Proceed to Thumrait Town to have a few minutes refreshment and may be enjoying the Taste of Arabian cup of Coffee (Qahwah) and Dates (Tamer). The town of Thumrait has been a vital point in the ancient Frankincense trading routes. Gear up as you head to the next stop of lost city of Ubar archaeological.
Visit the legendary Lost City of Ubar, discovered in 1992 with the help of NASA satellites. Optional entry is available for 3 OMR per person (not included in the tour price). Alternatively, guests can enjoy a free photo stop from outside, with the guide sharing the history and significance of this ancient UNESCO site. This option allows more time to explore the beautiful desert dunes.

What a wonderful adventure into the Arabian Desert! Mohammed was the perfect guide as we toured first the Frankincense trees and he even brought me my own bag as a souvenir! The Desert trip is far but worth the journey! I highly recommend bringing a bottle of wine to watch the sunset. Photos were worth the trip.

Everything was completely PERFECT Actually I had some doubts going into the desert with 3 small children but Ahmed was nice and helpful! He customized our trip and he was brillant!! We had a wonderful experence and our children made an unique experience We had a stop also to see all the stars above the sky on our way going back! After this great day, Ahmed took us also into the city of Salalah where we have seen all the main attractions and also an hidden part of the city!!! Whilst the weather disrupted our plans...Hamid was extremely friendly and professional. I took comfort from the fact he was concerned with our safety. Our trip was a very impressive and amazing experience, which could not have been better! We were picked up on time by the guide (Hamed, a local Omani from Salalah) at the reception of our hotel and started our way to the desert with a quick stop in Thumrait, a very interesting introduction into Frankincense trees, a stop at the historic site of Ubar and even a short stop on the way to the desert at a local camel shepherd, where we were introduced to these impressive animals. The desert itself was magnificent and we were safely guided through the dunes by Hamed. Enjoying the sunset on top of one of the highest dunes is definitely something we will never forget! During our trip we were provided with everything necessary (water, juices, coffee, fruits) and even got a specially prepared meal to enjoy in the desert (both of us are vegetarians, so they prepared a nice Falafel-based meal with salad and wraps). One thing that stood out for us was the impressive knowledge and openness of Hamed on everything that we asked, be it local / Omani history, culture, nature etc. This really enriched out trip to the max, as we did not feel like tourists during the ~8 hours, while also learning a lot about the Salalah region. We definitely recommend this trip to everyone!!!
Our trip to the dunes was unforgettable. Hamed drove us as a local tour guide to the largest and most beautiful dunes, where we could move freely afterwards and had as long as we wanted. The drive to the dunes and the monuments was also very pleasant and Hamed provided us with enough snacks and water. In addition, Hamed was very careful and always made sure that all tour participants were safe. We did the tour during the day, but probably the trip is even more beautiful at sunset.

Sunset in the desert is definitely a unique and unforgettable experience. But also the journey in the plateau that precedes and full of charm. The trip also includes some stops, all spectacular, in the Wadi, at the top of the mountains and sunset over the sea. A big difference in these days is the guide. HAMID was fantastic and was able to give us special moments, just in those less touristy and obvious things.
Spending a few hours on the desert dunes is priceless! From salalah there are about 2.5 hours by jeep but it is worth it! Thank you Hamid for letting us live this wonderful day
Tour that keeps you busy from about 1pm to 9pm and allows you to enjoy the beach in the morning. The desert is far away but the trip runs with many attractions, such as incense plantations, but the whole trip is to be discovered, the guide is essential and we with Hamid had a great time, but all the organization by the agency worked perfectly. Very competitive prices compared to the tours organized at the Resort and then you have the exclusivity of the guide. The dunes should be enjoyed in silence and not with many people and our guide was excellent even on the dunes. Upon returning we stopped to watch the stars fantastic experience. In short, I highly recommend.
