orange full moon. The experience was fantastic thanks to our guide Mohammed Ali, the best guide in Salalah.
We were picked up at the hotel by our driver host and story teller Abo Salim who has showed us during the tour a side of Oman that we were very anxious to experience : the real country outside the gate of any resort as can be explained to us only by a local. It was not only a trip to see the frankincense trees the camels, drink traditional coffee or experience a stunning sunset in the middle of the dunes but also get to understand how the life and customs of the omani people really is . It was an opportunity to laugh together to ask about stories of the past and present life to learn and share experiences. The trip is very interesting the fotos in the desert are spectacular, we were a small group and we got to go to a place were it was not crowded and we witnessed some cool driving skills up and down the dunes. I would highly recommend this tour and our guide!
Amazing tour! Salalah is very unique, Frankincense tree visit was very interesting ,the tour guide was Abu Salim, he was always sharing his local knowledge and very open to receive questions, he was in a great mood making the tour enjoyable and smooth, the desert visit was epic, desert is one of the best ways to enjoy sunset, the drive was fun, I included dinner, and it was delicious, apart that having dinner in the desert is very enjoyable. After that Abu Salim took the time to show us the stars in a very unique point, and he was able to explain where were located, unique experience, hope to come back, thank you so much to Abu Salim, and the rest of the group that were all amazing

Abo Salim has been an excellent guide through the desert! During our excursion, we have seen the black camels and tried their milk and we have stopped in the old city of Ubar and in the land of Frankincense before reaching the sand dunes, where we could experience some exciting drifting and the sunset. A delicious dinner with camel meat and shawarma was the final tasty touch to end a memorable day. Thank you Abo Salim for all your little attentions and care, you are definitely the best driver!

Must-see tour with stops to see the frankincense trees, enjoy Omani coffee and visit the alleged remains of the lost city of Ubar. The tour culminates with the visit of the scenic dunes at the Empty Quarter desert. Breathtaking views and one of the most beautiful sunsets ever experienced. The desert suntour was an amazing trip. My tour guide Abo Salim was great, pick up on time. He brought some water and snacks for the tour. The tour with him was interesting and communicating. He gives all the needed facts about the frankenciene, the lost city and the desert. Since he is well experienced in the desert I felt save the whole time. And the dune bashing is unforgettable. A very disappointing experience, we were made to see a tree, an “archaeological” center well or something outside the enclosure that left us there amid flies and went to pray at the little table, then took us to see the camels that were in a deplorable situation locked up and in bad condition ... there was a baby camel that looked like it was dying the unpleasant truth and last and not least disappointing the desert, took us and managed like a normal person, I waited for more adrenaline but absolutely nothing, left us in a few dunes and he left told us that he was waiting for us at the bottom after sunset, unkind nor offered to take pictures of people , the sunset in the desert if it is cute but nothing extraordinary. The cherry on the cake was that on the way back he was asked by a lady if she no longer played music to which her answer was “now sing your” in the most unpleasant way. The price you pay is not worth it at all with the ride, no correspondence quality - price , 5 to 6 hours in the car to see things that are not worth DISAPPOINTING

Probably the best tour you can do in February. The sand dunes are unique at sunset, an experience for eternity. We are dangerous with Mohammed, just horny as he drove up and down even the steepest dunes.

We went on a desert safari with a group of tourists Initially, we tapped a lava reserve in the Duque Valley and the guide, Bosal, was outstanding in explaining every detail and full of customs and traditions of the country We stopped in Thamarite to drink Arabic coffee and then headed over to the shahr to visit the UNESCO site and then to the dunes, enjoy the soft yellow sands and watch the sunset Bossam’s top guide in 4x4 driving Way back after sunset to Thyrt for dinner at the restaurant It was a beautiful experience and everyone would go with the beautiful tourist saloon
It was the most impressive, beautiful, exciting, great excursion I could make! Although I was the only participant of this group excursion, this one was carried out and I was able to enjoy this unforgettable day alone with the wonderful guide Abo Salim.
